The cheques issued by the government offices till the final day of the last fiscal year 2016/17 will be valid only up to one month of their issuance.</p> <p>According to the FCGO, the government was liable to pay Rs 102 billion for issuing cheques as of July 20 but the outstanding amount dropped significantly to Rs 47 billion by July 23 as lots of cheques got cleared.</p> <p>Financial Comptroller General Rajendra Prasad Nepal said that there is provision to clear the cheques only up to one month of their issuance but the concerned stakeholders turn up to draw the amount whenever they like.</p> <p>“It is difficult to clear the amount at the last minute so everyone should be aware of this fact,” said Nepal.</p> <p>FCGO had opted for e-payment trial from Singha Durbar but the concerned officials said it would take some time before the system comes into practice since it needs to be approved by commercial banks and Nepal Clearing House.</p> <p>FCGO has also prepared a draft on financial working procedure act for local, provincial and federal structure of the country. Last year’s VAT collection was also up by 34.5 percent compared to the previous year.</p> <p>Within the period, customs duty has increased by 45.7 percent, excise duty by 78.3 percent, vehicle tax by 25.9 percent and registration fee by 76.8 percent. Collection of other tax has dropped by overall 26.7 percent. The other tax category includes road construction and repair tax as well as business registration fee.</p> <p>During the review period, customs duty contributed 19.4 percent to the overall revenue collection while the contribution of income tax was 22.7 percent.</p> <p>The government’s expenditure as compared to its resource mobilization has remained minimal due to which the government’s cash reserve has reached Rs 269.07 billion.</p> <p>During the review period, the total government expenditure in terms of cash flow had increased by 43 percent to Rs 555.10 billion. Birgunj-based Karmam Bhagyam Company Pvt Ltd has imported composite fiver cylinders in the Nepali market from India.</p> <p>According to the company’s Managing Director Kishori Lal Tiwadewal, at present they have introduced 14.5 kg cylinder in the market. The company is planning to bring cylinders that can adjust 5 to 19 kg of LPG.</p> <p> Tiwadewal claimed that the cylinders pose very little risk of bursting as they are made up of fiber glass wrapped in plastic.</p> <p>“Just in case fire breaks out, this cylinder will melt down but will not blast,” said Tiwadewal.</p> <p>Fiber cylinders are transparent and the consumers can see the amount of gas left in the cylinders. Last year’s VAT collection was also up by 34.5 percent compared to the previous year.</p> <p>Within the period, customs duty has increased by 45.7 percent, excise duty by 78.3 percent, vehicle tax by 25.9 percent and registration fee by 76.8 percent. Collection of other tax has dropped by overall 26.7 percent. The other tax category includes road construction and repair tax as well as business registration fee.</p> <p>During the review period, customs duty contributed 19.4 percent to the overall revenue collection while the contribution of income tax was 22.7 percent.</p> <p>The government’s expenditure as compared to its resource mobilization has remained minimal due to which the government’s cash reserve has reached Rs 269.07 billion.</p> <p>During the review period, the total government expenditure in terms of cash flow had increased by 43 percent to Rs 555.10 billion. The cheques issued by the government offices till the final day of the last fiscal year 2016/17 will be valid only up to one month of their issuance.</p> <p>According to the FCGO, the government was liable to pay Rs 102 billion for issuing cheques as of July 20 but the outstanding amount dropped significantly to Rs 47 billion by July 23 as lots of cheques got cleared.</p> <p>Financial Comptroller General Rajendra Prasad Nepal said that there is provision to clear the cheques only up to one month of their issuance but the concerned stakeholders turn up to draw the amount whenever they like.</p> <p>“It is difficult to clear the amount at the last minute so everyone should be aware of this fact,” said Nepal.</p> <p>FCGO had opted for e-payment trial from Singha Durbar but the concerned officials said it would take some time before the system comes into practice since it needs to be approved by commercial banks and Nepal Clearing House.</p> <p>FCGO has also prepared a draft on financial working procedure act for local, provincial and federal structure of the country. In the first 11 months of the FY 2015/16, the government had collected revenue of Rs 396.02 billion.</p> <p>A report entitled ‘Economic and financial status of the country’ published by Nepal Rastra Bank attributes the rise in revenue collection to the sharp increase in collection of value added tax (VAT), customs duty, income tax, excise duty among others.</p> <p>The government collected VAT worth Rs 146.44 billion, which is 27.8 percent of total revenue collected by the government in the first 11 months of the last FY. Last year’s VAT collection was also up by 34.5 percent compared to the previous year.</p> <p>Within the period, customs duty has increased by 45.7 percent, excise duty by 78.3 percent, vehicle tax by 25.9 percent and registration fee by 76.8 percent. Collection of other tax has dropped by overall 26.7 percent. The other tax category includes road construction and repair tax as well as business registration fee.</p> <p>During the review period, customs duty contributed 19.4 percent to the overall revenue collection while the contribution of income tax was 22.7 percent.</p> <p>The government’s expenditure as compared to its resource mobilization has remained minimal due to which the government’s cash reserve has reached Rs 269.07 billion.</p> <p>During the review period, the total government expenditure in terms of cash flow had increased by 43 percent to Rs 555.10 billion. The company is planning to bring cylinders that can adjust 5 to 19 kg of LPG.</p> <p> Tiwadewal claimed that the cylinders pose very little risk of bursting as they are made up of fiber glass wrapped in plastic.</p> <p>“Just in case fire breaks out, this cylinder will melt down but will not blast,” said Tiwadewal.</p> <p>Fiber cylinders are transparent and the consumers can see the amount of gas left in the cylinders.
