<p>The government records show that there were 18,000 businessmen involved in import and export of goods before the government introduced this mandatory provision for ExIm code.</p>

<p>Earlier, the government had adopted a policy to promote free trade as the then rules allowed anyone besides the listed entrepreneurs to import or export goods from any customs point of the country.</p>

<p>Tripureshwar-based Customs Department informed that only 6,000 businessmen from across the country have obtained the ExIm code as of July 26.</p>

<p>According to an official at the Customs Department, companies involved in this business for a long time have already obtained the code while those who trade occasionally are in the process of getting the code.</p>

<p>The ExIm code section of the department informed that the code is required shortly before the goods reach the customs point. &ldquo;The code can be obtained as and when it is required. That might be the reason that all the importers and exporters have not taken it so far,&rdquo; said the official requesting not to be named. &nbsp;</p>

<p>The department has made arrangement of providing ExIm code after examining necessary documents and keeping collateral, which will be reclaimed upon the recommendation of the department after the goods are cleared.</p>

<p>The government had introduced the concept of ExIm code as per the Customs Act 2064 to encourage unauthorized trade activities. &nbsp;</p>

<p>In the last FY, collection of income tax increased by 27 percent while VAT and excise duty were up by 23 and 30 percent respectively.</p>

<p>The Inland Revenue Department had set a target of collecting Rs 233.60 billion last year but the total revenue collected was 11 percent more than the target.</p>

<p>Data provided by the IRD on July 26 shows that the highest revenue it collected was Rs 148 billion from income tax. During the one-year period, IRD collected Rs 61.12 billion from VAT. Revenue collection from excise duty was Rs 47.21 billion while education service charge and health service charge were Rs 730.97 million and Rs 860.33 million respectively.</p>

<p>IRD&rsquo;s Director General Kishor Jung Karki said that although they faced tough challenge, the department was able to meet the target due to their relentless efforts.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Food Technology and Standard Maintenance Department under the Ministry of Agriculture had proposed the grant to encourage industries run solely by women. Producers of chips, biscuits, pickles, chocolates among others fall under this category, according to the department&rsquo;s senior food research officer Huma Wakim.</p>

<p>According to Wakim, this program was initiated to encourage women entrepreneurs and to discourage them from seeking foreign employment.</p>

<p>The grant will be provided to women entrepreneurs under various headings including for equipment, building infrastructure, maintaining cleanliness as well as quality and production enhancement.</p>

<p>The process of grant distribution will start after the ministry allocates budget, informed Wakim. According to her, the department will issue a notice one month prior to selecting the factories for grant distribution. However, factories that are in the process of opening cannot apply for the grant this year. A monitoring team formed by the department will carry out field inspection before providing the grant. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>Insurance premium is the amount that the companies charge the insurance policy holders for taking risks. The insurance premium rate is determined after analyzing the probability of profit and other managerial costs depending on the type of insurance policy.</p>

<p>The increase in insurance premium has been attributed to the rise in number of insurance policy holders. The insurance premium earning of non-life insurance companies totaled to Rs 14.93 billion in the fiscal year 2015/16. The earnings reached Rs 19.18 billion in the fiscal year 2015/16.</p>

<p>According to Insurance Board Director Rajuraman Poudel, only 12 percent of the total population of 29.05 million Nepalis have purchased life insurance policy.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Our target is to make insurance accessible to 25 percent of the population,&rdquo; said Poudel, adding that the latest indicator including the increase in number of policy holders suggests that their target is not far away.</p>

<p>According to Poudel, expansion of industries as well as increase in political and financial activities result in increase in the demand for insurance. Poudel expects the demand for insurance to grow in the coming days when the government invests in all 744 local units in the new federal set-up.</p>

<p>The government records show that there were 18,000 businessmen involved in import and export of goods before the government introduced this mandatory provision for ExIm code.</p>

<p>Earlier, the government had adopted a policy to promote free trade as the then rules allowed anyone besides the listed entrepreneurs to import or export goods from any customs point of the country.</p>

<p>Tripureshwar-based Customs Department informed that only 6,000 businessmen from across the country have obtained the ExIm code as of July 26.</p>

<p>According to an official at the Customs Department, companies involved in this business for a long time have already obtained the code while those who trade occasionally are in the process of getting the code.</p>

<p>The ExIm code section of the department informed that the code is required shortly before the goods reach the customs point. &ldquo;The code can be obtained as and when it is required. That might be the reason that all the importers and exporters have not taken it so far,&rdquo; said the official requesting not to be named. &nbsp;</p>

<p>The department has made arrangement of providing ExIm code after examining necessary documents and keeping collateral, which will be reclaimed upon the recommendation of the department after the goods are cleared.</p>

<p>The government had introduced the concept of ExIm code as per the Customs Act 2064 to encourage unauthorized trade activities. &nbsp;</p>

<p>In the last FY, collection of income tax increased by 27 percent while VAT and excise duty were up by 23 and 30 percent respectively.</p>

<p>The Inland Revenue Department had set a target of collecting Rs 233.60 billion last year but the total revenue collected was 11 percent more than the target.</p>

<p>Data provided by the IRD on July 26 shows that the highest revenue it collected was Rs 148 billion from income tax. During the one-year period, IRD collected Rs 61.12 billion from VAT. Revenue collection from excise duty was Rs 47.21 billion while education service charge and health service charge were Rs 730.97 million and Rs 860.33 million respectively.</p>

<p>IRD&rsquo;s Director General Kishor Jung Karki said that although they faced tough challenge, the department was able to meet the target due to their relentless efforts.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Food Technology and Standard Maintenance Department under the Ministry of Agriculture had proposed the grant to encourage industries run solely by women. Producers of chips, biscuits, pickles, chocolates among others fall under this category, according to the department&rsquo;s senior food research officer Huma Wakim.</p>

<p>According to Wakim, this program was initiated to encourage women entrepreneurs and to discourage them from seeking foreign employment.</p>

<p>The grant will be provided to women entrepreneurs under various headings including for equipment, building infrastructure, maintaining cleanliness as well as quality and production enhancement.</p>

<p>The process of grant distribution will start after the ministry allocates budget, informed Wakim. According to her, the department will issue a notice one month prior to selecting the factories for grant distribution. However, factories that are in the process of opening cannot apply for the grant this year. A monitoring team formed by the department will carry out field inspection before providing the grant. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>Insurance premium is the amount that the companies charge the insurance policy holders for taking risks. The insurance premium rate is determined after analyzing the probability of profit and other managerial costs depending on the type of insurance policy.</p>

<p>The increase in insurance premium has been attributed to the rise in number of insurance policy holders. The insurance premium earning of non-life insurance companies totaled to Rs 14.93 billion in the fiscal year 2015/16. The earnings reached Rs 19.18 billion in the fiscal year 2015/16.</p>

<p>According to Insurance Board Director Rajuraman Poudel, only 12 percent of the total population of 29.05 million Nepalis have purchased life insurance policy.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Our target is to make insurance accessible to 25 percent of the population,&rdquo; said Poudel, adding that the latest indicator including the increase in number of policy holders suggests that their target is not far away.</p>

<p>According to Poudel, expansion of industries as well as increase in political and financial activities result in increase in the demand for insurance. Poudel expects the demand for insurance to grow in the coming days when the government invests in all 744 local units in the new federal set-up.</p>

<p>The government records show that there were 18,000 businessmen involved in import and export of goods before the government introduced this mandatory provision for ExIm code.</p>

<p>Earlier, the government had adopted a policy to promote free trade as the then rules allowed anyone besides the listed entrepreneurs to import or export goods from any customs point of the country.</p>

<p>Tripureshwar-based Customs Department informed that only 6,000 businessmen from across the country have obtained the ExIm code as of July 26.</p>

<p>According to an official at the Customs Department, companies involved in this business for a long time have already obtained the code while those who trade occasionally are in the process of getting the code.</p>

<p>The ExIm code section of the department informed that the code is required shortly before the goods reach the customs point. &ldquo;The code can be obtained as and when it is required. That might be the reason that all the importers and exporters have not taken it so far,&rdquo; said the official requesting not to be named. &nbsp;</p>

<p>The department has made arrangement of providing ExIm code after examining necessary documents and keeping collateral, which will be reclaimed upon the recommendation of the department after the goods are cleared.</p>

<p>The government had introduced the concept of ExIm code as per the Customs Act 2064 to encourage unauthorized trade activities. &nbsp;</p>

<p>In the last FY, collection of income tax increased by 27 percent while VAT and excise duty were up by 23 and 30 percent respectively.</p>

<p>The Inland Revenue Department had set a target of collecting Rs 233.60 billion last year but the total revenue collected was 11 percent more than the target.</p>

<p>Data provided by the IRD on July 26 shows that the highest revenue it collected was Rs 148 billion from income tax. During the one-year period, IRD collected Rs 61.12 billion from VAT. Revenue collection from excise duty was Rs 47.21 billion while education service charge and health service charge were Rs 730.97 million and Rs 860.33 million respectively.</p>

<p>IRD&rsquo;s Director General Kishor Jung Karki said that although they faced tough challenge, the department was able to meet the target due to their relentless efforts.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Food Technology and Standard Maintenance Department under the Ministry of Agriculture had proposed the grant to encourage industries run solely by women. Producers of chips, biscuits, pickles, chocolates among others fall under this category, according to the department&rsquo;s senior food research officer Huma Wakim.</p>

<p>According to Wakim, this program was initiated to encourage women entrepreneurs and to discourage them from seeking foreign employment.</p>

<p>The grant will be provided to women entrepreneurs under various headings including for equipment, building infrastructure, maintaining cleanliness as well as quality and production enhancement.</p>

<p>The process of grant distribution will start after the ministry allocates budget, informed Wakim. According to her, the department will issue a notice one month prior to selecting the factories for grant distribution. However, factories that are in the process of opening cannot apply for the grant this year. A monitoring team formed by the department will carry out field inspection before providing the grant. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>Insurance premium is the amount that the companies charge the insurance policy holders for taking risks. The insurance premium rate is determined after analyzing the probability of profit and other managerial costs depending on the type of insurance policy.</p>

<p>The increase in insurance premium has been attributed to the rise in number of insurance policy holders. The insurance premium earning of non-life insurance companies totaled to Rs 14.93 billion in the fiscal year 2015/16. The earnings reached Rs 19.18 billion in the fiscal year 2015/16.</p>

<p>According to Insurance Board Director Rajuraman Poudel, only 12 percent of the total population of 29.05 million Nepalis have purchased life insurance policy.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Our target is to make insurance accessible to 25 percent of the population,&rdquo; said Poudel, adding that the latest indicator including the increase in number of policy holders suggests that their target is not far away.</p>

<p>According to Poudel, expansion of industries as well as increase in political and financial activities result in increase in the demand for insurance. Poudel expects the demand for insurance to grow in the coming days when the government invests in all 744 local units in the new federal set-up.</p>

<p>The government records show that there were 18,000 businessmen involved in import and export of goods before the government introduced this mandatory provision for ExIm code.</p>

<p>Earlier, the government had adopted a policy to promote free trade as the then rules allowed anyone besides the listed entrepreneurs to import or export goods from any customs point of the country.</p>

<p>Tripureshwar-based Customs Department informed that only 6,000 businessmen from across the country have obtained the ExIm code as of July 26.</p>

<p>According to an official at the Customs Department, companies involved in this business for a long time have already obtained the code while those who trade occasionally are in the process of getting the code.</p>

<p>The ExIm code section of the department informed that the code is required shortly before the goods reach the customs point. &ldquo;The code can be obtained as and when it is required. That might be the reason that all the importers and exporters have not taken it so far,&rdquo; said the official requesting not to be named. &nbsp;</p>

<p>The department has made arrangement of providing ExIm code after examining necessary documents and keeping collateral, which will be reclaimed upon the recommendation of the department after the goods are cleared.</p>

<p>The government had introduced the concept of ExIm code as per the Customs Act 2064 to encourage unauthorized trade activities. &nbsp;</p>

<p>In the last FY, collection of income tax increased by 27 percent while VAT and excise duty were up by 23 and 30 percent respectively.</p>

<p>The Inland Revenue Department had set a target of collecting Rs 233.60 billion last year but the total revenue collected was 11 percent more than the target.</p>

<p>Data provided by the IRD on July 26 shows that the highest revenue it collected was Rs 148 billion from income tax. During the one-year period, IRD collected Rs 61.12 billion from VAT. Revenue collection from excise duty was Rs 47.21 billion while education service charge and health service charge were Rs 730.97 million and Rs 860.33 million respectively.</p>

<p>IRD&rsquo;s Director General Kishor Jung Karki said that although they faced tough challenge, the department was able to meet the target due to their relentless efforts.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Food Technology and Standard Maintenance Department under the Ministry of Agriculture had proposed the grant to encourage industries run solely by women. Producers of chips, biscuits, pickles, chocolates among others fall under this category, according to the department&rsquo;s senior food research officer Huma Wakim.</p>

<p>According to Wakim, this program was initiated to encourage women entrepreneurs and to discourage them from seeking foreign employment.</p>

<p>The grant will be provided to women entrepreneurs under various headings including for equipment, building infrastructure, maintaining cleanliness as well as quality and production enhancement.</p>

<p>The process of grant distribution will start after the ministry allocates budget, informed Wakim. According to her, the department will issue a notice one month prior to selecting the factories for grant distribution. However, factories that are in the process of opening cannot apply for the grant this year. A monitoring team formed by the department will carry out field inspection before providing the grant. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>Insurance premium is the amount that the companies charge the insurance policy holders for taking risks. The insurance premium rate is determined after analyzing the probability of profit and other managerial costs depending on the type of insurance policy.</p>

<p>The increase in insurance premium has been attributed to the rise in number of insurance policy holders. The insurance premium earning of non-life insurance companies totaled to Rs 14.93 billion in the fiscal year 2015/16. The earnings reached Rs 19.18 billion in the fiscal year 2015/16.</p>

<p>According to Insurance Board Director Rajuraman Poudel, only 12 percent of the total population of 29.05 million Nepalis have purchased life insurance policy.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Our target is to make insurance accessible to 25 percent of the population,&rdquo; said Poudel, adding that the latest indicator including the increase in number of policy holders suggests that their target is not far away.</p>

<p>According to Poudel, expansion of industries as well as increase in political and financial activities result in increase in the demand for insurance. Poudel expects the demand for insurance to grow in the coming days when the government invests in all 744 local units in the new federal set-up.</p>
