The annual NLHDA Property Expo 2018 is organized by Nepal Housing and Land Developers Association, which is the apex industry body representing housing and land developers in Nepal.</p>

<p>The NLHDA Property Expo 2018 is a one-stop solution to the entire eco-system of the housing and land development sector of Nepal. While the core focus of the expo is on the real estate market and home buyers in Nepal, the event will cover the entire gamut of housing sector such as commercial and business property, architecture, construction, building, engineering, habitat environment among others, the organiser said in a statement.</p>

<p>According to NLHDA, the property expo is being organised in recognition of the tremendous growth in the housing market and its dominant role in the Nepalese economy.</p>

<p>&quot;Housing is also a fundamental socio-civic issue that has critical ramifications in politics and economy of Nepal. Real estate which includes residential homes, commercial properties, and farms is the largest component of the wealth of individual investors. Investment in housing accounts for 15-35 percent of aggregate investment. It is estimated that more than Rs 400 billion is now invested in real estate,&quot; reads the statement.</p>

<p>The organiser claimed that the housing market has been rebounding and has held steady growth ever since the 2015 earthquake.</p>

<p>&quot;Housing being a basic need for people, the perception of housing as a sound investment and the fast urbanization driven by rural migration to cities have all contributed to the organic growth of the housing and construction sector. Industry experts agree that Kathmandu valley accounts for 42 percent of the organized real estate sector and that the present annual national demand for houses and apartments is around 140,000 units, whereas Nepal is only able to construct 25,000 units per year. The real estate sector is recently thriving on around 200 percent growth despite the steep rise in land prices, which has been increasing at 40 to 50 percent and in housing construction, which has been increasing by 20 to 30 percent annually,&quot; the statement further said.</p>

<p>NLHDA said that the mushrooming housing market has presented tremendous opportunities to the industry which in turn are also overwhelming and complex challenges. According to NLHDA, urbanization is growing at a rapid rate of almost 39 percent, increasing the number of municipalities from 58 in 2011 to 217 to 2016. By 2023, 900,000 new constructions will be required to meet the demand for 1,364,000 homes nationally. Thus, it is against this socio-economic backdrop that NLHD Property Expo hopes to facilitate investment, production and transactions in the housing sector through interactions and networking so those opportunities can be consummated and the challenges met in the years to come.</p>

<p>The NLHDA Property Expo will host about 150 exhibitors covering an exhibition area of about 6000 sq meters both indoors and outdoors. Notable exhibits and exhibitors include commercial and building premises, interior design services, engineering firms, building and landscape architect firms, real estate agents, property developers and builder, building material suppliers and distributors, construction tools and equipment producers and dealers, banks and financial institutions, furniture and furnishings, ceramics, glass, wood, stone, sanitary ware, iron and steel, cement, lighting and electrical fixtures, paints, solar energy and waste management.</p>

<p>The website was inaugurated by the Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Rabindra Adhikari amid a function in Kathmandu on Monday, May 21.&nbsp;Speaking at the event organised to launch the website, minister Adhikari said that the footfall of Chinese tourists to Nepal is increasing each year. &ldquo;The newly launched website in Chinese language will help attract more number of tourists from the northern neighbor,&rdquo; he said.</p>

<p>The website includes information on major tourist destinations, religious sites, heritage sites, temples, mountains, rivers, among others.</p>

<p>Also speaking at the event, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Yu Hong said that this website will take the bilateral relations between the two countries to a new height, and will also promote cultural and economic partnerships through tourism.</p>

<p>The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Adaption Fund is contributing US$9.5 million to assist vulnerable people in Karnali by diversifying and strengthening the management of livelihoods over a four-year period through supporting income-generation projects and training for farmers, WFP said in a statement.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Villages in many parts of the Karnali region rely on marginal, unproductive land without irrigation, which cannot produce enough food for its people. Changing weather patterns have further worsened agricultural production for those living in Karnali,&rdquo; said Shakti Bahadur Basnet, minister for forests and environment. &ldquo;This contribution is important in order to increase adaptive capacity of climate vulnerable people and those with very little access to food,&rdquo; he concluded.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In the recent years, Nepal&rsquo;s food production has been affected by climate-related hazards, including droughts, landslides, floods and hailstorms.</p>

<p>&nbsp;&ldquo;There&rsquo;s no question that people living in Nepal&rsquo;s Himalayas are feeling the impact of climate change. The average temperature globally is now rising at a rate of almost one degree Celsius per decade and weather patterns across Nepal are changing,&rdquo; said Pippa Bradford, WFP Nepal representative and country director. &ldquo;It is imperative to work with farmers and villagers to protect and preserve their environment,&rdquo; she added.</p>

<p>The government-owned Nepal Food Security Monitoring System (NeKSAP) has reported recurrent natural calamities in mountain districts in Karnali and Province 7. The region saw bad winter droughts in 2006, 2009 and 2016, with serious consequences for food security. In 2016 alone, nearly 150,000 people in those areas experienced high levels of food insecurity and required humanitarian assistance. The region also experienced a dry spell during the 2017/2018 winter.</p>

The joint venture of Sharada Group from Nepal and Hongshi Group from China was established in Sardi of Nawalparasi with an investment of Rs 36 billion. The industry was inaugurated &nbsp;on Friday, May 18. In the first phase, the industry will be manufacturing 6,000 tonnes of cement per day although its optimum production capacity is 12,000 tonnes per day. Before this, the largest cement producer was Arghakhachi Cement which was manufacturing 3,000 tonnes of cement per day.</p>

<p>Hongshi Cement will be available in the market after getting NS (Nepal Standard) quality certification, informed Satish More, manager of Hongshi Shivam Cement.</p>

<p>According to the company, 1,000 Nepali and 400 Chinese workers will get employment as soon as the industry starts full-fledged operation.</p>

<p>The industry requires 80MW electricity for optimal performance. The current power requirement of the industry is 50MW but due to the lack of transmission line, the company is planning to produce electricity on its own.</p>

<p>The industry has its own clinker mine in Palpa but is importing limestone from elsewhere at present as the mine lacks access to road. Hongshi Shivan Cement industry is spread in 200 bighas of land. The industry will be manufacturing 920,000 tonnes of OPC cement and 1.38 million tonnes of PPC cement.</p>

<p>The journey started from Kathmandu and took the route of Kerung, Dingri, Shigatse, Lhasa, Yamdrok, Gyantse, Shigatse, Sakya, Drangthang, Dingri, Rongbuk to Everest Base Camp in the Tibetan side. They will be following the same route back to Kathmandu on May 30.</p>

<p>According to the business school, these scholarships are merit based and will be offered to students based on their prior academic performance. The school said that the scholarships will be offered to students on a first come first serve basis.</p>

<p>The announcement was made during a recent visit to Kathmandu of a delegation led by Professor Jane Hamilton, dean and head of La Trobe Business School.</p>

<p>The business school has announced November intake in addition to the two intakes for February and July semesters.</p>

<p>In an event organized in the capital on Sunday, May 20, Miss Nepal World 2018 Shrinkahala Khatiwada unveiled the new color variant of Fascino.</p>

<p>The launch was followed by scooter handover ceremony.&nbsp; Vishnu Kumar Agarwal, MD of MAW Enterprises, handed over the key of a brand new Fascino to Miss Nepal Shrinkala Khatiwada. She won &#39;Yamaha Face of Fascino&#39; along with the Miss Nepal World titles in the beauty pageant organized by The Hidden Treasure last month. She will be featuring in the advertising campaign of Yamaha Fascino throughout the year.</p>

<p>According to the company, the new color models continue to offer an air-cooled, 4-stroke, 113 cc, &#39;Blue Core&#39; engine with a continuous variable transmission (CVT) that offers great fuel efficiency at 66 km/L (under standard test conditions).</p>

<p>In addition to practical functions such as comfort and storage, the new Fascino also has features such as &nbsp;new body styling with dynamic curves embellished with chrome-plating placed on the front fascia along with a new Fascino emblem, a Blue Core engine with high combustion efficiency to offer among the best fuel efficiency in the class, weight of only 103 kg that contributes to both fuel efficiency and ease of handling, stylish new graphics on the front and the sides of the external body and dual tone seat-covers with a raise grab-bars to woe customers who value a sense of luxury and quality.</p>

<p>The company said that customers buying any of the Yamaha scooters will get up to 75 percent resale value on exchange with Yamaha motorcycles or scooters within one year of the date of purchase. Similarly, valuation after 12 to 18 months of the date of purchase will be 70 percent of the purchase invoiced amount while valuation between 18th and 24th month of the purchase will be 35 percent deduction from the purchase invoiced amount.</p>

<p>Durga Bhusal, spokesperson of DOI, said, &ldquo;The establishment and operation of industry depend on the market demand and objective of investors. So, fluctuation in the registration number is common.&rdquo; &nbsp;</p>

<p>Though the registration of industries has decreased, it has seen a rise in the number of industries in the field of energy and information technology. A total of 16 energy-based and 7 information technology industries were registered in the last FY whereas the number has increased to 32 and 17 respectively.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Energy-based industries have been increasing in number because of the increasing demand and the awareness regarding investment in hydroelectricity from the private sector,&rdquo; said Shailendra Guragain, chairman of Independent Power Producers&rsquo; Association (IPPAN).</p>

<p>The total capital of the industries registered in this FY is Rs 69.55 billion and 21,522 will get employment after their operation, according to the statistics of the DOI. &nbsp;</p>

<p>According to NLHDA, the property expo is being organised in recognition of the tremendous growth in the housing market and its dominant role in the Nepalese economy.</p>

<p>&quot;Housing is also a fundamental socio-civic issue that has critical ramifications in politics and economy of Nepal. Real estate which includes residential homes, commercial properties, and farms is the largest component of the wealth of individual investors. Investment in housing accounts for 15-35 percent of aggregate investment. It is estimated that more than Rs 400 billion is now invested in real estate,&quot; reads the statement.</p>

<p>The organiser claimed that the housing market has been rebounding and has held steady growth ever since the 2015 earthquake.</p>

<p>&quot;Housing being a basic need for people, the perception of housing as a sound investment and the fast urbanization driven by rural migration to cities have all contributed to the organic growth of the housing and construction sector. Industry experts agree that Kathmandu valley accounts for 42 percent of the organized real estate sector and that the present annual national demand for houses and apartments is around 140,000 units, whereas Nepal is only able to construct 25,000 units per year. The real estate sector is recently thriving on around 200 percent growth despite the steep rise in land prices, which has been increasing at 40 to 50 percent and in housing construction, which has been increasing by 20 to 30 percent annually,&quot; the statement further said.</p>

<p>NLHDA said that the mushrooming housing market has presented tremendous opportunities to the industry which in turn are also overwhelming and complex challenges. According to NLHDA, urbanization is growing at a rapid rate of almost 39 percent, increasing the number of municipalities from 58 in 2011 to 217 to 2016. By 2023, 900,000 new constructions will be required to meet the demand for 1,364,000 homes nationally. Thus, it is against this socio-economic backdrop that NLHD Property Expo hopes to facilitate investment, production and transactions in the housing sector through interactions and networking so those opportunities can be consummated and the challenges met in the years to come.</p>

<p>The NLHDA Property Expo will host about 150 exhibitors covering an exhibition area of about 6000 sq meters both indoors and outdoors. <p>The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Adaption Fund is contributing US$9.5 million to assist vulnerable people in Karnali by diversifying and strengthening the management of livelihoods over a four-year period through supporting income-generation projects and training for farmers, WFP said in a statement.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Villages in many parts of the Karnali region rely on marginal, unproductive land without irrigation, which cannot produce enough food for its people. Changing weather patterns have further worsened agricultural production for those living in Karnali,&rdquo; said Shakti Bahadur Basnet, minister for forests and environment. &ldquo;This contribution is important in order to increase adaptive capacity of climate vulnerable people and those with very little access to food,&rdquo; he concluded.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In the recent years, Nepal&rsquo;s food production has been affected by climate-related hazards, including droughts, landslides, floods and hailstorms.</p>

<p>&nbsp;&ldquo;There&rsquo;s no question that people living in Nepal&rsquo;s Himalayas are feeling the impact of climate change. The average temperature globally is now rising at a rate of almost one degree Celsius per decade and weather patterns across Nepal are changing,&rdquo; said Pippa Bradford, WFP Nepal representative and country director. &ldquo;It is imperative to work with farmers and villagers to protect and preserve their environment,&rdquo; she added.</p>

<p>The government-owned Nepal Food Security Monitoring System (NeKSAP) has reported recurrent natural calamities in mountain districts in Karnali and Province 7. The region saw bad winter droughts in 2006, 2009 and 2016, with serious consequences for food security. In 2016 alone, nearly 150,000 people in those areas experienced high levels of food insecurity and required humanitarian assistance. The region also experienced a dry spell during the 2017/2018 winter.</p>

The joint venture of Sharada Group from Nepal and Hongshi Group from China was established in Sardi of Nawalparasi with an investment of Rs 36 billion. The industry was inaugurated &nbsp;on Friday, May 18. In the first phase, the industry will be manufacturing 6,000 tonnes of cement per day although its optimum production capacity is 12,000 tonnes per day. Before this, the largest cement producer was Arghakhachi Cement which was manufacturing 3,000 tonnes of cement per day.</p>

<p>Hongshi Cement will be available in the market after getting NS (Nepal Standard) quality certification, informed Satish More, manager of Hongshi Shivam Cement.</p>

<p>According to the company, 1,000 Nepali and 400 Chinese workers will get employment as soon as the industry starts full-fledged operation.</p>

<p>The industry requires 80MW electricity for optimal performance. The current power requirement of the industry is 50MW but due to the lack of transmission line, the company is planning to produce electricity on its own.</p>

<p>The industry has its own clinker mine in Palpa but is importing limestone from elsewhere at present as the mine lacks access to road. Hongshi Shivan Cement industry is spread in 200 bighas of land. The industry will be manufacturing 920,000 tonnes of OPC cement and 1.38 million tonnes of PPC cement.</p>

According to the statistics of the Department of Industry (DOI), a total of 399 industries were registered under various categories in the first ten months of last FY 2016/17 while only 357 industries have been registered in the current FY 2017/18 so far.</p>

<p>Durga Bhusal, spokesperson of DOI, said, &ldquo;The establishment and operation of industry depend on the market demand and objective of investors. So, fluctuation in the registration number is common.&rdquo; &nbsp;</p>

<p>Though the registration of industries has decreased, it has seen a rise in the number of industries in the field of energy and information technology. A total of 16 energy-based and 7 information technology industries were registered in the last FY whereas the number has increased to 32 and 17 respectively.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Energy-based industries have been increasing in number because of the increasing demand and the awareness regarding investment in hydroelectricity from the private sector,&rdquo; said Shailendra Guragain, chairman of Independent Power Producers&rsquo; Association (IPPAN).</p>

<p>The total capital of the industries registered in this FY is Rs 69.55 billion and 21,522 will get employment after their operation, according to the statistics of the DOI. &nbsp;</p>

<p>According to NLHDA, the property expo is being organised in recognition of the tremendous growth in the housing market and its dominant role in the Nepalese economy.</p>

<p>&quot;Housing is also a fundamental socio-civic issue that has critical ramifications in politics and economy of Nepal. Real estate which includes residential homes, commercial properties, and farms is the largest component of the wealth of individual investors. Investment in housing accounts for 15-35 percent of aggregate investment. It is estimated that more than Rs 400 billion is now invested in real estate,&quot; reads the statement.</p>

<p>The organiser claimed that the housing market has been rebounding and has held steady growth ever since the 2015 earthquake.</p>

<p>&quot;Housing being a basic need for people, the perception of housing as a sound investment and the fast urbanization driven by rural migration to cities have all contributed to the organic growth of the housing and construction sector. Industry experts agree that Kathmandu valley accounts for 42 percent of the organized real estate sector and that the present annual national demand for houses and apartments is around 140,000 units, whereas Nepal is only able to construct 25,000 units per year. The real estate sector is recently thriving on around 200 percent growth despite the steep rise in land prices, which has been increasing at 40 to 50 percent and in housing construction, which has been increasing by 20 to 30 percent annually,&quot; the statement further said.</p>

<p>NLHDA said that the mushrooming housing market has presented tremendous opportunities to the industry which in turn are also overwhelming and complex challenges. According to NLHDA, urbanization is growing at a rapid rate of almost 39 percent, increasing the number of municipalities from 58 in 2011 to 217 to 2016. By 2023, 900,000 new constructions will be required to meet the demand for 1,364,000 homes nationally. Thus, it is against this socio-economic backdrop that NLHD Property Expo hopes to facilitate investment, production and transactions in the housing sector through interactions and networking so those opportunities can be consummated and the challenges met in the years to come.</p>

<p>The NLHDA Property Expo will host about 150 exhibitors covering an exhibition area of about 6000 sq meters both indoors and outdoors. <p>The website was inaugurated by the Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Rabindra Adhikari amid a function in Kathmandu on Monday, May 21.&nbsp;Speaking at the event organised to launch the website, minister Adhikari said that the footfall of Chinese tourists to Nepal is increasing each year. &ldquo;The newly launched website in Chinese language will help attract more number of tourists from the northern neighbor,&rdquo; he said.</p>

<p>The website includes information on major tourist destinations, religious sites, heritage sites, temples, mountains, rivers, among others.</p>

<p>Also speaking at the event, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Yu Hong said that this website will take the bilateral relations between the two countries to a new height, and will also promote cultural and economic partnerships through tourism.</p>

<p>The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Adaption Fund is contributing US$9.5 million to assist vulnerable people in Karnali by diversifying and strengthening the management of livelihoods over a four-year period through supporting income-generation projects and training for farmers, WFP said in a statement.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Villages in many parts of the Karnali region rely on marginal, unproductive land without irrigation, which cannot produce enough food for its people. Changing weather patterns have further worsened agricultural production for those living in Karnali,&rdquo; said Shakti Bahadur Basnet, minister for forests and environment. &ldquo;This contribution is important in order to increase adaptive capacity of climate vulnerable people and those with very little access to food,&rdquo; he concluded.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In the recent years, Nepal&rsquo;s food production has been affected by climate-related hazards, including droughts, landslides, floods and hailstorms.</p>

<p>&nbsp;&ldquo;There&rsquo;s no question that people living in Nepal&rsquo;s Himalayas are feeling the impact of climate change. The average temperature globally is now rising at a rate of almost one degree Celsius per decade and weather patterns across Nepal are changing,&rdquo; said Pippa Bradford, WFP Nepal representative and country director. &ldquo;It is imperative to work with farmers and villagers to protect and preserve their environment,&rdquo; she added.</p>

<p>The government-owned Nepal Food Security Monitoring System (NeKSAP) has reported recurrent natural calamities in mountain districts in Karnali and Province 7. The region saw bad winter droughts in 2006, 2009 and 2016, with serious consequences for food security. In 2016 alone, nearly 150,000 people in those areas experienced high levels of food insecurity and required humanitarian assistance. The region also experienced a dry spell during the 2017/2018 winter.</p>

In the first phase, the industry will be manufacturing 6,000 tonnes of cement per day although its optimum production capacity is 12,000 tonnes per day. Before this, the largest cement producer was Arghakhachi Cement which was manufacturing 3,000 tonnes of cement per day.</p>

<p>Hongshi Cement will be available in the market after getting NS (Nepal Standard) quality certification, informed Satish More, manager of Hongshi Shivam Cement.</p>

<p>According to the company, 1,000 Nepali and 400 Chinese workers will get employment as soon as the industry starts full-fledged operation.</p>

<p>The industry requires 80MW electricity for optimal performance. The current power requirement of the industry is 50MW but due to the lack of transmission line, the company is planning to produce electricity on its own.</p>

<p>The industry has its own clinker mine in Palpa but is importing limestone from elsewhere at present as the mine lacks access to road. Hongshi Shivan Cement industry is spread in 200 bighas of land. The industry will be manufacturing 920,000 tonnes of OPC cement and 1.38 million tonnes of PPC cement.</p>

<p>Though the registration of industries has decreased, it has seen a rise in the number of industries in the field of energy and information technology. A total of 16 energy-based and 7 information technology industries were registered in the last FY whereas the number has increased to 32 and 17 respectively.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Energy-based industries have been increasing in number because of the increasing demand and the awareness regarding investment in hydroelectricity from the private sector,&rdquo; said Shailendra Guragain, chairman of Independent Power Producers&rsquo; Association (IPPAN).</p>

<p>The total capital of the industries registered in this FY is Rs 69.55 billion and 21,522 will get employment after their operation, according to the statistics of the DOI. &nbsp;</p>

<p>The NLHDA Property Expo 2018 is a one-stop solution to the entire eco-system of the housing and land development sector of Nepal. While the core focus of the expo is on the real estate market and home buyers in Nepal, the event will cover the entire gamut of housing sector such as commercial and business property, architecture, construction, building, engineering, habitat environment among others, the organiser said in a statement.</p>

<p>According to NLHDA, the property expo is being organised in recognition of the tremendous growth in the housing market and its dominant role in the Nepalese economy.</p>

<p>&quot;Housing is also a fundamental socio-civic issue that has critical ramifications in politics and economy of Nepal. Real estate which includes residential homes, commercial properties, and farms is the largest component of the wealth of individual investors. Investment in housing accounts for 15-35 percent of aggregate investment. It is estimated that more than Rs 400 billion is now invested in real estate,&quot; reads the statement.</p>

<p>The organiser claimed that the housing market has been rebounding and has held steady growth ever since the 2015 earthquake.</p>

<p>&quot;Housing being a basic need for people, the perception of housing as a sound investment and the fast urbanization driven by rural migration to cities have all contributed to the organic growth of the housing and construction sector. Industry experts agree that Kathmandu valley accounts for 42 percent of the organized real estate sector and that the present annual national demand for houses and apartments is around 140,000 units, whereas Nepal is only able to construct 25,000 units per year. The real estate sector is recently thriving on around 200 percent growth despite the steep rise in land prices, which has been increasing at 40 to 50 percent and in housing construction, which has been increasing by 20 to 30 percent annually,&quot; the statement further said.</p>

<p>NLHDA said that the mushrooming housing market has presented tremendous opportunities to the industry which in turn are also overwhelming and complex challenges. According to NLHDA, urbanization is growing at a rapid rate of almost 39 percent, increasing the number of municipalities from 58 in 2011 to 217 to 2016. By 2023, 900,000 new constructions will be required to meet the demand for 1,364,000 homes nationally. Thus, it is against this socio-economic backdrop that NLHD Property Expo hopes to facilitate investment, production and transactions in the housing sector through interactions and networking so those opportunities can be consummated and the challenges met in the years to come.</p>

<p>The NLHDA Property Expo will host about 150 exhibitors covering an exhibition area of about 6000 sq meters both indoors and outdoors. Notable exhibits and exhibitors include commercial and building premises, interior design services, engineering firms, building and landscape architect firms, real estate agents, property developers and builder, building material suppliers and distributors, construction tools and equipment producers and dealers, banks and financial institutions, furniture and furnishings, ceramics, glass, wood, stone, sanitary ware, iron and steel, cement, lighting and electrical fixtures, paints, solar energy and waste management.</p>

<p>The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Adaption Fund is contributing US$9.5 million to assist vulnerable people in Karnali by diversifying and strengthening the management of livelihoods over a four-year period through supporting income-generation projects and training for farmers, WFP said in a statement.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Villages in many parts of the Karnali region rely on marginal, unproductive land without irrigation, which cannot produce enough food for its people. Changing weather patterns have further worsened agricultural production for those living in Karnali,&rdquo; said Shakti Bahadur Basnet, minister for forests and environment. &ldquo;This contribution is important in order to increase adaptive capacity of climate vulnerable people and those with very little access to food,&rdquo; he concluded.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In the recent years, Nepal&rsquo;s food production has been affected by climate-related hazards, including droughts, landslides, floods and hailstorms.</p>

<p>&nbsp;&ldquo;There&rsquo;s no question that people living in Nepal&rsquo;s Himalayas are feeling the impact of climate change. The average temperature globally is now rising at a rate of almost one degree Celsius per decade and weather patterns across Nepal are changing,&rdquo; said Pippa Bradford, WFP Nepal representative and country director. &ldquo;It is imperative to work with farmers and villagers to protect and preserve their environment,&rdquo; she added.</p>

<p>The government-owned Nepal Food Security Monitoring System (NeKSAP) has reported recurrent natural calamities in mountain districts in Karnali and Province 7. The region saw bad winter droughts in 2006, 2009 and 2016, with serious consequences for food security. In 2016 alone, nearly 150,000 people in those areas experienced high levels of food insecurity and required humanitarian assistance. The region also experienced a dry spell during the 2017/2018 winter.</p>

The joint venture of Sharada Group from Nepal and Hongshi Group from China was established in Sardi of Nawalparasi with an investment of Rs 36 billion. The industry was inaugurated &nbsp;on Friday, May 18. In the first phase, the industry will be manufacturing 6,000 tonnes of cement per day although its optimum production capacity is 12,000 tonnes per day. Before this, the largest cement producer was Arghakhachi Cement which was manufacturing 3,000 tonnes of cement per day.</p>

<p>Hongshi Cement will be available in the market after getting NS (Nepal Standard) quality certification, informed Satish More, manager of Hongshi Shivam Cement.</p>

<p>According to the company, 1,000 Nepali and 400 Chinese workers will get employment as soon as the industry starts full-fledged operation.</p>

<p>The industry requires 80MW electricity for optimal performance. The current power requirement of the industry is 50MW but due to the lack of transmission line, the company is planning to produce electricity on its own.</p>

<p>The industry has its own clinker mine in Palpa but is importing limestone from elsewhere at present as the mine lacks access to road. Hongshi Shivan Cement industry is spread in 200 bighas of land. The industry will be manufacturing 920,000 tonnes of OPC cement and 1.38 million tonnes of PPC cement.</p>

<p>According to the business school, these scholarships are merit based and will be offered to students based on their prior academic performance. The school said that the scholarships will be offered to students on a first come first serve basis.</p>

<p>The announcement was made during a recent visit to Kathmandu of a delegation led by Professor Jane Hamilton, dean and head of La Trobe Business School.</p>

<p>The business school has announced November intake in addition to the two intakes for February and July semesters.</p>

<p>In an event organized in the capital on Sunday, May 20, Miss Nepal World 2018 Shrinkahala Khatiwada unveiled the new color variant of Fascino.</p>

<p>The launch was followed by scooter handover ceremony.&nbsp; Vishnu Kumar Agarwal, MD of MAW Enterprises, handed over the key of a brand new Fascino to Miss Nepal Shrinkala Khatiwada. She won &#39;Yamaha Face of Fascino&#39; along with the Miss Nepal World titles in the beauty pageant organized by The Hidden Treasure last month. She will be featuring in the advertising campaign of Yamaha Fascino throughout the year.</p>

<p>According to the company, the new color models continue to offer an air-cooled, 4-stroke, 113 cc, &#39;Blue Core&#39; engine with a continuous variable transmission (CVT) that offers great fuel efficiency at 66 km/L (under standard test conditions).</p>

<p>In addition to practical functions such as comfort and storage, the new Fascino also has features such as &nbsp;new body styling with dynamic curves embellished with chrome-plating placed on the front fascia along with a new Fascino emblem, a Blue Core engine with high combustion efficiency to offer among the best fuel efficiency in the class, weight of only 103 kg that contributes to both fuel efficiency and ease of handling, stylish new graphics on the front and the sides of the external body and dual tone seat-covers with a raise grab-bars to woe customers who value a sense of luxury and quality.</p>

<p>The company said that customers buying any of the Yamaha scooters will get up to 75 percent resale value on exchange with Yamaha motorcycles or scooters within one year of the date of purchase. Similarly, valuation after 12 to 18 months of the date of purchase will be 70 percent of the purchase invoiced amount while valuation between 18th and 24th month of the purchase will be 35 percent deduction from the purchase invoiced amount.</p>

According to the statistics of the Department of Industry (DOI), a total of 399 industries were registered under various categories in the first ten months of last FY 2016/17 while only 357 industries have been registered in the current FY 2017/18 so far.</p>

<p>Durga Bhusal, spokesperson of DOI, said, &ldquo;The establishment and operation of industry depend on the market demand and objective of investors. So, fluctuation in the registration number is common.&rdquo; &nbsp;</p>

<p>Though the registration of industries has decreased, it has seen a rise in the number of industries in the field of energy and information technology. A total of 16 energy-based and 7 information technology industries were registered in the last FY whereas the number has increased to 32 and 17 respectively.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Energy-based industries have been increasing in number because of the increasing demand and the awareness regarding investment in hydroelectricity from the private sector,&rdquo; said Shailendra Guragain, chairman of Independent Power Producers&rsquo; Association (IPPAN).</p>

<p>The total capital of the industries registered in this FY is Rs 69.55 billion and 21,522 will get employment after their operation, according to the statistics of the DOI. &nbsp;</p>
