<p>&ldquo;It is critical to identify who are missing vaccination and reach them with lifesaving vaccines. Equity and improving vaccination coverage is the key to preventing resurgence of diseases, especially the ones eradicated with painstaking efforts, and for further reducing diseases and deaths among children,&rdquo; said Dr Poonam Khetrapal Singh, regional director WHO South-East Asia, inaugurating a three-day meeting of Immunization Technical Advisory Group in New Delhi.</p>

<p>The WHO said in a statement that the South-East Asia Region records about 37 million births every year, of them over 88% children are now getting three doses of diphtheria, pertussis and tetanus (DPT) vaccines annually, an indicator of basic vaccination coverage.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Mapping hard-to-reach areas and population, addressing social and cultural and other barriers for them to access immunization services, and closely monitoring these activities for progress, should be among our immediate priorities,&rdquo; the statement quoted the regional director as saying.</p>

<p>Many countries are making impressive efforts, such as India&rsquo;s Mission Indradhanush focusing on 190 districts; Indonesia&rsquo;s intensified drive in 80 districts, Myanmar&rsquo;s urban immunization intensification targeting 29 townships; Nepal&rsquo;s efforts to achieve full-immunization at sub-district level; and Timor Leste&rsquo;s community outreach and twinning programme with Sri Lanka for capacity building of vaccination programme officials.</p>

<p>In Cox&rsquo;s Bazar, Bangladesh, nine massive vaccination campaigns delivered more than 4.5 million doses of life saving vaccines to the Rohingya refugees. These efforts successfully averted outbreaks of deadly diseases such as cholera and measles and helped rapidly curtail diphtheria outbreak among this vulnerable population.</p>

<p>Growing political commitment, stronger partnerships, and relentless efforts of thousands of health workers and vaccinators, are collectively helping save millions of lives in the Region, Dr Khetrapal Singh said.</p>

<p>Member States have added several new vaccines to their immunization schedules such as for protection against pneumonia, diarrhea, Japanese Encephalitis and cervical cancer. Hepatitis B control is getting an impetus with vaccination.</p>

<p>The region continues to be polio-free and maintains its maternal and neonatal tetanus elimination status, the statement claimed.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to the WHO, two countries &ndash; Bhutan and the Maldives &ndash; have eliminated measles, a flagship priority programme of WHO South-East Asia Region. All countries have introduced two doses of measles and rubella vaccines in their immunization schedule. Measles and rubella vaccination campaigns are planned to reach nearly 400 million children and adolescents in 2018-2019.</p>

<p>The Immunization Technical Advisory Group meeting, convened by WHO, is being attended by international experts, representatives of national immunization technical advisory bodies and immunization programme managers of member states of WHO South-East Asia Region, as well as partners and donors, such as UNICEF, US Centers for Disease Control and Gavi, The Vaccine Alliance. The Advisory Group will review the ongoing efforts and challenges to reduce the burden of various vaccine-preventable diseases, and explore ways of strengthening routine immunization and achieving measles elimination and rubella control in member states of the region.</p>

This year, Israel is celebrating its 70 years of independence and 60 years of the establishment of MASHAV (Israel&#39;s agency for International Development Cooperation under its foreign ministry), which has been assisting Nepal since the establishment of the diplomatic relations in 1960, through development cooperation, particularly in the capacity building of the human resources and humanitarian activities.</p>

<p>&ldquo;To celebrate this special occasion, the Embassy of Israel in Kathmandu has decided to use the budget allocated for its Independence Day celebration for a special cause, to give the way forward in the lives of children with disabilities by making their mobility accessible and increase independence. The Lions Club of Kathmandu Capital District 325-A2 and Karuna Foundation Nepal have collaborated with the Embassy for this noble cause,&rdquo; the embassy said in a statement.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to the embassy, 40 &#39;Wheelchairs of Hope&#39; specially designed for children were distributed to children with disabilities by the chief guest Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, minister for Foreign Affairs, at a special function organized in Kathmandu.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Addressing the function Minister Gyawali thanked the Government of Israel for providing the wheelchair to Nepalese children with disability. &ldquo;The wheelchair will greatly enhance the mobility of the children with disability in Nepal. Since the establishment of relations between the two countries, Israel has been providing very meaningful support to Nepal. The newly developed wheelchair is another milestone,&rdquo; the statement uoted Minister Gyawali as saying.</p>

<p>Speaking during the program, Ambassador of Israel to Nepal, Benny Omer, expressed his satisfaction for the embassy&rsquo;s contribution to this humanitarian cause and hoped that these children would benefit from the specially designed, light and comfortable wheelchairs for the freedom of their movement and expressed his commitment for more of such activities in the future.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, Prof Dr Bhagawan Koirala, vice chairperson of Karuna Foundation Nepal, highlighted on the activities of Karuna Foundation Nepal in the areas of prevention of childhood disabilities and improvement of quality of lives of the children/adults with disabilities and their families. He further mentioned that environmental and attitudinal barriers are the major challenges for the people with disabilities in Nepal and further stressed that the time has come to break all barriers and myths to include this population into the mainstream.</p>

<p>The Embassy expressed its belief that such humanitarian activities would further strengthen the bilateral relations between Nepal and Israel, not only at the government level but also at grassroots level and between people to people, which is a very important component in the development of friendship.</p>

He broke his ankle in the incident while working in a construction site.&nbsp; Sunar&rsquo;s dependency on crutches came to an end after a successful operation of his injured leg.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Sunar can now comfortably walk and ride bikes normally after receiving the treatment at A&amp;B International Hospital.&nbsp; Doctor Rabi Mohan Dhakal said he and his medical team from A&amp;B in Bindawasni, Pokhara had successfully operated the injured ankle of Krishna Kumar Sunar by using American medical technology.</p>

<p>Sarda Subedi living in New Road, Pokhara too had similar circumstances. She had been suffering from knee problems since a long time. Her pain made it unbearable for her to walk. She was compelled to use wheelchair to move. But her situation fortunately changed after receiving treatment at A&amp;B Hospital. According to the hospital, she can walk without wheelchair now. Subedi is very thankful to the medical team led by Dr Dhakal for helping her stand on her feet again.</p>

<p>Dr Dhakal has returned back to Nepal after specializing in joints and nerves treatment in the United States. He is currently working with A&amp;B International Hospital, Pokhara and has already treated numerous patients like Krishna and Sharda. He along with the hospital administration jointly introduced the American treatment technology and has successfully treated patients suffering from joints and nerves problems.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>Dr Dhakal informed that his medical team in A&amp;B uses special metal during operation of patients suffering from joint injuries to help them walk back successfully.</p>

<p>The hospital said it imports the metal directly from the United State to perform the operation. Dr Dhakal and his team have succeeded in treating ten individuals at A&amp;B within a span of eight months.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>Krishna Khatiwada, managing director of A&amp;B International Hospital informed that the hospital has succeeded to provide international standard medical services to the patients.</p>

<p>A&amp;B Hospital was previously established as AB Care and Rehabilitation Center in 2008 and was upgraded to A&amp;B International Hospital from last year.</p>

<p>Nepal Airlines Cooperation (NAC), the national flag carrier of Nepal, has been troubled the most. According to Saugat Ratna Kansakar, managing director of NAC, the company has been affected by the scarcity of pilots. NAC, despite announcing vacancy for the post of pilots repeatedly, has not received sufficient application for enrollment.</p>

<p>NAC needs a total of 116 pilots and co-pilots to operate its entire fleet of aircraft but it currently has a team of 88 pilots only.</p>

<p>The flag carrier recently landed its first Airbus A330-220 wide-body aircraft and is in the process of acquiring another such plane for which NAC needs 28 more pilots.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>NAC is recruiting pilots from abroad after analyzing the situation in the country. Kansakar informed that the airline troubled by the scarcity of manpower has been compelled to recruit foreigners.</p>

<p>We don&rsquo;t want to obstruct the operation of our wide-body Airbus aircraft, for which we are acquiring pilots from abroad, he informed.</p>

<p>Additionally, he mentioned that the team had been working to acquire the required manpower including pilots and engineers months before acquiring the aircraft.</p>

<p>NAC has received permit from the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal and the department of labor to recruit foreign pilots.</p>

<p>Kansakar informed that two Airbus A320 narrow-body aircraft are currently operated by a team of Nepali pilots and the airline wants to handover the A330 aircraft to Nepali pilots within two years duration by training them.</p>

<p>The WHO said in a statement that the South-East Asia Region records about 37 million births every year, of them over 88% children are now getting three doses of diphtheria, pertussis and tetanus (DPT) vaccines annually, an indicator of basic vaccination coverage.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Mapping hard-to-reach areas and population, addressing social and cultural and other barriers for them to access immunization services, and closely monitoring these activities for progress, should be among our immediate priorities,&rdquo; the statement quoted the regional director as saying.</p>

<p>Many countries are making impressive efforts, such as India&rsquo;s Mission Indradhanush focusing on 190 districts; Indonesia&rsquo;s intensified drive in 80 districts, Myanmar&rsquo;s urban immunization intensification targeting 29 townships; Nepal&rsquo;s efforts to achieve full-immunization at sub-district level; and Timor Leste&rsquo;s community outreach and twinning programme with Sri Lanka for capacity building of vaccination programme officials.</p>

<p>In Cox&rsquo;s Bazar, Bangladesh, nine massive vaccination campaigns delivered more than 4.5 million doses of life saving vaccines to the Rohingya refugees. These efforts successfully averted outbreaks of deadly diseases such as cholera and measles and helped rapidly curtail diphtheria outbreak among this vulnerable population.</p>

<p>Growing political commitment, stronger partnerships, and relentless efforts of thousands of health workers and vaccinators, are collectively helping save millions of lives in the Region, Dr Khetrapal Singh said.</p>

<p>Member States have added several new vaccines to their immunization schedules such as for protection against pneumonia, diarrhea, Japanese Encephalitis and cervical cancer. Hepatitis B control is getting an impetus with vaccination.</p>

<p>The region continues to be polio-free and maintains its maternal and neonatal tetanus elimination status, the statement claimed.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to the WHO, two countries &ndash; Bhutan and the Maldives &ndash; have eliminated measles, a flagship priority programme of WHO South-East Asia Region. All countries have introduced two doses of measles and rubella vaccines in their immunization schedule. Measles and rubella vaccination campaigns are planned to reach nearly 400 million children and adolescents in 2018-2019.</p>

<p>The Immunization Technical Advisory Group meeting, convened by WHO, is being attended by international experts, representatives of national immunization technical advisory bodies and immunization programme managers of member states of WHO South-East Asia Region, as well as partners and donors, such as UNICEF, US Centers for Disease Control and Gavi, The Vaccine Alliance. The Advisory Group will review the ongoing efforts and challenges to reduce the burden of various vaccine-preventable diseases, and explore ways of strengthening routine immunization and achieving measles elimination and rubella control in member states of the region.</p>

This year, Israel is celebrating its 70 years of independence and 60 years of the establishment of MASHAV (Israel&#39;s agency for International Development Cooperation under its foreign ministry), which has been assisting Nepal since the establishment of the diplomatic relations in 1960, through development cooperation, particularly in the capacity building of the human resources and humanitarian activities.</p>

<p>&ldquo;To celebrate this special occasion, the Embassy of Israel in Kathmandu has decided to use the budget allocated for its Independence Day celebration for a special cause, to give the way forward in the lives of children with disabilities by making their mobility accessible and increase independence. The Lions Club of Kathmandu Capital District 325-A2 and Karuna Foundation Nepal have collaborated with the Embassy for this noble cause,&rdquo; the embassy said in a statement.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to the embassy, 40 &#39;Wheelchairs of Hope&#39; specially designed for children were distributed to children with disabilities by the chief guest Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, minister for Foreign Affairs, at a special function organized in Kathmandu.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Addressing the function Minister Gyawali thanked the Government of Israel for providing the wheelchair to Nepalese children with disability. &ldquo;The wheelchair will greatly enhance the mobility of the children with disability in Nepal. Since the establishment of relations between the two countries, Israel has been providing very meaningful support to Nepal. The newly developed wheelchair is another milestone,&rdquo; the statement uoted Minister Gyawali as saying.</p>

<p>Speaking during the program, Ambassador of Israel to Nepal, Benny Omer, expressed his satisfaction for the embassy&rsquo;s contribution to this humanitarian cause and hoped that these children would benefit from the specially designed, light and comfortable wheelchairs for the freedom of their movement and expressed his commitment for more of such activities in the future.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, Prof Dr Bhagawan Koirala, vice chairperson of Karuna Foundation Nepal, highlighted on the activities of Karuna Foundation Nepal in the areas of prevention of childhood disabilities and improvement of quality of lives of the children/adults with disabilities and their families. He further mentioned that environmental and attitudinal barriers are the major challenges for the people with disabilities in Nepal and further stressed that the time has come to break all barriers and myths to include this population into the mainstream.</p>

<p>The Embassy expressed its belief that such humanitarian activities would further strengthen the bilateral relations between Nepal and Israel, not only at the government level but also at grassroots level and between people to people, which is a very important component in the development of friendship.</p>

<p>Sunar can now comfortably walk and ride bikes normally after receiving the treatment at A&amp;B International Hospital.&nbsp; Doctor Rabi Mohan Dhakal said he and his medical team from A&amp;B in Bindawasni, Pokhara had successfully operated the injured ankle of Krishna Kumar Sunar by using American medical technology.</p>

<p>Sarda Subedi living in New Road, Pokhara too had similar circumstances. She had been suffering from knee problems since a long time. Her pain made it unbearable for her to walk. He along with the hospital administration jointly introduced the American treatment technology and has successfully treated patients suffering from joints and nerves problems.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>Dr Dhakal informed that his medical team in A&amp;B uses special metal during operation of patients suffering from joint injuries to help them walk back successfully.</p>

<p>The hospital said it imports the metal directly from the United State to perform the operation. Dr Dhakal and his team have succeeded in treating ten individuals at A&amp;B within a span of eight months.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>Krishna Khatiwada, managing director of A&amp;B International Hospital informed that the hospital has succeeded to provide international standard medical services to the patients.</p>

<p>A&amp;B Hospital was previously established as AB Care and Rehabilitation Center in 2008 and was upgraded to A&amp;B International Hospital from last year.</p>

<p>Nepal Airlines Cooperation (NAC), the national flag carrier of Nepal, has been troubled the most. According to Saugat Ratna Kansakar, managing director of NAC, the company has been affected by the scarcity of pilots. NAC, despite announcing vacancy for the post of pilots repeatedly, has not received sufficient application for enrollment.</p>

<p>NAC needs a total of 116 pilots and co-pilots to operate its entire fleet of aircraft but it currently has a team of 88 pilots only.</p>

<p>The flag carrier recently landed its first Airbus A330-220 wide-body aircraft and is in the process of acquiring another such plane for which NAC needs 28 more pilots.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>NAC is recruiting pilots from abroad after analyzing the situation in the country. Kansakar informed that the airline troubled by the scarcity of manpower has been compelled to recruit foreigners.</p>

<p>We don&rsquo;t want to obstruct the operation of our wide-body Airbus aircraft, for which we are acquiring pilots from abroad, he informed.</p>

<p>Additionally, he mentioned that the team had been working to acquire the required manpower including pilots and engineers months before acquiring the aircraft.</p>

<p>NAC has received permit from the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal and the department of labor to recruit foreign pilots.</p>

<p>Kansakar informed that two Airbus A320 narrow-body aircraft are currently operated by a team of Nepali pilots and the airline wants to handover the A330 aircraft to Nepali pilots within two years duration by training them.</p>

<p>The branches were inaugurated during an event at the bank&rsquo;s head office in Kathmandu. Rajan Singh Bhandari, CEO of Citizens Bank International, started the financial operation of all the four branches through a computer.</p>

<p>CEO Bhandari during the occasion informed that the bank inaugurated 14 new branches in the fiscal year 2017-18. He also informed that the bank is planning to operate new branches in Mohanyal, Tokha and Thankot.</p>

<p>The bank informed that it will operate all kinds of transactions under the policies of the local government and Nepal Rastra Bank from the branches.</p>

<p>The bank is currently providing service with a network of 99 branches and 70 ATMs.</p>

<p>&ldquo;It is critical to identify who are missing vaccination and reach them with lifesaving vaccines. Equity and improving vaccination coverage is the key to preventing resurgence of diseases, especially the ones eradicated with painstaking efforts, and for further reducing diseases and deaths among children,&rdquo; said Dr Poonam Khetrapal Singh, regional director WHO South-East Asia, inaugurating a three-day meeting of Immunization Technical Advisory Group in New Delhi.</p>

<p>The WHO said in a statement that the South-East Asia Region records about 37 million births every year, of them over 88% children are now getting three doses of diphtheria, pertussis and tetanus (DPT) vaccines annually, an indicator of basic vaccination coverage.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Mapping hard-to-reach areas and population, addressing social and cultural and other barriers for them to access immunization services, and closely monitoring these activities for progress, should be among our immediate priorities,&rdquo; the statement quoted the regional director as saying.</p>

<p>Many countries are making impressive efforts, such as India&rsquo;s Mission Indradhanush focusing on 190 districts; Indonesia&rsquo;s intensified drive in 80 districts, Myanmar&rsquo;s urban immunization intensification targeting 29 townships; Nepal&rsquo;s efforts to achieve full-immunization at sub-district level; and Timor Leste&rsquo;s community outreach and twinning programme with Sri Lanka for capacity building of vaccination programme officials.</p>

<p>In Cox&rsquo;s Bazar, Bangladesh, nine massive vaccination campaigns delivered more than 4.5 million doses of life saving vaccines to the Rohingya refugees. These efforts successfully averted outbreaks of deadly diseases such as cholera and measles and helped rapidly curtail diphtheria outbreak among this vulnerable population.</p>

<p>Growing political commitment, stronger partnerships, and relentless efforts of thousands of health workers and vaccinators, are collectively helping save millions of lives in the Region, Dr Khetrapal Singh said.</p>

<p>Member States have added several new vaccines to their immunization schedules such as for protection against pneumonia, diarrhea, Japanese Encephalitis and cervical cancer. Hepatitis B control is getting an impetus with vaccination.</p>

<p>The region continues to be polio-free and maintains its maternal and neonatal tetanus elimination status, the statement claimed.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to the WHO, two countries &ndash; Bhutan and the Maldives &ndash; have eliminated measles, a flagship priority programme of WHO South-East Asia Region. All countries have introduced two doses of measles and rubella vaccines in their immunization schedule. Measles and rubella vaccination campaigns are planned to reach nearly 400 million children and adolescents in 2018-2019.</p>

<p>The Immunization Technical Advisory Group meeting, convened by WHO, is being attended by international experts, representatives of national immunization technical advisory bodies and immunization programme managers of member states of WHO South-East Asia Region, as well as partners and donors, such as UNICEF, US Centers for Disease Control and Gavi, The Vaccine Alliance. The Advisory Group will review the ongoing efforts and challenges to reduce the burden of various vaccine-preventable diseases, and explore ways of strengthening routine immunization and achieving measles elimination and rubella control in member states of the region.</p>

This year, Israel is celebrating its 70 years of independence and 60 years of the establishment of MASHAV (Israel&#39;s agency for International Development Cooperation under its foreign ministry), which has been assisting Nepal since the establishment of the diplomatic relations in 1960, through development cooperation, particularly in the capacity building of the human resources and humanitarian activities.</p>

<p>&ldquo;To celebrate this special occasion, the Embassy of Israel in Kathmandu has decided to use the budget allocated for its Independence Day celebration for a special cause, to give the way forward in the lives of children with disabilities by making their mobility accessible and increase independence. The Lions Club of Kathmandu Capital District 325-A2 and Karuna Foundation Nepal have collaborated with the Embassy for this noble cause,&rdquo; the embassy said in a statement.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to the embassy, 40 &#39;Wheelchairs of Hope&#39; specially designed for children were distributed to children with disabilities by the chief guest Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, minister for Foreign Affairs, at a special function organized in Kathmandu.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Addressing the function Minister Gyawali thanked the Government of Israel for providing the wheelchair to Nepalese children with disability. &ldquo;The wheelchair will greatly enhance the mobility of the children with disability in Nepal. Since the establishment of relations between the two countries, Israel has been providing very meaningful support to Nepal. The newly developed wheelchair is another milestone,&rdquo; the statement uoted Minister Gyawali as saying.</p>

<p>Speaking during the program, Ambassador of Israel to Nepal, Benny Omer, expressed his satisfaction for the embassy&rsquo;s contribution to this humanitarian cause and hoped that these children would benefit from the specially designed, light and comfortable wheelchairs for the freedom of their movement and expressed his commitment for more of such activities in the future.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, Prof Dr Bhagawan Koirala, vice chairperson of Karuna Foundation Nepal, highlighted on the activities of Karuna Foundation Nepal in the areas of prevention of childhood disabilities and improvement of quality of lives of the children/adults with disabilities and their families. He further mentioned that environmental and attitudinal barriers are the major challenges for the people with disabilities in Nepal and further stressed that the time has come to break all barriers and myths to include this population into the mainstream.</p>

<p>Sunar can now comfortably walk and ride bikes normally after receiving the treatment at A&amp;B International Hospital.&nbsp; Doctor Rabi Mohan Dhakal said he and his medical team from A&amp;B in Bindawasni, Pokhara had successfully operated the injured ankle of Krishna Kumar Sunar by using American medical technology.</p>

<p>Sarda Subedi living in New Road, Pokhara too had similar circumstances. She had been suffering from knee problems since a long time. Her pain made it unbearable for her to walk. She was compelled to use wheelchair to move. But her situation fortunately changed after receiving treatment at A&amp;B Hospital. According to the hospital, she can walk without wheelchair now. Subedi is very thankful to the medical team led by Dr Dhakal for helping her stand on her feet again.</p>

<p>Dr Dhakal has returned back to Nepal after specializing in joints and nerves treatment in the United States. He is currently working with A&amp;B International Hospital, Pokhara and has already treated numerous patients like Krishna and Sharda. He along with the hospital administration jointly introduced the American treatment technology and has successfully treated patients suffering from joints and nerves problems.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>Dr Dhakal informed that his medical team in A&amp;B uses special metal during operation of patients suffering from joint injuries to help them walk back successfully.</p>

<p>The hospital said it imports the metal directly from the United State to perform the operation. Dr Dhakal and his team have succeeded in treating ten individuals at A&amp;B within a span of eight months.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>Krishna Khatiwada, managing director of A&amp;B International Hospital informed that the hospital has succeeded to provide international standard medical services to the patients.</p>

<p>A&amp;B Hospital was previously established as AB Care and Rehabilitation Center in 2008 and was upgraded to A&amp;B International Hospital from last year.</p>

<p>Nepal Airlines Cooperation (NAC), the national flag carrier of Nepal, has been troubled the most. According to Saugat Ratna Kansakar, managing director of NAC, the company has been affected by the scarcity of pilots. NAC, despite announcing vacancy for the post of pilots repeatedly, has not received sufficient application for enrollment.</p>

<p>NAC needs a total of 116 pilots and co-pilots to operate its entire fleet of aircraft but it currently has a team of 88 pilots only.</p>

<p>The flag carrier recently landed its first Airbus A330-220 wide-body aircraft and is in the process of acquiring another such plane for which NAC needs 28 more pilots.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>NAC is recruiting pilots from abroad after analyzing the situation in the country. Kansakar informed that the airline troubled by the scarcity of manpower has been compelled to recruit foreigners.</p>

<p>We don&rsquo;t want to obstruct the operation of our wide-body Airbus aircraft, for which we are acquiring pilots from abroad, he informed.</p>

<p>Additionally, he mentioned that the team had been working to acquire the required manpower including pilots and engineers months before acquiring the aircraft.</p>

<p>NAC has received permit from the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal and the department of labor to recruit foreign pilots.</p>

<p>Kansakar informed that two Airbus A320 narrow-body aircraft are currently operated by a team of Nepali pilots and the airline wants to handover the A330 aircraft to Nepali pilots within two years duration by training them.</p>

<p>&ldquo;It is critical to identify who are missing vaccination and reach them with lifesaving vaccines. Equity and improving vaccination coverage is the key to preventing resurgence of diseases, especially the ones eradicated with painstaking efforts, and for further reducing diseases and deaths among children,&rdquo; said Dr Poonam Khetrapal Singh, regional director WHO South-East Asia, inaugurating a three-day meeting of Immunization Technical Advisory Group in New Delhi.</p>

<p>The WHO said in a statement that the South-East Asia Region records about 37 million births every year, of them over 88% children are now getting three doses of diphtheria, pertussis and tetanus (DPT) vaccines annually, an indicator of basic vaccination coverage.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Mapping hard-to-reach areas and population, addressing social and cultural and other barriers for them to access immunization services, and closely monitoring these activities for progress, should be among our immediate priorities,&rdquo; the statement quoted the regional director as saying.</p>

<p>Many countries are making impressive efforts, such as India&rsquo;s Mission Indradhanush focusing on 190 districts; Indonesia&rsquo;s intensified drive in 80 districts, Myanmar&rsquo;s urban immunization intensification targeting 29 townships; Nepal&rsquo;s efforts to achieve full-immunization at sub-district level; and Timor Leste&rsquo;s community outreach and twinning programme with Sri Lanka for capacity building of vaccination programme officials.</p>

<p>In Cox&rsquo;s Bazar, Bangladesh, nine massive vaccination campaigns delivered more than 4.5 million doses of life saving vaccines to the Rohingya refugees. These efforts successfully averted outbreaks of deadly diseases such as cholera and measles and helped rapidly curtail diphtheria outbreak among this vulnerable population.</p>

<p>Growing political commitment, stronger partnerships, and relentless efforts of thousands of health workers and vaccinators, are collectively helping save millions of lives in the Region, Dr Khetrapal Singh said.</p>

<p>Member States have added several new vaccines to their immunization schedules such as for protection against pneumonia, diarrhea, Japanese Encephalitis and cervical cancer. Hepatitis B control is getting an impetus with vaccination.</p>

<p>The region continues to be polio-free and maintains its maternal and neonatal tetanus elimination status, the statement claimed.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to the WHO, two countries &ndash; Bhutan and the Maldives &ndash; have eliminated measles, a flagship priority programme of WHO South-East Asia Region. All countries have introduced two doses of measles and rubella vaccines in their immunization schedule. Measles and rubella vaccination campaigns are planned to reach nearly 400 million children and adolescents in 2018-2019.</p>

<p>The Immunization Technical Advisory Group meeting, convened by WHO, is being attended by international experts, representatives of national immunization technical advisory bodies and immunization programme managers of member states of WHO South-East Asia Region, as well as partners and donors, such as UNICEF, US Centers for Disease Control and Gavi, The Vaccine Alliance. The Advisory Group will review the ongoing efforts and challenges to reduce the burden of various vaccine-preventable diseases, and explore ways of strengthening routine immunization and achieving measles elimination and rubella control in member states of the region.</p>

<p>Addressing the function Minister Gyawali thanked the Government of Israel for providing the wheelchair to Nepalese children with disability. &ldquo;The wheelchair will greatly enhance the mobility of the children with disability in Nepal. Since the establishment of relations between the two countries, Israel has been providing very meaningful support to Nepal. The newly developed wheelchair is another milestone,&rdquo; the statement uoted Minister Gyawali as saying.</p>

<p>Speaking during the program, Ambassador of Israel to Nepal, Benny Omer, expressed his satisfaction for the embassy&rsquo;s contribution to this humanitarian cause and hoped that these children would benefit from the specially designed, light and comfortable wheelchairs for the freedom of their movement and expressed his commitment for more of such activities in the future.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, Prof Dr Bhagawan Koirala, vice chairperson of Karuna Foundation Nepal, highlighted on the activities of Karuna Foundation Nepal in the areas of prevention of childhood disabilities and improvement of quality of lives of the children/adults with disabilities and their families. He further mentioned that environmental and attitudinal barriers are the major challenges for the people with disabilities in Nepal and further stressed that the time has come to break all barriers and myths to include this population into the mainstream.</p>

<p>The Embassy expressed its belief that such humanitarian activities would further strengthen the bilateral relations between Nepal and Israel, not only at the government level but also at grassroots level and between people to people, which is a very important component in the development of friendship.</p>

He along with the hospital administration jointly introduced the American treatment technology and has successfully treated patients suffering from joints and nerves problems.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>Dr Dhakal informed that his medical team in A&amp;B uses special metal during operation of patients suffering from joint injuries to help them walk back successfully.</p>

<p>The hospital said it imports the metal directly from the United State to perform the operation. Dr Dhakal and his team have succeeded in treating ten individuals at A&amp;B within a span of eight months.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>Krishna Khatiwada, managing director of A&amp;B International Hospital informed that the hospital has succeeded to provide international standard medical services to the patients.</p>

<p>A&amp;B Hospital was previously established as AB Care and Rehabilitation Center in 2008 and was upgraded to A&amp;B International Hospital from last year.</p>

<p>Nepal Airlines Cooperation (NAC), the national flag carrier of Nepal, has been troubled the most. According to Saugat Ratna Kansakar, managing director of NAC, the company has been affected by the scarcity of pilots. NAC, despite announcing vacancy for the post of pilots repeatedly, has not received sufficient application for enrollment.</p>

<p>NAC needs a total of 116 pilots and co-pilots to operate its entire fleet of aircraft but it currently has a team of 88 pilots only.</p>

<p>The flag carrier recently landed its first Airbus A330-220 wide-body aircraft and is in the process of acquiring another such plane for which NAC needs 28 more pilots.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>NAC is recruiting pilots from abroad after analyzing the situation in the country. Kansakar informed that the airline troubled by the scarcity of manpower has been compelled to recruit foreigners.</p>

<p>We don&rsquo;t want to obstruct the operation of our wide-body Airbus aircraft, for which we are acquiring pilots from abroad, he informed.</p>

<p>Additionally, he mentioned that the team had been working to acquire the required manpower including pilots and engineers months before acquiring the aircraft.</p>

<p>NAC has received permit from the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal and the department of labor to recruit foreign pilots.</p>

<p>Kansakar informed that two Airbus A320 narrow-body aircraft are currently operated by a team of Nepali pilots and the airline wants to handover the A330 aircraft to Nepali pilots within two years duration by training them.</p>

<p>The branches were inaugurated during an event at the bank&rsquo;s head office in Kathmandu. Rajan Singh Bhandari, CEO of Citizens Bank International, started the financial operation of all the four branches through a computer.</p>

<p>CEO Bhandari during the occasion informed that the bank inaugurated 14 new branches in the fiscal year 2017-18. He also informed that the bank is planning to operate new branches in Mohanyal, Tokha and Thankot.</p>

<p>The bank informed that it will operate all kinds of transactions under the policies of the local government and Nepal Rastra Bank from the branches.</p>

<p>The bank is currently providing service with a network of 99 branches and 70 ATMs.</p>
