<p>FNCCI also announced that it will organize Nepal-India Investment Seminar in September in Kathmandu in coordination with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). FNCCI President Rana also informed about their plans of establishing a unit for promoting Nepal-India investment and business with the help of Indian Embassy. Likewise, cross-border trade and tourism expo in collaboration with the government of West Bengal is also in the cards, informed Rana.</p>

			'content' => '<p>July 24: Financial Comptroller General&rsquo;s Office (FCGO) has decided to freeze the amount of cheques issued by the government if they are not deposited in banks within August 14. The cheques issued by the government offices till the final day of the last fiscal year 2016/17 will be valid only up to one month of their issuance.</p>

<p>According to the FCGO, the government was liable to pay Rs 102 billion for issuing cheques as of July 20 but the outstanding amount dropped significantly to Rs 47 billion by July 23 as lots of cheques got cleared.</p>

<p>Financial Comptroller General Rajendra Prasad Nepal said that there is provision to clear the cheques only up to one month of their issuance but the concerned stakeholders turn up to draw the amount whenever they like.</p>

<p>&ldquo;It is difficult to clear the amount at the last minute so everyone should be aware of this fact,&rdquo; said Nepal.</p>

<p>FCGO had opted for e-payment trial from Singha Durbar but the concerned officials said it would take some time before the system comes into practice since it needs to be approved by commercial banks and Nepal Clearing House.</p>

<p>FCGO has also prepared a draft on financial working procedure act for local, provincial and federal structure of the country. &nbsp;The government body said it proposed such act to streamline the financial activities in the new federal set-up.</p>

<p>Financial Comptroller General Nepal said that the office has already deployed auditors to all 744 local units of the country.</p>

			'content' => '<p>July 24: The government of Nepal has collected revenue of Rs 527.14 billion in the first 11 months of the fiscal year 2016/17. The amount is 33.1 percent more than the revenue collection in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year. In the first 11 months of the FY 2015/16, the government had collected revenue of Rs 396.02 billion.</p>

<p>A report entitled &lsquo;Economic and financial status of the country&rsquo; published by Nepal Rastra Bank attributes the rise in revenue collection to the sharp increase in collection of value added tax (VAT), customs duty, income tax, excise duty &nbsp;among others.</p>

<p>The government collected VAT worth Rs 146.44 billion, which is 27.8 percent of total revenue collected by the government in the first 11 months of the last FY. Last year&rsquo;s VAT collection was also up by 34.5 percent compared to the previous year.</p>

<p>Within the period, customs duty has increased by 45.7 percent, excise duty by 78.3 percent, vehicle tax by 25.9 percent and registration fee by 76.8 percent. Collection of other tax has dropped by overall 26.7 percent. The other tax category includes road construction and repair tax as well as business registration fee.</p>

<p>During the review period, customs duty contributed 19.4 percent to the overall revenue collection while the contribution of income tax was 22.7 percent.</p>

<p>The government&rsquo;s expenditure as compared to its resource mobilization has remained minimal due to which the government&rsquo;s cash reserve has reached Rs 269.07 billion.</p>

<p>During the review period, the total government expenditure in terms of cash flow had increased by 43 percent to Rs 555.10 billion. The government expenditure in the corresponding period of the previous FY was 388.31 billion.</p>

<p>The government has given permission to the private sector to import such cylinder after evaluating their standard. Birgunj-based Karmam Bhagyam Company Pvt Ltd has imported composite fiver cylinders in the Nepali market from India.</p>

<p>According to the company&rsquo;s Managing Director Kishori Lal Tiwadewal, at present they have introduced 14.5 kg cylinder in the market. The company is planning to bring cylinders that can adjust 5 to 19 kg of LPG.</p>

<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;Tiwadewal claimed that the cylinders pose very little risk of bursting as they are made up of fiber glass wrapped in plastic.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Just in case fire breaks out, this cylinder will melt down but will not blast,&rdquo; said Tiwadewal.</p>

<p>Fiber cylinders are transparent and the consumers can see the amount of gas left in the cylinders. The importers argue that the consumers cannot be cheated because of this feature of the cylinder.</p>

<p>The weight of composite cylinders is half the weight of iron cylinders because of which it is easy to transport them to rural areas, informed Tiwadewal.</p>

<p>BICCI Chairman Om Prakash Sharma said that they have been unable to utilize Haldia port even thought they are facing trouble due to mismanagement in Kolkata. Haldia port is 120 kilometers away from Kolkata.</p>

<p>Sharma said they have been forced to look for alternatives as the officials of Kolkata Port Trust have turned a deaf ear to their grievances.</p>

<p>Kolkata is the nearest seaport from Nepal. It is 704 km from Birgunj. However, immediate past chairman of BICCI Pradeep Kumar Kedia said that Haldia would be a suitable alternative to Kolkata even though it is a little far away.</p>

<p>According to Kedia, Birgunj Dry Port has been facing lots of problems due to the negligence of Indian Railwlays while importing goods from Kolkata.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, Haldia Dock Complex Chairman G Senthilvel assured to provide quality service to Nepali importers at Haldia Port. He said that he would ensure that the shipping companies would not have to pay exorbitant prices for using the service of Haldia Port and also claimed that the service there has been efficient.</p>

<p>Nepali importers had to pay a fine of more than Rs 8 billion to Kolkata Port Trust and Indian shipping companies due to the Madhes agitation and blockade imposed by India in late 2015.</p>

<p>He further informed that the bank has already initiated the process to issue 65 percent rights shares to its shareholders. According to him, around 20 million units of shares each worth Rs 100 will be issued to the shareholders.</p>

<p>CEO Shah also shed light of the bank assurance plan in coordination with Nepal Life Insurance Company and other insurance companies in the near future.</p>

<p>In the last fiscal year, the bank&rsquo;s deposit collection rose by Rs 8 billion to a total of Rs 39 billion while its loan flow has also increased by Rs 7.4 billion. The bank has around 260,000 account holders, 47 branches, one extension counter, 58 ATM outlets and provides branchless service from 58 places.&nbsp;</p>

The cheques issued by the government offices till the final day of the last fiscal year 2016/17 will be valid only up to one month of their issuance.</p>

<p>According to the FCGO, the government was liable to pay Rs 102 billion for issuing cheques as of July 20 but the outstanding amount dropped significantly to Rs 47 billion by July 23 as lots of cheques got cleared.</p>

<p>Financial Comptroller General Rajendra Prasad Nepal said that there is provision to clear the cheques only up to one month of their issuance but the concerned stakeholders turn up to draw the amount whenever they like.</p>

<p>&ldquo;It is difficult to clear the amount at the last minute so everyone should be aware of this fact,&rdquo; said Nepal.</p>

<p>FCGO had opted for e-payment trial from Singha Durbar but the concerned officials said it would take some time before the system comes into practice since it needs to be approved by commercial banks and Nepal Clearing House.</p>

<p>FCGO has also prepared a draft on financial working procedure act for local, provincial and federal structure of the country. &nbsp;The government body said it proposed such act to streamline the financial activities in the new federal set-up.</p>

<p>Financial Comptroller General Nepal said that the office has already deployed auditors to all 744 local units of the country.</p>

The amount is 33.1 percent more than the revenue collection in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year. In the first 11 months of the FY 2015/16, the government had collected revenue of Rs 396.02 billion.</p>

<p>A report entitled &lsquo;Economic and financial status of the country&rsquo; published by Nepal Rastra Bank attributes the rise in revenue collection to the sharp increase in collection of value added tax (VAT), customs duty, income tax, excise duty &nbsp;among others.</p>

<p>The government collected VAT worth Rs 146.44 billion, which is 27.8 percent of total revenue collected by the government in the first 11 months of the last FY. Last year&rsquo;s VAT collection was also up by 34.5 percent compared to the previous year.</p>

<p>Within the period, customs duty has increased by 45.7 percent, excise duty by 78.3 percent, vehicle tax by 25.9 percent and registration fee by 76.8 percent. Collection of other tax has dropped by overall 26.7 percent. The other tax category includes road construction and repair tax as well as business registration fee.</p>

<p>During the review period, customs duty contributed 19.4 percent to the overall revenue collection while the contribution of income tax was 22.7 percent.</p>

<p>The government&rsquo;s expenditure as compared to its resource mobilization has remained minimal due to which the government&rsquo;s cash reserve has reached Rs 269.07 billion.</p>

<p>During the review period, the total government expenditure in terms of cash flow had increased by 43 percent to Rs 555.10 billion. The government expenditure in the corresponding period of the previous FY was 388.31 billion.</p>

<p>According to the company&rsquo;s Managing Director Kishori Lal Tiwadewal, at present they have introduced 14.5 kg cylinder in the market. The company is planning to bring cylinders that can adjust 5 to 19 kg of LPG.</p>

<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;Tiwadewal claimed that the cylinders pose very little risk of bursting as they are made up of fiber glass wrapped in plastic.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Just in case fire breaks out, this cylinder will melt down but will not blast,&rdquo; said Tiwadewal.</p>

<p>Fiber cylinders are transparent and the consumers can see the amount of gas left in the cylinders. The importers argue that the consumers cannot be cheated because of this feature of the cylinder.</p>

<p>The weight of composite cylinders is half the weight of iron cylinders because of which it is easy to transport them to rural areas, informed Tiwadewal.</p>

<p>Kolkata is the nearest seaport from Nepal. It is 704 km from Birgunj. However, immediate past chairman of BICCI Pradeep Kumar Kedia said that Haldia would be a suitable alternative to Kolkata even though it is a little far away.</p>

<p>According to Kedia, Birgunj Dry Port has been facing lots of problems due to the negligence of Indian Railwlays while importing goods from Kolkata.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, Haldia Dock Complex Chairman G Senthilvel assured to provide quality service to Nepali importers at Haldia Port. He said that he would ensure that the shipping companies would not have to pay exorbitant prices for using the service of Haldia Port and also claimed that the service there has been efficient.</p>

<p>Nepali importers had to pay a fine of more than Rs 8 billion to Kolkata Port Trust and Indian shipping companies due to the Madhes agitation and blockade imposed by India in late 2015.</p>

<p>Shah informed that the provincial headquarters of the bank has already been initiated from Butwal in Province 5. He further announced that the bank is in the process of merger with Tourism Development Bank and claimed that Mega Bank will become one of the banks with highest capital after the merger.</p>

<p>&ldquo;The merger with Tourism Development Bank will get completed within this fiscal year,&rdquo; said Shah.</p>

<p>Mega Bank&rsquo;s CEO Anil Keshari Shah informed that the bank plans open 20 new branches in the next fiscal year. Stating that the recent local level elections have opened new doors of economic potential, CEO Shah said that the bank will capitalize on it by expanding its branches in the new municipalities and rural municipalities.</p>

<p>He further informed that the bank has already initiated the process to issue 65 percent rights shares to its shareholders. According to him, around 20 million units of shares each worth Rs 100 will be issued to the shareholders.</p>

<p>CEO Shah also shed light of the bank assurance plan in coordination with Nepal Life Insurance Company and other insurance companies in the near future.</p>

<p>In the last fiscal year, the bank&rsquo;s deposit collection rose by Rs 8 billion to a total of Rs 39 billion while its loan flow has also increased by Rs 7.4 billion. The bank has around 260,000 account holders, 47 branches, one extension counter, 58 ATM outlets and provides branchless service from 58 places.&nbsp;</p>

The cheques issued by the government offices till the final day of the last fiscal year 2016/17 will be valid only up to one month of their issuance.</p>

<p>According to the FCGO, the government was liable to pay Rs 102 billion for issuing cheques as of July 20 but the outstanding amount dropped significantly to Rs 47 billion by July 23 as lots of cheques got cleared.</p>

<p>Financial Comptroller General Rajendra Prasad Nepal said that there is provision to clear the cheques only up to one month of their issuance but the concerned stakeholders turn up to draw the amount whenever they like.</p>

<p>&ldquo;It is difficult to clear the amount at the last minute so everyone should be aware of this fact,&rdquo; said Nepal.</p>

<p>FCGO had opted for e-payment trial from Singha Durbar but the concerned officials said it would take some time before the system comes into practice since it needs to be approved by commercial banks and Nepal Clearing House.</p>

<p>FCGO has also prepared a draft on financial working procedure act for local, provincial and federal structure of the country. &nbsp;The government body said it proposed such act to streamline the financial activities in the new federal set-up.</p>

<p>Financial Comptroller General Nepal said that the office has already deployed auditors to all 744 local units of the country.</p>

The amount is 33.1 percent more than the revenue collection in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year. In the first 11 months of the FY 2015/16, the government had collected revenue of Rs 396.02 billion.</p>

<p>A report entitled &lsquo;Economic and financial status of the country&rsquo; published by Nepal Rastra Bank attributes the rise in revenue collection to the sharp increase in collection of value added tax (VAT), customs duty, income tax, excise duty &nbsp;among others.</p>

<p>The government collected VAT worth Rs 146.44 billion, which is 27.8 percent of total revenue collected by the government in the first 11 months of the last FY. Last year&rsquo;s VAT collection was also up by 34.5 percent compared to the previous year.</p>

<p>Within the period, customs duty has increased by 45.7 percent, excise duty by 78.3 percent, vehicle tax by 25.9 percent and registration fee by 76.8 percent. Collection of other tax has dropped by overall 26.7 percent. The other tax category includes road construction and repair tax as well as business registration fee.</p>

<p>During the review period, customs duty contributed 19.4 percent to the overall revenue collection while the contribution of income tax was 22.7 percent.</p>

<p>The government&rsquo;s expenditure as compared to its resource mobilization has remained minimal due to which the government&rsquo;s cash reserve has reached Rs 269.07 billion.</p>

<p>During the review period, the total government expenditure in terms of cash flow had increased by 43 percent to Rs 555.10 billion. The government expenditure in the corresponding period of the previous FY was 388.31 billion.</p>

<p>According to the company&rsquo;s Managing Director Kishori Lal Tiwadewal, at present they have introduced 14.5 kg cylinder in the market. The company is planning to bring cylinders that can adjust 5 to 19 kg of LPG.</p>

<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;Tiwadewal claimed that the cylinders pose very little risk of bursting as they are made up of fiber glass wrapped in plastic.</p>

<p>The entrepreneurs expressed their problems due to the delay caused by Kolkata Port Trust during an interaction jointly organized by Birgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industries (BICCI) and Haldia Dock Complex, the company which operates Haldia Seaport, in Birgunj on July 21.</p>

<p>BICCI Chairman Om Prakash Sharma said that they have been unable to utilize Haldia port even thought they are facing trouble due to mismanagement in Kolkata. Haldia port is 120 kilometers away from Kolkata.</p>

<p>Sharma said they have been forced to look for alternatives as the officials of Kolkata Port Trust have turned a deaf ear to their grievances.</p>

<p>Kolkata is the nearest seaport from Nepal. It is 704 km from Birgunj. However, immediate past chairman of BICCI Pradeep Kumar Kedia said that Haldia would be a suitable alternative to Kolkata even though it is a little far away.</p>

<p>According to Kedia, Birgunj Dry Port has been facing lots of problems due to the negligence of Indian Railwlays while importing goods from Kolkata.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, Haldia Dock Complex Chairman G Senthilvel assured to provide quality service to Nepali importers at Haldia Port. He said that he would ensure that the shipping companies would not have to pay exorbitant prices for using the service of Haldia Port and also claimed that the service there has been efficient.</p>

<p>Nepali importers had to pay a fine of more than Rs 8 billion to Kolkata Port Trust and Indian shipping companies due to the Madhes agitation and blockade imposed by India in late 2015.</p>

The cheques issued by the government offices till the final day of the last fiscal year 2016/17 will be valid only up to one month of their issuance.</p>

<p>According to the FCGO, the government was liable to pay Rs 102 billion for issuing cheques as of July 20 but the outstanding amount dropped significantly to Rs 47 billion by July 23 as lots of cheques got cleared.</p>

<p>Financial Comptroller General Rajendra Prasad Nepal said that there is provision to clear the cheques only up to one month of their issuance but the concerned stakeholders turn up to draw the amount whenever they like.</p>

<p>&ldquo;It is difficult to clear the amount at the last minute so everyone should be aware of this fact,&rdquo; said Nepal.</p>

<p>FCGO had opted for e-payment trial from Singha Durbar but the concerned officials said it would take some time before the system comes into practice since it needs to be approved by commercial banks and Nepal Clearing House.</p>

<p>FCGO has also prepared a draft on financial working procedure act for local, provincial and federal structure of the country. &nbsp;The government body said it proposed such act to streamline the financial activities in the new federal set-up.</p>

<p>Financial Comptroller General Nepal said that the office has already deployed auditors to all 744 local units of the country.</p>

			'content' => '<p>July 24: The government of Nepal has collected revenue of Rs 527.14 billion in the first 11 months of the fiscal year 2016/17. The amount is 33.1 percent more than the revenue collection in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year. In the first 11 months of the FY 2015/16, the government had collected revenue of Rs 396.02 billion.</p>

<p>A report entitled &lsquo;Economic and financial status of the country&rsquo; published by Nepal Rastra Bank attributes the rise in revenue collection to the sharp increase in collection of value added tax (VAT), customs duty, income tax, excise duty &nbsp;among others.</p>

<p>The government collected VAT worth Rs 146.44 billion, which is 27.8 percent of total revenue collected by the government in the first 11 months of the last FY. Last year&rsquo;s VAT collection was also up by 34.5 percent compared to the previous year.</p>

<p>Within the period, customs duty has increased by 45.7 percent, excise duty by 78.3 percent, vehicle tax by 25.9 percent and registration fee by 76.8 percent. Collection of other tax has dropped by overall 26.7 percent. The other tax category includes road construction and repair tax as well as business registration fee.</p>

<p>During the review period, customs duty contributed 19.4 percent to the overall revenue collection while the contribution of income tax was 22.7 percent.</p>

<p>The government&rsquo;s expenditure as compared to its resource mobilization has remained minimal due to which the government&rsquo;s cash reserve has reached Rs 269.07 billion.</p>

<p>During the review period, the total government expenditure in terms of cash flow had increased by 43 percent to Rs 555.10 billion. The government expenditure in the corresponding period of the previous FY was 388.31 billion.</p>

The government has a policy of promoting composite fiber cylinders after incidents of iron cylinders bursting were reported frequently.</p>

<p>The government has given permission to the private sector to import such cylinder after evaluating their standard. Birgunj-based Karmam Bhagyam Company Pvt Ltd has imported composite fiver cylinders in the Nepali market from India.</p>

<p>According to the company&rsquo;s Managing Director Kishori Lal Tiwadewal, at present they have introduced 14.5 kg cylinder in the market. The company is planning to bring cylinders that can adjust 5 to 19 kg of LPG.</p>

<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;Tiwadewal claimed that the cylinders pose very little risk of bursting as they are made up of fiber glass wrapped in plastic.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Just in case fire breaks out, this cylinder will melt down but will not blast,&rdquo; said Tiwadewal.</p>

<p>Fiber cylinders are transparent and the consumers can see the amount of gas left in the cylinders. The importers argue that the consumers cannot be cheated because of this feature of the cylinder.</p>

<p>The weight of composite cylinders is half the weight of iron cylinders because of which it is easy to transport them to rural areas, informed Tiwadewal.</p>

<p>The entrepreneurs expressed their problems due to the delay caused by Kolkata Port Trust during an interaction jointly organized by Birgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industries (BICCI) and Haldia Dock Complex, the company which operates Haldia Seaport, in Birgunj on July 21.</p>

<p>BICCI Chairman Om Prakash Sharma said that they have been unable to utilize Haldia port even thought they are facing trouble due to mismanagement in Kolkata. Haldia port is 120 kilometers away from Kolkata.</p>

<p>Sharma said they have been forced to look for alternatives as the officials of Kolkata Port Trust have turned a deaf ear to their grievances.</p>

<p>Kolkata is the nearest seaport from Nepal. It is 704 km from Birgunj. However, immediate past chairman of BICCI Pradeep Kumar Kedia said that Haldia would be a suitable alternative to Kolkata even though it is a little far away.</p>

<p>According to Kedia, Birgunj Dry Port has been facing lots of problems due to the negligence of Indian Railwlays while importing goods from Kolkata.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, Haldia Dock Complex Chairman G Senthilvel assured to provide quality service to Nepali importers at Haldia Port. He said that he would ensure that the shipping companies would not have to pay exorbitant prices for using the service of Haldia Port and also claimed that the service there has been efficient.</p>

<p>Nepali importers had to pay a fine of more than Rs 8 billion to Kolkata Port Trust and Indian shipping companies due to the Madhes agitation and blockade imposed by India in late 2015.</p>

<p>He further informed that the bank has already initiated the process to issue 65 percent rights shares to its shareholders. According to him, around 20 million units of shares each worth Rs 100 will be issued to the shareholders.</p>

<p>CEO Shah also shed light of the bank assurance plan in coordination with Nepal Life Insurance Company and other insurance companies in the near future.</p>

<p>In the last fiscal year, the bank&rsquo;s deposit collection rose by Rs 8 billion to a total of Rs 39 billion while its loan flow has also increased by Rs 7.4 billion. The bank has around 260,000 account holders, 47 branches, one extension counter, 58 ATM outlets and provides branchless service from 58 places.&nbsp;</p>
