The exhibition is scheduled for December 21 to 25 at Bhrikuti Mandap Exhibition Hall, Kathmandu.</p>

<p>According to the organiser, the exhibition is believed to contribute to the development of Nepalese trade, business and industrial sector thereby creating a conducive business environment. Backing up the national priority of energy development, this edition of Electro-Tech will be organized with the theme &ldquo;Energy for Economic Prosperity&rdquo; to voice the development of energy and the component sector.</p>

<p>A statement issued by FEEN says that the NEEK Electro-Tech 2018 is expected to be an ideal business platform for all who work in the areas of electricity, power, energy, electrical, electronic and information technology.</p>

<p>&ldquo;National and international manufacturers, exporters, importers, agencies, dealers, contractors, engineers, experts, designers, policy makers, technicians and buyers will form a mega platform for trade, investment opportunities and market information. The exhibiting companies will portray their latest products and new technological developments in the electrical and electronic sector,&rdquo; the statement said.</p>

<p>The expo houses 51 blocks inside the hall and 26 stalls in the sales area. The exhibition will showcase power generating equipment, transmission &amp; distribution line materials, power supply and control equipment, domestic and industrial electrification, electric household appliances, wire, cables and conductors, lighting fixtures, electronics, office automation, control and switchgears, inverters and batteries, solar equipment and other electrical accessories.</p>

<p>Nepal Ekarat Engineering Company (NEEK) is the title sponsor of the exhibition.</p>

<p>CEO of MBL, Suman Sharma, team leader of Sakchyam, Nirmal Dahal and country director of Heifer International Nepal, Shubh Mahato along with other representatives from MBL, Sakchyam and Heifer International Nepal were present during the partnership signing ceremony.</p>

<p>According to a joint statement issued by the three organisations, MBL in strategic alliance with UKaid Sakchyam and Heifer International Nepal, will expand access to finance for women entrepreneurs and farmers in order to enhance their economic condition through the &lsquo;Simplified Financial Services for Economic Empowerment of Women&rsquo; project.</p>

<p>During the program, MBL&rsquo;s CEO Suman Sharma said that the bank will cater to the financial requirement of rural farmers, small and medium enterprises, other value chain actors and underprivileged group in 14 districts in order to enhance their livelihood &lsquo;through this strategic alliance.</p>

<p>The aim of the project is to reach to more than 4,300 farmers, provide savings accounts to more than 3,000 beneficiaries, initiate financial literacy and awareness, maximize branchless banking (BLB) and introduce innovative credit assessment and delivery tools in form of Kishan Credit Card (KCC).</p>

<p>Machhapuchchhre Bank is providing its services across Nepal with a network of 86 branches, two extension counters and 39 branchless banking units. The bank has 107 ATMs spread all over the country.</p>

<p>Sakchyam is a UKaid-funded access to finance programme implemented by Louis Berger for DFID Nepal while Heifer International is working in Nepal as a sustainable development non-profit leader in smallholder agriculture.</p>

<p>According to the bank, the alliance brings together a pool of expertise in QR payment solution, acquiring/payment services and network development.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Rojgari Services shall develop QR merchant network across the country for Nabil Bank that will enable customers to process payment through their mobile device using QR Code from those merchant touch points,&rdquo; the statement said.</p>

<p>With the UPI QR Code service, Nepali businesses can now sell their products/services electronically in a secure environment, the statement further said. The bank said that Rojgari Services will build the bank&rsquo;s QR acquiring portfolio with 10,000 merchants over the period of one year. Over the time, Nabil Bank said it expects to deliver enhanced suite of QR payment solution to its customers and merchants.</p>

<p>&ldquo;It&#39;s a completely new approach to the typical payment process where the need of physical Point of Sales (POS) terminals can be avoided and no physical contact of the card is required. The QR code conveys the purchase transaction information to the application on the mobile device where the payment is initiated.&rdquo;</p>

<p>Commenting on the agreement, Anil K Khanal, deputy chief executive officer of Nabil Bank, said, &ldquo;We continue to work towards promoting digital banking and innovative solution as we have been delivering such innovative payment solutions to our customers since long. This partnership will help towards building an ecosystem for QR payment in the country and expand our service offering to the next level.&rdquo;</p>

According to Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS), the vice chair of the National Railway Authority of China Aan Lu Tsung submitted the preliminary report regarding the construction of the Kerung-Kathmandu Railway to the secretary of the Ministry for Physical Infrastructures and Transportation Management (MoPITM), Madhusudan Adhikari.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The study was initiated earlier this year in May.</p>

<p>According to MoPITM Spokesperson Amin Chitrakar, the four-day meeting of Nepal-China Railway Cooperation Committee is exploring means and ways to forward the construction of the railway track. The meeting will conclude on Thursday, December 13.</p>

<p>Keshav Sharma, joint-secretary at the ministry, informed New Business Age that the meeting has agreed to prepare the Detailed Project Report of the multi-billion dollars project at the earliest.</p>

<p>&nbsp;The Chinese technical team is scheduled make a field visit to the proposed railway track which will be 80 kilometres long and would be completed within eight years at an estimated cost of over Rs 300 billion.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to RSS, the Chinese team was scheduled to leave for Rasuwa on a field trip Tuesday while the team would set out for Pokhara on Wednesday to study the Kathmandu-Pokhara Railway.&nbsp;<br />
A Chinese Company had earlier conducted the feasibility study of the Kathmandu-Pokhara Railway which would measure 171 kilometres.&nbsp;<br />
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli in his last official visit to China in June this year had met with the Chinese leadership where significant understanding was reached with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Li Keqiang to further expanding bilateral cooperation in various fields including cross border railway connectivity.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Immediately after that, the Chinese team had conducted a field study for the railway.&nbsp;<br />
The study had covered various aspects such as geological studies of places across Kathmandu, Nuwakot, Trishuli in Nepal to Kerung in China and their geographic positions as well as marking the landmarks among others, according to RSS.&nbsp;<br />
The railway is likely to be constructed in tunnel system given the geographical complexity in both countries.&nbsp;</p>

<p>&ldquo;The herbal export has witnessed difficulties after the Uttar Pradesh Forest Department of India created unnecessary hassles,&rdquo; RSS quoted the association as saying.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The entrepreneurs have complained that the export of herbal products has witnessed downfall due to the government&rsquo;s apathy in taking action for promoting herbs.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Entrepreneurs of Nepalgunj have now started using Sunauli checkpoint near Bhairahawa for herbal export after facing recurring troubles while transporting the products via Rupediya checkpoint. According to RSS, iIt has resulted in annual reduction of volume of herbal export to India from Nepalgunj through Rupediya.&nbsp;<br />
Until a decade ago, around 7 million kg of herbal products used to be exported to India via the checkpoint annually. This has now slumped insignificantly, said the Nepal Herbal Entrepreneurs Association Nepalgunj.</p>

			'content' => '<p>December 11: The number of countries with strong policy frameworks for sustainable energy more than tripled &ndash; from 17 to 59 &ndash; between 2010 and 2017, and many of the world&rsquo;s largest energy-consuming countries have significantly improved their renewable energy regulations since 2010, according to RISE 2018, a new World Bank report charting global progress on sustainable energy policies.</p>

<p>According to the report, progress was even more marked in energy efficiency, with the percentage of countries establishing advanced policy frameworks growing more than ten-fold between 2010 and 2017.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The World Bank said in a statement that among countries with large populations living without electricity, 75 percent had by 2017 put in place the policies and regulations needed to expand energy access.</p>

<p>But the report makes it clear that there are significant barriers to global progress on sustainable energy. While countries continue to be focused on clean energy policies for electricity, policies to decarbonize heating and transportation &ndash; which account for 80 percent of global energy use &ndash; continue to be overlooked.</p>

<p>RISE 2018 measures policy progress in 133 countries on renewable energy, energy efficiency, electricity access, and access to clean cooking &ndash; the four target areas of Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG7), which calls for achieving access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all by 2030.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Policy matters. RISE 2018 confirms the numbers that make it clear that policy is a leading indicator of the world&rsquo;s sustainable energy transition,&rdquo; said Riccardo Puliti, senior director for Energy and Extractives at the World Bank. &ldquo;But the report also contains a warning that without accelerated adoption of good policies, and strong enforcement, the world&rsquo;s climate goals and SDG7 are at risk.&rdquo;</p>

<p>This momentum, according to the statement, was particularly marked in renewable energy. Among the countries covered by RISE, only 37 percent had a national renewable energy target in 2010.&nbsp; By 2017, that had grown to 93 percent. By 2017, 84 percent of countries had a legal framework in place to support renewable energy deployment, while 95 percent allowed the private sector to own and operate renewable energy projects, the World Bank&nbsp; statement said. Over the same period, the share of countries that had put in place national legislation on energy efficiency rose from 25 percent to 89 percent.</p>

<p>In countries with an electricity access deficit, policymakers are increasingly turning their attention to off-grid solutions to close the gap. The share of low-access countries adopting measures to support mini-grids and solar home systems has soared from around 15 percent in 2010 to 70 percent in 2017.</p>

<p>In the same countries, however, the deteriorating fiscal position of national utilities is putting progress at risk. Among countries with low access to energy, the number of utilities meeting basic creditworthiness criteria dropped from 63 percent in 2012 to 37 percent in 2016.</p>

The taskforce was formed on December 6 and its first meeting was held on December 9, according to RSS. The taskforce has a deadline of seven days since its formation to give feedback on the issue to the Ministry of Finance.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A statement issued by FEEN says that the NEEK Electro-Tech 2018 is expected to be an ideal business platform for all who work in the areas of electricity, power, energy, electrical, electronic and information technology.</p>

<p>&ldquo;National and international manufacturers, exporters, importers, agencies, dealers, contractors, engineers, experts, designers, policy makers, technicians and buyers will form a mega platform for trade, investment opportunities and market information. The exhibiting companies will portray their latest products and new technological developments in the electrical and electronic sector,&rdquo; the statement said.</p>

<p>The expo houses 51 blocks inside the hall and 26 stalls in the sales area. The exhibition will showcase power generating equipment, transmission &amp; distribution line materials, power supply and control equipment, domestic and industrial electrification, electric household appliances, wire, cables and conductors, lighting fixtures, electronics, office automation, control and switchgears, inverters and batteries, solar equipment and other electrical accessories.</p>

<p>Nepal Ekarat Engineering Company (NEEK) is the title sponsor of the exhibition.</p>

<p>According to a joint statement issued by the three organisations, MBL in strategic alliance with UKaid Sakchyam and Heifer International Nepal, will expand access to finance for women entrepreneurs and farmers in order to enhance their economic condition through the &lsquo;Simplified Financial Services for Economic Empowerment of Women&rsquo; project.</p>

<p>During the program, MBL&rsquo;s CEO Suman Sharma said that the bank will cater to the financial requirement of rural farmers, small and medium enterprises, other value chain actors and underprivileged group in 14 districts in order to enhance their livelihood &lsquo;through this strategic alliance.</p>

<p>The aim of the project is to reach to more than 4,300 farmers, provide savings accounts to more than 3,000 beneficiaries, initiate financial literacy and awareness, maximize branchless banking (BLB) and introduce innovative credit assessment and delivery tools in form of Kishan Credit Card (KCC).</p>

<p>Machhapuchchhre Bank is providing its services across Nepal with a network of 86 branches, two extension counters and 39 branchless banking units. The bank has 107 ATMs spread all over the country.</p>

<p>Sakchyam is a UKaid-funded access to finance programme implemented by Louis Berger for DFID Nepal while Heifer International is working in Nepal as a sustainable development non-profit leader in smallholder agriculture.</p>

The bank said that Rojgari Services will build the bank&rsquo;s QR acquiring portfolio with 10,000 merchants over the period of one year. Over the time, Nabil Bank said it expects to deliver enhanced suite of QR payment solution to its customers and merchants.</p>

<p>&ldquo;It&#39;s a completely new approach to the typical payment process where the need of physical Point of Sales (POS) terminals can be avoided and no physical contact of the card is required. The QR code conveys the purchase transaction information to the application on the mobile device where the payment is initiated.&rdquo;</p>

<p>Commenting on the agreement, Anil K Khanal, deputy chief executive officer of Nabil Bank, said, &ldquo;We continue to work towards promoting digital banking and innovative solution as we have been delivering such innovative payment solutions to our customers since long. This partnership will help towards building an ecosystem for QR payment in the country and expand our service offering to the next level.&rdquo;</p>

According to Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS), the vice chair of the National Railway Authority of China Aan Lu Tsung submitted the preliminary report regarding the construction of the Kerung-Kathmandu Railway to the secretary of the Ministry for Physical Infrastructures and Transportation Management (MoPITM), Madhusudan Adhikari.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The study was initiated earlier this year in May.</p>

<p>According to MoPITM Spokesperson Amin Chitrakar, the four-day meeting of Nepal-China Railway Cooperation Committee is exploring means and ways to forward the construction of the railway track. The meeting will conclude on Thursday, December 13.</p>

<p>Keshav Sharma, joint-secretary at the ministry, informed New Business Age that the meeting has agreed to prepare the Detailed Project Report of the multi-billion dollars project at the earliest.</p>

<p>&nbsp;The Chinese technical team is scheduled make a field visit to the proposed railway track which will be 80 kilometres long and would be completed within eight years at an estimated cost of over Rs 300 billion.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to RSS, the Chinese team was scheduled to leave for Rasuwa on a field trip Tuesday while the team would set out for Pokhara on Wednesday to study the Kathmandu-Pokhara Railway.&nbsp;<br />
A Chinese Company had earlier conducted the feasibility study of the Kathmandu-Pokhara Railway which would measure 171 kilometres.&nbsp;<br />
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli in his last official visit to China in June this year had met with the Chinese leadership where significant understanding was reached with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Li Keqiang to further expanding bilateral cooperation in various fields including cross border railway connectivity.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Immediately after that, the Chinese team had conducted a field study for the railway.&nbsp;<br />
The study had covered various aspects such as geological studies of places across Kathmandu, Nuwakot, Trishuli in Nepal to Kerung in China and their geographic positions as well as marking the landmarks among others, according to RSS.&nbsp;<br />
The railway is likely to be constructed in tunnel system given the geographical complexity in both countries.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Entrepreneurs of Nepalgunj have now started using Sunauli checkpoint near Bhairahawa for herbal export after facing recurring troubles while transporting the products via Rupediya checkpoint. According to RSS, iIt has resulted in annual reduction of volume of herbal export to India from Nepalgunj through Rupediya.&nbsp;<br />
Until a decade ago, around 7 million kg of herbal products used to be exported to India via the checkpoint annually. This has now slumped insignificantly, said the Nepal Herbal Entrepreneurs Association Nepalgunj.</p>

			'content' => '<p>December 11: The number of countries with strong policy frameworks for sustainable energy more than tripled &ndash; from 17 to 59 &ndash; between 2010 and 2017, and many of the world&rsquo;s largest energy-consuming countries have significantly improved their renewable energy regulations since 2010, according to RISE 2018, a new World Bank report charting global progress on sustainable energy policies.</p>

<p>According to the report, progress was even more marked in energy efficiency, with the percentage of countries establishing advanced policy frameworks growing more than ten-fold between 2010 and 2017.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The World Bank said in a statement that among countries with large populations living without electricity, 75 percent had by 2017 put in place the policies and regulations needed to expand energy access.</p>

<p>But the report makes it clear that there are significant barriers to global progress on sustainable energy. While countries continue to be focused on clean energy policies for electricity, policies to decarbonize heating and transportation &ndash; which account for 80 percent of global energy use &ndash; continue to be overlooked.</p>

<p>RISE 2018 measures policy progress in 133 countries on renewable energy, energy efficiency, electricity access, and access to clean cooking &ndash; the four target areas of Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG7), which calls for achieving access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all by 2030.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Policy matters. RISE 2018 confirms the numbers that make it clear that policy is a leading indicator of the world&rsquo;s sustainable energy transition,&rdquo; said Riccardo Puliti, senior director for Energy and Extractives at the World Bank. &ldquo;But the report also contains a warning that without accelerated adoption of good policies, and strong enforcement, the world&rsquo;s climate goals and SDG7 are at risk.&rdquo;</p>

<p>This momentum, according to the statement, was particularly marked in renewable energy. Among the countries covered by RISE, only 37 percent had a national renewable energy target in 2010.&nbsp; By 2017, that had grown to 93 percent. By 2017, 84 percent of countries had a legal framework in place to support renewable energy deployment, while 95 percent allowed the private sector to own and operate renewable energy projects, the World Bank&nbsp; statement said. Over the same period, the share of countries that had put in place national legislation on energy efficiency rose from 25 percent to 89 percent.</p>

<p>In countries with an electricity access deficit, policymakers are increasingly turning their attention to off-grid solutions to close the gap. The share of low-access countries adopting measures to support mini-grids and solar home systems has soared from around 15 percent in 2010 to 70 percent in 2017.</p>

<p>In the same countries, however, the deteriorating fiscal position of national utilities is putting progress at risk. Among countries with low access to energy, the number of utilities meeting basic creditworthiness criteria dropped from 63 percent in 2012 to 37 percent in 2016.</p>

<p>According to a joint statement issued by the three organisations, MBL in strategic alliance with UKaid Sakchyam and Heifer International Nepal, will expand access to finance for women entrepreneurs and farmers in order to enhance their economic condition through the &lsquo;Simplified Financial Services for Economic Empowerment of Women&rsquo; project.</p>

<p>During the program, MBL&rsquo;s CEO Suman Sharma said that the bank will cater to the financial requirement of rural farmers, small and medium enterprises, other value chain actors and underprivileged group in 14 districts in order to enhance their livelihood &lsquo;through this strategic alliance.</p>

<p>The aim of the project is to reach to more than 4,300 farmers, provide savings accounts to more than 3,000 beneficiaries, initiate financial literacy and awareness, maximize branchless banking (BLB) and introduce innovative credit assessment and delivery tools in form of Kishan Credit Card (KCC).</p>

<p>Machhapuchchhre Bank is providing its services across Nepal with a network of 86 branches, two extension counters and 39 branchless banking units. The bank has 107 ATMs spread all over the country.</p>

<p>Sakchyam is a UKaid-funded access to finance programme implemented by Louis Berger for DFID Nepal while Heifer International is working in Nepal as a sustainable development non-profit leader in smallholder agriculture.</p>

The QR code conveys the purchase transaction information to the application on the mobile device where the payment is initiated.&rdquo;</p>

According to Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS), the vice chair of the National Railway Authority of China Aan Lu Tsung submitted the preliminary report regarding the construction of the Kerung-Kathmandu Railway to the secretary of the Ministry for Physical Infrastructures and Transportation Management (MoPITM), Madhusudan Adhikari.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The study was initiated earlier this year in May.</p>

<p>According to MoPITM Spokesperson Amin Chitrakar, the four-day meeting of Nepal-China Railway Cooperation Committee is exploring means and ways to forward the construction of the railway track. The meeting will conclude on Thursday, December 13.</p>

<p>Keshav Sharma, joint-secretary at the ministry, informed New Business Age that the meeting has agreed to prepare the Detailed Project Report of the multi-billion dollars project at the earliest.</p>

<p>&nbsp;The Chinese technical team is scheduled make a field visit to the proposed railway track which will be 80 kilometres long and would be completed within eight years at an estimated cost of over Rs 300 billion.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to RSS, the Chinese team was scheduled to leave for Rasuwa on a field trip Tuesday while the team would set out for Pokhara on Wednesday to study the Kathmandu-Pokhara Railway.&nbsp;<br />
A Chinese Company had earlier conducted the feasibility study of the Kathmandu-Pokhara Railway which would measure 171 kilometres.&nbsp;<br />
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli in his last official visit to China in June this year had met with the Chinese leadership where significant understanding was reached with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Li Keqiang to further expanding bilateral cooperation in various fields including cross border railway connectivity.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Immediately after that, the Chinese team had conducted a field study for the railway.&nbsp;<br />
The study had covered various aspects such as geological studies of places across Kathmandu, Nuwakot, Trishuli in Nepal to Kerung in China and their geographic positions as well as marking the landmarks among others, according to RSS.&nbsp;<br />
The railway is likely to be constructed in tunnel system given the geographical complexity in both countries.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Entrepreneurs of Nepalgunj have now started using Sunauli checkpoint near Bhairahawa for herbal export after facing recurring troubles while transporting the products via Rupediya checkpoint. According to RSS, iIt has resulted in annual reduction of volume of herbal export to India from Nepalgunj through Rupediya.&nbsp;<br />
Until a decade ago, around 7 million kg of herbal products used to be exported to India via the checkpoint annually. This has now slumped insignificantly, said the Nepal Herbal Entrepreneurs Association Nepalgunj.</p>

<p>According to the report, progress was even more marked in energy efficiency, with the percentage of countries establishing advanced policy frameworks growing more than ten-fold between 2010 and 2017.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The World Bank said in a statement that among countries with large populations living without electricity, 75 percent had by 2017 put in place the policies and regulations needed to expand energy access.</p>

<p>But the report makes it clear that there are significant barriers to global progress on sustainable energy. While countries continue to be focused on clean energy policies for electricity, policies to decarbonize heating and transportation &ndash; which account for 80 percent of global energy use &ndash; continue to be overlooked.</p>

<p>RISE 2018 measures policy progress in 133 countries on renewable energy, energy efficiency, electricity access, and access to clean cooking &ndash; the four target areas of Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG7), which calls for achieving access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all by 2030.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Policy matters. RISE 2018 confirms the numbers that make it clear that policy is a leading indicator of the world&rsquo;s sustainable energy transition,&rdquo; said Riccardo Puliti, senior director for Energy and Extractives at the World Bank. &ldquo;But the report also contains a warning that without accelerated adoption of good policies, and strong enforcement, the world&rsquo;s climate goals and SDG7 are at risk.&rdquo;</p>

<p>This momentum, according to the statement, was particularly marked in renewable energy. Among the countries covered by RISE, only 37 percent had a national renewable energy target in 2010.&nbsp; By 2017, that had grown to 93 percent. By 2017, 84 percent of countries had a legal framework in place to support renewable energy deployment, while 95 percent allowed the private sector to own and operate renewable energy projects, the World Bank&nbsp; statement said. Over the same period, the share of countries that had put in place national legislation on energy efficiency rose from 25 percent to 89 percent.</p>

<p>In countries with an electricity access deficit, policymakers are increasingly turning their attention to off-grid solutions to close the gap. The share of low-access countries adopting measures to support mini-grids and solar home systems has soared from around 15 percent in 2010 to 70 percent in 2017.</p>

<p>In the same countries, however, the deteriorating fiscal position of national utilities is putting progress at risk. Among countries with low access to energy, the number of utilities meeting basic creditworthiness criteria dropped from 63 percent in 2012 to 37 percent in 2016.</p>

The QR code conveys the purchase transaction information to the application on the mobile device where the payment is initiated.&rdquo;</p>

According to Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS), the vice chair of the National Railway Authority of China Aan Lu Tsung submitted the preliminary report regarding the construction of the Kerung-Kathmandu Railway to the secretary of the Ministry for Physical Infrastructures and Transportation Management (MoPITM), Madhusudan Adhikari.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The study was initiated earlier this year in May.</p>

<p>According to MoPITM Spokesperson Amin Chitrakar, the four-day meeting of Nepal-China Railway Cooperation Committee is exploring means and ways to forward the construction of the railway track. The meeting will conclude on Thursday, December 13.</p>

<p>Keshav Sharma, joint-secretary at the ministry, informed New Business Age that the meeting has agreed to prepare the Detailed Project Report of the multi-billion dollars project at the earliest.</p>

<p>&nbsp;The Chinese technical team is scheduled make a field visit to the proposed railway track which will be 80 kilometres long and would be completed within eight years at an estimated cost of over Rs 300 billion.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to RSS, the Chinese team was scheduled to leave for Rasuwa on a field trip Tuesday while the team would set out for Pokhara on Wednesday to study the Kathmandu-Pokhara Railway.&nbsp;<br />
A Chinese Company had earlier conducted the feasibility study of the Kathmandu-Pokhara Railway which would measure 171 kilometres.&nbsp;<br />
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli in his last official visit to China in June this year had met with the Chinese leadership where significant understanding was reached with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Li Keqiang to further expanding bilateral cooperation in various fields including cross border railway connectivity.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to the state-owned national news agency, Nepal Herbal Entrepreneurs Association Nepalgunj has accused the forest department of Uttar Pradesh in India of creating unnecessary hassles for businesspersons in the name of transit permit, customs, food lab and plant quarantine checks.</p>

<p>&ldquo;The herbal export has witnessed difficulties after the Uttar Pradesh Forest Department of India created unnecessary hassles,&rdquo; RSS quoted the association as saying.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The entrepreneurs have complained that the export of herbal products has witnessed downfall due to the government&rsquo;s apathy in taking action for promoting herbs.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Entrepreneurs of Nepalgunj have now started using Sunauli checkpoint near Bhairahawa for herbal export after facing recurring troubles while transporting the products via Rupediya checkpoint. According to RSS, iIt has resulted in annual reduction of volume of herbal export to India from Nepalgunj through Rupediya.&nbsp;<br />
Until a decade ago, around 7 million kg of herbal products used to be exported to India via the checkpoint annually. This has now slumped insignificantly, said the Nepal Herbal Entrepreneurs Association Nepalgunj.</p>

			'content' => '<p>December 11: The number of countries with strong policy frameworks for sustainable energy more than tripled &ndash; from 17 to 59 &ndash; between 2010 and 2017, and many of the world&rsquo;s largest energy-consuming countries have significantly improved their renewable energy regulations since 2010, according to RISE 2018, a new World Bank report charting global progress on sustainable energy policies.</p>

<p>According to the report, progress was even more marked in energy efficiency, with the percentage of countries establishing advanced policy frameworks growing more than ten-fold between 2010 and 2017.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The World Bank said in a statement that among countries with large populations living without electricity, 75 percent had by 2017 put in place the policies and regulations needed to expand energy access.</p>

<p>But the report makes it clear that there are significant barriers to global progress on sustainable energy. While countries continue to be focused on clean energy policies for electricity, policies to decarbonize heating and transportation &ndash; which account for 80 percent of global energy use &ndash; continue to be overlooked.</p>

<p>RISE 2018 measures policy progress in 133 countries on renewable energy, energy efficiency, electricity access, and access to clean cooking &ndash; the four target areas of Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG7), which calls for achieving access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all by 2030.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Policy matters. RISE 2018 confirms the numbers that make it clear that policy is a leading indicator of the world&rsquo;s sustainable energy transition,&rdquo; said Riccardo Puliti, senior director for Energy and Extractives at the World Bank. &ldquo;But the report also contains a warning that without accelerated adoption of good policies, and strong enforcement, the world&rsquo;s climate goals and SDG7 are at risk.&rdquo;</p>

<p>This momentum, according to the statement, was particularly marked in renewable energy. Among the countries covered by RISE, only 37 percent had a national renewable energy target in 2010.&nbsp; By 2017, that had grown to 93 percent. By 2017, 84 percent of countries had a legal framework in place to support renewable energy deployment, while 95 percent allowed the private sector to own and operate renewable energy projects, the World Bank&nbsp; statement said. Over the same period, the share of countries that had put in place national legislation on energy efficiency rose from 25 percent to 89 percent.</p>

<p>In countries with an electricity access deficit, policymakers are increasingly turning their attention to off-grid solutions to close the gap. The share of low-access countries adopting measures to support mini-grids and solar home systems has soared from around 15 percent in 2010 to 70 percent in 2017.</p>

<p>In the same countries, however, the deteriorating fiscal position of national utilities is putting progress at risk. Among countries with low access to energy, the number of utilities meeting basic creditworthiness criteria dropped from 63 percent in 2012 to 37 percent in 2016.</p>

A taskforce formed by the government under the convenorship of Nepal Rastra Bank&#39;s deputy governor to deal with the issue has already begun its works.&nbsp;<br />
The taskforce was formed on December 6 and its first meeting was held on December 9, according to RSS. The taskforce has a deadline of seven days since its formation to give feedback on the issue to the Ministry of Finance.&nbsp;</p>
