<p>Among the IME customers who sent money to their relatives in Nepal, Thaneshwor Neupane from Qatar won Rs 1 million in the sixth week lucky draw and Bimal Gautam from the UAE won life insurance policy worth Rs 600,000, the company said in a statement.</p>

<p>Neupane had sent Rs 27,500 and was selected as the winner for the bumper prize of Rs 1 million amidst a function&nbsp; held at IME head office. The lucky draws were conducted by IME&rsquo;s brand ambassador Deepak Raj Giri.</p>

<p>Selection of the winners was done through software-based lucky draws conducted from the pool of transaction IDs and customer information appearing in IME system.</p>

<p>IME customers who send money to their relatives in Nepal and customers who send money within Nepal will get a chance to win Rs 100 for 60 customers daily and Rs 600,000 worth of life insurance policy every fifteen days. The insurance policy will be opened in the name of the nominee of the winner chosen through lucky draw in case the winner is an international sender. As the bumper prize, IME said it will conduct lucky draw every 6<sup>th</sup> week and the winner will be awarded Rs 1 million in cash.&nbsp;</p>

The verdict was issued by the full bench of the apex court about a year ago but the full text was published in Nepal&rsquo;s law journal on Tuesday.</p>

<p>Earlier, a joint bench of SC justices had issued a verdict that only the monies proven to have been earned through illegal means would be considered money laundering. However, the full bench of justices overturned the verdict and ruled that any money lacking source of income would be considered money laundering.</p>

<p>On July 10, 2013, the joint bench of SC justices had set a precedent saying that the money held by Sunil Jaiswal and others cannot be considered money laundering unless it was proven that the money was earned through illegal means.</p>

<p>However, the full bench of justices Jagdish Sharma Poudel, Meera Khadka and Dr Anand Mohan Bhattarai overturned the precedent and ruled that the money held Madhav Kumar Bhagat and Ashok Kumar Kar accounted to money laundering as they were unable to show the source of income.</p>

<p>Section 28 of the Money Laundering Act, 2064 states that the accused must show the source of income if their property is not in proportion to their income or financial status, if they maintain a high standard of life and donates more than one&rsquo;s capacity. If the accused fail to show the source of income then the money will be considered as money laundering.</p>

<p>The defendant Bhagat had claimed that the money he had belonged to Indian nationals but failed to establish his claims. Police had confiscated Rs 1.8 million from the accused.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Sharma said that the locals have not yet stopped using postal service though.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Speaking at a workshop organized in Kathmandu, the US ambassador to Nepal also urged the government of Nepal to bring new policies which encourage and support the private sector to increase the production of the country, which will ultimately help to reduce the ballooning trade deficit.</p>

<p>The workshop entitled &lsquo;Enhancing Nepal-US Trade by Utilizing Trade Preference Program&rsquo; was jointly organized by Pavilion Group and the US Embassy in Nepal. The workshop was organized with an aim to make entrepreneurs, traders, government officials and stakeholders aware about the benefits, opportunities and possibilities of Nepal Trade Preference Program (NTPP), under which the US government provides duty-free offer for 77 different commodities while importing goods from Nepal.</p>

<p>The goods which are in the duty-free list include carpets, shawls, hand luggage, travelling goods, among others. The program was introduced by the US government to help revive the economy of Nepal, which was struck by a massive earthquake back in 2015.</p>

<p>Despite the US being the second biggest importer of goods among the least developed countries (LDC), Nepal only managed to export goods worth $89 million to the US in 2016.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Nepal has failed to take huge benefit from the program. The program was passed by the US government to work together on the economic prosperity of Nepal,&rdquo; Teplitz said, adding that the private sector should also take initiative and work seriously to create new jobs and boost the production of the nation.</p>

<p>Nepal enjoys the benefits of NTTP till the end of 2025. Addressing the workshop, Teplitz asked the Nepali traders and entrepreneurs to hurry up and take huge benefit from the program, as it will end within the next eight years.</p>

<p>&ldquo;There is a huge Nepali community in the US, and the local people there also love Nepali products, so both the country can benefit from the program,&rdquo; she says.</p>

<p>Likewise, Arjun Kumar Karki, Nepali ambassador to the US, also accepted the fact that Nepal has failed to fully utilize the program. &ldquo;This program passed by the US government can turn very fruitful for the entrepreneurs, if they focus on exporting the items which have duty-free access rather than demanding access for other expensive products. The trade generated from the program will surely help on poverty reduction and socio-economic development of Nepal,&rdquo; he added.</p>

<p>The workshop was also attended by entrepreneurs, traders, government officials, and other officials of the US Embassy in Kathmandu.</p>

<p>Bagwan has been involved in the business of selling cycles in the name of Gorkha and Bagwan Cycle Suppliers Firm for more than two decades. &ldquo;We had been selling bicycles of other brands till now,&rdquo; Bagwan said, adding, &ldquo;We have started selling our own brand now.&rdquo;</p>

<p>The products are assembled in China.</p>

<p>The bicycles have been prepared in a way that they can be used in the plains, hills and the mountains, informed Bhagwan. &ldquo;This is a mountain bike but can be ridden everywhere,&rdquo; Bagwan told New Business Age, adding, &ldquo;The price of the bikes starts from a minimum of Rs 10,000.&rdquo;</p>

<p>He said the bicycles have been prepared with an aim to make the brand recognizable for its quality all over the country. Lately, bicycles that cost up to Rs 100,000 has been in the market. &ldquo;People who own cars worth millions show interest in riding bicycles.&rdquo;&nbsp;</p>

Unknown assailants opened fire at Gauchan at Prayagmarga Chowk of New Baneshwar while he was on his way to Anamnagar-based FCAN office from his home at Shantinagar.</p>

<p>Gauchan was travelling on his Toyota Prado jeep with registration number Ba 13 Cha 4948 when he was stopped by a group of criminals at 3 pm and shot dead. Police were yet to nab the assailants till late Monday night.</p>

<p>The Metropolitan Police Range said that it has intensified investigation into the case but declined to divulge further details.</p>

<p>Although the police claimed that they have arrested three persons with pistol from Bauddha area, it is not yet confirmed whether they were involved in the same case or not.</p>

<p>According to eyewitnesses, the assailants first threw a brick in front of the driver&rsquo;s window and then opened fire at Gauchan, who was seated in the front row besides the driver. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>There were marks of two shots on the front window of the jeep. After the assault, the attackers used a motorbike parked nearby and fled towards Katyani Chowk, according to the eyewitnesses.</p>

<p>Although Gauchan&rsquo;s driver took him to Civil Hospital, doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. According to Dr Bimal Thapa, Gauchan sustained bullets injuries to his heart, liver and in between the two vital organs.</p>

<p>After the death of Gauchan, callers from unidentified numbers have started threatening other builders and contractors. FCAN General Secretary Ram Sharah Deuja informed that the blackmailers have been seeking millions of rupees in ransom from them.&nbsp;</p>

The verdict was issued by the full bench of the apex court about a year ago but the full text was published in Nepal&rsquo;s law journal on Tuesday.</p>

<p>Earlier, a joint bench of SC justices had issued a verdict that only the monies proven to have been earned through illegal means would be considered money laundering. However, the full bench of justices overturned the verdict and ruled that any money lacking source of income would be considered money laundering.</p>

<p>On July 10, 2013, the joint bench of SC justices had set a precedent saying that the money held by Sunil Jaiswal and others cannot be considered money laundering unless it was proven that the money was earned through illegal means.</p>

<p>However, the full bench of justices Jagdish Sharma Poudel, Meera Khadka and Dr Anand Mohan Bhattarai overturned the precedent and ruled that the money held Madhav Kumar Bhagat and Ashok Kumar Kar accounted to money laundering as they were unable to show the source of income.</p>

<p>Section 28 of the Money Laundering Act, 2064 states that the accused must show the source of income if their property is not in proportion to their income or financial status, if they maintain a high standard of life and donates more than one&rsquo;s capacity. If the accused fail to show the source of income then the money will be considered as money laundering.</p>

<p>The defendant Bhagat had claimed that the money he had belonged to Indian nationals but failed to establish his claims. Police had confiscated Rs 1.8 million from the accused.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Speaking at a workshop organized in Kathmandu, the US ambassador to Nepal also urged the government of Nepal to bring new policies which encourage and support the private sector to increase the production of the country, which will ultimately help to reduce the ballooning trade deficit.</p>

<p>The workshop entitled &lsquo;Enhancing Nepal-US Trade by Utilizing Trade Preference Program&rsquo; was jointly organized by Pavilion Group and the US Embassy in Nepal. The workshop was organized with an aim to make entrepreneurs, traders, government officials and stakeholders aware about the benefits, opportunities and possibilities of Nepal Trade Preference Program (NTPP), under which the US government provides duty-free offer for 77 different commodities while importing goods from Nepal.</p>

<p>The goods which are in the duty-free list include carpets, shawls, hand luggage, travelling goods, among others. The program was introduced by the US government to help revive the economy of Nepal, which was struck by a massive earthquake back in 2015.</p>

<p>Despite the US being the second biggest importer of goods among the least developed countries (LDC), Nepal only managed to export goods worth $89 million to the US in 2016.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Nepal has failed to take huge benefit from the program. The program was passed by the US government to work together on the economic prosperity of Nepal,&rdquo; Teplitz said, adding that the private sector should also take initiative and work seriously to create new jobs and boost the production of the nation.</p>

<p>Nepal enjoys the benefits of NTTP till the end of 2025. Addressing the workshop, Teplitz asked the Nepali traders and entrepreneurs to hurry up and take huge benefit from the program, as it will end within the next eight years.</p>

<p>&ldquo;There is a huge Nepali community in the US, and the local people there also love Nepali products, so both the country can benefit from the program,&rdquo; she says.</p>

<p>Likewise, Arjun Kumar Karki, Nepali ambassador to the US, also accepted the fact that Nepal has failed to fully utilize the program. &ldquo;This program passed by the US government can turn very fruitful for the entrepreneurs, if they focus on exporting the items which have duty-free access rather than demanding access for other expensive products. The trade generated from the program will surely help on poverty reduction and socio-economic development of Nepal,&rdquo; he added.</p>

<p>The workshop was also attended by entrepreneurs, traders, government officials, and other officials of the US Embassy in Kathmandu.</p>

Unknown assailants opened fire at Gauchan at Prayagmarga Chowk of New Baneshwar while he was on his way to Anamnagar-based FCAN office from his home at Shantinagar.</p>

<p>Gauchan was travelling on his Toyota Prado jeep with registration number Ba 13 Cha 4948 when he was stopped by a group of criminals at 3 pm and shot dead. Police were yet to nab the assailants till late Monday night.</p>

<p>The Metropolitan Police Range said that it has intensified investigation into the case but declined to divulge further details.</p>

<p>Although the police claimed that they have arrested three persons with pistol from Bauddha area, it is not yet confirmed whether they were involved in the same case or not.</p>

<p>According to eyewitnesses, the assailants first threw a brick in front of the driver&rsquo;s window and then opened fire at Gauchan, who was seated in the front row besides the driver. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>There were marks of two shots on the front window of the jeep. After the assault, the attackers used a motorbike parked nearby and fled towards Katyani Chowk, according to the eyewitnesses.</p>

<p>Although Gauchan&rsquo;s driver took him to Civil Hospital, doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. According to Dr Bimal Thapa, Gauchan sustained bullets injuries to his heart, liver and in between the two vital organs.</p>

<p>After the death of Gauchan, callers from unidentified numbers have started threatening other builders and contractors. FCAN General Secretary Ram Sharah Deuja informed that the blackmailers have been seeking millions of rupees in ransom from them.&nbsp;</p>

The verdict was issued by the full bench of the apex court about a year ago but the full text was published in Nepal&rsquo;s law journal on Tuesday.</p>

<p>Earlier, a joint bench of SC justices had issued a verdict that only the monies proven to have been earned through illegal means would be considered money laundering. However, the full bench of justices overturned the verdict and ruled that any money lacking source of income would be considered money laundering.</p>

<p>On July 10, 2013, the joint bench of SC justices had set a precedent saying that the money held by Sunil Jaiswal and others cannot be considered money laundering unless it was proven that the money was earned through illegal means.</p>

<p>However, the full bench of justices Jagdish Sharma Poudel, Meera Khadka and Dr Anand Mohan Bhattarai overturned the precedent and ruled that the money held Madhav Kumar Bhagat and Ashok Kumar Kar accounted to money laundering as they were unable to show the source of income.</p>

<p>Section 28 of the Money Laundering Act, 2064 states that the accused must show the source of income if their property is not in proportion to their income or financial status, if they maintain a high standard of life and donates more than one&rsquo;s capacity. If the accused fail to show the source of income then the money will be considered as money laundering.</p>

<p>The defendant Bhagat had claimed that the money he had belonged to Indian nationals but failed to establish his claims. Police had confiscated Rs 1.8 million from the accused.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Speaking at a workshop organized in Kathmandu, the US ambassador to Nepal also urged the government of Nepal to bring new policies which encourage and support the private sector to increase the production of the country, which will ultimately help to reduce the ballooning trade deficit.</p>

<p>The workshop entitled &lsquo;Enhancing Nepal-US Trade by Utilizing Trade Preference Program&rsquo; was jointly organized by Pavilion Group and the US Embassy in Nepal. The workshop was organized with an aim to make entrepreneurs, traders, government officials and stakeholders aware about the benefits, opportunities and possibilities of Nepal Trade Preference Program (NTPP), under which the US government provides duty-free offer for 77 different commodities while importing goods from Nepal.</p>

<p>The goods which are in the duty-free list include carpets, shawls, hand luggage, travelling goods, among others. The program was introduced by the US government to help revive the economy of Nepal, which was struck by a massive earthquake back in 2015.</p>

<p>Despite the US being the second biggest importer of goods among the least developed countries (LDC), Nepal only managed to export goods worth $89 million to the US in 2016.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Nepal has failed to take huge benefit from the program. The program was passed by the US government to work together on the economic prosperity of Nepal,&rdquo; Teplitz said, adding that the private sector should also take initiative and work seriously to create new jobs and boost the production of the nation.</p>

<p>Nepal enjoys the benefits of NTTP till the end of 2025. Addressing the workshop, Teplitz asked the Nepali traders and entrepreneurs to hurry up and take huge benefit from the program, as it will end within the next eight years.</p>

<p>&ldquo;There is a huge Nepali community in the US, and the local people there also love Nepali products, so both the country can benefit from the program,&rdquo; she says.</p>

<p>Likewise, Arjun Kumar Karki, Nepali ambassador to the US, also accepted the fact that Nepal has failed to fully utilize the program. &ldquo;This program passed by the US government can turn very fruitful for the entrepreneurs, if they focus on exporting the items which have duty-free access rather than demanding access for other expensive products. The trade generated from the program will surely help on poverty reduction and socio-economic development of Nepal,&rdquo; he added.</p>

<p>The workshop was also attended by entrepreneurs, traders, government officials, and other officials of the US Embassy in Kathmandu.</p>

Unknown assailants opened fire at Gauchan at Prayagmarga Chowk of New Baneshwar while he was on his way to Anamnagar-based FCAN office from his home at Shantinagar.</p>

<p>Gauchan was travelling on his Toyota Prado jeep with registration number Ba 13 Cha 4948 when he was stopped by a group of criminals at 3 pm and shot dead. Police were yet to nab the assailants till late Monday night.</p>

<p>The Metropolitan Police Range said that it has intensified investigation into the case but declined to divulge further details.</p>

<p>Although the police claimed that they have arrested three persons with pistol from Bauddha area, it is not yet confirmed whether they were involved in the same case or not.</p>

<p>According to eyewitnesses, the assailants first threw a brick in front of the driver&rsquo;s window and then opened fire at Gauchan, who was seated in the front row besides the driver. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>There were marks of two shots on the front window of the jeep. After the assault, the attackers used a motorbike parked nearby and fled towards Katyani Chowk, according to the eyewitnesses.</p>

<p>Although Gauchan&rsquo;s driver took him to Civil Hospital, doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. According to Dr Bimal Thapa, Gauchan sustained bullets injuries to his heart, liver and in between the two vital organs.</p>

<p>After the death of Gauchan, callers from unidentified numbers have started threatening other builders and contractors. FCAN General Secretary Ram Sharah Deuja informed that the blackmailers have been seeking millions of rupees in ransom from them.&nbsp;</p>

The verdict was issued by the full bench of the apex court about a year ago but the full text was published in Nepal&rsquo;s law journal on Tuesday.</p>

<p>Earlier, a joint bench of SC justices had issued a verdict that only the monies proven to have been earned through illegal means would be considered money laundering. However, the full bench of justices overturned the verdict and ruled that any money lacking source of income would be considered money laundering.</p>

<p>On July 10, 2013, the joint bench of SC justices had set a precedent saying that the money held by Sunil Jaiswal and others cannot be considered money laundering unless it was proven that the money was earned through illegal means.</p>

<p>However, the full bench of justices Jagdish Sharma Poudel, Meera Khadka and Dr Anand Mohan Bhattarai overturned the precedent and ruled that the money held Madhav Kumar Bhagat and Ashok Kumar Kar accounted to money laundering as they were unable to show the source of income.</p>

<p>Section 28 of the Money Laundering Act, 2064 states that the accused must show the source of income if their property is not in proportion to their income or financial status, if they maintain a high standard of life and donates more than one&rsquo;s capacity. If the accused fail to show the source of income then the money will be considered as money laundering.</p>

<p>The defendant Bhagat had claimed that the money he had belonged to Indian nationals but failed to establish his claims. Police had confiscated Rs 1.8 million from the accused.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The tele-centers have been providing modern services like email, fax as well as teaching people how to use computers in addition to the traditional postal service, informed Sharma. The tele-centers have been set up at Khurkot, Karkineta, Thulipokhari, Lukhu, Huwas, Urampokhara, Setibeni and Khorpokhara of the district.</p>

<p>The District Postal Office informed that it has been providing services at a subsidised rate to the locals. Sharma informed that there are plans to convert other postal offices into tele-centers as well.</p>

<p>The district has one District Postal Office, 11 Area Postal Offices and 43 Additional Postal Offices.</p>

<p>Sharma said that the locals have not yet stopped using postal service though.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Speaking at a workshop organized in Kathmandu, the US ambassador to Nepal also urged the government of Nepal to bring new policies which encourage and support the private sector to increase the production of the country, which will ultimately help to reduce the ballooning trade deficit.</p>

<p>The workshop entitled &lsquo;Enhancing Nepal-US Trade by Utilizing Trade Preference Program&rsquo; was jointly organized by Pavilion Group and the US Embassy in Nepal. The workshop was organized with an aim to make entrepreneurs, traders, government officials and stakeholders aware about the benefits, opportunities and possibilities of Nepal Trade Preference Program (NTPP), under which the US government provides duty-free offer for 77 different commodities while importing goods from Nepal.</p>

<p>The goods which are in the duty-free list include carpets, shawls, hand luggage, travelling goods, among others. The program was introduced by the US government to help revive the economy of Nepal, which was struck by a massive earthquake back in 2015.</p>

<p>Despite the US being the second biggest importer of goods among the least developed countries (LDC), Nepal only managed to export goods worth $89 million to the US in 2016.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Nepal has failed to take huge benefit from the program. The program was passed by the US government to work together on the economic prosperity of Nepal,&rdquo; Teplitz said, adding that the private sector should also take initiative and work seriously to create new jobs and boost the production of the nation.</p>

<p>Nepal enjoys the benefits of NTTP till the end of 2025. Addressing the workshop, Teplitz asked the Nepali traders and entrepreneurs to hurry up and take huge benefit from the program, as it will end within the next eight years.</p>

<p>&ldquo;There is a huge Nepali community in the US, and the local people there also love Nepali products, so both the country can benefit from the program,&rdquo; she says.</p>

<p>Likewise, Arjun Kumar Karki, Nepali ambassador to the US, also accepted the fact that Nepal has failed to fully utilize the program. &ldquo;This program passed by the US government can turn very fruitful for the entrepreneurs, if they focus on exporting the items which have duty-free access rather than demanding access for other expensive products. The trade generated from the program will surely help on poverty reduction and socio-economic development of Nepal,&rdquo; he added.</p>

<p>The workshop was also attended by entrepreneurs, traders, government officials, and other officials of the US Embassy in Kathmandu.</p>

<p>The products are assembled in China.</p>

<p>The bicycles have been prepared in a way that they can be used in the plains, hills and the mountains, informed Bhagwan. &ldquo;This is a mountain bike but can be ridden everywhere,&rdquo; Bagwan told New Business Age, adding, &ldquo;The price of the bikes starts from a minimum of Rs 10,000.&rdquo;</p>

Unknown assailants opened fire at Gauchan at Prayagmarga Chowk of New Baneshwar while he was on his way to Anamnagar-based FCAN office from his home at Shantinagar.</p>

<p>Gauchan was travelling on his Toyota Prado jeep with registration number Ba 13 Cha 4948 when he was stopped by a group of criminals at 3 pm and shot dead. Police were yet to nab the assailants till late Monday night.</p>

<p>The Metropolitan Police Range said that it has intensified investigation into the case but declined to divulge further details.</p>

<p>Although the police claimed that they have arrested three persons with pistol from Bauddha area, it is not yet confirmed whether they were involved in the same case or not.</p>

<p>According to eyewitnesses, the assailants first threw a brick in front of the driver&rsquo;s window and then opened fire at Gauchan, who was seated in the front row besides the driver. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>There were marks of two shots on the front window of the jeep. After the assault, the attackers used a motorbike parked nearby and fled towards Katyani Chowk, according to the eyewitnesses.</p>

<p>Although Gauchan&rsquo;s driver took him to Civil Hospital, doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. According to Dr Bimal Thapa, Gauchan sustained bullets injuries to his heart, liver and in between the two vital organs.</p>

<p>After the death of Gauchan, callers from unidentified numbers have started threatening other builders and contractors. FCAN General Secretary Ram Sharah Deuja informed that the blackmailers have been seeking millions of rupees in ransom from them.&nbsp;</p>
