Representatives of Maiti Nepal will also provide technical training to the scholars at the foundation to make them capable of getting employment at Unilever, Polman said.</p>

<p>Unilever has established itself as the biggest producer of local products in the country. With its one production unit and four packaging units, Unilever has been providing direct employment to 243 people and indirect employment to more than 20,000 people. &nbsp;</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The state-run oil monopoly had presented the idea of smart petrol pumps to give good facilities and had also initiated the process to this end. But even thought the NOC extended the deadline for giving license to operate smart petrol pumps twice, only 98 operators have applied for upgrading their facilities. Among them, 76 are from private sector while the others include National Trading Corporation, Salt Trading Corporation, Sajha Service and Nepal Army. According to NOC, the number of applicants is much less than its expectation.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">NOC had proposed the concept of smart petrol pumps toward the end of last year and had called for applications not later than January 2. But only 73 applications were filed in the beginning. NOC extended the deadline till mid-July for the second time. By then, 22 additional firms were interested in setting up smart petrol pumps.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Among them, National Trading Corporation has requested to run the maximum number of smart petrol pumps. It has filed application for seven smart petrol pumps. Likewise, Salt Trading, Sajha Service and Nepal Army have filed applications to run four smart petrol pumps each.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Surprisingly, only three operators have filed application to run smart petrol pump within the Kathmandu valley.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">NOC Spokesperson Birendra Goit informed that 11 operators have been given permission to run smart petrol pumps.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">According to NOC, it has set Rs 50,000 as application fee for obtaining the license to run smart petrol pumps. Nepal Petroleum Dealers&rsquo; Association President Lilendra Pradhan said that the operators are dissatisfied with the criteria set by the NOC. Pradhan said that the low number of application is the result of the criteria set by NOC, which is hard to fulfil.</p>

The ministry&rsquo;s failure in effective monitoring has encouraged contractors to take up the projects and then leave them in the middle. Due to such practice, the projects as old as 14 years remained incomplete till date.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">&nbsp;According to the ministry, more than 90 percent of the stalled projects are related to the health sector. Since 2004/5, the Ministry of Urban Development started looking after health projects which used to be under the Ministry of Health. , informed joint-secretary Dr Ramesh Prasad Singh.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">More than Rs 30 billion has been spent in the projects so far. But the contractors have not handed over the projects despite crossing the deadline of the project by five years.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The health sector in currently under trouble due to lack of adequate infrastructure as well as the lack of pace in constructing new infrastructures.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Although it has been a long time since the health projects started in various districts, their progress has been very pathetic.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">According to Dr Singh, the ministry has been allocating more than Rs 3 billion annually for the construction of buildings for public health institutions. The Ministry of Health has been providing the amount to the Ministry of Urban Development and the Department of Buildings for implementation of the projects. Although the projects are carried out in all 75 districts, lack of progress has been observed more in districts like Parsa, Dhanusha, Bara, Rautahat, Surkhet and Doti among others.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">In Parsa, a total of 25 projects have remained stalled while the number of projects lacking progress in Dhanusha is 11, Surkhet 18 and Doti 14.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">According to the ministry, around 2,000 projects have been completed while 1,200 are in progress. Among the 181 problematic projects, the ministry had aimed at completing 64 of them in fiscal year 2016/17 but was able to complete only 48 of them.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to the IBN, the contract provides high confidence to the company by providing protection to its investment. It also ensures the success of the project by stating the timelines for its construction.</p>

<p>As per the agreement, the company will make an investment of USD 359.18 million (approximately NRs 36.75 billion) to set up the cement factory in Nawalparasi district. The company has its mine in Palpa district. The project, a joint partnership between Hong Kong Red Lion Cement No 3 Ltd, a subsidiary unit of Hongshi Group from China and Shivam Holdings, consisting representatives from various business groups in Nepal, has planned to produce 6000 tons of cement per day. The company will start production by 2018.</p>

<p>Issuing a press statement, OIBN said that the project will provide high quality cement to the local market&rsquo;s demand and also create competition for quality of cement production in Nepal. The company has employed more than 1000 people during its construction period.</p>

<p>Speaking on the signing ceremony, Finance Minister Karki said the realization of the investment has sent a positive message in terms of overall business climate in Nepal. He also expressed commitment for providing necessary support on behalf of the government.</p>

<p>&quot;I would like to ensure that the government will provide all the necessary support and facilitation required to execute the project,&quot; he said. &nbsp;He also said that the government will provide necessary infrastructure facilities to the company as committed in the budget. Minister Karki also appreciated the efforts by Office of the Investment Board and necessary cooperation from all line ministries and agencies in the process of finalizing the pact.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>CEO of the Investment Board Adhikari said the agreement proved that Nepal has truly become an attractive investment destination for foreign investors.</p>

<p>&quot;With this agreement today, we open endless doors of investment opportunity for foreign companies to confidently invest in Nepal and become a partner in its journey towards economic prosperity,&quot; Adhikari added. He also thanked all stakeholders for the support and cooperation to facilitate the implementation of the project.</p>

<p>He also expressed gratitude to development partners such as JICA, World Bank, USAID and especially DFID for extending support to the Investment Board to deliver the highest quality service and professionalism that significantly contribute to the delivery of large-scale infrastructure projects in Nepal&nbsp;</p>

<p>On the occasion, Lai Weipeng, Director/General Manager of Hongshi-Shivam Cement Private Limited thanked the Investment Board for its support to bring the project to this stage.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The state-run oil monopoly had presented the idea of smart petrol pumps to give good facilities and had also initiated the process to this end. But even thought the NOC extended the deadline for giving license to operate smart petrol pumps twice, only 98 operators have applied for upgrading their facilities. Among them, 76 are from private sector while the others include National Trading Corporation, Salt Trading Corporation, Sajha Service and Nepal Army. According to NOC, the number of applicants is much less than its expectation.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">NOC had proposed the concept of smart petrol pumps toward the end of last year and had called for applications not later than January 2. But only 73 applications were filed in the beginning. NOC extended the deadline till mid-July for the second time. By then, 22 additional firms were interested in setting up smart petrol pumps.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Among them, National Trading Corporation has requested to run the maximum number of smart petrol pumps. It has filed application for seven smart petrol pumps. Likewise, Salt Trading, Sajha Service and Nepal Army have filed applications to run four smart petrol pumps each.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Surprisingly, only three operators have filed application to run smart petrol pump within the Kathmandu valley.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">NOC Spokesperson Birendra Goit informed that 11 operators have been given permission to run smart petrol pumps.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">According to NOC, it has set Rs 50,000 as application fee for obtaining the license to run smart petrol pumps. Nepal Petroleum Dealers&rsquo; Association President Lilendra Pradhan said that the operators are dissatisfied with the criteria set by the NOC. Pradhan said that the low number of application is the result of the criteria set by NOC, which is hard to fulfil.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">More than Rs 30 billion has been spent in the projects so far. But the contractors have not handed over the projects despite crossing the deadline of the project by five years.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The health sector in currently under trouble due to lack of adequate infrastructure as well as the lack of pace in constructing new infrastructures.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Although it has been a long time since the health projects started in various districts, their progress has been very pathetic.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">According to Dr Singh, the ministry has been allocating more than Rs 3 billion annually for the construction of buildings for public health institutions. The Ministry of Health has been providing the amount to the Ministry of Urban Development and the Department of Buildings for implementation of the projects. Although the projects are carried out in all 75 districts, lack of progress has been observed more in districts like Parsa, Dhanusha, Bara, Rautahat, Surkhet and Doti among others.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">In Parsa, a total of 25 projects have remained stalled while the number of projects lacking progress in Dhanusha is 11, Surkhet 18 and Doti 14.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">According to the ministry, around 2,000 projects have been completed while 1,200 are in progress. Among the 181 problematic projects, the ministry had aimed at completing 64 of them in fiscal year 2016/17 but was able to complete only 48 of them.&nbsp;</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Besides displaying vehicles of renowned brands, the auto show also featured new technologies, vehicle security gadgets, spare parts, lubricants, tyres, garage tools, batteries as well as other accessories. Insurance service and auto loans were also provided during the show.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Altogether 90 companies had set up 130 stalls during the auto show from August 29 to September 3.</p>

			'content' => '<p>September 4: A Nepal-China joint venture cement company has agreed to invest Rs 36.75 billion for the construction of a cement factory in Nepal. Hongshi-Shivam Cement Pvt Ltd and Investment Board Nepal (IBN) have signed a Project Investment Agreement (PIA) on September 3 for the development of the mega cement factory in Nepal.</p>

<p>Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of (IBN), Maha Prasad Adhikari, on behalf of the government of Nepal and the Director/General Manager of Hongshi-Shivam Cement, Lai Weipeng, on behalf of the company signed the PIA in the presence of Minister for Finance and Vice-chair of IBN Gyanendra Bahadur Karki and Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Yu Hong.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to the IBN, the contract provides high confidence to the company by providing protection to its investment. It also ensures the success of the project by stating the timelines for its construction.</p>

<p>As per the agreement, the company will make an investment of USD 359.18 million (approximately NRs 36.75 billion) to set up the cement factory in Nawalparasi district. The company has its mine in Palpa district. The project, a joint partnership between Hong Kong Red Lion Cement No 3 Ltd, a subsidiary unit of Hongshi Group from China and Shivam Holdings, consisting representatives from various business groups in Nepal, has planned to produce 6000 tons of cement per day. The company will start production by 2018.</p>

<p>Issuing a press statement, OIBN said that the project will provide high quality cement to the local market&rsquo;s demand and also create competition for quality of cement production in Nepal. The company has employed more than 1000 people during its construction period.</p>

<p>Speaking on the signing ceremony, Finance Minister Karki said the realization of the investment has sent a positive message in terms of overall business climate in Nepal. He also expressed commitment for providing necessary support on behalf of the government.</p>

<p>&quot;I would like to ensure that the government will provide all the necessary support and facilitation required to execute the project,&quot; he said. &nbsp;He also said that the government will provide necessary infrastructure facilities to the company as committed in the budget. Minister Karki also appreciated the efforts by Office of the Investment Board and necessary cooperation from all line ministries and agencies in the process of finalizing the pact.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>CEO of the Investment Board Adhikari said the agreement proved that Nepal has truly become an attractive investment destination for foreign investors.</p>

<p>&quot;With this agreement today, we open endless doors of investment opportunity for foreign companies to confidently invest in Nepal and become a partner in its journey towards economic prosperity,&quot; Adhikari added. He also thanked all stakeholders for the support and cooperation to facilitate the implementation of the project.</p>

<p>He also expressed gratitude to development partners such as JICA, World Bank, USAID and especially DFID for extending support to the Investment Board to deliver the highest quality service and professionalism that significantly contribute to the delivery of large-scale infrastructure projects in Nepal&nbsp;</p>

<p>On the occasion, Lai Weipeng, Director/General Manager of Hongshi-Shivam Cement Private Limited thanked the Investment Board for its support to bring the project to this stage.</p>

<p>Unilever has established itself as the biggest producer of local products in the country. With its one production unit and four packaging units, Unilever has been providing direct employment to 243 people and indirect employment to more than 20,000 people. &nbsp;</p>

But even thought the NOC extended the deadline for giving license to operate smart petrol pumps twice, only 98 operators have applied for upgrading their facilities. Among them, 76 are from private sector while the others include National Trading Corporation, Salt Trading Corporation, Sajha Service and Nepal Army. According to NOC, the number of applicants is much less than its expectation.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">NOC had proposed the concept of smart petrol pumps toward the end of last year and had called for applications not later than January 2. But only 73 applications were filed in the beginning. NOC extended the deadline till mid-July for the second time. By then, 22 additional firms were interested in setting up smart petrol pumps.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Among them, National Trading Corporation has requested to run the maximum number of smart petrol pumps. It has filed application for seven smart petrol pumps. Likewise, Salt Trading, Sajha Service and Nepal Army have filed applications to run four smart petrol pumps each.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Surprisingly, only three operators have filed application to run smart petrol pump within the Kathmandu valley.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">NOC Spokesperson Birendra Goit informed that 11 operators have been given permission to run smart petrol pumps.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">According to NOC, it has set Rs 50,000 as application fee for obtaining the license to run smart petrol pumps. Nepal Petroleum Dealers&rsquo; Association President Lilendra Pradhan said that the operators are dissatisfied with the criteria set by the NOC. Pradhan said that the low number of application is the result of the criteria set by NOC, which is hard to fulfil.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">&nbsp;According to the ministry, more than 90 percent of the stalled projects are related to the health sector. Since 2004/5, the Ministry of Urban Development started looking after health projects which used to be under the Ministry of Health. , informed joint-secretary Dr Ramesh Prasad Singh.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">More than Rs 30 billion has been spent in the projects so far. But the contractors have not handed over the projects despite crossing the deadline of the project by five years.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The health sector in currently under trouble due to lack of adequate infrastructure as well as the lack of pace in constructing new infrastructures.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Although it has been a long time since the health projects started in various districts, their progress has been very pathetic.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">According to Dr Singh, the ministry has been allocating more than Rs 3 billion annually for the construction of buildings for public health institutions. The Ministry of Health has been providing the amount to the Ministry of Urban Development and the Department of Buildings for implementation of the projects. Although the projects are carried out in all 75 districts, lack of progress has been observed more in districts like Parsa, Dhanusha, Bara, Rautahat, Surkhet and Doti among others.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">In Parsa, a total of 25 projects have remained stalled while the number of projects lacking progress in Dhanusha is 11, Surkhet 18 and Doti 14.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">According to the ministry, around 2,000 projects have been completed while 1,200 are in progress. Among the 181 problematic projects, the ministry had aimed at completing 64 of them in fiscal year 2016/17 but was able to complete only 48 of them.&nbsp;</p>

Hongshi-Shivam Cement Pvt Ltd and Investment Board Nepal (IBN) have signed a Project Investment Agreement (PIA) on September 3 for the development of the mega cement factory in Nepal.</p>

<p>Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of (IBN), Maha Prasad Adhikari, on behalf of the government of Nepal and the Director/General Manager of Hongshi-Shivam Cement, Lai Weipeng, on behalf of the company signed the PIA in the presence of Minister for Finance and Vice-chair of IBN Gyanendra Bahadur Karki and Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Yu Hong.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to the IBN, the contract provides high confidence to the company by providing protection to its investment. It also ensures the success of the project by stating the timelines for its construction.</p>

<p>As per the agreement, the company will make an investment of USD 359.18 million (approximately NRs 36.75 billion) to set up the cement factory in Nawalparasi district. The company has its mine in Palpa district. The project, a joint partnership between Hong Kong Red Lion Cement No 3 Ltd, a subsidiary unit of Hongshi Group from China and Shivam Holdings, consisting representatives from various business groups in Nepal, has planned to produce 6000 tons of cement per day. The company will start production by 2018.</p>

<p>Issuing a press statement, OIBN said that the project will provide high quality cement to the local market&rsquo;s demand and also create competition for quality of cement production in Nepal. The company has employed more than 1000 people during its construction period.</p>

<p>Speaking on the signing ceremony, Finance Minister Karki said the realization of the investment has sent a positive message in terms of overall business climate in Nepal. He also expressed commitment for providing necessary support on behalf of the government.</p>

<p>&quot;I would like to ensure that the government will provide all the necessary support and facilitation required to execute the project,&quot; he said. &nbsp;He also said that the government will provide necessary infrastructure facilities to the company as committed in the budget. Minister Karki also appreciated the efforts by Office of the Investment Board and necessary cooperation from all line ministries and agencies in the process of finalizing the pact.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>CEO of the Investment Board Adhikari said the agreement proved that Nepal has truly become an attractive investment destination for foreign investors.</p>

<p>&quot;With this agreement today, we open endless doors of investment opportunity for foreign companies to confidently invest in Nepal and become a partner in its journey towards economic prosperity,&quot; Adhikari added. He also thanked all stakeholders for the support and cooperation to facilitate the implementation of the project.</p>

<p>He also expressed gratitude to development partners such as JICA, World Bank, USAID and especially DFID for extending support to the Investment Board to deliver the highest quality service and professionalism that significantly contribute to the delivery of large-scale infrastructure projects in Nepal&nbsp;</p>

<p>On the occasion, Lai Weipeng, Director/General Manager of Hongshi-Shivam Cement Private Limited thanked the Investment Board for its support to bring the project to this stage.</p>

			'content' => '<p style="text-align: justify;">September 4: Petrol pump operators in Nepal seem least interested in using smart technology. Nepal Oil Corporation informed that they haven&rsquo;t got good response from operators to construct smart petrol pumps.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The state-run oil monopoly had presented the idea of smart petrol pumps to give good facilities and had also initiated the process to this end. But even thought the NOC extended the deadline for giving license to operate smart petrol pumps twice, only 98 operators have applied for upgrading their facilities. Among them, 76 are from private sector while the others include National Trading Corporation, Salt Trading Corporation, Sajha Service and Nepal Army. According to NOC, the number of applicants is much less than its expectation.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">NOC had proposed the concept of smart petrol pumps toward the end of last year and had called for applications not later than January 2. But only 73 applications were filed in the beginning. NOC extended the deadline till mid-July for the second time. By then, 22 additional firms were interested in setting up smart petrol pumps.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Among them, National Trading Corporation has requested to run the maximum number of smart petrol pumps. It has filed application for seven smart petrol pumps. Likewise, Salt Trading, Sajha Service and Nepal Army have filed applications to run four smart petrol pumps each.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Surprisingly, only three operators have filed application to run smart petrol pump within the Kathmandu valley.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">NOC Spokesperson Birendra Goit informed that 11 operators have been given permission to run smart petrol pumps.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">According to NOC, it has set Rs 50,000 as application fee for obtaining the license to run smart petrol pumps. Nepal Petroleum Dealers&rsquo; Association President Lilendra Pradhan said that the operators are dissatisfied with the criteria set by the NOC. Pradhan said that the low number of application is the result of the criteria set by NOC, which is hard to fulfil.</p>

The ministry&rsquo;s failure in effective monitoring has encouraged contractors to take up the projects and then leave them in the middle. Due to such practice, the projects as old as 14 years remained incomplete till date.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">&nbsp;According to the ministry, more than 90 percent of the stalled projects are related to the health sector. Since 2004/5, the Ministry of Urban Development started looking after health projects which used to be under the Ministry of Health. , informed joint-secretary Dr Ramesh Prasad Singh.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">More than Rs 30 billion has been spent in the projects so far. But the contractors have not handed over the projects despite crossing the deadline of the project by five years.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The health sector in currently under trouble due to lack of adequate infrastructure as well as the lack of pace in constructing new infrastructures.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Although it has been a long time since the health projects started in various districts, their progress has been very pathetic.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">According to Dr Singh, the ministry has been allocating more than Rs 3 billion annually for the construction of buildings for public health institutions. The Ministry of Health has been providing the amount to the Ministry of Urban Development and the Department of Buildings for implementation of the projects. Although the projects are carried out in all 75 districts, lack of progress has been observed more in districts like Parsa, Dhanusha, Bara, Rautahat, Surkhet and Doti among others.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">In Parsa, a total of 25 projects have remained stalled while the number of projects lacking progress in Dhanusha is 11, Surkhet 18 and Doti 14.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">According to the ministry, around 2,000 projects have been completed while 1,200 are in progress. Among the 181 problematic projects, the ministry had aimed at completing 64 of them in fiscal year 2016/17 but was able to complete only 48 of them.&nbsp;</p>

			'content' => '<p>September 4: A Nepal-China joint venture cement company has agreed to invest Rs 36.75 billion for the construction of a cement factory in Nepal. Hongshi-Shivam Cement Pvt Ltd and Investment Board Nepal (IBN) have signed a Project Investment Agreement (PIA) on September 3 for the development of the mega cement factory in Nepal.</p>

<p>Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of (IBN), Maha Prasad Adhikari, on behalf of the government of Nepal and the Director/General Manager of Hongshi-Shivam Cement, Lai Weipeng, on behalf of the company signed the PIA in the presence of Minister for Finance and Vice-chair of IBN Gyanendra Bahadur Karki and Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Yu Hong.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to the IBN, the contract provides high confidence to the company by providing protection to its investment. It also ensures the success of the project by stating the timelines for its construction.</p>

<p>As per the agreement, the company will make an investment of USD 359.18 million (approximately NRs 36.75 billion) to set up the cement factory in Nawalparasi district. The company has its mine in Palpa district. The project, a joint partnership between Hong Kong Red Lion Cement No 3 Ltd, a subsidiary unit of Hongshi Group from China and Shivam Holdings, consisting representatives from various business groups in Nepal, has planned to produce 6000 tons of cement per day. The company will start production by 2018.</p>

<p>Issuing a press statement, OIBN said that the project will provide high quality cement to the local market&rsquo;s demand and also create competition for quality of cement production in Nepal. The company has employed more than 1000 people during its construction period.</p>

<p>Speaking on the signing ceremony, Finance Minister Karki said the realization of the investment has sent a positive message in terms of overall business climate in Nepal. He also expressed commitment for providing necessary support on behalf of the government.</p>

<p>&quot;I would like to ensure that the government will provide all the necessary support and facilitation required to execute the project,&quot; he said. &nbsp;He also said that the government will provide necessary infrastructure facilities to the company as committed in the budget. Minister Karki also appreciated the efforts by Office of the Investment Board and necessary cooperation from all line ministries and agencies in the process of finalizing the pact.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>CEO of the Investment Board Adhikari said the agreement proved that Nepal has truly become an attractive investment destination for foreign investors.</p>

<p>&quot;With this agreement today, we open endless doors of investment opportunity for foreign companies to confidently invest in Nepal and become a partner in its journey towards economic prosperity,&quot; Adhikari added. He also thanked all stakeholders for the support and cooperation to facilitate the implementation of the project.</p>

<p>He also expressed gratitude to development partners such as JICA, World Bank, USAID and especially DFID for extending support to the Investment Board to deliver the highest quality service and professionalism that significantly contribute to the delivery of large-scale infrastructure projects in Nepal&nbsp;</p>

<p>On the occasion, Lai Weipeng, Director/General Manager of Hongshi-Shivam Cement Private Limited thanked the Investment Board for its support to bring the project to this stage.</p>
