They face criminalization for ‘absconding’ and risk having their passports confiscated.

The temporary minimum wage is just over $200 per month, while new labour courts intended to tackle cases of abuse including non-payment of wages are overwhelmed with cases and hundreds of workers have returned home without justice or compensation.

Domestic workers, meanwhile, are still required to obtain an “exit permit” in order to leave the country, and a weak domestic workers law introduced in 2017 means many remain vulnerable to abuse.

', 'published' => true, 'created' => '2019-02-06', 'modified' => '2019-02-06', 'keywords' => '', 'description' => '', 'sortorder' => '9748', 'image' => '20190206043200_aaaa.jpg', 'article_date' => '2019-02-06 00:00:00', 'homepage' => false, 'breaking_news' => false, 'main_news' => true, 'in_scroller' => null, 'user_id' => '20' ) ), (int) 9 => array( 'Article' => array( 'id' => '9972', 'article_category_id' => '1', 'title' => 'NT’s Pre-paid Roaming Service Accessible in China, India', 'sub_title' => '', 'summary' => 'February 6: Nepal Telecom (NT) has introduced roaming service for pre-paid mobile, which will be accessible in China and India. They face criminalization for ‘absconding’ and risk having their passports confiscated.

', 'published' => true, 'created' => '2019-02-06', 'modified' => '2019-02-06', 'keywords' => '', 'description' => '', 'sortorder' => '9748', 'image' => '20190206043200_aaaa.jpg', 'article_date' => '2019-02-06 00:00:00', 'homepage' => false, 'breaking_news' => false, 'main_news' => true, 'in_scroller' => null, 'user_id' => '20' ) ), (int) 9 => array( 'Article' => array( 'id' => '9972', 'article_category_id' => '1', 'title' => 'NT’s Pre-paid Roaming Service Accessible in China, India', 'sub_title' => '', 'summary' => 'February 6: Nepal Telecom (NT) has introduced roaming service for pre-paid mobile, which will be accessible in China and India.
