"The conference is focused on the exchange of experiences and future plan for micro hydropower development in the 12 countries of the region," said Krishna Devkota, Chairman of the Corporation. Earlier, the tenure was limited to 10 years comprising 2 terms each with 5 years.</p> <p style="text-align:justify">The bill has also set qualification and term for directors of any BFIs. According to the amended bill, the director of any BFIs should have Masters' degree in any faculty or have bachelors' degree with minimum of three years work experience as director or higher official in any BFIs or government owned bodies.</p> <p style="text-align:justify">Moreover, the bill also mentioned that any individual with at least 5 years of experience in domestic or international financial institution or in government service will also be eligible to work as a director of any BFIs. However, the bill has prohibited any individual having more than 50 per cent investment in any company dealing with a bank from becoming director of the bank.</p> <p style="text-align:justify">Similarly, the amended bill has barred the individuals serving in constitutional posts to become board of director of any BFIs. FHAN is organising the fair in cooperation with Ministry of Commerce, Nepal Trade Integration Strategy (NTIS Program) and Trade and Export Promotion Centre with a slogan ' Possibility of Handicraft Expansion' at Exhibition Hall, Bhrikuti Mandap, Kathmandu from November 25 to 29. The fair which is being organised with an objective of promoting handicraft items will have 176 stalls with 7 pavilions.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">"The fair will have more than 200 exhibitors showcasing crafts ranging from home decor to home textile, personal accessories to precious metal crafts and so on," informed FHAN.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">"The fair is being organised with an objective of development, expansion and promotion of handicraft trade and expand its internal as well as international market," said Dharma Raj Shakya, President of FHAN. "The handicraft industry makes the highest contribution to the economy after agricultural industry. The sector has also helped earning foreign currency," he added.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">According to Hom Nath Upadhya, Vice-President of FHAN, handicrafts worth Rs 10 billion are exported from Nepal annually. He voiced that more than 1.1 million people are employed in the industry directly and indirectly. "In the recent time, the sector is facing trouble due to machine and technology used in handicraft production and the hardship created by the earthquake and border blockade. The expo has been visited by nearly 60,000 visitors till date. Every stall is crowded, however, the stalls having international brands are attracting more crowd. "The visitors are more interested in advance electronic items," said Sudarshan Poudel, first Vice-President of FEEN. He added that visitors are more interested on obtaining information regarding safe, cost-efficient and low electricity consuming electronic products.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">The expo kicked off in exhibition hall of Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu from November 18 and continues till November 22. As per the organiser, the expo is being organized with a view to provide adequate information about electric and electronic products to producers, consumers, sellers, experts and consultants. The organiser informed that expo will help to enhance the market of electronic products and relationship between entrepreneurs, producers and stakeholders. Issuing a press statement, FEEN informed that the expo showcases various products of national and international brands and the visitors can get adequate information related alternative sources of energy as well. This kind of expo can help to invite latest technology and foreign investment in the country, the federation informs.
