	February 4: The aquatic creatures in the rivers and streams of Narchyang of Annapurna Rural Municipality-4 in Myagdi district are facing the threat of extinction in the recent time. According to the locals, the aquatic animals in the rivers lack safe habitat following the ongoing construction works of hydropower projects and environmental imbalance in Narchyang along the Annapurna Trail, a renowned trekking route.</p>
<p>
	Different species of fish, crabs, worms and other water animals are gradually vanishing in the rivers in the recent years, the locals shared.</p>
<p>
	According to Rastriiya Samachar Samiti (RSS), the local residents further shared that the quality of arable land on the banks of rivers has also degraded due to environmental imbalance caused due to the extinction of the aquatic and other creatures.</p>
<p>
	The rivers and forests around Narchyang are regarded as the safe habitat for aquatic and wild animals. But, the ongoing development work for large number of hydropower projects in the rivers here has left the creatures on the verge of crisis, said Shiva Purja, an official working with environment unit of Mistrikhola Hydropower Project.</p>
<p>
	RSS reported that currently five hydel projects of 157 megawatt are under construction in Narchyang and the rivers here are the major source of water for those hydel projects.</p>
<p>
	Ward Chairman of Annapurna Rural Municipality-4 Chandra Prasad Phagami said that different types of water animals, butterflies, plants and birds have gradually vanished from the sites with the construction of the hydropower projects.</p>
<p>
	Phagami said that though the hydropower projects have created job opportunities for the local residents here, they are unhappy with the degradation of natural heritages despite physical gains.</p>

	The protest of clearing agents in Kolkata had disrupted the movement of containers. As a result, the Nepal-bound cargo shipments were stranded at the Kolkota Port.</p>
<p>
	The agents said that they were not in favour of obstructing the goods but had staged the protest to seek assurance that they would get their dues at the earliest. The customs house agents of India, who have been working as the representatives of Nepali importers in clearing goods from the docks, say they owe at total of Rs 8 billion from the importers.</p>
<p>
	The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) of India had decided to apply the electronic tracking system (ETS) on the containers of Nepali importers at the Kolkata Port effective from February 15.</p>
<p>
	After the provision is implemented, the agents are not required at the port.</p>

	The 25th edition of six-day CAN Info-tech held at Bhrikutimandap in the capital had showcased the use of drugs transportation drones, distance learning, smart home and technological uses in agriculture sector.</p>

	The fair sponsored by Subisu in association with e-Sewa also exhibited innovative ICT technology and equipment, new software, security instruments and home-grown technological innovations of Nepal.</p>

	Hementa Chaurasiya, chair of CAN, shared that the rationale behind the fair has been validated by the surge in the production and development of Nepali technology.</p>

According to NAC Deputy Spokesperson Nawaraj Koirala, its new A 330 wide-body aircraft was granted the AOC for Kathmandu-Osaka flights on Friday, January 31.</p>

	Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) reported that the NAC would very soon seek permission from the aviation regulating body of Japan towards that end. It plans to launch the Kathmandu-Osaka flights in in a month&rsquo;s time.</p>
<p>
	RSS said that the national flag carrier of Nepal dreams of operating the Kathmandu-China flights as well by the end of March. The NAC has already managed human resources to handle the flights in both the destinations, RSS further said.</p>
<p>
	NAC has been currently operating international flights to New Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Malaysia, Singapore, Bangkok and Qatar. According to NAC officials, the state-owned airline is in the process to connect with China, South Korea, and Saudi Arabia with direct flights in the near future.</p>
<p>
	NAC currently owns two wide-body aircraft, two narrow-body aircraft and one Boeing for the operation of international flights.</p>

CHAs started protests from Tuesday upon the call from the Nepal-India Customs House Agent Association.</p>

According to the locals, the aquatic animals in the rivers lack safe habitat following the ongoing construction works of hydropower projects and environmental imbalance in Narchyang along the Annapurna Trail, a renowned trekking route.</p>

	Different species of fish, crabs, worms and other water animals are gradually vanishing in the rivers in the recent years, the locals shared.</p>

	According to Rastriiya Samachar Samiti (RSS), the local residents further shared that the quality of arable land on the banks of rivers has also degraded due to environmental imbalance caused due to the extinction of the aquatic and other creatures.</p>
<p>
	The rivers and forests around Narchyang are regarded as the safe habitat for aquatic and wild animals. But, the ongoing development work for large number of hydropower projects in the rivers here has left the creatures on the verge of crisis, said Shiva Purja, an official working with environment unit of Mistrikhola Hydropower Project.</p>
<p>
	RSS reported that currently five hydel projects of 157 megawatt are under construction in Narchyang and the rivers here are the major source of water for those hydel projects.</p>
<p>
	Ward Chairman of Annapurna Rural Municipality-4 Chandra Prasad Phagami said that different types of water animals, butterflies, plants and birds have gradually vanished from the sites with the construction of the hydropower projects.</p>
<p>
	Phagami said that though the hydropower projects have created job opportunities for the local residents here, they are unhappy with the degradation of natural heritages despite physical gains.</p>

	February 4: CAN Info-tech, an annual fair of information technology, this season attracted around 400,000 visitors, according to the organisers.</p>

	Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) reported that there were as many as 100,000 in the closing day of the six-day event on February 3.</p>
<p>
	Ranjeet Kumar Poddar, general secretary of Computer Association of Nepal (CAN), confirmed that there was encouraging presence of visitors at the information technology fair that kicked off on January 29.</p>
<p>
	The 25th edition of six-day CAN Info-tech held at Bhrikutimandap in the capital had showcased the use of drugs transportation drones, distance learning, smart home and technological uses in agriculture sector.</p>
<p>
	The fair sponsored by Subisu in association with e-Sewa also exhibited innovative ICT technology and equipment, new software, security instruments and home-grown technological innovations of Nepal.</p>
<p>
	Hementa Chaurasiya, chair of CAN, shared that the rationale behind the fair has been validated by the surge in the production and development of Nepali technology.</p>
<p>
	According to RSS, arrangement was made for the government school students, senior citizens and people with disability to visit the fair free of cost.</p>

	RSS said that the national flag carrier of Nepal dreams of operating the Kathmandu-China flights as well by the end of March. The NAC has already managed human resources to handle the flights in both the destinations, RSS further said.</p>

	NAC has been currently operating international flights to New Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Malaysia, Singapore, Bangkok and Qatar. According to NAC officials, the state-owned airline is in the process to connect with China, South Korea, and Saudi Arabia with direct flights in the near future.</p>

	NAC currently owns two wide-body aircraft, two narrow-body aircraft and one Boeing for the operation of international flights.</p>

According to the locals, the aquatic animals in the rivers lack safe habitat following the ongoing construction works of hydropower projects and environmental imbalance in Narchyang along the Annapurna Trail, a renowned trekking route.</p>

	Different species of fish, crabs, worms and other water animals are gradually vanishing in the rivers in the recent years, the locals shared.</p>

	According to Rastriiya Samachar Samiti (RSS), the local residents further shared that the quality of arable land on the banks of rivers has also degraded due to environmental imbalance caused due to the extinction of the aquatic and other creatures.</p>
<p>
	The rivers and forests around Narchyang are regarded as the safe habitat for aquatic and wild animals. But, the ongoing development work for large number of hydropower projects in the rivers here has left the creatures on the verge of crisis, said Shiva Purja, an official working with environment unit of Mistrikhola Hydropower Project.</p>
<p>
	RSS reported that currently five hydel projects of 157 megawatt are under construction in Narchyang and the rivers here are the major source of water for those hydel projects.</p>
<p>
	Ward Chairman of Annapurna Rural Municipality-4 Chandra Prasad Phagami said that different types of water animals, butterflies, plants and birds have gradually vanished from the sites with the construction of the hydropower projects.</p>
<p>
	Phagami said that though the hydropower projects have created job opportunities for the local residents here, they are unhappy with the degradation of natural heritages despite physical gains.</p>

According to the statement, the remaining 14 municipalities were opened in rural municipalities across the country.</p>

The customs house agents of India, who have been working as the representatives of Nepali importers in clearing goods from the docks, say they owe at total of Rs 8 billion from the importers.</p>

	The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) of India had decided to apply the electronic tracking system (ETS) on the containers of Nepali importers at the Kolkata Port effective from February 15.</p>
<p>
	After the provision is implemented, the agents are not required at the port.</p>

	Different species of fish, crabs, worms and other water animals are gradually vanishing in the rivers in the recent years, the locals shared.</p>

	According to Rastriiya Samachar Samiti (RSS), the local residents further shared that the quality of arable land on the banks of rivers has also degraded due to environmental imbalance caused due to the extinction of the aquatic and other creatures.</p>
<p>
	The rivers and forests around Narchyang are regarded as the safe habitat for aquatic and wild animals. But, the ongoing development work for large number of hydropower projects in the rivers here has left the creatures on the verge of crisis, said Shiva Purja, an official working with environment unit of Mistrikhola Hydropower Project.</p>
<p>
	RSS reported that currently five hydel projects of 157 megawatt are under construction in Narchyang and the rivers here are the major source of water for those hydel projects.</p>
<p>
	Ward Chairman of Annapurna Rural Municipality-4 Chandra Prasad Phagami said that different types of water animals, butterflies, plants and birds have gradually vanished from the sites with the construction of the hydropower projects.</p>
<p>
	Phagami said that though the hydropower projects have created job opportunities for the local residents here, they are unhappy with the degradation of natural heritages despite physical gains.</p>

	The agents said that they were not in favour of obstructing the goods but had staged the protest to seek assurance that they would get their dues at the earliest. The customs house agents of India, who have been working as the representatives of Nepali importers in clearing goods from the docks, say they owe at total of Rs 8 billion from the importers.</p>
<p>
	The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) of India had decided to apply the electronic tracking system (ETS) on the containers of Nepali importers at the Kolkata Port effective from February 15.</p>
<p>
	After the provision is implemented, the agents are not required at the port.</p>

	RSS said that the national flag carrier of Nepal dreams of operating the Kathmandu-China flights as well by the end of March. The NAC has already managed human resources to handle the flights in both the destinations, RSS further said.</p>
