			'content' => '<p>November 30: India has imposed an unofficial blockade on sugar and fertilizer that the Salt Trading Corporation (STC) was set to import to Nepal. STC informed that the Indian Railways Board has restricted its access to the containers carrying the goods under the pretext of renovation of the railways.</p>

<p>The import of sugar and fertilizer to Birgunj, a major city on the Nepali side of border, has come to a halt after India restricted the access to railway containers. The demand for chemical fertilizers increases when agricultural season nears. But the STC and Agriculture Inputs Company Limited stated that they have chemical fertilizers available for the time being.</p>

<p>The Ministry of Agriculture informed that the government has been unable to supply new chemical fertilizers after the obstruction at Kolkata port and restriction to the railway containers.&nbsp; Ishwori Pandey, chief at the Agriculture Products Procurement Department, said that the problem has not been solved even after initiation taken by the Kathmandu-based Indian Embassy and the Consulate General of India since a month.</p>

<p>&ldquo;India has imposed a kind of unannounced blockade on fertilizer,&rdquo; Pandey told New Business Age, adding, &ldquo;India has not let the import of fertilizer take place since Dashain festival.&rdquo;</p>

<p>According to the STC, 40,000 metric tons of fertilizers and 10,000 metric tons of sugar have been languishing at a godown in Haldia, India since last month.</p>

<p>Pankaj Joshi, divisional manager at the STC, said that the Indian Embassy has cited political reasons behind the halt in import of sugar and fertilizers. He also informed that he will be leaving for Haldia, India on Friday to get details about the problem and to find a solution.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>Pandey, on the other hand, said that the government must seek political solution to the problem rather than trying to solve it at the lower level.</p>

<p>Nevertheless, the STC has said that the people will not have to face scarcity of sugar till the upcoming election.</p>

<p>Joshi informed that the corporation has 10,000 metric tons of sugar which will be sufficient for a month.</p>

<p>&ldquo;There is sufficient amount of sugar that will be enough till election but the import is necessary to fulfill the market demand,&rdquo; he added.</p>

			'content' => '<p>November 30: With an aim of providing easy banking access to the poor and underprivileged communities, Poverty Alleviation Fund (PAF) and National Co-operative Bank Ltd (NCBL) have signed an agreement on Wednesday, November 30.</p>

<p>As per the agreement, both the organizations will work on poverty alleviation by bringing the population which is below the poverty line to the banking service. The banking service will include deposit, loan, among others.</p>

<p>KB Upreti, managing director of NCBL and Nahakul KC, executive director of PAF signed the memorandum of understanding (MoU) on behalf of their respective organizations.</p>

<p>Issuing a joint statement, both the organizations said that the agreement will help in the economic development of rural areas by uplifting the living standard of people below poverty line.</p>

<p>Speaking at the program, Nahakul KC said that there are a total of 425 co-operatives under PAF. &ldquo;These small co-operatives can&rsquo;t provide loan to the people in big amount. So, the collaboration with NCBL will help those small co-operatives to provide loan support to the people when needed,&rdquo; he said.</p>

<p>According to the statement, more than 32,000 community-based organizations have been established in 58&nbsp;districts with the support from PAF. Likewise, PAF also claims that almost a million households have benefitted from different programs of PAF.</p>

<p>Similarly, also speaking at the program, KB Upreti said that the agreement will help the government meet its target of poverty alleviation. He further added, &ldquo;Now the co-operatives under PAF will provide information regarding the community to NCBL, which will be beneficial for the rural community.&rdquo;</p>

<p>PAF has invested almost Rs 15 billion to establish 32,099 community organizations, which have benefitted almost a million households directly or indirectly.</p>

The ministry has hired a consultancy firm to prepare a blueprint for the project. The consultancy firm will be responsible to prepare the detailed structure of the municipalities including the map and design of the city along with the basic requirements of the municipalites.</span></p>

<p>Dr Ramesh Singh, director general of the Department of Urban Development and Building Construction under the Ministry of Urban Development, said that it would cost Rs 905 million just to prepare a draft of the integrated infrastructure development plan.</p>

<p>According to the ministry, preparing the blueprint of each city will cost Rs 5 million. Similarly, it has been estimated that development of each city will cost Rs 5 billion.&nbsp; The cost will be decided on the basis of the size, population and potential of the area.</p>

<p>Earlier, the government had planned to implement the integrated urban development project in 90 metropolitan cities. However, now the plan has been amended and the strategy is to implement the project in 185 cities. The consultancy firm has said that the report for the urban development will be completed in two months.</p>

The bank will provide such loan as per an agreement with the Ministry of Finance and Nepal Rastra bank under the Sustainable Rural Development Program. The program will be implemented with the assistance of the German government and funding from KfW Development Bank, reads a statement issued by Global IME Bank. An agreement to this effect between the concerned stakeholders was signed on Tuesday, November 29.</span></p>

<p>As per the agreement, the bank said it will provide entrepreneurs of rural areas with small and medium enterprises loan and agriculture loan with the financial and technical assistance of KfW Development Bank.</p>

<p>According to the business agreement, KfW will provide a total of 5 million euros (Rs Rs 515 million) to the Global IME Bank. The German bank will provide additional Rs 10 million to Global IME Bank at subsidized rate if it invests Rs 10 million.</p>

<p>Global IME Bank said it will provide loan ranging from a minimum amount of Rs 200,000 to the maximum of Rs 4 million to the people from rural areas utilizing the subsidized loan from the German bank.&nbsp;</p>

			'content' => '<p>November 30: India has imposed an unofficial blockade on sugar and fertilizer that the Salt Trading Corporation (STC) was set to import to Nepal. STC informed that the Indian Railways Board has restricted its access to the containers carrying the goods under the pretext of renovation of the railways.</p>

<p>The import of sugar and fertilizer to Birgunj, a major city on the Nepali side of border, has come to a halt after India restricted the access to railway containers. The demand for chemical fertilizers increases when agricultural season nears. But the STC and Agriculture Inputs Company Limited stated that they have chemical fertilizers available for the time being.</p>

<p>The Ministry of Agriculture informed that the government has been unable to supply new chemical fertilizers after the obstruction at Kolkata port and restriction to the railway containers.&nbsp; Ishwori Pandey, chief at the Agriculture Products Procurement Department, said that the problem has not been solved even after initiation taken by the Kathmandu-based Indian Embassy and the Consulate General of India since a month.</p>

<p>&ldquo;India has imposed a kind of unannounced blockade on fertilizer,&rdquo; Pandey told New Business Age, adding, &ldquo;India has not let the import of fertilizer take place since Dashain festival.&rdquo;</p>

<p>According to the STC, 40,000 metric tons of fertilizers and 10,000 metric tons of sugar have been languishing at a godown in Haldia, India since last month.</p>

<p>Pankaj Joshi, divisional manager at the STC, said that the Indian Embassy has cited political reasons behind the halt in import of sugar and fertilizers. He also informed that he will be leaving for Haldia, India on Friday to get details about the problem and to find a solution.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>Pandey, on the other hand, said that the government must seek political solution to the problem rather than trying to solve it at the lower level.</p>

<p>Nevertheless, the STC has said that the people will not have to face scarcity of sugar till the upcoming election.</p>

<p>Joshi informed that the corporation has 10,000 metric tons of sugar which will be sufficient for a month.</p>

<p>&ldquo;There is sufficient amount of sugar that will be enough till election but the import is necessary to fulfill the market demand,&rdquo; he added.</p>

			'content' => '<p>November 30: With an aim of providing easy banking access to the poor and underprivileged communities, Poverty Alleviation Fund (PAF) and National Co-operative Bank Ltd (NCBL) have signed an agreement on Wednesday, November 30.</p>

<p>As per the agreement, both the organizations will work on poverty alleviation by bringing the population which is below the poverty line to the banking service. The banking service will include deposit, loan, among others.</p>

<p>KB Upreti, managing director of NCBL and Nahakul KC, executive director of PAF signed the memorandum of understanding (MoU) on behalf of their respective organizations.</p>

<p>Issuing a joint statement, both the organizations said that the agreement will help in the economic development of rural areas by uplifting the living standard of people below poverty line.</p>

<p>Speaking at the program, Nahakul KC said that there are a total of 425 co-operatives under PAF. &ldquo;These small co-operatives can&rsquo;t provide loan to the people in big amount. So, the collaboration with NCBL will help those small co-operatives to provide loan support to the people when needed,&rdquo; he said.</p>

<p>According to the statement, more than 32,000 community-based organizations have been established in 58&nbsp;districts with the support from PAF. Likewise, PAF also claims that almost a million households have benefitted from different programs of PAF.</p>

<p>Similarly, also speaking at the program, KB Upreti said that the agreement will help the government meet its target of poverty alleviation. He further added, &ldquo;Now the co-operatives under PAF will provide information regarding the community to NCBL, which will be beneficial for the rural community.&rdquo;</p>

<p>PAF has invested almost Rs 15 billion to establish 32,099 community organizations, which have benefitted almost a million households directly or indirectly.</p>

<p>Dr Ramesh Singh, director general of the Department of Urban Development and Building Construction under the Ministry of Urban Development, said that it would cost Rs 905 million just to prepare a draft of the integrated infrastructure development plan.</p>

<p>According to the ministry, preparing the blueprint of each city will cost Rs 5 million. Similarly, it has been estimated that development of each city will cost Rs 5 billion.&nbsp; The cost will be decided on the basis of the size, population and potential of the area.</p>

<p>Earlier, the government had planned to implement the integrated urban development project in 90 metropolitan cities. However, now the plan has been amended and the strategy is to implement the project in 185 cities. The consultancy firm has said that the report for the urban development will be completed in two months.</p>

<p>According to the business agreement, KfW will provide a total of 5 million euros (Rs Rs 515 million) to the Global IME Bank. The German bank will provide additional Rs 10 million to Global IME Bank at subsidized rate if it invests Rs 10 million.</p>

<p>Global IME Bank said it will provide loan ranging from a minimum amount of Rs 200,000 to the maximum of Rs 4 million to the people from rural areas utilizing the subsidized loan from the German bank.&nbsp;</p>

			'content' => '<p>November 30: India has imposed an unofficial blockade on sugar and fertilizer that the Salt Trading Corporation (STC) was set to import to Nepal. STC informed that the Indian Railways Board has restricted its access to the containers carrying the goods under the pretext of renovation of the railways.</p>

<p>The import of sugar and fertilizer to Birgunj, a major city on the Nepali side of border, has come to a halt after India restricted the access to railway containers. The demand for chemical fertilizers increases when agricultural season nears. But the STC and Agriculture Inputs Company Limited stated that they have chemical fertilizers available for the time being.</p>

<p>The Ministry of Agriculture informed that the government has been unable to supply new chemical fertilizers after the obstruction at Kolkata port and restriction to the railway containers.&nbsp; Ishwori Pandey, chief at the Agriculture Products Procurement Department, said that the problem has not been solved even after initiation taken by the Kathmandu-based Indian Embassy and the Consulate General of India since a month.</p>

<p>&ldquo;India has imposed a kind of unannounced blockade on fertilizer,&rdquo; Pandey told New Business Age, adding, &ldquo;India has not let the import of fertilizer take place since Dashain festival.&rdquo;</p>

<p>According to the STC, 40,000 metric tons of fertilizers and 10,000 metric tons of sugar have been languishing at a godown in Haldia, India since last month.</p>

<p>Pankaj Joshi, divisional manager at the STC, said that the Indian Embassy has cited political reasons behind the halt in import of sugar and fertilizers. He also informed that he will be leaving for Haldia, India on Friday to get details about the problem and to find a solution.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>Pandey, on the other hand, said that the government must seek political solution to the problem rather than trying to solve it at the lower level.</p>

<p>Nevertheless, the STC has said that the people will not have to face scarcity of sugar till the upcoming election.</p>

<p>Joshi informed that the corporation has 10,000 metric tons of sugar which will be sufficient for a month.</p>

<p>&ldquo;There is sufficient amount of sugar that will be enough till election but the import is necessary to fulfill the market demand,&rdquo; he added.</p>

			'content' => '<p>November 30: With an aim of providing easy banking access to the poor and underprivileged communities, Poverty Alleviation Fund (PAF) and National Co-operative Bank Ltd (NCBL) have signed an agreement on Wednesday, November 30.</p>

<p>As per the agreement, both the organizations will work on poverty alleviation by bringing the population which is below the poverty line to the banking service. The banking service will include deposit, loan, among others.</p>

<p>KB Upreti, managing director of NCBL and Nahakul KC, executive director of PAF signed the memorandum of understanding (MoU) on behalf of their respective organizations.</p>

<p>Issuing a joint statement, both the organizations said that the agreement will help in the economic development of rural areas by uplifting the living standard of people below poverty line.</p>

<p>Speaking at the program, Nahakul KC said that there are a total of 425 co-operatives under PAF. &ldquo;These small co-operatives can&rsquo;t provide loan to the people in big amount. So, the collaboration with NCBL will help those small co-operatives to provide loan support to the people when needed,&rdquo; he said.</p>

<p>According to the statement, more than 32,000 community-based organizations have been established in 58&nbsp;districts with the support from PAF. Likewise, PAF also claims that almost a million households have benefitted from different programs of PAF.</p>

<p>Similarly, also speaking at the program, KB Upreti said that the agreement will help the government meet its target of poverty alleviation. He further added, &ldquo;Now the co-operatives under PAF will provide information regarding the community to NCBL, which will be beneficial for the rural community.&rdquo;</p>

<p>PAF has invested almost Rs 15 billion to establish 32,099 community organizations, which have benefitted almost a million households directly or indirectly.</p>

<p>According to the ministry, preparing the blueprint of each city will cost Rs 5 million. Similarly, it has been estimated that development of each city will cost Rs 5 billion.&nbsp; The cost will be decided on the basis of the size, population and potential of the area.</p>

<p>Earlier, the government had planned to implement the integrated urban development project in 90 metropolitan cities. However, now the plan has been amended and the strategy is to implement the project in 185 cities. The consultancy firm has said that the report for the urban development will be completed in two months.</p>

<p>Global IME Bank said it will provide loan ranging from a minimum amount of Rs 200,000 to the maximum of Rs 4 million to the people from rural areas utilizing the subsidized loan from the German bank.&nbsp;</p>

STC informed that the Indian Railways Board has restricted its access to the containers carrying the goods under the pretext of renovation of the railways.</p>

<p>The import of sugar and fertilizer to Birgunj, a major city on the Nepali side of border, has come to a halt after India restricted the access to railway containers. The demand for chemical fertilizers increases when agricultural season nears. But the STC and Agriculture Inputs Company Limited stated that they have chemical fertilizers available for the time being.</p>

<p>The Ministry of Agriculture informed that the government has been unable to supply new chemical fertilizers after the obstruction at Kolkata port and restriction to the railway containers.&nbsp; Ishwori Pandey, chief at the Agriculture Products Procurement Department, said that the problem has not been solved even after initiation taken by the Kathmandu-based Indian Embassy and the Consulate General of India since a month.</p>

<p>&ldquo;India has imposed a kind of unannounced blockade on fertilizer,&rdquo; Pandey told New Business Age, adding, &ldquo;India has not let the import of fertilizer take place since Dashain festival.&rdquo;</p>

<p>According to the STC, 40,000 metric tons of fertilizers and 10,000 metric tons of sugar have been languishing at a godown in Haldia, India since last month.</p>

<p>Pankaj Joshi, divisional manager at the STC, said that the Indian Embassy has cited political reasons behind the halt in import of sugar and fertilizers. He also informed that he will be leaving for Haldia, India on Friday to get details about the problem and to find a solution.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>Pandey, on the other hand, said that the government must seek political solution to the problem rather than trying to solve it at the lower level.</p>

<p>Nevertheless, the STC has said that the people will not have to face scarcity of sugar till the upcoming election.</p>

<p>Joshi informed that the corporation has 10,000 metric tons of sugar which will be sufficient for a month.</p>

<p>&ldquo;There is sufficient amount of sugar that will be enough till election but the import is necessary to fulfill the market demand,&rdquo; he added.</p>

<p>As per the agreement, both the organizations will work on poverty alleviation by bringing the population which is below the poverty line to the banking service. The banking service will include deposit, loan, among others.</p>

<p>KB Upreti, managing director of NCBL and Nahakul KC, executive director of PAF signed the memorandum of understanding (MoU) on behalf of their respective organizations.</p>

<p>Issuing a joint statement, both the organizations said that the agreement will help in the economic development of rural areas by uplifting the living standard of people below poverty line.</p>

<p>Speaking at the program, Nahakul KC said that there are a total of 425 co-operatives under PAF. &ldquo;These small co-operatives can&rsquo;t provide loan to the people in big amount. So, the collaboration with NCBL will help those small co-operatives to provide loan support to the people when needed,&rdquo; he said.</p>

<p>According to the statement, more than 32,000 community-based organizations have been established in 58&nbsp;districts with the support from PAF. Likewise, PAF also claims that almost a million households have benefitted from different programs of PAF.</p>

<p>Similarly, also speaking at the program, KB Upreti said that the agreement will help the government meet its target of poverty alleviation. He further added, &ldquo;Now the co-operatives under PAF will provide information regarding the community to NCBL, which will be beneficial for the rural community.&rdquo;</p>

<p>PAF has invested almost Rs 15 billion to establish 32,099 community organizations, which have benefitted almost a million households directly or indirectly.</p>

The expo is being organised by NCC in collaboration with the Ministry of Commerce as well as Trade and Export Promotion Centre. The five-day expo will conclude on December 4.</span></p>

<p>The expo will feature altogether 225 stalls from eight countries including Nepal, India, Thailand, Pakistan, Bangladesh, China, South Korea and Japan.</p>

<p>&ldquo;This expo will help the businessmen to showcase their products and establish them as a brand,&rdquo; said Rajesh Kaji Shrestha, president of NCC. The expo will have 23 stalls of automobile, electronics and cosmetics from South Korea and 15 stalls from Thailand. One of the main attractions of the expo are the Thai and Korean food stalls, the organisers said in a press conference on the eve of the event.</p>

<p>Tej Singh Bista, deputy director of Trade and Export Promotion Centre, said that the organisers are expecting around 300,000 visitors and transaction worth around Rs 2 billion during the five-day expo. &nbsp;</p>

The ministry has hired a consultancy firm to prepare a blueprint for the project. The consultancy firm will be responsible to prepare the detailed structure of the municipalities including the map and design of the city along with the basic requirements of the municipalites.</span></p>

<p>Dr Ramesh Singh, director general of the Department of Urban Development and Building Construction under the Ministry of Urban Development, said that it would cost Rs 905 million just to prepare a draft of the integrated infrastructure development plan.</p>

<p>According to the ministry, preparing the blueprint of each city will cost Rs 5 million. Similarly, it has been estimated that development of each city will cost Rs 5 billion.&nbsp; The cost will be decided on the basis of the size, population and potential of the area.</p>

<p>Earlier, the government had planned to implement the integrated urban development project in 90 metropolitan cities. However, now the plan has been amended and the strategy is to implement the project in 185 cities. The consultancy firm has said that the report for the urban development will be completed in two months.</p>

The program will be implemented with the assistance of the German government and funding from KfW Development Bank, reads a statement issued by Global IME Bank. An agreement to this effect between the concerned stakeholders was signed on Tuesday, November 29.</span></p>

<p>As per the agreement, the bank said it will provide entrepreneurs of rural areas with small and medium enterprises loan and agriculture loan with the financial and technical assistance of KfW Development Bank.</p>

<p>According to the business agreement, KfW will provide a total of 5 million euros (Rs Rs 515 million) to the Global IME Bank. The German bank will provide additional Rs 10 million to Global IME Bank at subsidized rate if it invests Rs 10 million.</p>

<p>Global IME Bank said it will provide loan ranging from a minimum amount of Rs 200,000 to the maximum of Rs 4 million to the people from rural areas utilizing the subsidized loan from the German bank.&nbsp;</p>
