			'content' => '<p><span style="font-size:13px">December 18: The World Bank has approved USD 300 million in additional finance for the Earthquake Housing Reconstruction Project. This supplements a USD 200 million credit approved by the bank on June 29, 2015, reads a recent statement issued by the bank.</span></p>

<p>The bank said that the additional finance will help the Government of Nepal meet a share of the financing gap in its housing reconstruction program under implementation following the devastating earthquakes of 2015. The impact of those earthquakes is estimated at 35 percent of Nepal&rsquo;s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) with recovery needs of about USD 7 billion.</p>

<p>From a preliminary estimate of 500,000 households in 2015, the total number of eligible and enrolled beneficiaries has increased to 650,000 households. The government has also increased the housing grant to Rs 300,000 per household from the earlier Rs 200,000 to reflect increased construction costs.&nbsp; With these updates, the financing gap in the government&rsquo;s housing reconstruction program has widened to over USD 1.2 billion.</p>

<p>According to the World Bank, the additional credit will finance hazard-resistant reconstruction of an additional 96,000 houses. The original bank credit covers the reconstruction of 55,000 houses. Over 73,706 houses have been reconstructed till date. Reconstruction has started with another 177,000 houses.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Nepal requires critical investments in resilient recovery,&rdquo; said Takuya Kamata, the World Bank&rsquo;s country manager for Nepal.&nbsp; &ldquo;This will help avoid new disaster risks and ensure Nepal&rsquo;s continued progress in key development indicators.&nbsp; Such investments will also strengthen disaster preparedness and improve the capacity to respond,&rdquo; he said.</p>

<p>With the additional finance, the Earthquake Housing Reconstruction Project will continue to transfer the housing grants directly to the bank accounts of beneficiaries.</p>

<p>&ldquo;This remains a key principle in order to ensure that the right beneficiary gets the right tranche amount upon verification,&rdquo; said Kamran Akbar, senior disaster risk management specialist at the World Bank.</p>

<p>A World Bank administered Multi-Donor Trust Fund (MDTF) supports the implementation of the Earthquake Housing Reconstruction Project.&nbsp; Other MDTF partners include the US, the UK, Switzerland and Canada.&nbsp; Japan and India also provide parallel financing to support housing reconstruction.</p>

From the start of the coming Nepali New Year, the movement of such vehicles will be banned by the Department of Transport Management (DoTM).</span></p>

<p>If the government succeeds in implementing this rule, then a total of 10,000 vehicles will not be able to ply the roads. The department will not give route permit to such vehicles, and if found running on the road, it will take action against such vehicles. As per the current provision, public vehicles should renew the route permit in every four months.</p>

<p>The government believes that doing this will stop the sale of old vehicles. Spokesperson of DoTM &nbsp;Dr Tokraj Pandey said that stopping the movement of these vehicles will stop road accidents and reduce air pollution.</p>

<p>The government has already stopped the vehicular movement of vehicles older than 20 years in the Kathmandu Valley. After such move, those vehicles started to run in different rural areas of the country. Meanwhile, this provision is not applicable for electric tempos and micro buses.&nbsp;</p>

The Ministry of Finance (MoF) has not agreed to the decision, according to the Ministry of Supplies.</span></p>

<p>The Ministry of Supplies said that the finance ministry has not taken the issue seriously. &ldquo;Though the MoS had mailed MoF in October, 2016, there has not been any discussion so far,&rdquo; stated MoS.</p>

<p>According to MoS, the file on the subject to allow NTL to enter into petroleum trading was forwarded to the council of ministers. But the council of ministers had demanded approval from MoF. MoS official Urmila KC said, &ldquo;Despite such attempts, the finance ministry is reluctant to initiate the discussion.&rdquo;</p>

<p>MoF stated that the attempt to discuss the subject with concerned officials at MoS has been unsuccessful. NTL&rsquo;s failure to establish itself as a successful corporation and lack of employees in the current situation have stood as the obstacle to hand over such huge responsibility to NTL. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>Importing petroleum products from northern neighbor is a big issue. So, the ministry is looking if NTL can handle such responsibility or not, said a source at the Ministry of Finance. Likewise, MoF also said that the issue was out of discussion because of the elections in the country.</p>

<p>The government should also work on maintaining the infrastructure of the country if it is to import petroleum products to be imported from China.</p>

<p>After facing huge loss, the staffers of National Trading were given voluntary retirement.</p>

The riders took the route of Balaju-Swoyambhu-Kalanki-Naikap-Balambhu-Dahachowk-Nagdhunga Checkpost-Naubidhe-Dharke-Malekhu-Mugling-Dumre-Bandipur and returned the same route. All the participants were provided with certificate of appreciation by the company.</p>

<p>Likewise, the company also organized different games such as helmet tower, tug-of-war, flip cup at Bandipur. This supplements a USD 200 million credit approved by the bank on June 29, 2015, reads a recent statement issued by the bank.</span></p>

<p>The bank said that the additional finance will help the Government of Nepal meet a share of the financing gap in its housing reconstruction program under implementation following the devastating earthquakes of 2015. The impact of those earthquakes is estimated at 35 percent of Nepal&rsquo;s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) with recovery needs of about USD 7 billion.</p>

<p>From a preliminary estimate of 500,000 households in 2015, the total number of eligible and enrolled beneficiaries has increased to 650,000 households. The government has also increased the housing grant to Rs 300,000 per household from the earlier Rs 200,000 to reflect increased construction costs.&nbsp; With these updates, the financing gap in the government&rsquo;s housing reconstruction program has widened to over USD 1.2 billion.</p>

<p>According to the World Bank, the additional credit will finance hazard-resistant reconstruction of an additional 96,000 houses. The original bank credit covers the reconstruction of 55,000 houses. Over 73,706 houses have been reconstructed till date. Reconstruction has started with another 177,000 houses.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Nepal requires critical investments in resilient recovery,&rdquo; said Takuya Kamata, the World Bank&rsquo;s country manager for Nepal.&nbsp; &ldquo;This will help avoid new disaster risks and ensure Nepal&rsquo;s continued progress in key development indicators.&nbsp; Such investments will also strengthen disaster preparedness and improve the capacity to respond,&rdquo; he said.</p>

<p>With the additional finance, the Earthquake Housing Reconstruction Project will continue to transfer the housing grants directly to the bank accounts of beneficiaries.</p>

<p>&ldquo;This remains a key principle in order to ensure that the right beneficiary gets the right tranche amount upon verification,&rdquo; said Kamran Akbar, senior disaster risk management specialist at the World Bank.</p>

<p>A World Bank administered Multi-Donor Trust Fund (MDTF) supports the implementation of the Earthquake Housing Reconstruction Project.&nbsp; Other MDTF partners include the US, the UK, Switzerland and Canada.&nbsp; Japan and India also provide parallel financing to support housing reconstruction.</p>

<p>If the government succeeds in implementing this rule, then a total of 10,000 vehicles will not be able to ply the roads. The department will not give route permit to such vehicles, and if found running on the road, it will take action against such vehicles. As per the current provision, public vehicles should renew the route permit in every four months.</p>

<p>The government believes that doing this will stop the sale of old vehicles. Spokesperson of DoTM &nbsp;Dr Tokraj Pandey said that stopping the movement of these vehicles will stop road accidents and reduce air pollution.</p>

<p>The government has already stopped the vehicular movement of vehicles older than 20 years in the Kathmandu Valley. After such move, those vehicles started to run in different rural areas of the country. Meanwhile, this provision is not applicable for electric tempos and micro buses.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Ministry of Supplies said that the finance ministry has not taken the issue seriously. &ldquo;Though the MoS had mailed MoF in October, 2016, there has not been any discussion so far,&rdquo; stated MoS.</p>

<p>According to MoS, the file on the subject to allow NTL to enter into petroleum trading was forwarded to the council of ministers. But the council of ministers had demanded approval from MoF. MoS official Urmila KC said, &ldquo;Despite such attempts, the finance ministry is reluctant to initiate the discussion.&rdquo;</p>

<p>MoF stated that the attempt to discuss the subject with concerned officials at MoS has been unsuccessful. NTL&rsquo;s failure to establish itself as a successful corporation and lack of employees in the current situation have stood as the obstacle to hand over such huge responsibility to NTL. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>Importing petroleum products from northern neighbor is a big issue. So, the ministry is looking if NTL can handle such responsibility or not, said a source at the Ministry of Finance. Likewise, MoF also said that the issue was out of discussion because of the elections in the country.</p>

<p>The government should also work on maintaining the infrastructure of the country if it is to import petroleum products to be imported from China.</p>

<p>After facing huge loss, the staffers of National Trading were given voluntary retirement.</p>

This supplements a USD 200 million credit approved by the bank on June 29, 2015, reads a recent statement issued by the bank.</span></p>

<p>The bank said that the additional finance will help the Government of Nepal meet a share of the financing gap in its housing reconstruction program under implementation following the devastating earthquakes of 2015. The impact of those earthquakes is estimated at 35 percent of Nepal&rsquo;s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) with recovery needs of about USD 7 billion.</p>

<p>From a preliminary estimate of 500,000 households in 2015, the total number of eligible and enrolled beneficiaries has increased to 650,000 households. The government has also increased the housing grant to Rs 300,000 per household from the earlier Rs 200,000 to reflect increased construction costs.&nbsp; With these updates, the financing gap in the government&rsquo;s housing reconstruction program has widened to over USD 1.2 billion.</p>

<p>According to the World Bank, the additional credit will finance hazard-resistant reconstruction of an additional 96,000 houses. The original bank credit covers the reconstruction of 55,000 houses. Over 73,706 houses have been reconstructed till date. Reconstruction has started with another 177,000 houses.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Nepal requires critical investments in resilient recovery,&rdquo; said Takuya Kamata, the World Bank&rsquo;s country manager for Nepal.&nbsp; &ldquo;This will help avoid new disaster risks and ensure Nepal&rsquo;s continued progress in key development indicators.&nbsp; Such investments will also strengthen disaster preparedness and improve the capacity to respond,&rdquo; he said.</p>

<p>With the additional finance, the Earthquake Housing Reconstruction Project will continue to transfer the housing grants directly to the bank accounts of beneficiaries.</p>

<p>&ldquo;This remains a key principle in order to ensure that the right beneficiary gets the right tranche amount upon verification,&rdquo; said Kamran Akbar, senior disaster risk management specialist at the World Bank.</p>

<p>A World Bank administered Multi-Donor Trust Fund (MDTF) supports the implementation of the Earthquake Housing Reconstruction Project.&nbsp; Other MDTF partners include the US, the UK, Switzerland and Canada.&nbsp; Japan and India also provide parallel financing to support housing reconstruction.</p>

<p>If the government succeeds in implementing this rule, then a total of 10,000 vehicles will not be able to ply the roads. The department will not give route permit to such vehicles, and if found running on the road, it will take action against such vehicles. As per the current provision, public vehicles should renew the route permit in every four months.</p>

<p>The government believes that doing this will stop the sale of old vehicles. Spokesperson of DoTM &nbsp;Dr Tokraj Pandey said that stopping the movement of these vehicles will stop road accidents and reduce air pollution.</p>

<p>The government has already stopped the vehicular movement of vehicles older than 20 years in the Kathmandu Valley. After such move, those vehicles started to run in different rural areas of the country. Meanwhile, this provision is not applicable for electric tempos and micro buses.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Ministry of Supplies said that the finance ministry has not taken the issue seriously. &ldquo;Though the MoS had mailed MoF in October, 2016, there has not been any discussion so far,&rdquo; stated MoS.</p>

<p>According to MoS, the file on the subject to allow NTL to enter into petroleum trading was forwarded to the council of ministers. But the council of ministers had demanded approval from MoF. MoS official Urmila KC said, &ldquo;Despite such attempts, the finance ministry is reluctant to initiate the discussion.&rdquo;</p>

<p>MoF stated that the attempt to discuss the subject with concerned officials at MoS has been unsuccessful. NTL&rsquo;s failure to establish itself as a successful corporation and lack of employees in the current situation have stood as the obstacle to hand over such huge responsibility to NTL. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>Importing petroleum products from northern neighbor is a big issue. So, the ministry is looking if NTL can handle such responsibility or not, said a source at the Ministry of Finance. Likewise, MoF also said that the issue was out of discussion because of the elections in the country.</p>

<p>The government should also work on maintaining the infrastructure of the country if it is to import petroleum products to be imported from China.</p>

<p>After facing huge loss, the staffers of National Trading were given voluntary retirement.</p>

This supplements a USD 200 million credit approved by the bank on June 29, 2015, reads a recent statement issued by the bank.</span></p>

<p>The bank said that the additional finance will help the Government of Nepal meet a share of the financing gap in its housing reconstruction program under implementation following the devastating earthquakes of 2015. The impact of those earthquakes is estimated at 35 percent of Nepal&rsquo;s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) with recovery needs of about USD 7 billion.</p>

<p>From a preliminary estimate of 500,000 households in 2015, the total number of eligible and enrolled beneficiaries has increased to 650,000 households. The government has also increased the housing grant to Rs 300,000 per household from the earlier Rs 200,000 to reflect increased construction costs.&nbsp; With these updates, the financing gap in the government&rsquo;s housing reconstruction program has widened to over USD 1.2 billion.</p>

<p>According to the World Bank, the additional credit will finance hazard-resistant reconstruction of an additional 96,000 houses. The original bank credit covers the reconstruction of 55,000 houses. Over 73,706 houses have been reconstructed till date. Reconstruction has started with another 177,000 houses.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Nepal requires critical investments in resilient recovery,&rdquo; said Takuya Kamata, the World Bank&rsquo;s country manager for Nepal.&nbsp; &ldquo;This will help avoid new disaster risks and ensure Nepal&rsquo;s continued progress in key development indicators.&nbsp; Such investments will also strengthen disaster preparedness and improve the capacity to respond,&rdquo; he said.</p>

<p>With the additional finance, the Earthquake Housing Reconstruction Project will continue to transfer the housing grants directly to the bank accounts of beneficiaries.</p>

<p>&ldquo;This remains a key principle in order to ensure that the right beneficiary gets the right tranche amount upon verification,&rdquo; said Kamran Akbar, senior disaster risk management specialist at the World Bank.</p>

<p>A World Bank administered Multi-Donor Trust Fund (MDTF) supports the implementation of the Earthquake Housing Reconstruction Project.&nbsp; Other MDTF partners include the US, the UK, Switzerland and Canada.&nbsp; Japan and India also provide parallel financing to support housing reconstruction.</p>

<p>If the government succeeds in implementing this rule, then a total of 10,000 vehicles will not be able to ply the roads. The department will not give route permit to such vehicles, and if found running on the road, it will take action against such vehicles. As per the current provision, public vehicles should renew the route permit in every four months.</p>

<p>The government believes that doing this will stop the sale of old vehicles. Spokesperson of DoTM &nbsp;Dr Tokraj Pandey said that stopping the movement of these vehicles will stop road accidents and reduce air pollution.</p>

<p>The government has already stopped the vehicular movement of vehicles older than 20 years in the Kathmandu Valley. After such move, those vehicles started to run in different rural areas of the country. Meanwhile, this provision is not applicable for electric tempos and micro buses.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to MoS, the file on the subject to allow NTL to enter into petroleum trading was forwarded to the council of ministers. But the council of ministers had demanded approval from MoF. MoS official Urmila KC said, &ldquo;Despite such attempts, the finance ministry is reluctant to initiate the discussion.&rdquo;</p>

<p>MoF stated that the attempt to discuss the subject with concerned officials at MoS has been unsuccessful. NTL&rsquo;s failure to establish itself as a successful corporation and lack of employees in the current situation have stood as the obstacle to hand over such huge responsibility to NTL. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>Importing petroleum products from northern neighbor is a big issue. So, the ministry is looking if NTL can handle such responsibility or not, said a source at the Ministry of Finance. Likewise, MoF also said that the issue was out of discussion because of the elections in the country.</p>

<p>The government should also work on maintaining the infrastructure of the country if it is to import petroleum products to be imported from China.</p>

Vivek Automobiles, the authorized distributor of Royal Enfield, organized the two-day ride with the theme &lsquo;Ride More, Ride Pure&rsquo;.</span></p>

<p>The ride was organised for the promotion of motorcycle tourism as well as promoting Bandipur city, which is enlisted in the World Heritage Site. Similarly, the company also aims to attract tourism entrepreneurs for the development of motor sports.</p>

<p>According to Megha Raj Poudyal, head of operation department of Royal Enfield, &nbsp;the company organized the ride to build relation with the customers and for their delight as well. &nbsp;&ldquo;Our country has huge potential in adventure tourism and this event is one of them,&rdquo; Poudyal said, adding, &ldquo;We organized this event upon observing the immense potential of adventure tourism.&rdquo;</p>

<p>He also believes in developing bond among the customers through events like this.</p>

<p>A total of 55 riders covered a journey 280 km during the ride. The riders took the route of Balaju-Swoyambhu-Kalanki-Naikap-Balambhu-Dahachowk-Nagdhunga Checkpost-Naubidhe-Dharke-Malekhu-Mugling-Dumre-Bandipur and returned the same route. All the participants were provided with certificate of appreciation by the company.</p>

<p>Likewise, the company also organized different games such as helmet tower, tug-of-war, flip cup at Bandipur. Purna Singh Thapa, chairman of Bandipur Ruralr municipality awarded the winners of the games. He expressed hope that this kind of event can help in promotion of tourism in Bandipur.&nbsp;</p>
