<p>Announcing the budget for the fiscal year 2018/19, Finance Minister Yuba Raj Khatiwada said that the government has lowered income tax for low and middle income people, while the tax for high earning individuals has increased.</p>

<p>The government has set three different rates for income tax. The rate of the taxes on incomes will be 10 percent, 20 percent and 30 percent.</p>

<p>The individuals earning up to Rs 350,000 annually should pay one percent of their earning as income tax. Similarly, the couples together earning Rs 400,000 should also pay one percent of earning as income tax.</p>

<p>Likewise, people having income in between Rs 350,000 to Rs 450,000 have to pay 10 percent from earning as tax. Similarly, people earning above Rs 450,000 will have to pay 20 percent, and individuals having annual income in between Rs 650,000 to Rs 2 million will have to pay 30 percent of their income as tax.</p>

<p>Similarly, people earning more than Rs 2 million will have to pay additional 20 percent more tax (ie 50 percent) than the tax levied by the government in the current fiscal year.</p>

<p>Despite suggestions of Nepal Rastra Bank&#39;s Governor Dr Chiranjivi Nepal not to disburse loan in risky areas, commercial banks have disbursed a total amount of Rs 33 billion as non-performing loan. This was revealed by the statistics maintained by Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) as of mid-April this year.</p>

<p>The central bank has defined good debt and loans under meticulous surveillance as &lsquo;active loans&rsquo; and termed weak, suspicious and bad debt as &lsquo;non-performing loans&rsquo;.</p>

<p>According to the loan categorisation of NRB, the loans which have not been repaid for more than six months are called weak loans. Loans amounting to Rs 10 billion was disbursed by commercial banks of Nepal as of mid-April, 2018. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>The directive will help the Banks and Financial Institutions (BFIs) to assess the environment and social security risk involved in the transactions of their customers and help to mitigate such risks.</p>

<p>The directive will set a standard for identifying the environment and social (E&amp;S) risks, their assessment and management.</p>

<p>One of the major risks for financial institutions is related to credit and market. However, the risk also depends on how the customers manage the E&amp;S risk that could arise by transaction with the clients.&nbsp; If this issue is not addressed on time, this can affect the standard of BFIs and also cause the loss of revenue of the BFIs.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Proper ERSM practice will minimize the potential risks, create business opportunities and also improve regional competitiveness of BFIs,&rdquo; said NRB Governor Chiranjivi Nepal. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>&ldquo;It is important for Nepal to implement this practice as this will minimize business risk, develop trust in the market and help in attracting investment,&rdquo; &nbsp;said Wendy Werner, country manager of IFC for Nepal, Bangladesh and Bhutan. She said that IFC will continuously support to implement ERSM guidelines in Nepal.</p>

The SMEs registered during the period have provided employment to 4,100 people. According to the economic survey of the year 2074/75 which was announced on Sunday, May 27, Province 3 has the highest number of SMEs followed by Province 5, Province 1, Province 2, Province 4, Province 7 and Province 6.</p>

<p>As of now, there are 405,000 SMEs in the country among which 123,342 were opened in the last five years.</p>

<p>Altogether 39,813 SMEs have been registered between 2070/2071 and the current FY in Province 3. Among them, 5, 532 SMEs in Province 3 have been registered only in the current FY.</p>

<p>In Province 1, a total of 16, 174 SMEs have been registered in the last five years. Similarly, Province 2 saw registration of 15,727 new SMEs in the last five years. Likewise, in the last eight months of the current FY, 1,904 SMEs have been registered in Province 1 and 3,187 SMEs in Province 2.</p>

<p>Likewise, 13,422 SMEs have been registered in Province 4 between 2070/71 and the current FY. Among them, 2,371 SMEs have been registered only in the current FY.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, in Province 5, &nbsp;a total of 24,044 SMEs have been registered in the last five years. Among them, 3,774 SMEs have been registered in the current FY.</p>

<p>In Province 6, Karnali, 5,274 SMEs have been registered in the last five years. Among them, 506 SMEs were registered in the last eight months of current FY.</p>

<p>Similarly, 8,908 SMEs were registered in Province 7 in the last five years. Among them, 1,288 SMEs were registered in the last eight months of the current FY.</p>

<p>The company will submit the final report of the feasibility study within six months, said Li Hongqi.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Shakya claimed that the monorail will come into operation during his tenure.</p>

<p>Mayor of Lalitpur Metropolitan City, Chiri Babu Maharjan, said that monorail will cover around 10 km of Lalitpur. He expressed his commitment to create appropriate environment for its operation in the area.</p>

<p>Announcing the budget for the fiscal year 2018/19, Finance Minister Yuba Raj Khatiwada said that the government has lowered income tax for low and middle income people, while the tax for high earning individuals has increased.</p>

<p>The government has set three different rates for income tax. The rate of the taxes on incomes will be 10 percent, 20 percent and 30 percent.</p>

<p>The individuals earning up to Rs 350,000 annually should pay one percent of their earning as income tax. Similarly, the couples together earning Rs 400,000 should also pay one percent of earning as income tax.</p>

<p>Likewise, people having income in between Rs 350,000 to Rs 450,000 have to pay 10 percent from earning as tax. Similarly, people earning above Rs 450,000 will have to pay 20 percent, and individuals having annual income in between Rs 650,000 to Rs 2 million will have to pay 30 percent of their income as tax.</p>

<p>Similarly, people earning more than Rs 2 million will have to pay additional 20 percent more tax (ie 50 percent) than the tax levied by the government in the current fiscal year.</p>

This was revealed by the statistics maintained by Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) as of mid-April this year.</p>

<p>The central bank has defined good debt and loans under meticulous surveillance as &lsquo;active loans&rsquo; and termed weak, suspicious and bad debt as &lsquo;non-performing loans&rsquo;.</p>

<p>According to the loan categorisation of NRB, the loans which have not been repaid for more than six months are called weak loans. Loans amounting to Rs 10 billion was disbursed by commercial banks of Nepal as of mid-April, 2018. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>One of the major risks for financial institutions is related to credit and market. However, the risk also depends on how the customers manage the E&amp;S risk that could arise by transaction with the clients.&nbsp; If this issue is not addressed on time, this can affect the standard of BFIs and also cause the loss of revenue of the BFIs.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Proper ERSM practice will minimize the potential risks, create business opportunities and also improve regional competitiveness of BFIs,&rdquo; said NRB Governor Chiranjivi Nepal. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>&ldquo;It is important for Nepal to implement this practice as this will minimize business risk, develop trust in the market and help in attracting investment,&rdquo; &nbsp;said Wendy Werner, country manager of IFC for Nepal, Bangladesh and Bhutan. She said that IFC will continuously support to implement ERSM guidelines in Nepal.</p>

<p>Likewise, 13,422 SMEs have been registered in Province 4 between 2070/71 and the current FY. Among them, 2,371 SMEs have been registered only in the current FY.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, in Province 5, &nbsp;a total of 24,044 SMEs have been registered in the last five years. Among them, 3,774 SMEs have been registered in the current FY.</p>

<p>In Province 6, Karnali, 5,274 SMEs have been registered in the last five years. Among them, 506 SMEs were registered in the last eight months of current FY.</p>

<p>Announcing the budget for the fiscal year 2018/19, Finance Minister Yuba Raj Khatiwada said that the government has lowered income tax for low and middle income people, while the tax for high earning individuals has increased.</p>

<p>The government has set three different rates for income tax. The rate of the taxes on incomes will be 10 percent, 20 percent and 30 percent.</p>

<p>The individuals earning up to Rs 350,000 annually should pay one percent of their earning as income tax. Similarly, the couples together earning Rs 400,000 should also pay one percent of earning as income tax.</p>

<p>Likewise, people having income in between Rs 350,000 to Rs 450,000 have to pay 10 percent from earning as tax. Similarly, people earning above Rs 450,000 will have to pay 20 percent, and individuals having annual income in between Rs 650,000 to Rs 2 million will have to pay 30 percent of their income as tax.</p>

<p>Similarly, people earning more than Rs 2 million will have to pay additional 20 percent more tax (ie 50 percent) than the tax levied by the government in the current fiscal year.</p>

<p>Despite suggestions of Nepal Rastra Bank&#39;s Governor Dr Chiranjivi Nepal not to disburse loan in risky areas, commercial banks have disbursed a total amount of Rs 33 billion as non-performing loan. This was revealed by the statistics maintained by Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) as of mid-April this year.</p>

<p>The central bank has defined good debt and loans under meticulous surveillance as &lsquo;active loans&rsquo; and termed weak, suspicious and bad debt as &lsquo;non-performing loans&rsquo;.</p>

<p>According to the loan categorisation of NRB, the loans which have not been repaid for more than six months are called weak loans. Loans amounting to Rs 10 billion was disbursed by commercial banks of Nepal as of mid-April, 2018. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>The directive will help the Banks and Financial Institutions (BFIs) to assess the environment and social security risk involved in the transactions of their customers and help to mitigate such risks.</p>

<p>The directive will set a standard for identifying the environment and social (E&amp;S) risks, their assessment and management.</p>

<p>One of the major risks for financial institutions is related to credit and market. However, the risk also depends on how the customers manage the E&amp;S risk that could arise by transaction with the clients.&nbsp; If this issue is not addressed on time, this can affect the standard of BFIs and also cause the loss of revenue of the BFIs.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Proper ERSM practice will minimize the potential risks, create business opportunities and also improve regional competitiveness of BFIs,&rdquo; said NRB Governor Chiranjivi Nepal. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>&ldquo;It is important for Nepal to implement this practice as this will minimize business risk, develop trust in the market and help in attracting investment,&rdquo; &nbsp;said Wendy Werner, country manager of IFC for Nepal, Bangladesh and Bhutan. She said that IFC will continuously support to implement ERSM guidelines in Nepal.</p>

<p>As of now, there are 405,000 SMEs in the country among which 123,342 were opened in the last five years.</p>

<p>Altogether 39,813 SMEs have been registered between 2070/2071 and the current FY in Province 3. Among them, 5, 532 SMEs in Province 3 have been registered only in the current FY.</p>

<p>In Province 1, a total of 16, 174 SMEs have been registered in the last five years. Similarly, Province 2 saw registration of 15,727 new SMEs in the last five years. Likewise, in the last eight months of the current FY, 1,904 SMEs have been registered in Province 1 and 3,187 SMEs in Province 2.</p>

<p>Likewise, 13,422 SMEs have been registered in Province 4 between 2070/71 and the current FY. Among them, 2,371 SMEs have been registered only in the current FY.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, in Province 5, &nbsp;a total of 24,044 SMEs have been registered in the last five years. Among them, 3,774 SMEs have been registered in the current FY.</p>

<p>In Province 6, Karnali, 5,274 SMEs have been registered in the last five years. Among them, 506 SMEs were registered in the last eight months of current FY.</p>

<p>Similarly, 8,908 SMEs were registered in Province 7 in the last five years. Among them, 1,288 SMEs were registered in the last eight months of the current FY.</p>

<p>Following the agreement, the metropolitan city forwarded the procedure for the feasibility study of operating monorail along the 27-km Ring Road. The monorail is expected to ease the traffic congestion of the Kathmandu Valley.</p>

<p>The company will submit the final report of the feasibility study within six months, said Li Hongqi.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Shakya claimed that the monorail will come into operation during his tenure.</p>

<p>Mayor of Lalitpur Metropolitan City, Chiri Babu Maharjan, said that monorail will cover around 10 km of Lalitpur. He expressed his commitment to create appropriate environment for its operation in the area.</p>

<p>Announcing the budget for the fiscal year 2018/19, Finance Minister Yuba Raj Khatiwada said that the government has lowered income tax for low and middle income people, while the tax for high earning individuals has increased.</p>

<p>The government has set three different rates for income tax. The rate of the taxes on incomes will be 10 percent, 20 percent and 30 percent.</p>

<p>The individuals earning up to Rs 350,000 annually should pay one percent of their earning as income tax. Similarly, the couples together earning Rs 400,000 should also pay one percent of earning as income tax.</p>

<p>Likewise, people having income in between Rs 350,000 to Rs 450,000 have to pay 10 percent from earning as tax. Similarly, people earning above Rs 450,000 will have to pay 20 percent, and individuals having annual income in between Rs 650,000 to Rs 2 million will have to pay 30 percent of their income as tax.</p>

<p>Similarly, people earning more than Rs 2 million will have to pay additional 20 percent more tax (ie 50 percent) than the tax levied by the government in the current fiscal year.</p>

<p>Despite suggestions of Nepal Rastra Bank&#39;s Governor Dr Chiranjivi Nepal not to disburse loan in risky areas, commercial banks have disbursed a total amount of Rs 33 billion as non-performing loan. This was revealed by the statistics maintained by Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) as of mid-April this year.</p>

<p>The central bank has defined good debt and loans under meticulous surveillance as &lsquo;active loans&rsquo; and termed weak, suspicious and bad debt as &lsquo;non-performing loans&rsquo;.</p>

<p>According to the loan categorisation of NRB, the loans which have not been repaid for more than six months are called weak loans. Loans amounting to Rs 10 billion was disbursed by commercial banks of Nepal as of mid-April, 2018. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>One of the major risks for financial institutions is related to credit and market. However, the risk also depends on how the customers manage the E&amp;S risk that could arise by transaction with the clients.&nbsp; If this issue is not addressed on time, this can affect the standard of BFIs and also cause the loss of revenue of the BFIs.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Proper ERSM practice will minimize the potential risks, create business opportunities and also improve regional competitiveness of BFIs,&rdquo; said NRB Governor Chiranjivi Nepal. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>&ldquo;It is important for Nepal to implement this practice as this will minimize business risk, develop trust in the market and help in attracting investment,&rdquo; &nbsp;said Wendy Werner, country manager of IFC for Nepal, Bangladesh and Bhutan. She said that IFC will continuously support to implement ERSM guidelines in Nepal.</p>

<p>Hari Bhakta Sharma, president of Confederation of Nepalese Industries said that Nepali politics has successfully tackled its internal struggle which has created hope for better economic prospects.</p>

<p>&quot;How the government will implement economic possibilities in the budget is an important part to see. There is space for hope and we are waiting on how it will be implemented,&rdquo; Sharma added.</p>

<p>As of now, there are 405,000 SMEs in the country among which 123,342 were opened in the last five years.</p>

<p>In Province 1, a total of 16, 174 SMEs have been registered in the last five years. Similarly, Province 2 saw registration of 15,727 new SMEs in the last five years. Likewise, in the last eight months of the current FY, 1,904 SMEs have been registered in Province 1 and 3,187 SMEs in Province 2.</p>

<p>Likewise, 13,422 SMEs have been registered in Province 4 between 2070/71 and the current FY. Among them, 2,371 SMEs have been registered only in the current FY.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, in Province 5, &nbsp;a total of 24,044 SMEs have been registered in the last five years. Among them, 3,774 SMEs have been registered in the current FY.</p>

<p>In Province 6, Karnali, 5,274 SMEs have been registered in the last five years. Among them, 506 SMEs were registered in the last eight months of current FY.</p>

<p>Similarly, 8,908 SMEs were registered in Province 7 in the last five years. Among them, 1,288 SMEs were registered in the last eight months of the current FY.</p>

<p>The company will submit the final report of the feasibility study within six months, said Li Hongqi.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Shakya claimed that the monorail will come into operation during his tenure.</p>

<p>Mayor of Lalitpur Metropolitan City, Chiri Babu Maharjan, said that monorail will cover around 10 km of Lalitpur. He expressed his commitment to create appropriate environment for its operation in the area.</p>
