The organisers informed that the team members Dipak Prasad Poudyal, Shyam Prasad Subedi, Ramesh Dhital, Ram Krishna Nepal and Suraj Adhikari, started their journey on June 5 and finished it on September 4 within 92 days.</p> <p>The journey started with a ceremony where President Bidhya Devi Bhandari handed the riders with the national flag.</p> <p>The tour kicked off from Kathmandu to Kakadvitta, Fulbari (India), Dhaka (Bangladesh), Sutarkandi (India), Mohare (India), Tamu (Myanmar), Mesot (Thailand), Sadawa (Thailand), Jorbaru (Malaysia), Singapore and back to Nepal. The total distance covered was approximately 11,599 km. The vehicles used were private Bajaj Dominar 400. The team spent Rs 10 million for the entire tour.</p> <p>Asked about their experiences about the tour, the riders stated, "Most of our friends and relatives thought it was an impossible venture. The project will incorporate various components such as construction of transmission lines, upgrading sub-stations in Barhabise, Laphsiphedi, Khimti and Chapagaun areas and the rehabilitation and capacity enhancement of distribution system in the Kathmandu Valley. According to the ministry, the project has completion period of 4.5 years.</p> <p>Finance Secretary Shanta Raj Subedi and Sharad Bhandari, officer-in-charge of Nepal Resident Mission, Asian Development Bank signed the loan agreement on behalf of the Government of Nepal and the ADB respectively.</p> <p>Similarly, Kulman Ghishing, managing director of Nepal Electricity Authority and Sharad Bhandari signed the project agreement.</p> <p>ADB has also agreed to provide US$ 21 million (approximately NRs 2.13 billion) policy based loan assistance to the Government of Nepal. The loan amount will be utilized in the implementation of SASEC Customs Reforms and Modernization for Trade Facilitation program, the ministry said.</p> <p>“The main objective of the program is to increase legitimate trade’s access for simplification, harmonization and modernization of trade processes. Being a policy based loan, after the successful completion of the program it is expected that national policy and legal framework for trade facilitation will be improved, customs procedures will be improved, organization structure of Department of Customs (DOC) will be strengthened and including other, the capacity of DOC will be enhanced. These problems have been further exacerbated by climate change making the entire catchments vulnerable,” reads the article dated September 5.</p> <p> WWF said that the project will work with local communities to promote wise use and management of water for household and agriculture use while replenishing ground water through an integrated water resource management approach. This will be done through interventions such as spring source conservation and conservation ponds.</p> <p>Likewise, in Barandhavar corridor, the project will work on restoring and maintaining the ecological integrity of the Beeshazari and associate lakes by engaging local communities in conservation.</p> <p>The lake system was designated as Ramsar site in 2003, yet, the wetland is being affected by several threats such as pollution, invasive species, human pressure on wetland resources, and unsustainable source of water to the wetland. The project will implement interventions to reduce these threats and conduct a water quality assessment of the lake system to yield positive impacts on ecosystem services and economic benefits for local people from ecotourism.</p> <p>“WWF Nepal has more than a decade of on-the-ground experience working in freshwater issues and integrated water resource management,” stated Rajesh Sada, freshwater lead of WWF Nepal. “The project will leverage on this experience coupled with WWF Nepal’s partnership with the Government of Nepal, local communities and other stakeholders.”</p> <p> </p> <p>This year, WWF and the Coca-Cola Company are celebrating ten years of partnership to help improve the health of the world’s river basins. The total distance covered was approximately 11,599 km. The vehicles used were private Bajaj Dominar 400. The project will incorporate various components such as construction of transmission lines, upgrading sub-stations in Barhabise, Laphsiphedi, Khimti and Chapagaun areas and the rehabilitation and capacity enhancement of distribution system in the Kathmandu Valley. According to the ministry, the project has completion period of 4.5 years.</p> <p>Finance Secretary Shanta Raj Subedi and Sharad Bhandari, officer-in-charge of Nepal Resident Mission, Asian Development Bank signed the loan agreement on behalf of the Government of Nepal and the ADB respectively.</p> <p>Similarly, Kulman Ghishing, managing director of Nepal Electricity Authority and Sharad Bhandari signed the project agreement.</p> <p>ADB has also agreed to provide US$ 21 million (approximately NRs 2.13 billion) policy based loan assistance to the Government of Nepal. The loan amount will be utilized in the implementation of SASEC Customs Reforms and Modernization for Trade Facilitation program, the ministry said.</p> <p>“The main objective of the program is to increase legitimate trade’s access for simplification, harmonization and modernization of trade processes. Being a policy based loan, after the successful completion of the program it is expected that national policy and legal framework for trade facilitation will be improved, customs procedures will be improved, organization structure of Department of Customs (DOC) will be strengthened and including other, the capacity of DOC will be enhanced. These problems have been further exacerbated by climate change making the entire catchments vulnerable,” reads the article dated September 5.</p> <p> WWF said that the project will work with local communities to promote wise use and management of water for household and agriculture use while replenishing ground water through an integrated water resource management approach. This will be done through interventions such as spring source conservation and conservation ponds.</p> <p>Likewise, in Barandhavar corridor, the project will work on restoring and maintaining the ecological integrity of the Beeshazari and associate lakes by engaging local communities in conservation.</p> <p>The lake system was designated as Ramsar site in 2003, yet, the wetland is being affected by several threats such as pollution, invasive species, human pressure on wetland resources, and unsustainable source of water to the wetland. The project will implement interventions to reduce these threats and conduct a water quality assessment of the lake system to yield positive impacts on ecosystem services and economic benefits for local people from ecotourism.</p> <p>“WWF Nepal has more than a decade of on-the-ground experience working in freshwater issues and integrated water resource management,” stated Rajesh Sada, freshwater lead of WWF Nepal. “The project will leverage on this experience coupled with WWF Nepal’s partnership with the Government of Nepal, local communities and other stakeholders.”</p> <p> </p> <p>This year, WWF and the Coca-Cola Company are celebrating ten years of partnership to help improve the health of the world’s river basins. These problems have been further exacerbated by climate change making the entire catchments vulnerable,” reads the article dated September 5.</p> <p> WWF said that the project will work with local communities to promote wise use and management of water for household and agriculture use while replenishing ground water through an integrated water resource management approach. This will be done through interventions such as spring source conservation and conservation ponds.</p> <p>Likewise, in Barandhavar corridor, the project will work on restoring and maintaining the ecological integrity of the Beeshazari and associate lakes by engaging local communities in conservation.</p> <p>The lake system was designated as Ramsar site in 2003, yet, the wetland is being affected by several threats such as pollution, invasive species, human pressure on wetland resources, and unsustainable source of water to the wetland. The project will incorporate various components such as construction of transmission lines, upgrading sub-stations in Barhabise, Laphsiphedi, Khimti and Chapagaun areas and the rehabilitation and capacity enhancement of distribution system in the Kathmandu Valley. According to the ministry, the project has completion period of 4.5 years.</p> <p>Finance Secretary Shanta Raj Subedi and Sharad Bhandari, officer-in-charge of Nepal Resident Mission, Asian Development Bank signed the loan agreement on behalf of the Government of Nepal and the ADB respectively.</p> <p>Similarly, Kulman Ghishing, managing director of Nepal Electricity Authority and Sharad Bhandari signed the project agreement.</p> <p>ADB has also agreed to provide US$ 21 million (approximately NRs 2.13 billion) policy based loan assistance to the Government of Nepal. The loan amount will be utilized in the implementation of SASEC Customs Reforms and Modernization for Trade Facilitation program, the ministry said.</p> <p>“The main objective of the program is to increase legitimate trade’s access for simplification, harmonization and modernization of trade processes. Being a policy based loan, after the successful completion of the program it is expected that national policy and legal framework for trade facilitation will be improved, customs procedures will be improved, organization structure of Department of Customs (DOC) will be strengthened and including other, the capacity of DOC will be enhanced. These problems have been further exacerbated by climate change making the entire catchments vulnerable,” reads the article dated September 5.</p> <p> WWF said that the project will work with local communities to promote wise use and management of water for household and agriculture use while replenishing ground water through an integrated water resource management approach. This will be done through interventions such as spring source conservation and conservation ponds.</p> <p>Likewise, in Barandhavar corridor, the project will work on restoring and maintaining the ecological integrity of the Beeshazari and associate lakes by engaging local communities in conservation.</p> <p>The lake system was designated as Ramsar site in 2003, yet, the wetland is being affected by several threats such as pollution, invasive species, human pressure on wetland resources, and unsustainable source of water to the wetland.
