A statement issued by the organisers stated that the symposium covered global best practices and risk mitigation in what is seen as an operationally challenging market.</p>

	Held under the aegis of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), the symposium focused on helicopter operations, brought together experts from Airbus Helicopters and EASA, customers and industry specialists to discuss ways to further boost aviation safety in Nepal.</p>
<p>
	&ldquo;Helicopter operation in Nepal is probably one of the toughest operations in the world due to multiple challenges posed by higher elevation, inhospitable terrain and difficult weather conditions,&rdquo; the statement quoted Sanjiv Gautam, director general of CAAN, as saying.</p>
<p>
	&ldquo;This effort of Airbus and EASA is really appreciated by us and we look forward to receiving such safety workshops in the coming days.&rdquo;</p>
<p>
	According to the statement, the symposium covered a broad range of subjects, including safety management systems, pre-flight risk assessment, risk mitigation, and root cause analysis of incidents. The participants discussed case studies on operational safety and also took part in a workshop on helicopter incident prevention conducted by Airbus Helicopters and EASA specialists.</p>

	&ldquo;Airbus is the market leader in civil helicopters in Nepal. As a company, we are committed to the culture of &lsquo;safety first&rsquo;, and this symposium is a demonstration of how we support our markets and customers with our global expertise on safety topics,&rdquo; said Anand E Stanley, president and managing director of Airbus India and South Asia.</p>

	Airbus said it accounts for 63 percent of Nepal&rsquo;s helicopter market. At present, 27 Airbus Ecureuil helicopters are operating in the country. In keeping with its commitment to promoting safety in all its operations, Airbus Helicopters has been conducting safety road shows around the world. This safety symposium was the second to be organised by Airbus in Nepal since the first one in 2016.</p>

	Floriculture Association Nepal (FAN) has stated that the cost of roses is going to be higher this year compared to last year as the demand for rose has risen, RSS said.</p>

	FAN said that the volume of import of roses will see a surge this year due to the increase in demand. The association said that most of the rose stems to be sold on the Valentine&rsquo;s Day are being imported from India.</p>
<p>
	Nepal imported rose worth Rs 12.5 million last year.</p>
<p>
	President of FAN Kumar Kasajoo Shrestha said rose is going to cost a little more this year as its price has gone up in the international market.</p>
<p>
	Roses worth Rs 200 million is traded in the country annually. Shrestha said that domestic production meets 20 percent of the market demand and the rest are imported. Of the total roses imported, more than 60 percent are consumed in the Kathmandu Valley.</p>
<p>
	According to RSS, the price of rose was in the range of Rs 40 to 80 per unit last year. It is expected to reach Rs 50 to 100 this year, a rise of 15 percent.</p>
<p>
	Although a western culture, celebration of the Valentine&rsquo;s Day has become a fad in the country in recent years. The Valentine&rsquo;s Day falls on February 14 but generally the youths start celebrating it one week ahead.</p>
<p>
	RSS reported that the floriculture business which started from 2007 BS in Nepal has been flourishing with the growing urbanization.</p>
<p>
	&ldquo;Floriculture business and nurseries have been growing with the growing demand for flowers. There are around 675 floriculture nurseries in 41 districts especially in Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Kaski, Chitwan, Makwanpur, Kavrepalanchok, Gulmi, Palpa, Dhading, Morang among other districts.&rdquo;</p>

He said that the CBIC officials officially informed the ministry regarding this decision on Wednesday, January 23.</p>

	&ldquo;CBIC has already issued such directive and the Kolkata Customs Office will issue the notice within a few days,&rdquo; he told NBA.</p>

	January 25: Stakeholders of the industrial sector have expressed their view that the recent amendment to the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) Act will encourage investors towards injecting investments in the special economic zones.</p>
<p>
	Addressing a roundtable discussion in the capital on Thursday regarding the &lsquo;problems faced by industries inside the Bhairahawa SEZ,&rsquo; the stakeholders said that the government&rsquo;s decision to reduce the compulsory export provision for industries inside SEZ to 60 per cent from the existing 75 per cent is investment-friendly and will encourage the private sector towards investing in such protected zones of the government, according to the Society of Economic Journalists of Nepal (SEJON) which organised the discussion.</p>
<p>
	With various amendments intended to promote export provisions for industries inside SEZ and assure further tax incentives, the cabinet had endorsed the SEZ Bill last week. The SEZ Bill has been tabled at the Parliament for final approval.</p>
<p>
	Along with reducing the mandatory export provision for industries operating within the SEZ to 60 per cent of their production, the new SEZ Bill also assures 100 per cent income tax waiver for such industries for the first five years and 50 per cent income tax waiver thereafter, SEJON said in a statement.</p>
<p>
	Similarly, the Bill has also reduced the rental fee for industries within SEZ to Rs 20 per square meter per month from Rs 150 per square meter month.</p>
<p>
	Furthermore, the SEZ Bill has also reduced the minimum investment ceiling for industries inside SEZ to Rs 20 million from Rs 50 million.&nbsp;</p>
<p>
	Speaking at the discussion programme, Shankar Sharma, former vice-chairman of the National Planning Commission (NPC) said that though the SEZ Bill has attempted to promote investment inside the SEZs, the government should now focus on effective implementation of the new laws.</p>
<p>
	&ldquo;The new SEZ Bill has addressed some of the key issues raised by investors inside the SEZ. However, it is crucial that the government implements the law properly through enhanced cooperation between the government agencies,&rdquo; said Sharma.</p>
<p>
	Similarly, Toyam Raya, director general at the Department of Customs, said that current laws are contradictory resulting in difficulty in their effective implementation.</p>
<p>
	&ldquo;Thus, the government should ensure that any law should not contradict with another one while formulating them,&rdquo; said Raya.</p>
<p>
	On the occasion, Hara Raj Neupane, deputy managing director of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) assured that the authority is serious in providing necessary power supply in the industrial sector, including the Bhairahawa SEZ.</p>
<p>
	Meanwhile, former Commerce Secretary Purshottam Ojha said that the government should focus on implementing the one-door policy for industries inside SEZs.</p>

	President of FAN Kumar Kasajoo Shrestha said rose is going to cost a little more this year as its price has gone up in the international market.</p>

	Roses worth Rs 200 million is traded in the country annually. Shrestha said that domestic production meets 20 percent of the market demand and the rest are imported. Of the total roses imported, more than 60 percent are consumed in the Kathmandu Valley.</p>
<p>
	According to RSS, the price of rose was in the range of Rs 40 to 80 per unit last year. It is expected to reach Rs 50 to 100 this year, a rise of 15 percent.</p>
<p>
	Although a western culture, celebration of the Valentine&rsquo;s Day has become a fad in the country in recent years. The Valentine&rsquo;s Day falls on February 14 but generally the youths start celebrating it one week ahead.</p>
<p>
	RSS reported that the floriculture business which started from 2007 BS in Nepal has been flourishing with the growing urbanization.</p>
<p>
	&ldquo;Floriculture business and nurseries have been growing with the growing demand for flowers. There are around 675 floriculture nurseries in 41 districts especially in Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Kaski, Chitwan, Makwanpur, Kavrepalanchok, Gulmi, Palpa, Dhading, Morang among other districts.&rdquo;</p>

	&ldquo;CBIC has already issued such directive and the Kolkata Customs Office will issue the notice within a few days,&rdquo; he told NBA.</p>

	Addressing a roundtable discussion in the capital on Thursday regarding the &lsquo;problems faced by industries inside the Bhairahawa SEZ,&rsquo; the stakeholders said that the government&rsquo;s decision to reduce the compulsory export provision for industries inside SEZ to 60 per cent from the existing 75 per cent is investment-friendly and will encourage the private sector towards investing in such protected zones of the government, according to the Society of Economic Journalists of Nepal (SEJON) which organised the discussion.</p>
<p>
	With various amendments intended to promote export provisions for industries inside SEZ and assure further tax incentives, the cabinet had endorsed the SEZ Bill last week. The SEZ Bill has been tabled at the Parliament for final approval.</p>
<p>
	Along with reducing the mandatory export provision for industries operating within the SEZ to 60 per cent of their production, the new SEZ Bill also assures 100 per cent income tax waiver for such industries for the first five years and 50 per cent income tax waiver thereafter, SEJON said in a statement.</p>
<p>
	Similarly, the Bill has also reduced the rental fee for industries within SEZ to Rs 20 per square meter per month from Rs 150 per square meter month.</p>
<p>
	Furthermore, the SEZ Bill has also reduced the minimum investment ceiling for industries inside SEZ to Rs 20 million from Rs 50 million.&nbsp;</p>
<p>
	Speaking at the discussion programme, Shankar Sharma, former vice-chairman of the National Planning Commission (NPC) said that though the SEZ Bill has attempted to promote investment inside the SEZs, the government should now focus on effective implementation of the new laws.</p>
<p>
	&ldquo;The new SEZ Bill has addressed some of the key issues raised by investors inside the SEZ. However, it is crucial that the government implements the law properly through enhanced cooperation between the government agencies,&rdquo; said Sharma.</p>
<p>
	Similarly, Toyam Raya, director general at the Department of Customs, said that current laws are contradictory resulting in difficulty in their effective implementation.</p>
<p>
	&ldquo;Thus, the government should ensure that any law should not contradict with another one while formulating them,&rdquo; said Raya.</p>
<p>
	On the occasion, Hara Raj Neupane, deputy managing director of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) assured that the authority is serious in providing necessary power supply in the industrial sector, including the Bhairahawa SEZ.</p>
<p>
	Meanwhile, former Commerce Secretary Purshottam Ojha said that the government should focus on implementing the one-door policy for industries inside SEZs.</p>

	&ldquo;Helicopter operation in Nepal is probably one of the toughest operations in the world due to multiple challenges posed by higher elevation, inhospitable terrain and difficult weather conditions,&rdquo; the statement quoted Sanjiv Gautam, director general of CAAN, as saying.</p>

	&ldquo;This effort of Airbus and EASA is really appreciated by us and we look forward to receiving such safety workshops in the coming days.&rdquo;</p>

	According to the statement, the symposium covered a broad range of subjects, including safety management systems, pre-flight risk assessment, risk mitigation, and root cause analysis of incidents. The participants discussed case studies on operational safety and also took part in a workshop on helicopter incident prevention conducted by Airbus Helicopters and EASA specialists.</p>

	&ldquo;Airbus is the market leader in civil helicopters in Nepal. 	Under this special offer, passengers can avail tickets for Kathmandu-Bangkok flights at Rs 12,000 excluding tax. The NAC has been conducting this flight for three days in a week &ndash; Monday, Thursday and Friday.</p>

	Floriculture Association Nepal (FAN) has stated that the cost of roses is going to be higher this year compared to last year as the demand for rose has risen, RSS said.</p>

	FAN said that the volume of import of roses will see a surge this year due to the increase in demand. The association said that most of the rose stems to be sold on the Valentine&rsquo;s Day are being imported from India.</p>
<p>
	Nepal imported rose worth Rs 12.5 million last year.</p>
<p>
	President of FAN Kumar Kasajoo Shrestha said rose is going to cost a little more this year as its price has gone up in the international market.</p>
<p>
	Roses worth Rs 200 million is traded in the country annually. Shrestha said that domestic production meets 20 percent of the market demand and the rest are imported. Of the total roses imported, more than 60 percent are consumed in the Kathmandu Valley.</p>
<p>
	According to RSS, the price of rose was in the range of Rs 40 to 80 per unit last year. It is expected to reach Rs 50 to 100 this year, a rise of 15 percent.</p>
<p>
	Although a western culture, celebration of the Valentine&rsquo;s Day has become a fad in the country in recent years. The Valentine&rsquo;s Day falls on February 14 but generally the youths start celebrating it one week ahead.</p>
<p>
	RSS reported that the floriculture business which started from 2007 BS in Nepal has been flourishing with the growing urbanization.</p>
<p>
	&ldquo;Floriculture business and nurseries have been growing with the growing demand for flowers. There are around 675 floriculture nurseries in 41 districts especially in Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Kaski, Chitwan, Makwanpur, Kavrepalanchok, Gulmi, Palpa, Dhading, Morang among other districts.&rdquo;</p>

	Addressing a roundtable discussion in the capital on Thursday regarding the &lsquo;problems faced by industries inside the Bhairahawa SEZ,&rsquo; the stakeholders said that the government&rsquo;s decision to reduce the compulsory export provision for industries inside SEZ to 60 per cent from the existing 75 per cent is investment-friendly and will encourage the private sector towards investing in such protected zones of the government, according to the Society of Economic Journalists of Nepal (SEJON) which organised the discussion.</p>
<p>
	With various amendments intended to promote export provisions for industries inside SEZ and assure further tax incentives, the cabinet had endorsed the SEZ Bill last week. The SEZ Bill has been tabled at the Parliament for final approval.</p>
<p>
	Along with reducing the mandatory export provision for industries operating within the SEZ to 60 per cent of their production, the new SEZ Bill also assures 100 per cent income tax waiver for such industries for the first five years and 50 per cent income tax waiver thereafter, SEJON said in a statement.</p>
<p>
	Similarly, the Bill has also reduced the rental fee for industries within SEZ to Rs 20 per square meter per month from Rs 150 per square meter month.</p>
<p>
	Furthermore, the SEZ Bill has also reduced the minimum investment ceiling for industries inside SEZ to Rs 20 million from Rs 50 million.&nbsp;</p>
<p>
	Speaking at the discussion programme, Shankar Sharma, former vice-chairman of the National Planning Commission (NPC) said that though the SEZ Bill has attempted to promote investment inside the SEZs, the government should now focus on effective implementation of the new laws.</p>
<p>
	&ldquo;The new SEZ Bill has addressed some of the key issues raised by investors inside the SEZ. However, it is crucial that the government implements the law properly through enhanced cooperation between the government agencies,&rdquo; said Sharma.</p>
<p>
	Similarly, Toyam Raya, director general at the Department of Customs, said that current laws are contradictory resulting in difficulty in their effective implementation.</p>
<p>
	&ldquo;Thus, the government should ensure that any law should not contradict with another one while formulating them,&rdquo; said Raya.</p>
<p>
	On the occasion, Hara Raj Neupane, deputy managing director of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) assured that the authority is serious in providing necessary power supply in the industrial sector, including the Bhairahawa SEZ.</p>
<p>
	Meanwhile, former Commerce Secretary Purshottam Ojha said that the government should focus on implementing the one-door policy for industries inside SEZs.</p>

	Held under the aegis of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), the symposium focused on helicopter operations, brought together experts from Airbus Helicopters and EASA, customers and industry specialists to discuss ways to further boost aviation safety in Nepal.</p>

	&ldquo;Helicopter operation in Nepal is probably one of the toughest operations in the world due to multiple challenges posed by higher elevation, inhospitable terrain and difficult weather conditions,&rdquo; the statement quoted Sanjiv Gautam, director general of CAAN, as saying.</p>

	&ldquo;This effort of Airbus and EASA is really appreciated by us and we look forward to receiving such safety workshops in the coming days.&rdquo;</p>

	According to the statement, the symposium covered a broad range of subjects, including safety management systems, pre-flight risk assessment, risk mitigation, and root cause analysis of incidents. 	Floriculture Association Nepal (FAN) has stated that the cost of roses is going to be higher this year compared to last year as the demand for rose has risen, RSS said.</p>

	FAN said that the volume of import of roses will see a surge this year due to the increase in demand. The association said that most of the rose stems to be sold on the Valentine&rsquo;s Day are being imported from India.</p>
<p>
	Nepal imported rose worth Rs 12.5 million last year.</p>
<p>
	President of FAN Kumar Kasajoo Shrestha said rose is going to cost a little more this year as its price has gone up in the international market.</p>
<p>
	Roses worth Rs 200 million is traded in the country annually. Shrestha said that domestic production meets 20 percent of the market demand and the rest are imported. Of the total roses imported, more than 60 percent are consumed in the Kathmandu Valley.</p>
<p>
	According to RSS, the price of rose was in the range of Rs 40 to 80 per unit last year. It is expected to reach Rs 50 to 100 this year, a rise of 15 percent.</p>
<p>
	Although a western culture, celebration of the Valentine&rsquo;s Day has become a fad in the country in recent years. The Valentine&rsquo;s Day falls on February 14 but generally the youths start celebrating it one week ahead.</p>
<p>
	RSS reported that the floriculture business which started from 2007 BS in Nepal has been flourishing with the growing urbanization.</p>
<p>
	&ldquo;Floriculture business and nurseries have been growing with the growing demand for flowers. There are around 675 floriculture nurseries in 41 districts especially in Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Kaski, Chitwan, Makwanpur, Kavrepalanchok, Gulmi, Palpa, Dhading, Morang among other districts.&rdquo;</p>

	&ldquo;CBIC has already issued such directive and the Kolkata Customs Office will issue the notice within a few days,&rdquo; he told NBA.</p>

	Addressing a roundtable discussion in the capital on Thursday regarding the &lsquo;problems faced by industries inside the Bhairahawa SEZ,&rsquo; the stakeholders said that the government&rsquo;s decision to reduce the compulsory export provision for industries inside SEZ to 60 per cent from the existing 75 per cent is investment-friendly and will encourage the private sector towards investing in such protected zones of the government, according to the Society of Economic Journalists of Nepal (SEJON) which organised the discussion.</p>
<p>
	With various amendments intended to promote export provisions for industries inside SEZ and assure further tax incentives, the cabinet had endorsed the SEZ Bill last week. The SEZ Bill has been tabled at the Parliament for final approval.</p>
<p>
	Along with reducing the mandatory export provision for industries operating within the SEZ to 60 per cent of their production, the new SEZ Bill also assures 100 per cent income tax waiver for such industries for the first five years and 50 per cent income tax waiver thereafter, SEJON said in a statement.</p>
<p>
	Similarly, the Bill has also reduced the rental fee for industries within SEZ to Rs 20 per square meter per month from Rs 150 per square meter month.</p>
<p>
	Furthermore, the SEZ Bill has also reduced the minimum investment ceiling for industries inside SEZ to Rs 20 million from Rs 50 million.&nbsp;</p>
<p>
	Speaking at the discussion programme, Shankar Sharma, former vice-chairman of the National Planning Commission (NPC) said that though the SEZ Bill has attempted to promote investment inside the SEZs, the government should now focus on effective implementation of the new laws.</p>
<p>
	&ldquo;The new SEZ Bill has addressed some of the key issues raised by investors inside the SEZ. However, it is crucial that the government implements the law properly through enhanced cooperation between the government agencies,&rdquo; said Sharma.</p>
<p>
	Similarly, Toyam Raya, director general at the Department of Customs, said that current laws are contradictory resulting in difficulty in their effective implementation.</p>
<p>
	&ldquo;Thus, the government should ensure that any law should not contradict with another one while formulating them,&rdquo; said Raya.</p>
<p>
	On the occasion, Hara Raj Neupane, deputy managing director of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) assured that the authority is serious in providing necessary power supply in the industrial sector, including the Bhairahawa SEZ.</p>
<p>
	Meanwhile, former Commerce Secretary Purshottam Ojha said that the government should focus on implementing the one-door policy for industries inside SEZs.</p>

	January 25: Radisson Hotel Kathmandu has bagged the Best Presented Annual Report Award in service sector among all the SAARC countries at the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) Award organised by the apex body of accountants in SAARC countries.</div>
