<p style="text-align: justify;">According to Dilli Adhikari, DPY Manager of NTC, the company has started the newly launched services in sim cards connected to the scheme from July 15. The company informs that the customers need to submit clear identifying documents of hearing impaired people in its counter to get sim card priced Rs 90 with Rs 50 talktime.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Similarly, the company will provide free GSM prepaid sim or CDMA sim to the casualties of People&#39;s Movement 2006 for once on&nbsp; July 18. The casualties of People&#39;s Movement need to submit one photo with identity card issued by the government and one photocopy of citizenship certificate to get the sim card.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Likewise, the differently able people need to submit one photograph with identity card (red card) issued by Ministry of Women, Children and Social Welfare and Social Welfare Council and photocopy of citizenship certificate to get the sim card. The customers can get the service from any branch of the company. The company informs that the service will be validated upto January 2017.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Developer of the app believes that the app will ease the trekking routes for foreign tourists. According to the company, the app will provide security information along with detail information and attractions of the trekking routes to the tourists.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The app contains features like &#39;deviation Alert&#39; and &#39;avalanche Alert&#39;. These features will prevent tourists from getting lost and enter in avalanche prone areas. Abhisekh Pandey, Co-founder of the company claims that none of the tourists will be lost after using the app.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The app also contains feature like &#39;placecard&#39;. As per Pandey, placecard contains detailed information of birds, plants and animals habitat on the trekking route. He added &quot;The place card feature on the app will also inform the tourists about the local communities, their values, norms, and cultures.&quot;</p>

This delivers on the pledge made by EU Commissioner Neven Mimica in June 2015 during his visit to the country for the International Conference on Nepal&#39;s Reconstruction to substantially support the start-up phase of the recovery.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify">Issuing a press statement, EU said that the Post Disaster Recovery Framework (PDRF) of May 2016 guides the EU and the government&rsquo;s shared aspiration to help the earthquake-affected communities build their houses back better and safer. &#39;&#39;All stakeholders now need to rigorously focus determination, skills and energy on implementing the PDRF to rebuild houses, schools and other infrastructure. 			'content' => '<p>July 17: Confederation of Nepalese Industry (CNI) doubts on achieving monetary policy target announced by Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB). According to CNI, although NRB has addressed many suggestions recommended by CNI, other many important issues have been left unattended resulting difficulty in achieving economic growth and price stability as targeted by monetary policy. Earlier, after the announcement of monetary policy, CNI had declared that NRB has addressed many suggestions recommended by it.</p>

<p>CNI opined that the monetary policy contains some strong issues including increase in ceiling for conversion of mandatory consortium loan to Rs 1 billion from Rs 500 million. Similarly, increase in the frontier amount for importing goods from the third country through draft and TT to Rs 50,000 USD from Rs 40,000 USD has been also considered positive by CNI. Likewise, establishment of Infrastructure Development Bank, increase in ceiling for mandatory loan extension of commercial banks towards agriculture and energy sector and execution of BASEL-3 for upgrading banking system are some strong areas of monetary policy. Additionally, CNI has expressed its contentment on attention given to financial stability through expansion of financial services and foreign exchange management. CNI also believe that the banking system will further strengthen through interest rate corridor, quarterly evaluation and review of monetary policy and utilisation of 3 percent of total employee expenditure on training, skill and career development.</p>

<p>According to CNI, despite the policy has brought some new mechanisms, it has failed to address key issues required to develop industrial sector and promote investment. It said that the monetary policy has not taken significant step on diverting excess liquidity towards productive sector, accelerate industrial pace and increase investment along with creating employment opportunities. &ldquo;The NRB move of controlling broad money supply without timely modification of mandatory cash reserve ratio, statutory liquidity ratio and bank rate and reloan rate has created imbalance between monetary policy tools, internal target and final target,&rdquo; said CNI.</p>

<p>The policy also failed in addressing utilisation of excess foreign exchange reserve on infrastructure development and industrialisation. Similarly, CNI explained that the monetary policy has not brought clear provision on promotion of export, increase in purchasing power of domestic currency and expansion of competitive capacity building of export.</p>

<p>CNI claims that the provision of mandatory investment of 2 percent out of 5 percent total loan extension to deprived group will increase workload, administrative chaos and increase in operating cost of commercial banks. CNI suggested on rearrangement of some key issues having direct affect on the economy during the quarterly review of the monetary policy.</p>

<p>The monetary policy has targeted 6.5 percent economic growth and limit inflation on 7.5 percent. For this, growth in broad money supply should be limited to 17 percent through effective monetary and liquidity management.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">&ldquo;With an objective to minimise the electricity shortage in the country, we are increasing investments in the sector. &nbsp;We have been investing with a target to produce 100 MW within the next five years,&rdquo; says Roshan KC, Director of the Group. &nbsp;KC, who is also an engineer adds, &ldquo;We will succeed to reach our target.&rdquo;</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">According to the Group&rsquo;s Chairman Surya Bahadur KC, 90 percent of the construction of the Sikles Hydro project has been completed. &ldquo;We will start the commercial production by 2074 Poush.&rdquo; The project which has been under construction for the last three years was affected by earthquake, blockade and landslide. <p style="text-align: justify;">Meanwhile, the Group has also finalised the power purchase agreement (PPA) of the Upper Madi Hydropower Project. As per KC, Prime bank will finance the project having capacity of 7MW. &ldquo;The construction work of the Rs 1.20 billion project will start from Ashwin, 2074.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Similarly, the Group also plans to start the construction of Bijaypur-2 Hydroelectricity Project soon. &ldquo;The construction works of the 4.5 MW project with investment totaling Rs 900 million will start by next Ashwin,&rdquo; says KC.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Other hydropower projects like Gandaki, Traaks and Bijaypur Hydropower are also being constructed under the leadership of Chairman KC, who is also the Executive Chairman of Himshree Foods. &ldquo;I have been investing for the development of hydropower sector in Nepal. &ldquo;Though there are investors interested in investing in the sector, we don&rsquo;t have a supportive environment for it,&rdquo; he says. &ldquo;We face lot of obstacles while trying to invest. In the beginning of the last FY, the revenue collection during the year was expected to fall short due to the devastating earthquake followed by the blockade resulting degraded investment environment and demobilised capital flow.&nbsp; According to the statistics of Financial Comptroller Office, till the second quarter of the last FY revenue collection fell short by Rs 50 billion than the target. However, by the end of the year, Rs 481 billion revenue has been collected exceeding the target by Rs 6 billion. The Ministry of Finance has targeted Rs 475 billion revenue collection in the beginning of the last FY.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify">The Finance Ministry had initiated various ideas and strategies from February of the last FY in a bid to collect targeted revenue and to cope with decreasing export and import along with domestic revenue due to the blockade. &ldquo;In an extreme condition too, Nepal has been enabled to achieve the revenue target through collection of old tax outstanding, account suspension of tax defaulters and reimbursement of development projects. Condition of bank and financial institutions and stock market is also fine,&rdquo; said Rajan Khanal, Revenue Secretary.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify">In order to achieve the revenue target, the government directed Nepal Telecommunication Authority to deposit Rs 10 billion, a dormant fund in its Trust in the revenue. &nbsp;Similarly, the matured loan amount paid by Nepal Oil Corporation worth Rs 12 billion has also contributed to meet the revenue target. Additionally, the government has auctioned age-old merchandise goods to achieve the revenue target.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify">The government also executed new regulations giving tax payer additional period to pay taxes till mid-July without penalties from earlier mid-March deadline. The government also implemented &lsquo;back-up plan&rsquo; since mid-March to recover revenue shortage.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify">The back-up plan included identification of new sector for revenue collection, collection of tax outstanding, increase in production through optimum use of resources and budget expenditure. Apart of it, reprioritisation of programs and extension of tax payment period were also comprises the plan. The government has targeted of collecting Rs 565 billion revenue in the current FY 2073/74.</p>

According to CNI, although NRB has addressed many suggestions recommended by CNI, other many important issues have been left unattended resulting difficulty in achieving economic growth and price stability as targeted by monetary policy. Earlier, after the announcement of monetary policy, CNI had declared that NRB has addressed many suggestions recommended by it.</p>

<p>CNI opined that the monetary policy contains some strong issues including increase in ceiling for conversion of mandatory consortium loan to Rs 1 billion from Rs 500 million. Similarly, increase in the frontier amount for importing goods from the third country through draft and TT to Rs 50,000 USD from Rs 40,000 USD has been also considered positive by CNI. Likewise, establishment of Infrastructure Development Bank, increase in ceiling for mandatory loan extension of commercial banks towards agriculture and energy sector and execution of BASEL-3 for upgrading banking system are some strong areas of monetary policy. Additionally, CNI has expressed its contentment on attention given to financial stability through expansion of financial services and foreign exchange management. CNI also believe that the banking system will further strengthen through interest rate corridor, quarterly evaluation and review of monetary policy and utilisation of 3 percent of total employee expenditure on training, skill and career development.</p>

<p>According to CNI, despite the policy has brought some new mechanisms, it has failed to address key issues required to develop industrial sector and promote investment. It said that the monetary policy has not taken significant step on diverting excess liquidity towards productive sector, accelerate industrial pace and increase investment along with creating employment opportunities. &ldquo;The NRB move of controlling broad money supply without timely modification of mandatory cash reserve ratio, statutory liquidity ratio and bank rate and reloan rate has created imbalance between monetary policy tools, internal target and final target,&rdquo; said CNI.</p>

<p>The policy also failed in addressing utilisation of excess foreign exchange reserve on infrastructure development and industrialisation. Similarly, CNI explained that the monetary policy has not brought clear provision on promotion of export, increase in purchasing power of domestic currency and expansion of competitive capacity building of export.</p>

<p>CNI claims that the provision of mandatory investment of 2 percent out of 5 percent total loan extension to deprived group will increase workload, administrative chaos and increase in operating cost of commercial banks. CNI suggested on rearrangement of some key issues having direct affect on the economy during the quarterly review of the monetary policy.</p>

<p>The monetary policy has targeted 6.5 percent economic growth and limit inflation on 7.5 percent. For this, growth in broad money supply should be limited to 17 percent through effective monetary and liquidity management.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">&ldquo;With an objective to minimise the electricity shortage in the country, we are increasing investments in the sector. &nbsp;We have been investing with a target to produce 100 MW within the next five years,&rdquo; says Roshan KC, Director of the Group. &nbsp;KC, who is also an engineer adds, &ldquo;We will succeed to reach our target.&rdquo;</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">According to the Group&rsquo;s Chairman Surya Bahadur KC, 90 percent of the construction of the Sikles Hydro project has been completed. &ldquo;We will start the commercial production by 2074 Poush.&rdquo; The project which has been under construction for the last three years was affected by earthquake, blockade and landslide. The Group has invested over Rs 2 billion in the project.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Meanwhile, the Group has also finalised the power purchase agreement (PPA) of the Upper Madi Hydropower Project. As per KC, Prime bank will finance the project having capacity of 7MW. &ldquo;The construction work of the Rs 1.20 billion project will start from Ashwin, 2074.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Similarly, the Group also plans to start the construction of Bijaypur-2 Hydroelectricity Project soon. &ldquo;The construction works of the 4.5 MW project with investment totaling Rs 900 million will start by next Ashwin,&rdquo; says KC.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Meanwhile,the 36MW Jhyamulunga Hydropower Project is in the pipeline. &ldquo;The construction of the project with the estimated investment of Rs 5 billion will start soon,&rdquo; mentions KC.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Likewie, the Group is preparing to start the construction of 20MW Upper Seti Hydropower Project. The investment for the project is estimated at Rs 3 billion.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Other hydropower projects like Gandaki, Traaks and Bijaypur Hydropower are also being constructed under the leadership of Chairman KC, who is also the Executive Chairman of Himshree Foods. &ldquo;I have been investing for the development of hydropower sector in Nepal. &ldquo;Though there are investors interested in investing in the sector, we don&rsquo;t have a supportive environment for it,&rdquo; he says. &ldquo;We face lot of obstacles while trying to invest. Even after we produce the electricity, the producers face difficulties to connect it with national grid.&rdquo; &nbsp;He mentions that the problems are due to the lack of coordination between Energy and Finance Ministry and CIAA.&nbsp;</p>

As per the association, Sagarmatha Gas will exchange the cylinders of Rapti, Bheri, New Bheri, Manakamana, Adesh and Radiant brands from Pepsicola. Nepal Gas will exchange cylinders of Narayani brand from Balaju. It is also informed that, the consumers can exchange cylinders of Arati, Swastik and Butwal brands from Lumbini Gas from Bafal. Issuing a press statement, the Association informed of initaing the facility as the dealers are charging huge sum from consumers while exchanging the brand of gas cylinders. The association informs that the consumers can exchange gas cylinders of mentioned brands for free from July 17 to July 22.&nbsp;</p>

In the beginning of the last FY, the revenue collection during the year was expected to fall short due to the devastating earthquake followed by the blockade resulting degraded investment environment and demobilised capital flow.&nbsp; According to the statistics of Financial Comptroller Office, till the second quarter of the last FY revenue collection fell short by Rs 50 billion than the target. However, by the end of the year, Rs 481 billion revenue has been collected exceeding the target by Rs 6 billion. The Ministry of Finance has targeted Rs 475 billion revenue collection in the beginning of the last FY.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify">The Finance Ministry had initiated various ideas and strategies from February of the last FY in a bid to collect targeted revenue and to cope with decreasing export and import along with domestic revenue due to the blockade. &ldquo;In an extreme condition too, Nepal has been enabled to achieve the revenue target through collection of old tax outstanding, account suspension of tax defaulters and reimbursement of development projects. Condition of bank and financial institutions and stock market is also fine,&rdquo; said Rajan Khanal, Revenue Secretary.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify">In order to achieve the revenue target, the government directed Nepal Telecommunication Authority to deposit Rs 10 billion, a dormant fund in its Trust in the revenue. &nbsp;Similarly, the matured loan amount paid by Nepal Oil Corporation worth Rs 12 billion has also contributed to meet the revenue target. Additionally, the government has auctioned age-old merchandise goods to achieve the revenue target.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify">The government also executed new regulations giving tax payer additional period to pay taxes till mid-July without penalties from earlier mid-March deadline. The government also implemented &lsquo;back-up plan&rsquo; since mid-March to recover revenue shortage.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify">The back-up plan included identification of new sector for revenue collection, collection of tax outstanding, increase in production through optimum use of resources and budget expenditure. Apart of it, reprioritisation of programs and extension of tax payment period were also comprises the plan. The government has targeted of collecting Rs 565 billion revenue in the current FY 2073/74.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Similarly, the company will provide free GSM prepaid sim or CDMA sim to the casualties of People&#39;s Movement 2006 for once on&nbsp; July 18. The casualties of People&#39;s Movement need to submit one photo with identity card issued by the government and one photocopy of citizenship certificate to get the sim card.</p>

According to CNI, although NRB has addressed many suggestions recommended by CNI, other many important issues have been left unattended resulting difficulty in achieving economic growth and price stability as targeted by monetary policy. Earlier, after the announcement of monetary policy, CNI had declared that NRB has addressed many suggestions recommended by it.</p>

<p>CNI opined that the monetary policy contains some strong issues including increase in ceiling for conversion of mandatory consortium loan to Rs 1 billion from Rs 500 million. Similarly, increase in the frontier amount for importing goods from the third country through draft and TT to Rs 50,000 USD from Rs 40,000 USD has been also considered positive by CNI. Likewise, establishment of Infrastructure Development Bank, increase in ceiling for mandatory loan extension of commercial banks towards agriculture and energy sector and execution of BASEL-3 for upgrading banking system are some strong areas of monetary policy. Additionally, CNI has expressed its contentment on attention given to financial stability through expansion of financial services and foreign exchange management. CNI also believe that the banking system will further strengthen through interest rate corridor, quarterly evaluation and review of monetary policy and utilisation of 3 percent of total employee expenditure on training, skill and career development.</p>

<p>According to CNI, despite the policy has brought some new mechanisms, it has failed to address key issues required to develop industrial sector and promote investment. It said that the monetary policy has not taken significant step on diverting excess liquidity towards productive sector, accelerate industrial pace and increase investment along with creating employment opportunities. &ldquo;The NRB move of controlling broad money supply without timely modification of mandatory cash reserve ratio, statutory liquidity ratio and bank rate and reloan rate has created imbalance between monetary policy tools, internal target and final target,&rdquo; said CNI.</p>

<p>The policy also failed in addressing utilisation of excess foreign exchange reserve on infrastructure development and industrialisation. Similarly, CNI explained that the monetary policy has not brought clear provision on promotion of export, increase in purchasing power of domestic currency and expansion of competitive capacity building of export.</p>

<p>CNI claims that the provision of mandatory investment of 2 percent out of 5 percent total loan extension to deprived group will increase workload, administrative chaos and increase in operating cost of commercial banks. CNI suggested on rearrangement of some key issues having direct affect on the economy during the quarterly review of the monetary policy.</p>

<p>The monetary policy has targeted 6.5 percent economic growth and limit inflation on 7.5 percent. For this, growth in broad money supply should be limited to 17 percent through effective monetary and liquidity management.</p>

Aiming to produce 100MW electricity within the five years, the company is constructing various projects. <p style="text-align: justify;">&ldquo;With an objective to minimise the electricity shortage in the country, we are increasing investments in the sector. &nbsp;We have been investing with a target to produce 100 MW within the next five years,&rdquo; says Roshan KC, Director of the Group. &nbsp;KC, who is also an engineer adds, &ldquo;We will succeed to reach our target.&rdquo;</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">According to the Group&rsquo;s Chairman Surya Bahadur KC, 90 percent of the construction of the Sikles Hydro project has been completed. &ldquo;We will start the commercial production by 2074 Poush.&rdquo; The project which has been under construction for the last three years was affected by earthquake, blockade and landslide. The Group has invested over Rs 2 billion in the project.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Meanwhile, the Group has also finalised the power purchase agreement (PPA) of the Upper Madi Hydropower Project. As per KC, Prime bank will finance the project having capacity of 7MW. &ldquo;The construction work of the Rs 1.20 billion project will start from Ashwin, 2074.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Similarly, the Group also plans to start the construction of Bijaypur-2 Hydroelectricity Project soon. &ldquo;The construction works of the 4.5 MW project with investment totaling Rs 900 million will start by next Ashwin,&rdquo; says KC.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Meanwhile,the 36MW Jhyamulunga Hydropower Project is in the pipeline. &ldquo;The construction of the project with the estimated investment of Rs 5 billion will start soon,&rdquo; mentions KC.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Likewie, the Group is preparing to start the construction of 20MW Upper Seti Hydropower Project. The investment for the project is estimated at Rs 3 billion.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Other hydropower projects like Gandaki, Traaks and Bijaypur Hydropower are also being constructed under the leadership of Chairman KC, who is also the Executive Chairman of Himshree Foods. &ldquo;I have been investing for the development of hydropower sector in Nepal. &ldquo;Though there are investors interested in investing in the sector, we don&rsquo;t have a supportive environment for it,&rdquo; he says. &ldquo;We face lot of obstacles while trying to invest. Even after we produce the electricity, the producers face difficulties to connect it with national grid.&rdquo; &nbsp;He mentions that the problems are due to the lack of coordination between Energy and Finance Ministry and CIAA.&nbsp;</p>

According to the association, seven various industries can exchange the gas cylinders. Everest and Sugam Gas at Balkhu will exchange the cylinders of Shakti, Sahara, Mechi, Trishakti, Kankai, Rijal ko Bhanchha, Kamakhya and Prima brands from July 17. &nbsp;Likewise, Shree Ram Gas will exchange the cylinders of Koshi, Noble and Janaki brands from Harisiddhi of Lalitpur. Similarly, Manoj Gas will exchange the cylinders of Jagadamba, Super, Leo and Ambar brands from Kalanki.</p>

As per the association, Sagarmatha Gas will exchange the cylinders of Rapti, Bheri, New Bheri, Manakamana, Adesh and Radiant brands from Pepsicola. Nepal Gas will exchange cylinders of Narayani brand from Balaju. It is also informed that, the consumers can exchange cylinders of Arati, Swastik and Butwal brands from Lumbini Gas from Bafal. Issuing a press statement, the Association informed of initaing the facility as the dealers are charging huge sum from consumers while exchanging the brand of gas cylinders. The association informs that the consumers can exchange gas cylinders of mentioned brands for free from July 17 to July 22.&nbsp;</p>

In the beginning of the last FY, the revenue collection during the year was expected to fall short due to the devastating earthquake followed by the blockade resulting degraded investment environment and demobilised capital flow.&nbsp; According to the statistics of Financial Comptroller Office, till the second quarter of the last FY revenue collection fell short by Rs 50 billion than the target. However, by the end of the year, Rs 481 billion revenue has been collected exceeding the target by Rs 6 billion. The Ministry of Finance has targeted Rs 475 billion revenue collection in the beginning of the last FY.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify">The Finance Ministry had initiated various ideas and strategies from February of the last FY in a bid to collect targeted revenue and to cope with decreasing export and import along with domestic revenue due to the blockade. &ldquo;In an extreme condition too, Nepal has been enabled to achieve the revenue target through collection of old tax outstanding, account suspension of tax defaulters and reimbursement of development projects. Condition of bank and financial institutions and stock market is also fine,&rdquo; said Rajan Khanal, Revenue Secretary.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify">In order to achieve the revenue target, the government directed Nepal Telecommunication Authority to deposit Rs 10 billion, a dormant fund in its Trust in the revenue. &nbsp;Similarly, the matured loan amount paid by Nepal Oil Corporation worth Rs 12 billion has also contributed to meet the revenue target. Additionally, the government has auctioned age-old merchandise goods to achieve the revenue target.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify">The government also executed new regulations giving tax payer additional period to pay taxes till mid-July without penalties from earlier mid-March deadline. The government also implemented &lsquo;back-up plan&rsquo; since mid-March to recover revenue shortage.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify">The back-up plan included identification of new sector for revenue collection, collection of tax outstanding, increase in production through optimum use of resources and budget expenditure. Apart of it, reprioritisation of programs and extension of tax payment period were also comprises the plan. The government has targeted of collecting Rs 565 billion revenue in the current FY 2073/74.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify">Issuing a press statement, EU said that the Post Disaster Recovery Framework (PDRF) of May 2016 guides the EU and the government&rsquo;s shared aspiration to help the earthquake-affected communities build their houses back better and safer. &#39;&#39;All stakeholders now need to rigorously focus determination, skills and energy on implementing the PDRF to rebuild houses, schools and other infrastructure. This is the moment to create more resilient, inclusive and prosperous communities in an accountable, transparent and sensitive way, and to inject more dynamism into Nepal&#39;s economy,&quot; said EU Ambassador Rensje Teerink on the occasion.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify">NEARR emphasises fostering of resilience and disaster preparedness, focuses on the most vulnerable people, as well as enhancing transparency and accountability in the reconstruction process and implementation capacity of the Government. In order to measure progress the EU and the Government of Nepal agreed on a set of indicators to be achieved for the disbursement of the second tranche of Rs 6 billion (EURO 50 million).&nbsp;</p>

According to CNI, although NRB has addressed many suggestions recommended by CNI, other many important issues have been left unattended resulting difficulty in achieving economic growth and price stability as targeted by monetary policy. Earlier, after the announcement of monetary policy, CNI had declared that NRB has addressed many suggestions recommended by it.</p>

<p>CNI opined that the monetary policy contains some strong issues including increase in ceiling for conversion of mandatory consortium loan to Rs 1 billion from Rs 500 million. Similarly, increase in the frontier amount for importing goods from the third country through draft and TT to Rs 50,000 USD from Rs 40,000 USD has been also considered positive by CNI. Likewise, establishment of Infrastructure Development Bank, increase in ceiling for mandatory loan extension of commercial banks towards agriculture and energy sector and execution of BASEL-3 for upgrading banking system are some strong areas of monetary policy. Additionally, CNI has expressed its contentment on attention given to financial stability through expansion of financial services and foreign exchange management. CNI also believe that the banking system will further strengthen through interest rate corridor, quarterly evaluation and review of monetary policy and utilisation of 3 percent of total employee expenditure on training, skill and career development.</p>

<p>According to CNI, despite the policy has brought some new mechanisms, it has failed to address key issues required to develop industrial sector and promote investment. It said that the monetary policy has not taken significant step on diverting excess liquidity towards productive sector, accelerate industrial pace and increase investment along with creating employment opportunities. &ldquo;The NRB move of controlling broad money supply without timely modification of mandatory cash reserve ratio, statutory liquidity ratio and bank rate and reloan rate has created imbalance between monetary policy tools, internal target and final target,&rdquo; said CNI.</p>

<p>The policy also failed in addressing utilisation of excess foreign exchange reserve on infrastructure development and industrialisation. Similarly, CNI explained that the monetary policy has not brought clear provision on promotion of export, increase in purchasing power of domestic currency and expansion of competitive capacity building of export.</p>

<p>CNI claims that the provision of mandatory investment of 2 percent out of 5 percent total loan extension to deprived group will increase workload, administrative chaos and increase in operating cost of commercial banks. CNI suggested on rearrangement of some key issues having direct affect on the economy during the quarterly review of the monetary policy.</p>

<p>The monetary policy has targeted 6.5 percent economic growth and limit inflation on 7.5 percent. For this, growth in broad money supply should be limited to 17 percent through effective monetary and liquidity management.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">&ldquo;With an objective to minimise the electricity shortage in the country, we are increasing investments in the sector. &nbsp;We have been investing with a target to produce 100 MW within the next five years,&rdquo; says Roshan KC, Director of the Group. &nbsp;KC, who is also an engineer adds, &ldquo;We will succeed to reach our target.&rdquo;</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">According to the Group&rsquo;s Chairman Surya Bahadur KC, 90 percent of the construction of the Sikles Hydro project has been completed. &ldquo;We will start the commercial production by 2074 Poush.&rdquo; The project which has been under construction for the last three years was affected by earthquake, blockade and landslide. The Group has invested over Rs 2 billion in the project.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Meanwhile, the Group has also finalised the power purchase agreement (PPA) of the Upper Madi Hydropower Project. As per KC, Prime bank will finance the project having capacity of 7MW. &ldquo;The construction work of the Rs 1.20 billion project will start from Ashwin, 2074.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Similarly, the Group also plans to start the construction of Bijaypur-2 Hydroelectricity Project soon. &ldquo;The construction works of the 4.5 MW project with investment totaling Rs 900 million will start by next Ashwin,&rdquo; says KC.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Meanwhile,the 36MW Jhyamulunga Hydropower Project is in the pipeline. &ldquo;The construction of the project with the estimated investment of Rs 5 billion will start soon,&rdquo; mentions KC.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Likewie, the Group is preparing to start the construction of 20MW Upper Seti Hydropower Project. The investment for the project is estimated at Rs 3 billion.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Other hydropower projects like Gandaki, Traaks and Bijaypur Hydropower are also being constructed under the leadership of Chairman KC, who is also the Executive Chairman of Himshree Foods. &ldquo;I have been investing for the development of hydropower sector in Nepal. &ldquo;Though there are investors interested in investing in the sector, we don&rsquo;t have a supportive environment for it,&rdquo; he says. &ldquo;We face lot of obstacles while trying to invest. Even after we produce the electricity, the producers face difficulties to connect it with national grid.&rdquo; &nbsp;He mentions that the problems are due to the lack of coordination between Energy and Finance Ministry and CIAA.&nbsp;</p>

According to the association, seven various industries can exchange the gas cylinders. Everest and Sugam Gas at Balkhu will exchange the cylinders of Shakti, Sahara, Mechi, Trishakti, Kankai, Rijal ko Bhanchha, Kamakhya and Prima brands from July 17. &nbsp;Likewise, Shree Ram Gas will exchange the cylinders of Koshi, Noble and Janaki brands from Harisiddhi of Lalitpur. Similarly, Manoj Gas will exchange the cylinders of Jagadamba, Super, Leo and Ambar brands from Kalanki.</p>

As per the association, Sagarmatha Gas will exchange the cylinders of Rapti, Bheri, New Bheri, Manakamana, Adesh and Radiant brands from Pepsicola. Nepal Gas will exchange cylinders of Narayani brand from Balaju. It is also informed that, the consumers can exchange cylinders of Arati, Swastik and Butwal brands from Lumbini Gas from Bafal. Issuing a press statement, the Association informed of initaing the facility as the dealers are charging huge sum from consumers while exchanging the brand of gas cylinders. The association informs that the consumers can exchange gas cylinders of mentioned brands for free from July 17 to July 22.&nbsp;</p>

In the beginning of the last FY, the revenue collection during the year was expected to fall short due to the devastating earthquake followed by the blockade resulting degraded investment environment and demobilised capital flow.&nbsp; According to the statistics of Financial Comptroller Office, till the second quarter of the last FY revenue collection fell short by Rs 50 billion than the target. However, by the end of the year, Rs 481 billion revenue has been collected exceeding the target by Rs 6 billion. The Ministry of Finance has targeted Rs 475 billion revenue collection in the beginning of the last FY.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify">The Finance Ministry had initiated various ideas and strategies from February of the last FY in a bid to collect targeted revenue and to cope with decreasing export and import along with domestic revenue due to the blockade. &ldquo;In an extreme condition too, Nepal has been enabled to achieve the revenue target through collection of old tax outstanding, account suspension of tax defaulters and reimbursement of development projects. Condition of bank and financial institutions and stock market is also fine,&rdquo; said Rajan Khanal, Revenue Secretary.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify">In order to achieve the revenue target, the government directed Nepal Telecommunication Authority to deposit Rs 10 billion, a dormant fund in its Trust in the revenue. &nbsp;Similarly, the matured loan amount paid by Nepal Oil Corporation worth Rs 12 billion has also contributed to meet the revenue target. Additionally, the government has auctioned age-old merchandise goods to achieve the revenue target.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify">The government also executed new regulations giving tax payer additional period to pay taxes till mid-July without penalties from earlier mid-March deadline. The government also implemented &lsquo;back-up plan&rsquo; since mid-March to recover revenue shortage.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify">The back-up plan included identification of new sector for revenue collection, collection of tax outstanding, increase in production through optimum use of resources and budget expenditure. Apart of it, reprioritisation of programs and extension of tax payment period were also comprises the plan. The government has targeted of collecting Rs 565 billion revenue in the current FY 2073/74.</p>
