<p>Bournemouth University said in a statement that the study looked into the working conditions of Nepalese migrant workers, especially in the Gulf countries.</p>

<p>The study concluded that raising awareness among female migrant workers can make a change in their working lives. The study found that female migrant workers face work-related health risks, which are often related to exploitation. Thus, recruiting agencies/employers should provide information on health risks and training for preventive measures, said the statement released on January 3.</p>

<p>Figures from the Department of Foreign Employment of Nepal have shown that over 176,000 Nepali women were granted labour permits to work abroad since records started in 2008, traveling mainly to the UAE, Kuwait, Malaysia, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Cyprus and Jordan. Since 2016, Nepalese authorities outlawed labour permits for domestic work in the Gulf, amidst reports of the abuse of Nepalese migrants working as maids in the region, the statement said.</p>

<p>A dissemination session, held in January, looked to highlight issues within the female migrant worker minority group, at which Bournemouth University&rsquo;s study exploring the healthcare problems of more than 1,000 migrant returnees aged 14-51 was shared. Speaking about the study, Professor Edwin van Teijlingen at Bournemouth University stressed, &ldquo;It is important that the people publish their findings either positive or negative so that others can learn from it. Publishing good quality-research in Nepal ensures a wider global audience.&rdquo;</p>

<p>Findings reflected that more than a quarter of women had experienced health problems working abroad. Fever, accidents and severe illness were commonly reported, alongside with working without breaks. It was also found that migrant women who are illiterate, had been severely maltreated or tortured in the workplace, were not being paid on time, and migrant women who had family problems at home were significantly associated with health problems in their host country in the Middle East, the statement further said.</p>

<p>Liverpool John Moores University&rsquo;s Professor Padam Simkhada said, &ldquo;This is one of several projects we are working on in the field of health and migration.&nbsp; It combines both health and human rights issues.&rdquo; He added: &ldquo;We often forget that working aboard offers female migrant workers an opportunity to learn new skills that are of use when returning home.&rdquo;</p>

<p>The study and the subsequent dissemination session also raised questioned over Nepalese government intervention.</p>

<p>Concerns were also raised over the current ban on women working domestically in the Gulf region, as many Nepalese migrants defy this to travel illegally, thus encountering additional risk, with an 8.95 per cent increase in Nepalese applications to work in other industries abroad seen just a year after the restrictions were imposed.</p>

<p>The UK universities worked alongside two Nepalese organisations, Green Tara Nepal and POURAKHI Nepal, in this research.</p>

<p>Sharing the decision taken by the cabinet on December 28 and 31, government spokesperson Gokul Banskota said on Thursday that the government has also decided to give a grant of Rs 65.28 per quintal to the sugarcane farmers. Hence, the sugar industries need to pay the sugarcane farmers Rs 471 per quintal, according to a news report published by Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS).</p>

<p>According to Spokesperson Banskota, the government has decided to upgrade five hospitals including the Koshi Zonal Hospital in Biratnagar, Narayani Sub-regional Hospital in Birgunj, Bharatpur Hospital in Chitwan, Bheri Zonal Hospital in Nepalgunj and Dadeldhura Sub-regional Hospital in Dadeldhura.</p>

<p>According to Agrawal, the producers have been selling sugar at Rs 55 per kg due to which the industrialists are facing great loss in the business. Because of this, the industrialists are facing difficulties to pay the due amount to the sugarcane farmers.</p>

<p>Speaking at a discussion program organised by the Industry, Commerce, Labor and Consumer Welfare Protection Committee on Wednesday, Agrawal said, &ldquo;If this condition persists, , the industrialists will not be able to pay the remaining amount. The government must take the responsibility for paying the debt.&rdquo;</p>

<p>According to him, the industrialists will be able to pay the due amount to the sugarcane farmers only the government fixes the price of sugar in a scientific way.</p>

<p>Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supply Matrika Prasad Yadav appealed to the sugar producers to continue their production. He assured that the government is ready for discussion with sugar the industrialists.</p>

<p>Blaming the industrialists for inflating the price of sugar, Minister Yadav urged the sugar producers look at the whole picture by putting themselves on the shoes of the general public.</p>

<p>&ldquo;It has been found that the price of sugar has been increased at the whims of the producers. And when we request them to stop this, the sugar industrialists threaten to shut their industries,&rdquo; he said, adding, &ldquo;The government imposed a ban on the import of sugar upon the suggestion of the sugar industrialists. The government is in the favor of the industrialists/ traders, and they also need to support the government by running the industries properly.&rdquo;</p>

<p>He clarified that the government cannot increase the price of sugar in a way that it affects the customers. He said that the ministry is working to fix the price of sugarcane and sugar within two days.</p>

<p>Bournemouth University said in a statement that the study looked into the working conditions of Nepalese migrant workers, especially in the Gulf countries.</p>

<p>The study concluded that raising awareness among female migrant workers can make a change in their working lives. The study found that female migrant workers face work-related health risks, which are often related to exploitation. Thus, recruiting agencies/employers should provide information on health risks and training for preventive measures, said the statement released on January 3.</p>

<p>Figures from the Department of Foreign Employment of Nepal have shown that over 176,000 Nepali women were granted labour permits to work abroad since records started in 2008, traveling mainly to the UAE, Kuwait, Malaysia, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Cyprus and Jordan. Since 2016, Nepalese authorities outlawed labour permits for domestic work in the Gulf, amidst reports of the abuse of Nepalese migrants working as maids in the region, the statement said.</p>

<p>A dissemination session, held in January, looked to highlight issues within the female migrant worker minority group, at which Bournemouth University&rsquo;s study exploring the healthcare problems of more than 1,000 migrant returnees aged 14-51 was shared. Speaking about the study, Professor Edwin van Teijlingen at Bournemouth University stressed, &ldquo;It is important that the people publish their findings either positive or negative so that others can learn from it. Publishing good quality-research in Nepal ensures a wider global audience.&rdquo;</p>

<p>Findings reflected that more than a quarter of women had experienced health problems working abroad. Fever, accidents and severe illness were commonly reported, alongside with working without breaks. It was also found that migrant women who are illiterate, had been severely maltreated or tortured in the workplace, were not being paid on time, and migrant women who had family problems at home were significantly associated with health problems in their host country in the Middle East, the statement further said.</p>

<p>Liverpool John Moores University&rsquo;s Professor Padam Simkhada said, &ldquo;This is one of several projects we are working on in the field of health and migration.&nbsp; It combines both health and human rights issues.&rdquo; He added: &ldquo;We often forget that working aboard offers female migrant workers an opportunity to learn new skills that are of use when returning home.&rdquo;</p>

<p>The study and the subsequent dissemination session also raised questioned over Nepalese government intervention.</p>

<p>Concerns were also raised over the current ban on women working domestically in the Gulf region, as many Nepalese migrants defy this to travel illegally, thus encountering additional risk, with an 8.95 per cent increase in Nepalese applications to work in other industries abroad seen just a year after the restrictions were imposed.</p>

<p>The UK universities worked alongside two Nepalese organisations, Green Tara Nepal and POURAKHI Nepal, in this research.</p>

<p>Speaking at a discussion program organised by the Industry, Commerce, Labor and Consumer Welfare Protection Committee on Wednesday, Agrawal said, &ldquo;If this condition persists, , the industrialists will not be able to pay the remaining amount. The government must take the responsibility for paying the debt.&rdquo;</p>

<p>According to him, the industrialists will be able to pay the due amount to the sugarcane farmers only the government fixes the price of sugar in a scientific way.</p>

<p>Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supply Matrika Prasad Yadav appealed to the sugar producers to continue their production. He assured that the government is ready for discussion with sugar the industrialists.</p>

<p>Blaming the industrialists for inflating the price of sugar, Minister Yadav urged the sugar producers look at the whole picture by putting themselves on the shoes of the general public.</p>

<p>&ldquo;It has been found that the price of sugar has been increased at the whims of the producers. And when we request them to stop this, the sugar industrialists threaten to shut their industries,&rdquo; he said, adding, &ldquo;The government imposed a ban on the import of sugar upon the suggestion of the sugar industrialists. The government is in the favor of the industrialists/ traders, and they also need to support the government by running the industries properly.&rdquo;</p>

<p>Bournemouth University said in a statement that the study looked into the working conditions of Nepalese migrant workers, especially in the Gulf countries.</p>

<p>The study concluded that raising awareness among female migrant workers can make a change in their working lives. The study found that female migrant workers face work-related health risks, which are often related to exploitation. Thus, recruiting agencies/employers should provide information on health risks and training for preventive measures, said the statement released on January 3.</p>

<p>Figures from the Department of Foreign Employment of Nepal have shown that over 176,000 Nepali women were granted labour permits to work abroad since records started in 2008, traveling mainly to the UAE, Kuwait, Malaysia, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Cyprus and Jordan. Since 2016, Nepalese authorities outlawed labour permits for domestic work in the Gulf, amidst reports of the abuse of Nepalese migrants working as maids in the region, the statement said.</p>

<p>A dissemination session, held in January, looked to highlight issues within the female migrant worker minority group, at which Bournemouth University&rsquo;s study exploring the healthcare problems of more than 1,000 migrant returnees aged 14-51 was shared. Speaking about the study, Professor Edwin van Teijlingen at Bournemouth University stressed, &ldquo;It is important that the people publish their findings either positive or negative so that others can learn from it. Publishing good quality-research in Nepal ensures a wider global audience.&rdquo;</p>

<p>Findings reflected that more than a quarter of women had experienced health problems working abroad. Fever, accidents and severe illness were commonly reported, alongside with working without breaks. It was also found that migrant women who are illiterate, had been severely maltreated or tortured in the workplace, were not being paid on time, and migrant women who had family problems at home were significantly associated with health problems in their host country in the Middle East, the statement further said.</p>

<p>Liverpool John Moores University&rsquo;s Professor Padam Simkhada said, &ldquo;This is one of several projects we are working on in the field of health and migration.&nbsp; It combines both health and human rights issues.&rdquo; He added: &ldquo;We often forget that working aboard offers female migrant workers an opportunity to learn new skills that are of use when returning home.&rdquo;</p>

<p>The study and the subsequent dissemination session also raised questioned over Nepalese government intervention.</p>

<p>Concerns were also raised over the current ban on women working domestically in the Gulf region, as many Nepalese migrants defy this to travel illegally, thus encountering additional risk, with an 8.95 per cent increase in Nepalese applications to work in other industries abroad seen just a year after the restrictions were imposed.</p>

<p>The UK universities worked alongside two Nepalese organisations, Green Tara Nepal and POURAKHI Nepal, in this research.</p>

The government formed the probe committee after a parliamentary sub-committee prepared a report alleging misappropriation of around Rs 4 billion during the procurement process and recommended action against high-ranking officials as well as sitting minister and former ministers.</span></div>

<p>Sharing the decision taken by the cabinet on December 28 and 31, government spokesperson Gokul Banskota said on Thursday that the government has also decided to give a grant of Rs 65.28 per quintal to the sugarcane farmers. Hence, the sugar industries need to pay the sugarcane farmers Rs 471 per quintal, according to a news report published by Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS).</p>

<p>According to Spokesperson Banskota, the government has decided to upgrade five hospitals including the Koshi Zonal Hospital in Biratnagar, Narayani Sub-regional Hospital in Birgunj, Bharatpur Hospital in Chitwan, Bheri Zonal Hospital in Nepalgunj and Dadeldhura Sub-regional Hospital in Dadeldhura.</p>

<p>Spokesperson Banskota, who is also the Minister for Communications and Information Technology, shared that the government has directed Nepal Telecom to operate the 4G project within 12 months. Likewise, 5G service will also be piloted in Biratnagar, Kathmandu, Nepalgunj and Pokhara.</p>

<p>According to Agrawal, the producers have been selling sugar at Rs 55 per kg due to which the industrialists are facing great loss in the business. Because of this, the industrialists are facing difficulties to pay the due amount to the sugarcane farmers.</p>

<p>Speaking at a discussion program organised by the Industry, Commerce, Labor and Consumer Welfare Protection Committee on Wednesday, Agrawal said, &ldquo;If this condition persists, , the industrialists will not be able to pay the remaining amount. The government must take the responsibility for paying the debt.&rdquo;</p>

<p>According to him, the industrialists will be able to pay the due amount to the sugarcane farmers only the government fixes the price of sugar in a scientific way.</p>

<p>Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supply Matrika Prasad Yadav appealed to the sugar producers to continue their production. He assured that the government is ready for discussion with sugar the industrialists.</p>

<p>Blaming the industrialists for inflating the price of sugar, Minister Yadav urged the sugar producers look at the whole picture by putting themselves on the shoes of the general public.</p>

<p>&ldquo;It has been found that the price of sugar has been increased at the whims of the producers. And when we request them to stop this, the sugar industrialists threaten to shut their industries,&rdquo; he said, adding, &ldquo;The government imposed a ban on the import of sugar upon the suggestion of the sugar industrialists. The government is in the favor of the industrialists/ traders, and they also need to support the government by running the industries properly.&rdquo;</p>

<p>He clarified that the government cannot increase the price of sugar in a way that it affects the customers. He said that the ministry is working to fix the price of sugarcane and sugar within two days.</p>

Other industries facing action of the bureau are International Cement Pvt Ltd, Birgunj; Gorakhkali Cement Industries Pvt Ltd, Jhapa; Annapurna Cement Pvt Ltd, Morang; Golden Battery Pvt Ltd, Morang; Sugam Manufacturer, Kathmandu; MJP Cement Pvt Ltd, Kapilbastu; Ganapati Cement Pvt Ltd, Kapilbastu; Hongsi Cement Industry, Nawalparasi; Arghakhanchi Cement Industry, Rupandehi; and Shubha Shree Jagadamba Cement Industry, Bara.&nbsp;<br />
According to RSS, director general of the bureau, Bishwa Bandhu Pudasaini, said action was taken against these industries which manufactured products without meeting the standard and quality. The license of most of the industries facing action has been suspended and the sales and distribution of manufactured goods have been stopped.&nbsp;<br />
The bureau has written to the industries facing action to produce quality products, failing which their licenses would be annulled.&nbsp;<br />
The bureau has provided license to 250 industries for manufacturing 369 types of products of 60 different categories.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Bournemouth University said in a statement that the study looked into the working conditions of Nepalese migrant workers, especially in the Gulf countries.</p>

<p>The study concluded that raising awareness among female migrant workers can make a change in their working lives. The study found that female migrant workers face work-related health risks, which are often related to exploitation. Thus, recruiting agencies/employers should provide information on health risks and training for preventive measures, said the statement released on January 3.</p>

<p>Figures from the Department of Foreign Employment of Nepal have shown that over 176,000 Nepali women were granted labour permits to work abroad since records started in 2008, traveling mainly to the UAE, Kuwait, Malaysia, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Cyprus and Jordan. Since 2016, Nepalese authorities outlawed labour permits for domestic work in the Gulf, amidst reports of the abuse of Nepalese migrants working as maids in the region, the statement said.</p>

<p>A dissemination session, held in January, looked to highlight issues within the female migrant worker minority group, at which Bournemouth University&rsquo;s study exploring the healthcare problems of more than 1,000 migrant returnees aged 14-51 was shared. Speaking about the study, Professor Edwin van Teijlingen at Bournemouth University stressed, &ldquo;It is important that the people publish their findings either positive or negative so that others can learn from it. Publishing good quality-research in Nepal ensures a wider global audience.&rdquo;</p>

<p>Findings reflected that more than a quarter of women had experienced health problems working abroad. Fever, accidents and severe illness were commonly reported, alongside with working without breaks. It was also found that migrant women who are illiterate, had been severely maltreated or tortured in the workplace, were not being paid on time, and migrant women who had family problems at home were significantly associated with health problems in their host country in the Middle East, the statement further said.</p>

<p>Liverpool John Moores University&rsquo;s Professor Padam Simkhada said, &ldquo;This is one of several projects we are working on in the field of health and migration.&nbsp; It combines both health and human rights issues.&rdquo; He added: &ldquo;We often forget that working aboard offers female migrant workers an opportunity to learn new skills that are of use when returning home.&rdquo;</p>

<p>The study and the subsequent dissemination session also raised questioned over Nepalese government intervention.</p>

<p>Concerns were also raised over the current ban on women working domestically in the Gulf region, as many Nepalese migrants defy this to travel illegally, thus encountering additional risk, with an 8.95 per cent increase in Nepalese applications to work in other industries abroad seen just a year after the restrictions were imposed.</p>

<p>The UK universities worked alongside two Nepalese organisations, Green Tara Nepal and POURAKHI Nepal, in this research.</p>

<p>Speaking at a discussion program organised by the Industry, Commerce, Labor and Consumer Welfare Protection Committee on Wednesday, Agrawal said, &ldquo;If this condition persists, , the industrialists will not be able to pay the remaining amount. The government must take the responsibility for paying the debt.&rdquo;</p>

<p>According to him, the industrialists will be able to pay the due amount to the sugarcane farmers only the government fixes the price of sugar in a scientific way.</p>

<p>Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supply Matrika Prasad Yadav appealed to the sugar producers to continue their production. He assured that the government is ready for discussion with sugar the industrialists.</p>

<p>Blaming the industrialists for inflating the price of sugar, Minister Yadav urged the sugar producers look at the whole picture by putting themselves on the shoes of the general public.</p>

<p>&ldquo;It has been found that the price of sugar has been increased at the whims of the producers. And when we request them to stop this, the sugar industrialists threaten to shut their industries,&rdquo; he said, adding, &ldquo;The government imposed a ban on the import of sugar upon the suggestion of the sugar industrialists. The government is in the favor of the industrialists/ traders, and they also need to support the government by running the industries properly.&rdquo;</p>

<p>He clarified that the government cannot increase the price of sugar in a way that it affects the customers. He said that the ministry is working to fix the price of sugarcane and sugar within two days.</p>

<p>Qatar Airways said that it completed an on-market purchase of certain A shares and H shares of China Southern Airlines Company Limited on December 28, resulting in an aggregate holding of approximately 5 percent of the total issued share capital of China Southern Airlines.</p>

<p>Qatar Airways&rsquo; Chairman Ali Shareef Al Emadi said, &quot;Qatar Airways regards our shareholding in China Southern Airlines as an important part of our strategic investment in the largest airline in one of the world&rsquo;s fastest growing aviation markets.&rdquo;</p>

<p>&ldquo;This investment further supports Qatar Airways&#39; investment strategy which already includes its 20 percent investment in International Airlines Group, its 10 percent investment in LATAM Airlines Group, its 49 percent investment in Air Italy and its 9.99 percent investment in Cathay Pacific,&rdquo; the statement said.</p>

<p>According to the group, the main objective of GBG BizFest 2019 is to bring together entrepreneurs and startup founders from around the country in a single platform. Developers and representatives from Nepal&rsquo;s popular Android apps are expected to participate in the event.</p>

<p>Speaking about the concept of organizing the event, Amit Agrawal, manager of GBG Kathmandu, says, &ldquo;GBG BizFest is an annual event happening in different countries throughout the world. We are excited to host this event for the first time in Nepal and bring all the emerging startups under one umbrella. <p>There will be more than 100+ startups, app developers and tech communities of Nepal participating in GBG BizFest 2019 to promote their products and services. GBG Kathmandu is expecting to bring more than 3000 people in the event.</p>

Participants will be given a hands-on opportunity to listen to leading individuals in the industry, who will talk about various topics, ranging from Google&rsquo;s suite of tools of online marketing (including Google Analytics and Google Ads) to growth hacking in modern organizations.</p>

<p>To the delight of budding entrepreneurs in the country, the event will have a stall dedicated to Google My Business. According to RSS, director general of the bureau, Bishwa Bandhu Pudasaini, said action was taken against these industries which manufactured products without meeting the standard and quality. The license of most of the industries facing action has been suspended and the sales and distribution of manufactured goods have been stopped.&nbsp;<br />
The bureau has written to the industries facing action to produce quality products, failing which their licenses would be annulled.&nbsp;<br />
The bureau has provided license to 250 industries for manufacturing 369 types of products of 60 different categories.&nbsp;</p>
