Consumer price inflation in the review period was much less than the projection made by the government. The average consumer price inflation which was 9.9 percent the previous year, dropped to 4.5 in last fiscal year. As a result, the overall inflation remained under control.</p>

<p>This was revealed by the financial review report of fiscal year 2016/17 made public by Nepal Rastra Bank on Monday, August 21.</p>

<p>The government had a target to keep inflation below 7.5 percent in the last fiscal year. But the inflation was much less than expected, according to the central bank&rsquo;s report.</p>

<p>Last year&rsquo;s inflation is the lowest in the last 12 years. Earlier, the consumer price inflation was 4.5 percent also in the FY 2004/5.</p>

<p>With the recent revelation, the government has claimed that its monetary policy has succeeded in keeping inflation under control.</p>

<p>Economists have said that although the inflation has gone down as compared to the previous year, the purchasing power of consumers has not receded.</p>

<p>&ldquo;In paper, inflation is much less than expected. It implies that the monetary policy has been successful,&rdquo; said Dr Shankar Prasad Nepal, a professor at Bhairahawa Multiple Campus under Tribhuvan University. &ldquo;But the reality is different,&rdquo; he added.</p>

<p>The report states that the inflation was less than the target in the real sense only in the year 2004/5. The report attributes the low inflation to the effect of the base price of last year, improvement in supply management and the low rate of inflation in India and other countries.&nbsp;</p>

			'content' => '<p>August 21: The upgradation work of the East-West (Mahendra) Highway will start in the current fiscal year. The Ministry of Physical Planning and Transport informed that the process of upgrading the highway into eight lanes will start after five months from mid-January. It is the longest highway of Nepal stretching 1028 kilometers from Mechi in the east to Mahakali in the west.</p>

<p>In the first phase of upgradation, a 112 kilometer section of the highway from Narayangadh to Butwal will be converted into eight lanes. Currently, the road section is of four lanes.</p>

<p>Joint-secretary Rajendra Raj Sharma, spokesperson of the ministry, informed that the first phase of upgradation work is being carried out with 15 billion loan from the Asian Development Bank. Other sections of the highway will be gradually upgraded after that, according to Sharma.</p>

<p>&ldquo;We are in the final phase of starting the upgradation works. The works will begin from January,&rdquo; said Sharma.</p>

<p>According to the ministry, there will be 21 motorable bridges in the road section of the highway. After the completion of the work, the ministry will start upgrading the road section from Narayangadh to Koshi via Pathlaiya.</p>

<p>The ADB has been doing homework in coordination with the ministry in order to expand the highway from Kakarbhitta in the east to Banbasa in the west.</p>

The average consumer price inflation which was 9.9 percent the previous year, dropped to 4.5 in last fiscal year. As a result, the overall inflation remained under control.</p>

<p>This was revealed by the financial review report of fiscal year 2016/17 made public by Nepal Rastra Bank on Monday, August 21.</p>

<p>The government had a target to keep inflation below 7.5 percent in the last fiscal year. But the inflation was much less than expected, according to the central bank&rsquo;s report.</p>

<p>Last year&rsquo;s inflation is the lowest in the last 12 years. Earlier, the consumer price inflation was 4.5 percent also in the FY 2004/5.</p>

<p>With the recent revelation, the government has claimed that its monetary policy has succeeded in keeping inflation under control.</p>

<p>Economists have said that although the inflation has gone down as compared to the previous year, the purchasing power of consumers has not receded.</p>

<p>&ldquo;In paper, inflation is much less than expected. It implies that the monetary policy has been successful,&rdquo; said Dr Shankar Prasad Nepal, a professor at Bhairahawa Multiple Campus under Tribhuvan University. &ldquo;But the reality is different,&rdquo; he added.</p>

<p>The report states that the inflation was less than the target in the real sense only in the year 2004/5. The report attributes the low inflation to the effect of the base price of last year, improvement in supply management and the low rate of inflation in India and other countries.&nbsp;</p>

			'content' => '<p>August 21: The upgradation work of the East-West (Mahendra) Highway will start in the current fiscal year. The Ministry of Physical Planning and Transport informed that the process of upgrading the highway into eight lanes will start after five months from mid-January. It is the longest highway of Nepal stretching 1028 kilometers from Mechi in the east to Mahakali in the west.</p>

<p>In the first phase of upgradation, a 112 kilometer section of the highway from Narayangadh to Butwal will be converted into eight lanes. Currently, the road section is of four lanes.</p>

<p>Joint-secretary Rajendra Raj Sharma, spokesperson of the ministry, informed that the first phase of upgradation work is being carried out with 15 billion loan from the Asian Development Bank. Other sections of the highway will be gradually upgraded after that, according to Sharma.</p>

<p>&ldquo;We are in the final phase of starting the upgradation works. The works will begin from January,&rdquo; said Sharma.</p>

<p>According to the ministry, there will be 21 motorable bridges in the road section of the highway. After the completion of the work, the ministry will start upgrading the road section from Narayangadh to Koshi via Pathlaiya.</p>

<p>The ADB has been doing homework in coordination with the ministry in order to expand the highway from Kakarbhitta in the east to Banbasa in the west.</p>

<p>The ministry has given priority in upgrading the eastern section of the highway due to traffic congestion.</p>

<p>The construction of the highway started in 2019 BS but the highway has not been expanded in the last fifty years.&nbsp;</p>

The average consumer price inflation which was 9.9 percent the previous year, dropped to 4.5 in last fiscal year. As a result, the overall inflation remained under control.</p>

<p>This was revealed by the financial review report of fiscal year 2016/17 made public by Nepal Rastra Bank on Monday, August 21.</p>

<p>The government had a target to keep inflation below 7.5 percent in the last fiscal year. But the inflation was much less than expected, according to the central bank&rsquo;s report.</p>

<p>Last year&rsquo;s inflation is the lowest in the last 12 years. Earlier, the consumer price inflation was 4.5 percent also in the FY 2004/5.</p>

<p>With the recent revelation, the government has claimed that its monetary policy has succeeded in keeping inflation under control.</p>

<p>Economists have said that although the inflation has gone down as compared to the previous year, the purchasing power of consumers has not receded.</p>

<p>&ldquo;In paper, inflation is much less than expected. It implies that the monetary policy has been successful,&rdquo; said Dr Shankar Prasad Nepal, a professor at Bhairahawa Multiple Campus under Tribhuvan University. &ldquo;But the reality is different,&rdquo; he added.</p>

<p>The report states that the inflation was less than the target in the real sense only in the year 2004/5. The report attributes the low inflation to the effect of the base price of last year, improvement in supply management and the low rate of inflation in India and other countries.&nbsp;</p>

			'content' => '<p>August 21: The upgradation work of the East-West (Mahendra) Highway will start in the current fiscal year. The Ministry of Physical Planning and Transport informed that the process of upgrading the highway into eight lanes will start after five months from mid-January. It is the longest highway of Nepal stretching 1028 kilometers from Mechi in the east to Mahakali in the west.</p>

<p>In the first phase of upgradation, a 112 kilometer section of the highway from Narayangadh to Butwal will be converted into eight lanes. Currently, the road section is of four lanes.</p>

<p>Joint-secretary Rajendra Raj Sharma, spokesperson of the ministry, informed that the first phase of upgradation work is being carried out with 15 billion loan from the Asian Development Bank. Other sections of the highway will be gradually upgraded after that, according to Sharma.</p>

<p>&ldquo;We are in the final phase of starting the upgradation works. The works will begin from January,&rdquo; said Sharma.</p>

<p>According to the ministry, there will be 21 motorable bridges in the road section of the highway. After the completion of the work, the ministry will start upgrading the road section from Narayangadh to Koshi via Pathlaiya.</p>

<p>The ADB has been doing homework in coordination with the ministry in order to expand the highway from Kakarbhitta in the east to Banbasa in the west.</p>

<p>The ministry has given priority in upgrading the eastern section of the highway due to traffic congestion.</p>

<p>The construction of the highway started in 2019 BS but the highway has not been expanded in the last fifty years.&nbsp;</p>

The average consumer price inflation which was 9.9 percent the previous year, dropped to 4.5 in last fiscal year. As a result, the overall inflation remained under control.</p>

<p>This was revealed by the financial review report of fiscal year 2016/17 made public by Nepal Rastra Bank on Monday, August 21.</p>

<p>The government had a target to keep inflation below 7.5 percent in the last fiscal year. But the inflation was much less than expected, according to the central bank&rsquo;s report.</p>

<p>Last year&rsquo;s inflation is the lowest in the last 12 years. Earlier, the consumer price inflation was 4.5 percent also in the FY 2004/5.</p>

<p>With the recent revelation, the government has claimed that its monetary policy has succeeded in keeping inflation under control.</p>

<p>Economists have said that although the inflation has gone down as compared to the previous year, the purchasing power of consumers has not receded.</p>

<p>&ldquo;In paper, inflation is much less than expected. It implies that the monetary policy has been successful,&rdquo; said Dr Shankar Prasad Nepal, a professor at Bhairahawa Multiple Campus under Tribhuvan University. &ldquo;But the reality is different,&rdquo; he added.</p>

<p>The report states that the inflation was less than the target in the real sense only in the year 2004/5. The report attributes the low inflation to the effect of the base price of last year, improvement in supply management and the low rate of inflation in India and other countries.&nbsp;</p>

			'content' => '<p>August 21: The upgradation work of the East-West (Mahendra) Highway will start in the current fiscal year. The Ministry of Physical Planning and Transport informed that the process of upgrading the highway into eight lanes will start after five months from mid-January. It is the longest highway of Nepal stretching 1028 kilometers from Mechi in the east to Mahakali in the west.</p>

<p>In the first phase of upgradation, a 112 kilometer section of the highway from Narayangadh to Butwal will be converted into eight lanes. Currently, the road section is of four lanes.</p>

<p>Joint-secretary Rajendra Raj Sharma, spokesperson of the ministry, informed that the first phase of upgradation work is being carried out with 15 billion loan from the Asian Development Bank. Other sections of the highway will be gradually upgraded after that, according to Sharma.</p>

<p>&ldquo;We are in the final phase of starting the upgradation works. The works will begin from January,&rdquo; said Sharma.</p>

<p>According to the ministry, there will be 21 motorable bridges in the road section of the highway. After the completion of the work, the ministry will start upgrading the road section from Narayangadh to Koshi via Pathlaiya.</p>

<p>The ADB has been doing homework in coordination with the ministry in order to expand the highway from Kakarbhitta in the east to Banbasa in the west.</p>

<p>The ministry has given priority in upgrading the eastern section of the highway due to traffic congestion.</p>

<p>The construction of the highway started in 2019 BS but the highway has not been expanded in the last fifty years.&nbsp;</p>
