<p>In June 2018 there will be a shift towards the so-called &ldquo;basic needs approach&rdquo; which will ensure WFP&rsquo;s continued support through 2018 for all Bhutanese refugees residing in the camps. Under this approach, especially vulnerable refugees, as defined by the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) (for example the elderly, those with disabilities, and vulnerable female headed households), will receive a cash entitlement equivalent to the full food ration, whereas other refugees will receive the cash equivalent of their current ration, WFP said in a recent statement.</p>

<p>WFP will provide the cash equivalent to the full rations (US$ 13 per person per month) to around 1,000 refugees deemed especially vulnerable, enabling them to purchase food of their choice in local markets. (This would add up to the 15 kilograms full ration, composed of a daily ration of 440 grams of rice, 90 grams of varied pulses and 25 grams of vegetable oil and equivalent of 2,100 calories per person per day). All other refugees will receive the cash equivalent to the in-kind reduced ration of 10 kg of rice per month (US$ 6.5 per person per month).</p>

<p>&ldquo;After 25 years of humanitarian assistance, WFP will shift from in-kind food assistance to cash distributions until the end of 2018&rdquo; said Pippa Bradford, WFP representative and country director for Nepal. &ldquo;WFP has sought a special allocation to ensure that for 2018 it can continue to provide full support to the refugees. WFP will also promote the expansion of vegetable gardens with tools, seeds and guidance, in order to complement the refugees&rsquo; food basket and promote self-reliance,&rdquo; she added.</p>

<p>WFP said it has been providing food assistance to Bhutanese refugees living in camps in eastern Nepal since 1992.</p>

<p>Addressing the &lsquo;International Conference on Public-sector Financial Management&rsquo; held in the capital on Saturday, May 12, Finance Minister Khatiwada said that that the government is committed for the improvement of Nepal&rsquo;s public financial management system to enhance its quality and strengthening public sector accounting through the implementation of international standards. The conference was organized jointly by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal (ICAN) and Public Expenditure and Financial Accountability (PEFA) secretariat in association with Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants (CAPA).</p>

<p>Over 250 accounting professionals including 60 international delegates participated in the conference that was held with a theme of &lsquo;Public Sector Financial Management: Enhanced Accountability and Transparency&rsquo; and discuss the ways to strengthen transparency, accountability and audit function in public sector.</p>

<p>Stating that the effective implementation of the medium-term expenditure framework was affected by political instability, he said that the tool is a must for making the government and its functions accountable and transparent. He pointed out the lack of reform and uniformity as key challenges in the public financial management system of the country.</p>

<p>&ldquo;In order to make the public financial management system more effective, we have to develop and utilize information technology, robust banking system and capable human resource,&rdquo; he added. During his speech, Finance Minister Khatiwada also urged the chartered accountants to become accountable and responsible toward their profession.&nbsp;</p>

<p>&ldquo;You must be ethical and financial discipline and transparency should be your priority in your profession,&rdquo; he said.</p>

<p>Prakash Jung Thapa, president of ICAN, emphasized for more involvement of professionals in government organizations for strengthening public sector financial management.</p>

<p>Similarly, speaking at the conference, Auditor General of Nepal, Tanka Mani Sharma, said that the effective implementation of public financial management system will help in making federalism a success in Nepal.</p>

<p>&ldquo;The current challenge is to make the federal system successful, and the public financial management system should be effective for the successful implementation of federalism,&rdquo; he added. He also urged professional accountants to undertake their duty with highest professional standards.</p>

<p>During the technical session of the conference, experts and stakeholders presented thematic papers on issues like integrated financial management system, public financial management governance and practices and country experiences, PSFM challenges and way forward in federal structure and strengthening audit function in public sector.</p>

Under this approach, especially vulnerable refugees, as defined by the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) (for example the elderly, those with disabilities, and vulnerable female headed households), will receive a cash entitlement equivalent to the full food ration, whereas other refugees will receive the cash equivalent of their current ration, WFP said in a recent statement.</p>

<p>WFP will provide the cash equivalent to the full rations (US$ 13 per person per month) to around 1,000 refugees deemed especially vulnerable, enabling them to purchase food of their choice in local markets. (This would add up to the 15 kilograms full ration, composed of a daily ration of 440 grams of rice, 90 grams of varied pulses and 25 grams of vegetable oil and equivalent of 2,100 calories per person per day). All other refugees will receive the cash equivalent to the in-kind reduced ration of 10 kg of rice per month (US$ 6.5 per person per month).</p>

<p>&ldquo;After 25 years of humanitarian assistance, WFP will shift from in-kind food assistance to cash distributions until the end of 2018&rdquo; said Pippa Bradford, WFP representative and country director for Nepal. &ldquo;WFP has sought a special allocation to ensure that for 2018 it can continue to provide full support to the refugees. WFP will also promote the expansion of vegetable gardens with tools, seeds and guidance, in order to complement the refugees&rsquo; food basket and promote self-reliance,&rdquo; she added.</p>

<p>Addressing the &lsquo;International Conference on Public-sector Financial Management&rsquo; held in the capital on Saturday, May 12, Finance Minister Khatiwada said that that the government is committed for the improvement of Nepal&rsquo;s public financial management system to enhance its quality and strengthening public sector accounting through the implementation of international standards. The conference was organized jointly by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal (ICAN) and Public Expenditure and Financial Accountability (PEFA) secretariat in association with Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants (CAPA).</p>

<p>Over 250 accounting professionals including 60 international delegates participated in the conference that was held with a theme of &lsquo;Public Sector Financial Management: Enhanced Accountability and Transparency&rsquo; and discuss the ways to strengthen transparency, accountability and audit function in public sector.</p>

<p>Stating that the effective implementation of the medium-term expenditure framework was affected by political instability, he said that the tool is a must for making the government and its functions accountable and transparent. He pointed out the lack of reform and uniformity as key challenges in the public financial management system of the country.</p>

<p>&ldquo;In order to make the public financial management system more effective, we have to develop and utilize information technology, robust banking system and capable human resource,&rdquo; he added. During his speech, Finance Minister Khatiwada also urged the chartered accountants to become accountable and responsible toward their profession.&nbsp;</p>

<p>&ldquo;You must be ethical and financial discipline and transparency should be your priority in your profession,&rdquo; he said.</p>

<p>Prakash Jung Thapa, president of ICAN, emphasized for more involvement of professionals in government organizations for strengthening public sector financial management.</p>

<p>Similarly, speaking at the conference, Auditor General of Nepal, Tanka Mani Sharma, said that the effective implementation of public financial management system will help in making federalism a success in Nepal.</p>

<p>&ldquo;The current challenge is to make the federal system successful, and the public financial management system should be effective for the successful implementation of federalism,&rdquo; he added. He also urged professional accountants to undertake their duty with highest professional standards.</p>

<p>During the technical session of the conference, experts and stakeholders presented thematic papers on issues like integrated financial management system, public financial management governance and practices and country experiences, PSFM challenges and way forward in federal structure and strengthening audit function in public sector.</p>

<p>In June 2018 there will be a shift towards the so-called &ldquo;basic needs approach&rdquo; which will ensure WFP&rsquo;s continued support through 2018 for all Bhutanese refugees residing in the camps. Under this approach, especially vulnerable refugees, as defined by the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) (for example the elderly, those with disabilities, and vulnerable female headed households), will receive a cash entitlement equivalent to the full food ration, whereas other refugees will receive the cash equivalent of their current ration, WFP said in a recent statement.</p>

<p>WFP will provide the cash equivalent to the full rations (US$ 13 per person per month) to around 1,000 refugees deemed especially vulnerable, enabling them to purchase food of their choice in local markets. (This would add up to the 15 kilograms full ration, composed of a daily ration of 440 grams of rice, 90 grams of varied pulses and 25 grams of vegetable oil and equivalent of 2,100 calories per person per day). All other refugees will receive the cash equivalent to the in-kind reduced ration of 10 kg of rice per month (US$ 6.5 per person per month).</p>

<p>&ldquo;After 25 years of humanitarian assistance, WFP will shift from in-kind food assistance to cash distributions until the end of 2018&rdquo; said Pippa Bradford, WFP representative and country director for Nepal. &ldquo;WFP has sought a special allocation to ensure that for 2018 it can continue to provide full support to the refugees. WFP will also promote the expansion of vegetable gardens with tools, seeds and guidance, in order to complement the refugees&rsquo; food basket and promote self-reliance,&rdquo; she added.</p>

<p>WFP said it has been providing food assistance to Bhutanese refugees living in camps in eastern Nepal since 1992.</p>

<p>Addressing the &lsquo;International Conference on Public-sector Financial Management&rsquo; held in the capital on Saturday, May 12, Finance Minister Khatiwada said that that the government is committed for the improvement of Nepal&rsquo;s public financial management system to enhance its quality and strengthening public sector accounting through the implementation of international standards. The conference was organized jointly by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal (ICAN) and Public Expenditure and Financial Accountability (PEFA) secretariat in association with Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants (CAPA).</p>

<p>Over 250 accounting professionals including 60 international delegates participated in the conference that was held with a theme of &lsquo;Public Sector Financial Management: Enhanced Accountability and Transparency&rsquo; and discuss the ways to strengthen transparency, accountability and audit function in public sector.</p>

<p>Stating that the effective implementation of the medium-term expenditure framework was affected by political instability, he said that the tool is a must for making the government and its functions accountable and transparent. He pointed out the lack of reform and uniformity as key challenges in the public financial management system of the country.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>&ldquo;In order to make the public financial management system more effective, we have to develop and utilize information technology, robust banking system and capable human resource,&rdquo; he added. During his speech, Finance Minister Khatiwada also urged the chartered accountants to become accountable and responsible toward their profession.&nbsp;</p>

<p>&ldquo;You must be ethical and financial discipline and transparency should be your priority in your profession,&rdquo; he said.</p>

<p>Prakash Jung Thapa, president of ICAN, emphasized for more involvement of professionals in government organizations for strengthening public sector financial management.</p>

<p>Similarly, speaking at the conference, Auditor General of Nepal, Tanka Mani Sharma, said that the effective implementation of public financial management system will help in making federalism a success in Nepal.</p>

<p>&ldquo;The current challenge is to make the federal system successful, and the public financial management system should be effective for the successful implementation of federalism,&rdquo; he added. He also urged professional accountants to undertake their duty with highest professional standards.</p>

<p>During the technical session of the conference, experts and stakeholders presented thematic papers on issues like integrated financial management system, public financial management governance and practices and country experiences, PSFM challenges and way forward in federal structure and strengthening audit function in public sector.</p>

<p>Gopal Khanal, the coordinator of the acquisition committee and Mega Bank&#39;s board member, said that the bank will be the best bank of the country on the basis of capital, networking and professionals after the acquisition. <p>This is the second acquisition of Mega Bank. Prior to this, Western Development Bank with its head office in Butwal was acquired by the bank.</p>

<p>In June 2018 there will be a shift towards the so-called &ldquo;basic needs approach&rdquo; which will ensure WFP&rsquo;s continued support through 2018 for all Bhutanese refugees residing in the camps. Under this approach, especially vulnerable refugees, as defined by the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) (for example the elderly, those with disabilities, and vulnerable female headed households), will receive a cash entitlement equivalent to the full food ration, whereas other refugees will receive the cash equivalent of their current ration, WFP said in a recent statement.</p>

<p>WFP will provide the cash equivalent to the full rations (US$ 13 per person per month) to around 1,000 refugees deemed especially vulnerable, enabling them to purchase food of their choice in local markets. (This would add up to the 15 kilograms full ration, composed of a daily ration of 440 grams of rice, 90 grams of varied pulses and 25 grams of vegetable oil and equivalent of 2,100 calories per person per day). All other refugees will receive the cash equivalent to the in-kind reduced ration of 10 kg of rice per month (US$ 6.5 per person per month).</p>

<p>&ldquo;After 25 years of humanitarian assistance, WFP will shift from in-kind food assistance to cash distributions until the end of 2018&rdquo; said Pippa Bradford, WFP representative and country director for Nepal. &ldquo;WFP has sought a special allocation to ensure that for 2018 it can continue to provide full support to the refugees. WFP will also promote the expansion of vegetable gardens with tools, seeds and guidance, in order to complement the refugees&rsquo; food basket and promote self-reliance,&rdquo; she added.</p>

<p>WFP said it has been providing food assistance to Bhutanese refugees living in camps in eastern Nepal since 1992.</p>

<p>Addressing the &lsquo;International Conference on Public-sector Financial Management&rsquo; held in the capital on Saturday, May 12, Finance Minister Khatiwada said that that the government is committed for the improvement of Nepal&rsquo;s public financial management system to enhance its quality and strengthening public sector accounting through the implementation of international standards. The conference was organized jointly by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal (ICAN) and Public Expenditure and Financial Accountability (PEFA) secretariat in association with Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants (CAPA).</p>

<p>Over 250 accounting professionals including 60 international delegates participated in the conference that was held with a theme of &lsquo;Public Sector Financial Management: Enhanced Accountability and Transparency&rsquo; and discuss the ways to strengthen transparency, accountability and audit function in public sector.</p>

<p>Stating that the effective implementation of the medium-term expenditure framework was affected by political instability, he said that the tool is a must for making the government and its functions accountable and transparent. He pointed out the lack of reform and uniformity as key challenges in the public financial management system of the country.</p>

<p>&ldquo;In order to make the public financial management system more effective, we have to develop and utilize information technology, robust banking system and capable human resource,&rdquo; he added. During his speech, Finance Minister Khatiwada also urged the chartered accountants to become accountable and responsible toward their profession.&nbsp;</p>

<p>&ldquo;You must be ethical and financial discipline and transparency should be your priority in your profession,&rdquo; he said.</p>

<p>Prakash Jung Thapa, president of ICAN, emphasized for more involvement of professionals in government organizations for strengthening public sector financial management.</p>

<p>Similarly, speaking at the conference, Auditor General of Nepal, Tanka Mani Sharma, said that the effective implementation of public financial management system will help in making federalism a success in Nepal.</p>

<p>&ldquo;The current challenge is to make the federal system successful, and the public financial management system should be effective for the successful implementation of federalism,&rdquo; he added. He also urged professional accountants to undertake their duty with highest professional standards.</p>

<p>During the technical session of the conference, experts and stakeholders presented thematic papers on issues like integrated financial management system, public financial management governance and practices and country experiences, PSFM challenges and way forward in federal structure and strengthening audit function in public sector.</p>
