			'content' => '<p>July 30: Twenty-one companies are preparing to float a total of 53.8 million units of shares in the stock market soon. The companies are getting ready to issue 33.5 million units of shares in Initial Public Offerings (IPOs) and 23.2 million units in Follow-on Public Offerings (FPOs). Out of the 21 companies, 19 have sought permission from the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) while two &ndash; Pokhara Finance and Nepal Hydro Developer &ndash; have already received share issuance permission.</p>

<p>Till date, 21 companies have been permitted by the securities market regulator to issue 54.1 million units of shares worth Rs 12.74 billion. The two companies that have received the permission are yet to issue the shares to the general public.</p>

<p>Pokhara Finance has been permitted to issue 983,682 units of share in FPO at the rate of Rs 220 (Rs 100 minimum and Rs 120 premium) per unit. Likewise, Nepal Hydro Developer has been permitted to float 390,000 &nbsp;units of shares in IPO.</p>

<p>Among the 19 companies seeking permission to issue shares, five have applied for FPO while the remaining 14 the applicants for IPO. Premier Insurance, Butwal Power, Bank of Kathmandu, Nepal Gramin Bikas Bank and NMB Bank are the companies to issue shares in FPOs. Meanwhile, hydropower companies lead the pack of companies preparing to issue shares in IPOs. Twelve of the 14 companies interested in issuing shares in IPOs are hydropower companies.</p>

<p>The process of buying of shares has become convenient after SEBON adopted Applications Supported by Blocked Amount (<em>ASBA</em>)&nbsp;S<em>ystem. Also, the mandatory provision to issue 10 units of shares is likely to encourage small investors to buy shares. </em>&nbsp;</p>

<p>The design for the dry port has been already prepared and the construction works has also started after the government allocated budget for the project in the last fiscal year, informed Laxman Basnet, acting director of Intermodel Transportation Development Committee.</p>

<p>&ldquo;The concerned body has already acquired land for the construction of dry port at Korala Customs Point,&rdquo; said Basnet.</p>

<p>The process to build dry port at Korala was initiated about a decade ago in 2007 but the plan gathered dust due to political upheaval and prolonged transition period.</p>

<p>The customs office has acquired 109 ropanis of land for the dry port, informed Basnet.</p>

<p>The customs office building, storage house and hot room for staff have already been built, according Mustang district&rsquo;s customs chief Shukra Darshan Dhungana.</p>

<p>The construction of 435-kilometer road from Gaidakot to Korala along the Kaligandaki Corridor is being expedited and the work is expected to finish within three years, according to the Kaligandai Corridor Project. Currently, border out posts of Armed Police Force are being set up around Korala while Nepal Army has been setting up barracks in Upper Mustang, informed Basnet.</p>

<p>However, the additional flights will be available only till October 28 as the main purpose of those flights is to ease the flow of Nepali migrant workers returning home for festivals like Dashain and Tihar.</p>

<p>There will be two additional flights from August 3 and eight more by September 2, informed the airlines.</p>

<p>In the first phase, the additional two flights will be operated on Tuesdays and Thursdays while the additional eight flights will take place on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.</p>

<p>Himalayan Airlines&rsquo; administrative &nbsp;officer Bijay Shrestha said that they decided to operate extra flights for the convenience of Nepali migrant workers keeping in mind the large number of people returning home for celebration.&nbsp;</p>

<p>&ldquo;Our Consumer Business Group continued to deliver extraordinary growth, beating the industry average and penetrating high-end markets around the globe. This ongoing growth is testament to the strength of the Huawei brand and the momentum we&rsquo;ve built through delivering premium, market-redefining devices that resonate with today&rsquo;s discerning consumers,&rdquo; the statement quoted Richard Yu, chief executive officer of Huawei&rsquo;s Consumer Business Group, as saying.</p>

<p>In the first quarter of 2017, Huawei&rsquo;s market share rose to 9.8 percent of the global smartphone market, according to industry analysts IDC. This growth was driven by a significant increase in sales of mid-range and high-end smartphones in key geographies, reads the statement.</p>

<p>&ldquo;In Greater China, Huawei laid claim to 22.1 % of the market where shipments increased by 24 percent year-over-year.&nbsp; Huawei also saw rapid growth in smartphone shipment across Europe, reporting 18 percent year-over-year growth with particularly robust performance in Central and Eastern and Nordic Europe,&rdquo; said the statement, adding, &ldquo;The Huawei Consumer Business Group also experienced major breakthroughs in Asia-Pacific markets including Thailand, Malaysia, Japan and South Korea. Russia also grew strongly.&rdquo;</p>

<p>The statement further says that this year-on-year growth was reflected in Huawei&rsquo;s rise as a globally recognized premium brand.</p>

<p>In 2017, Huawei was listed 49th on BrandZ&rsquo;s Top 100 Most Valuable Global Brands while it ranked 88th in Forbes World&rsquo;s Most Valuable Brands and number 40 on the Brand Finance Global 500 Most Valuable Brands lists.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Huawei devices have resonated with global audiences because of our clear commitment to quality, experience and innovation,&rdquo; added Yu.</p>

<p>Huawei claimed that the company is set to grow its expansive retail network, reaching 56,000 retail stores worldwide by the end of 2017 &ndash; an increase from 35,000 in May 2016.</p>

<p>The meeting also recommended the extension of time of the Joint Project Office of Saptakoshi Sunkoshi Investigation for a period of 30 months effective from March 1, 2017.</p>

<p>The JTE has decided to hold the next meeting in February 2018.</p>

<p>But the place started getting&nbsp;a new look after the locals clubs and residents of the area joined hands to form Kantipur Development Committee, which has taken initiative to protect the sites with historical significance and has also removed street vendors who used to occupy the paths unlawfully.</p>

<p>The committee&rsquo;s chairman Deepak Shrestha informed that this campaign has not only helped restore the beauty of the place but also helped in curbing unlawful activities.</p>

<p>Shrestha informed that the initiative was taken with the support of the recently elected people&rsquo;s representatives.</p>

<p>The committee&rsquo;s treasurer Pradeep Joche said that the removal of unlawful street vendors in areas like Kasthamandap of ward-19, Basantapur of ward-23, Hanumandhoka of ward-14, Asan and Machhindrabahal of ward-25, and Bhotahiti of ward-27 has eased the flow of movement of people as well as traffic.</p>

<p>SEBON Chair Rewat Bahadur Karki informed that they will take necessary steps in this fiscal year to enhance the reputation of stock market and to make it reliable. Karki recalled the measures taken by the board for the development of the stock market.</p>

<p>Those measures included three basic works like improvement in trading automation, transfer of name and clearing issue.</p>

<p>According to Karki, the stock market that began from semi-automation in 2064 has adopted a modern approach by 2072. He informed that the Nepali stock market ranks fifth among the south Asian nations in terms of modernization.</p>

<p>He further said that Nepal achieved its long-time dream of getting membership of International Organization of Securities Commission (IOSCO) this year.</p>

			'content' => '<p>July 30: Twenty-one companies are preparing to float a total of 53.8 million units of shares in the stock market soon. The companies are getting ready to issue 33.5 million units of shares in Initial Public Offerings (IPOs) and 23.2 million units in Follow-on Public Offerings (FPOs). Out of the 21 companies, 19 have sought permission from the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) while two &ndash; Pokhara Finance and Nepal Hydro Developer &ndash; have already received share issuance permission.</p>

<p>Till date, 21 companies have been permitted by the securities market regulator to issue 54.1 million units of shares worth Rs 12.74 billion. The two companies that have received the permission are yet to issue the shares to the general public.</p>

<p>Pokhara Finance has been permitted to issue 983,682 units of share in FPO at the rate of Rs 220 (Rs 100 minimum and Rs 120 premium) per unit. Likewise, Nepal Hydro Developer has been permitted to float 390,000 &nbsp;units of shares in IPO.</p>

<p>Among the 19 companies seeking permission to issue shares, five have applied for FPO while the remaining 14 the applicants for IPO. Premier Insurance, Butwal Power, Bank of Kathmandu, Nepal Gramin Bikas Bank and NMB Bank are the companies to issue shares in FPOs. Meanwhile, hydropower companies lead the pack of companies preparing to issue shares in IPOs. Twelve of the 14 companies interested in issuing shares in IPOs are hydropower companies.</p>

<p>The process of buying of shares has become convenient after SEBON adopted Applications Supported by Blocked Amount (<em>ASBA</em>)&nbsp;S<em>ystem. Also, the mandatory provision to issue 10 units of shares is likely to encourage small investors to buy shares. </em>&nbsp;</p>

<p>The design for the dry port has been already prepared and the construction works has also started after the government allocated budget for the project in the last fiscal year, informed Laxman Basnet, acting director of Intermodel Transportation Development Committee.</p>

<p>&ldquo;The concerned body has already acquired land for the construction of dry port at Korala Customs Point,&rdquo; said Basnet.</p>

<p>The process to build dry port at Korala was initiated about a decade ago in 2007 but the plan gathered dust due to political upheaval and prolonged transition period.</p>

<p>The customs office has acquired 109 ropanis of land for the dry port, informed Basnet.</p>

<p>The customs office building, storage house and hot room for staff have already been built, according Mustang district&rsquo;s customs chief Shukra Darshan Dhungana.</p>

<p>The construction of 435-kilometer road from Gaidakot to Korala along the Kaligandaki Corridor is being expedited and the work is expected to finish within three years, according to the Kaligandai Corridor Project. Currently, border out posts of Armed Police Force are being set up around Korala while Nepal Army has been setting up barracks in Upper Mustang, informed Basnet.</p>

<p>However, the additional flights will be available only till October 28 as the main purpose of those flights is to ease the flow of Nepali migrant workers returning home for festivals like Dashain and Tihar.</p>

<p>There will be two additional flights from August 3 and eight more by September 2, informed the airlines.</p>

<p>In the first phase, the additional two flights will be operated on Tuesdays and Thursdays while the additional eight flights will take place on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.</p>

<p>Himalayan Airlines&rsquo; administrative &nbsp;officer Bijay Shrestha said that they decided to operate extra flights for the convenience of Nepali migrant workers keeping in mind the large number of people returning home for celebration.&nbsp;</p>

This ongoing growth is testament to the strength of the Huawei brand and the momentum we&rsquo;ve built through delivering premium, market-redefining devices that resonate with today&rsquo;s discerning consumers,&rdquo; the statement quoted Richard Yu, chief executive officer of Huawei&rsquo;s Consumer Business Group, as saying.</p>

<p>In the first quarter of 2017, Huawei&rsquo;s market share rose to 9.8 percent of the global smartphone market, according to industry analysts IDC. This growth was driven by a significant increase in sales of mid-range and high-end smartphones in key geographies, reads the statement.</p>

<p>&ldquo;In Greater China, Huawei laid claim to 22.1 % of the market where shipments increased by 24 percent year-over-year.&nbsp; Huawei also saw rapid growth in smartphone shipment across Europe, reporting 18 percent year-over-year growth with particularly robust performance in Central and Eastern and Nordic Europe,&rdquo; said the statement, adding, &ldquo;The Huawei Consumer Business Group also experienced major breakthroughs in Asia-Pacific markets including Thailand, Malaysia, Japan and South Korea. Russia also grew strongly.&rdquo;</p>

<p>The statement further says that this year-on-year growth was reflected in Huawei&rsquo;s rise as a globally recognized premium brand.</p>

<p>In 2017, Huawei was listed 49th on BrandZ&rsquo;s Top 100 Most Valuable Global Brands while it ranked 88th in Forbes World&rsquo;s Most Valuable Brands and number 40 on the Brand Finance Global 500 Most Valuable Brands lists.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Huawei devices have resonated with global audiences because of our clear commitment to quality, experience and innovation,&rdquo; added Yu.</p>

<p>Huawei claimed that the company is set to grow its expansive retail network, reaching 56,000 retail stores worldwide by the end of 2017 &ndash; an increase from 35,000 in May 2016.</p>

<p>A press release issued by the Embassy of India states that the Nepalese team was led by Nabin Raj Singh, director general of the Department of Electricity while the Indian teal was led by Pradeep Kumar, member of Central Water Commission of the Government of India.</p>

<p>&ldquo;The meeting reviewed progress made since the 14th meeting of JTE including, follow-up action on decisions taken on various items of 14th meeting of&nbsp; JTE and review of progress made; environmental impact assessment studies; resettlement and rehabilitation plan; design flood studies; Glacier Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF) studies; power potential studies; power system and power evacuation studies; and drilling activities at the Saptakoshi High Dam site,&rdquo; reads the press statement.</p>

<p>The meeting also recommended the extension of time of the Joint Project Office of Saptakoshi Sunkoshi Investigation for a period of 30 months effective from March 1, 2017.</p>

<p>The JTE has decided to hold the next meeting in February 2018.</p>

<p>The old quarter of Kathmandu got a new look with the active participation of the locals along with Kathmandu Metropolitan City, the Department of Archaeology, the local police as well as tourist police.</p>

<p>Efforts are underway to make the narrow roads and market place more systematic, clean and beautiful. Places like Indrachowk, Hasnumandhoka, Asan, Machhindrabahal, Bhotahity, Jamal and Bhimsensthan among other places are being developed into better market places with open spaces.</p>

<p>UNESCO World Heritage Site Basantapur also lies in this area. There are still many quake damaged houses standing with support from wooden logs in the area.</p>

<p>But the place started getting&nbsp;a new look after the locals clubs and residents of the area joined hands to form Kantipur Development Committee, which has taken initiative to protect the sites with historical significance and has also removed street vendors who used to occupy the paths unlawfully.</p>

<p>The committee&rsquo;s chairman Deepak Shrestha informed that this campaign has not only helped restore the beauty of the place but also helped in curbing unlawful activities.</p>

<p>Shrestha informed that the initiative was taken with the support of the recently elected people&rsquo;s representatives.</p>

<p>The committee&rsquo;s treasurer Pradeep Joche said that the removal of unlawful street vendors in areas like Kasthamandap of ward-19, Basantapur of ward-23, Hanumandhoka of ward-14, Asan and Machhindrabahal of ward-25, and Bhotahiti of ward-27 has eased the flow of movement of people as well as traffic.</p>

<p>Proper management and protection of the downtown areas has made it easy for the locals as well as tourists to move around the area, informed Police Inspector Tulasa Khatiwada of the Tourist Police. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

			'content' => '<p>July 30: Twenty-one companies are preparing to float a total of 53.8 million units of shares in the stock market soon. The companies are getting ready to issue 33.5 million units of shares in Initial Public Offerings (IPOs) and 23.2 million units in Follow-on Public Offerings (FPOs). Out of the 21 companies, 19 have sought permission from the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) while two &ndash; Pokhara Finance and Nepal Hydro Developer &ndash; have already received share issuance permission.</p>

<p>Till date, 21 companies have been permitted by the securities market regulator to issue 54.1 million units of shares worth Rs 12.74 billion. The two companies that have received the permission are yet to issue the shares to the general public.</p>

<p>Pokhara Finance has been permitted to issue 983,682 units of share in FPO at the rate of Rs 220 (Rs 100 minimum and Rs 120 premium) per unit. Likewise, Nepal Hydro Developer has been permitted to float 390,000 &nbsp;units of shares in IPO.</p>

<p>Among the 19 companies seeking permission to issue shares, five have applied for FPO while the remaining 14 the applicants for IPO. Premier Insurance, Butwal Power, Bank of Kathmandu, Nepal Gramin Bikas Bank and NMB Bank are the companies to issue shares in FPOs. Meanwhile, hydropower companies lead the pack of companies preparing to issue shares in IPOs. Twelve of the 14 companies interested in issuing shares in IPOs are hydropower companies.</p>

<p>The process of buying of shares has become convenient after SEBON adopted Applications Supported by Blocked Amount (<em>ASBA</em>)&nbsp;S<em>ystem. Also, the mandatory provision to issue 10 units of shares is likely to encourage small investors to buy shares. </em>&nbsp;</p>

<p>&ldquo;The concerned body has already acquired land for the construction of dry port at Korala Customs Point,&rdquo; said Basnet.</p>

<p>The process to build dry port at Korala was initiated about a decade ago in 2007 but the plan gathered dust due to political upheaval and prolonged transition period.</p>

<p>The customs office has acquired 109 ropanis of land for the dry port, informed Basnet.</p>

<p>The customs office building, storage house and hot room for staff have already been built, according Mustang district&rsquo;s customs chief Shukra Darshan Dhungana.</p>

<p>The construction of 435-kilometer road from Gaidakot to Korala along the Kaligandaki Corridor is being expedited and the work is expected to finish within three years, according to the Kaligandai Corridor Project. Currently, border out posts of Armed Police Force are being set up around Korala while Nepal Army has been setting up barracks in Upper Mustang, informed Basnet.</p>

<p>There will be two additional flights from August 3 and eight more by September 2, informed the airlines.</p>

<p>In the first phase, the additional two flights will be operated on Tuesdays and Thursdays while the additional eight flights will take place on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.</p>

<p>Smartphone shipments also rose to 73.01 million, a year-on-year increase of 20.6 percent, reads a press statement issued by the Chinese smartphone brand, Huawei.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Our Consumer Business Group continued to deliver extraordinary growth, beating the industry average and penetrating high-end markets around the globe. This ongoing growth is testament to the strength of the Huawei brand and the momentum we&rsquo;ve built through delivering premium, market-redefining devices that resonate with today&rsquo;s discerning consumers,&rdquo; the statement quoted Richard Yu, chief executive officer of Huawei&rsquo;s Consumer Business Group, as saying.</p>

<p>In the first quarter of 2017, Huawei&rsquo;s market share rose to 9.8 percent of the global smartphone market, according to industry analysts IDC. This growth was driven by a significant increase in sales of mid-range and high-end smartphones in key geographies, reads the statement.</p>

<p>&ldquo;In Greater China, Huawei laid claim to 22.1 % of the market where shipments increased by 24 percent year-over-year.&nbsp; Huawei also saw rapid growth in smartphone shipment across Europe, reporting 18 percent year-over-year growth with particularly robust performance in Central and Eastern and Nordic Europe,&rdquo; said the statement, adding, &ldquo;The Huawei Consumer Business Group also experienced major breakthroughs in Asia-Pacific markets including Thailand, Malaysia, Japan and South Korea. Russia also grew strongly.&rdquo;</p>

<p>The statement further says that this year-on-year growth was reflected in Huawei&rsquo;s rise as a globally recognized premium brand.</p>

<p>In 2017, Huawei was listed 49th on BrandZ&rsquo;s Top 100 Most Valuable Global Brands while it ranked 88th in Forbes World&rsquo;s Most Valuable Brands and number 40 on the Brand Finance Global 500 Most Valuable Brands lists.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Huawei devices have resonated with global audiences because of our clear commitment to quality, experience and innovation,&rdquo; added Yu.</p>

<p>Huawei claimed that the company is set to grow its expansive retail network, reaching 56,000 retail stores worldwide by the end of 2017 &ndash; an increase from 35,000 in May 2016.</p>

<p>&ldquo;The meeting reviewed progress made since the 14th meeting of JTE including, follow-up action on decisions taken on various items of 14th meeting of&nbsp; JTE and review of progress made; environmental impact assessment studies; resettlement and rehabilitation plan; design flood studies; Glacier Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF) studies; power potential studies; power system and power evacuation studies; and drilling activities at the Saptakoshi High Dam site,&rdquo; reads the press statement.</p>

<p>The meeting also recommended the extension of time of the Joint Project Office of Saptakoshi Sunkoshi Investigation for a period of 30 months effective from March 1, 2017.</p>

<p>The JTE has decided to hold the next meeting in February 2018.</p>

<p>The committee&rsquo;s chairman Deepak Shrestha informed that this campaign has not only helped restore the beauty of the place but also helped in curbing unlawful activities.</p>

<p>Shrestha informed that the initiative was taken with the support of the recently elected people&rsquo;s representatives.</p>

<p>The committee&rsquo;s treasurer Pradeep Joche said that the removal of unlawful street vendors in areas like Kasthamandap of ward-19, Basantapur of ward-23, Hanumandhoka of ward-14, Asan and Machhindrabahal of ward-25, and Bhotahiti of ward-27 has eased the flow of movement of people as well as traffic.</p>

			'content' => '<p>July 30: Twenty-one companies are preparing to float a total of 53.8 million units of shares in the stock market soon. The companies are getting ready to issue 33.5 million units of shares in Initial Public Offerings (IPOs) and 23.2 million units in Follow-on Public Offerings (FPOs). Out of the 21 companies, 19 have sought permission from the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) while two &ndash; Pokhara Finance and Nepal Hydro Developer &ndash; have already received share issuance permission.</p>

<p>Till date, 21 companies have been permitted by the securities market regulator to issue 54.1 million units of shares worth Rs 12.74 billion. The two companies that have received the permission are yet to issue the shares to the general public.</p>

<p>Pokhara Finance has been permitted to issue 983,682 units of share in FPO at the rate of Rs 220 (Rs 100 minimum and Rs 120 premium) per unit. Likewise, Nepal Hydro Developer has been permitted to float 390,000 &nbsp;units of shares in IPO.</p>

<p>Among the 19 companies seeking permission to issue shares, five have applied for FPO while the remaining 14 the applicants for IPO. Premier Insurance, Butwal Power, Bank of Kathmandu, Nepal Gramin Bikas Bank and NMB Bank are the companies to issue shares in FPOs. Meanwhile, hydropower companies lead the pack of companies preparing to issue shares in IPOs. Twelve of the 14 companies interested in issuing shares in IPOs are hydropower companies.</p>

<p>The process of buying of shares has become convenient after SEBON adopted Applications Supported by Blocked Amount (<em>ASBA</em>)&nbsp;S<em>ystem. Also, the mandatory provision to issue 10 units of shares is likely to encourage small investors to buy shares. </em>&nbsp;</p>

<p>The design for the dry port has been already prepared and the construction works has also started after the government allocated budget for the project in the last fiscal year, informed Laxman Basnet, acting director of Intermodel Transportation Development Committee.</p>

<p>&ldquo;The concerned body has already acquired land for the construction of dry port at Korala Customs Point,&rdquo; said Basnet.</p>

<p>The process to build dry port at Korala was initiated about a decade ago in 2007 but the plan gathered dust due to political upheaval and prolonged transition period.</p>

<p>The customs office has acquired 109 ropanis of land for the dry port, informed Basnet.</p>

<p>The customs office building, storage house and hot room for staff have already been built, according Mustang district&rsquo;s customs chief Shukra Darshan Dhungana.</p>

<p>The construction of 435-kilometer road from Gaidakot to Korala along the Kaligandaki Corridor is being expedited and the work is expected to finish within three years, according to the Kaligandai Corridor Project. Currently, border out posts of Armed Police Force are being set up around Korala while Nepal Army has been setting up barracks in Upper Mustang, informed Basnet.</p>

The private airlines of Nepal has been operating just one flight to and fro Doha-Kathmandu per week at present. But from September 2, it is planning to operate 11 flights per week in the same route.</p>

<p>However, the additional flights will be available only till October 28 as the main purpose of those flights is to ease the flow of Nepali migrant workers returning home for festivals like Dashain and Tihar.</p>

<p>There will be two additional flights from August 3 and eight more by September 2, informed the airlines.</p>

<p>In the first phase, the additional two flights will be operated on Tuesdays and Thursdays while the additional eight flights will take place on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.</p>

<p>Himalayan Airlines&rsquo; administrative &nbsp;officer Bijay Shrestha said that they decided to operate extra flights for the convenience of Nepali migrant workers keeping in mind the large number of people returning home for celebration.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Smartphone shipments also rose to 73.01 million, a year-on-year increase of 20.6 percent, reads a press statement issued by the Chinese smartphone brand, Huawei.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Our Consumer Business Group continued to deliver extraordinary growth, beating the industry average and penetrating high-end markets around the globe. This ongoing growth is testament to the strength of the Huawei brand and the momentum we&rsquo;ve built through delivering premium, market-redefining devices that resonate with today&rsquo;s discerning consumers,&rdquo; the statement quoted Richard Yu, chief executive officer of Huawei&rsquo;s Consumer Business Group, as saying.</p>

<p>In the first quarter of 2017, Huawei&rsquo;s market share rose to 9.8 percent of the global smartphone market, according to industry analysts IDC. This growth was driven by a significant increase in sales of mid-range and high-end smartphones in key geographies, reads the statement.</p>

<p>&ldquo;In Greater China, Huawei laid claim to 22.1 % of the market where shipments increased by 24 percent year-over-year.&nbsp; Huawei also saw rapid growth in smartphone shipment across Europe, reporting 18 percent year-over-year growth with particularly robust performance in Central and Eastern and Nordic Europe,&rdquo; said the statement, adding, &ldquo;The Huawei Consumer Business Group also experienced major breakthroughs in Asia-Pacific markets including Thailand, Malaysia, Japan and South Korea. Russia also grew strongly.&rdquo;</p>

<p>The statement further says that this year-on-year growth was reflected in Huawei&rsquo;s rise as a globally recognized premium brand.</p>

<p>In 2017, Huawei was listed 49th on BrandZ&rsquo;s Top 100 Most Valuable Global Brands while it ranked 88th in Forbes World&rsquo;s Most Valuable Brands and number 40 on the Brand Finance Global 500 Most Valuable Brands lists.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Huawei devices have resonated with global audiences because of our clear commitment to quality, experience and innovation,&rdquo; added Yu.</p>

<p>Huawei claimed that the company is set to grow its expansive retail network, reaching 56,000 retail stores worldwide by the end of 2017 &ndash; an increase from 35,000 in May 2016.</p>

<p>&ldquo;The meeting reviewed progress made since the 14th meeting of JTE including, follow-up action on decisions taken on various items of 14th meeting of&nbsp; JTE and review of progress made; environmental impact assessment studies; resettlement and rehabilitation plan; design flood studies; Glacier Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF) studies; power potential studies; power system and power evacuation studies; and drilling activities at the Saptakoshi High Dam site,&rdquo; reads the press statement.</p>

<p>The meeting also recommended the extension of time of the Joint Project Office of Saptakoshi Sunkoshi Investigation for a period of 30 months effective from March 1, 2017.</p>

<p>The JTE has decided to hold the next meeting in February 2018.</p>

<p>UNESCO World Heritage Site Basantapur also lies in this area. There are still many quake damaged houses standing with support from wooden logs in the area.</p>

<p>But the place started getting&nbsp;a new look after the locals clubs and residents of the area joined hands to form Kantipur Development Committee, which has taken initiative to protect the sites with historical significance and has also removed street vendors who used to occupy the paths unlawfully.</p>

<p>The committee&rsquo;s chairman Deepak Shrestha informed that this campaign has not only helped restore the beauty of the place but also helped in curbing unlawful activities.</p>

<p>Shrestha informed that the initiative was taken with the support of the recently elected people&rsquo;s representatives.</p>

<p>The committee&rsquo;s treasurer Pradeep Joche said that the removal of unlawful street vendors in areas like Kasthamandap of ward-19, Basantapur of ward-23, Hanumandhoka of ward-14, Asan and Machhindrabahal of ward-25, and Bhotahiti of ward-27 has eased the flow of movement of people as well as traffic.</p>

<p>Proper management and protection of the downtown areas has made it easy for the locals as well as tourists to move around the area, informed Police Inspector Tulasa Khatiwada of the Tourist Police. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p>
