<p>The hotels here have become capable of serving 600 tourists a day. Keshav Neupane, manager at Hotel Siddartha, said that the field has become lively as tourist influx has taken a leap. Indian tourists visit Kailash-Mansarovar taking air route from Nepalgunj to Simikot, Humla and Taklakot, China, he added. Last year, 9,000 tourists had reached Mansarovar taking the route of Nepalgunj to Simkot. The number of tourist visiting Mansarovar this year has reached 13,000.</p>

<p>About 7,000 tourists came to Nepalgunj from Lucknow Rupaidiha while the other 7,000 had reached there from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj by flight. Of the total tourists that visit Mansarovar, 99 percent are Indian tourists.</p>

<p>There are 10 flights a day, scheduled from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj after the number of tourist travelling to the destination grew. Likewise, there are 16 flights from Nepalgunj to Simikot, Humla on a daily basis.</p>

<p>The minister made such comments as THRD Alliance presented a petition entitled &lsquo;Make tenant farmers eligible for the Nepal Government&#39;s post-flood agricultural recovery&rsquo; to the ministry.</p>

<p>A total of 1,100 people have signed the petition started by THRD Alliance on the web-based petition platform change.org three weeks ago. On behalf of the signatories, Praveen Kumar Yadav presented hard copies of the petition along with the names of signatories to Minister Yadav.</p>

<p>Upon receiving the petition, the minister endorsed its suggestions, according to THRD Alliance. Although most tenant farmers lack written agreements with their landlords, their tenancy will be verified by local elected representatives and endorsed by District Agricultural Development Office (DADO) staff, Minister Yadav reportedly told the petitioners. A press statement issued by the alliance says that the minister assured that the government aid will be deposited directly to the bank accounts of flood-hit tenant farmers.</p>

<p>On August 27, the Ministry of Agricultural Development (MoAD) announced Rs 1.25 billion flood recovery package. According to the government&rsquo;s estimates, the flooding last August caused damages worth Rs 5.84 billion to the agricultural sector, affecting 140,646 hectares of land and severely damaging 37,757 hectares of standing crops.</p>

<p>The statement said that the grant was released against a set of performance indicators and provides the means to accelerate reconstruction efforts.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Budget support uses country owned-mechanisms to give money directly; it reduces transaction costs, strengthens government systems and fosters self-reliance,&rdquo; reads the statement.</p>

<p>The EU also congratulated the Nepali authorities and all stakeholders involved for the progress made so far in advancing reconstruction under the coordinating role of the National Reconstruction Authority (NRA).&nbsp;</p>

<p>&ldquo;It is important that the current momentum be maintained and indeed increased in the time ahead so as to &quot;build back better&quot; for the benefit of the Nepali people including the most vulnerable,&quot; said EU Ambassador designate Veronica Cody.</p>

<p>The EU expressed its belief that the decentralization under way in Nepal will provide opportunities to involve the newly elected local governments in accelerating reconstruction.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Since the education sector was the public sector most severely affected by the earthquakes it is vital that specific attention is paid to rebuild safer schools as quickly as possible,&rdquo; the statement said.</p>

<p>The EU said it will remain engaged to contribute to these tasks through measures which are complementary to the NEARR programme &ndash; notably the NEARR Technical Assistance Facility and the accountability initiative with Transparency International Nepal &ndash; as well as through the ongoing policy dialogue and a new budget support programme in the education sector.&nbsp;</p>

<p>&ldquo;The shortening of the trials has hit the laborers hard as they used to get employment for carrying the belongings of the tourists,&rdquo; he said, adding that the number of tourists has significantly increased after the massive earthquake back in 2015.</p>

<p>According to Yubraj Kunwar, chairperson of Annapurna Rural Municipality, they will strictly prohibit construction of roads in Annapurna region. Tourism entrepreneurs of the region also say that their business has been seriously affected with the shortening of the trekking routes.</p>

Last year, 9,000 tourists had reached Mansarovar taking the route of Nepalgunj to Simkot. The number of tourist visiting Mansarovar this year has reached 13,000.</p>

<p>About 7,000 tourists came to Nepalgunj from Lucknow Rupaidiha while the other 7,000 had reached there from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj by flight. Of the total tourists that visit Mansarovar, 99 percent are Indian tourists.</p>

<p>There are 10 flights a day, scheduled from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj after the number of tourist travelling to the destination grew. Likewise, there are 16 flights from Nepalgunj to Simikot, Humla on a daily basis.</p>

<p>The minister made such comments as THRD Alliance presented a petition entitled &lsquo;Make tenant farmers eligible for the Nepal Government&#39;s post-flood agricultural recovery&rsquo; to the ministry.</p>

<p>A total of 1,100 people have signed the petition started by THRD Alliance on the web-based petition platform change.org three weeks ago. On behalf of the signatories, Praveen Kumar Yadav presented hard copies of the petition along with the names of signatories to Minister Yadav.</p>

<p>Upon receiving the petition, the minister endorsed its suggestions, according to THRD Alliance. Although most tenant farmers lack written agreements with their landlords, their tenancy will be verified by local elected representatives and endorsed by District Agricultural Development Office (DADO) staff, Minister Yadav reportedly told the petitioners. A press statement issued by the alliance says that the minister assured that the government aid will be deposited directly to the bank accounts of flood-hit tenant farmers.</p>

<p>On August 27, the Ministry of Agricultural Development (MoAD) announced Rs 1.25 billion flood recovery package. According to the government&rsquo;s estimates, the flooding last August caused damages worth Rs 5.84 billion to the agricultural sector, affecting 140,646 hectares of land and severely damaging 37,757 hectares of standing crops.</p>

<p>Following the decision, some MoAD officials had stated that the flood victims would have to show proof of land ownership or a written tenancy agreement in order to receive compensation for crop damage.&nbsp;</p>

<p>This would have been impossible for many tenant farmers, since most&nbsp; lack any written agreement with the landowner, relying instead on informal, verbal agreements. The lack of formal documentation for tenancy might have resulted in many tenant farmers being denied compensation, reads the statement.</p>

<p>Issuing a press statement on Monday, the EU said this is the second tranche of the 105 million euro support for Nepal-EU Action for Recovery and Reconstruction (NEARR) programme and follows an earlier disbursement of 50 million euros made in July 2016.</p>

<p>The statement said that the grant was released against a set of performance indicators and provides the means to accelerate reconstruction efforts.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Budget support uses country owned-mechanisms to give money directly; it reduces transaction costs, strengthens government systems and fosters self-reliance,&rdquo; reads the statement.</p>

<p>The EU also congratulated the Nepali authorities and all stakeholders involved for the progress made so far in advancing reconstruction under the coordinating role of the National Reconstruction Authority (NRA).&nbsp;</p>

<p>&ldquo;It is important that the current momentum be maintained and indeed increased in the time ahead so as to &quot;build back better&quot; for the benefit of the Nepali people including the most vulnerable,&quot; said EU Ambassador designate Veronica Cody.</p>

<p>The EU expressed its belief that the decentralization under way in Nepal will provide opportunities to involve the newly elected local governments in accelerating reconstruction.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Since the education sector was the public sector most severely affected by the earthquakes it is vital that specific attention is paid to rebuild safer schools as quickly as possible,&rdquo; the statement said.</p>

<p>The EU said it will remain engaged to contribute to these tasks through measures which are complementary to the NEARR programme &ndash; notably the NEARR Technical Assistance Facility and the accountability initiative with Transparency International Nepal &ndash; as well as through the ongoing policy dialogue and a new budget support programme in the education sector.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Despite the increase in the flow of tourists, the trails have been significantly shortened over the years, which is quite disappointing, says, Deepak Adhikari, president of the Western Region Trekking Association of Nepal.</p>

<p>&ldquo;The shortening of the trials has hit the laborers hard as they used to get employment for carrying the belongings of the tourists,&rdquo; he said, adding that the number of tourists has significantly increased after the massive earthquake back in 2015.</p>

<p>According to Yubraj Kunwar, chairperson of Annapurna Rural Municipality, they will strictly prohibit construction of roads in Annapurna region. Tourism entrepreneurs of the region also say that their business has been seriously affected with the shortening of the trekking routes.</p>

Nepal&rsquo;s popular Soaltee Group has started preparation for the operation of a branch in the area.</p>

<p>The hotels here have become capable of serving 600 tourists a day. Keshav Neupane, manager at Hotel Siddartha, said that the field has become lively as tourist influx has taken a leap. Indian tourists visit Kailash-Mansarovar taking air route from Nepalgunj to Simikot, Humla and Taklakot, China, he added. Last year, 9,000 tourists had reached Mansarovar taking the route of Nepalgunj to Simkot. The number of tourist visiting Mansarovar this year has reached 13,000.</p>

<p>About 7,000 tourists came to Nepalgunj from Lucknow Rupaidiha while the other 7,000 had reached there from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj by flight. Of the total tourists that visit Mansarovar, 99 percent are Indian tourists.</p>

<p>There are 10 flights a day, scheduled from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj after the number of tourist travelling to the destination grew. Likewise, there are 16 flights from Nepalgunj to Simikot, Humla on a daily basis.</p>

<p>The minister made such comments as THRD Alliance presented a petition entitled &lsquo;Make tenant farmers eligible for the Nepal Government&#39;s post-flood agricultural recovery&rsquo; to the ministry.</p>

<p>A total of 1,100 people have signed the petition started by THRD Alliance on the web-based petition platform change.org three weeks ago. On behalf of the signatories, Praveen Kumar Yadav presented hard copies of the petition along with the names of signatories to Minister Yadav.</p>

<p>Upon receiving the petition, the minister endorsed its suggestions, according to THRD Alliance. Although most tenant farmers lack written agreements with their landlords, their tenancy will be verified by local elected representatives and endorsed by District Agricultural Development Office (DADO) staff, Minister Yadav reportedly told the petitioners. A press statement issued by the alliance says that the minister assured that the government aid will be deposited directly to the bank accounts of flood-hit tenant farmers.</p>

<p>On August 27, the Ministry of Agricultural Development (MoAD) announced Rs 1.25 billion flood recovery package. According to the government&rsquo;s estimates, the flooding last August caused damages worth Rs 5.84 billion to the agricultural sector, affecting 140,646 hectares of land and severely damaging 37,757 hectares of standing crops.</p>

<p>Following the decision, some MoAD officials had stated that the flood victims would have to show proof of land ownership or a written tenancy agreement in order to receive compensation for crop damage.&nbsp;</p>

<p>This would have been impossible for many tenant farmers, since most&nbsp; lack any written agreement with the landowner, relying instead on informal, verbal agreements. The lack of formal documentation for tenancy might have resulted in many tenant farmers being denied compensation, reads the statement.</p>

<p>The EU also congratulated the Nepali authorities and all stakeholders involved for the progress made so far in advancing reconstruction under the coordinating role of the National Reconstruction Authority (NRA).&nbsp;</p>

<p>&ldquo;It is important that the current momentum be maintained and indeed increased in the time ahead so as to &quot;build back better&quot; for the benefit of the Nepali people including the most vulnerable,&quot; said EU Ambassador designate Veronica Cody.</p>

<p>The EU expressed its belief that the decentralization under way in Nepal will provide opportunities to involve the newly elected local governments in accelerating reconstruction.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Since the education sector was the public sector most severely affected by the earthquakes it is vital that specific attention is paid to rebuild safer schools as quickly as possible,&rdquo; the statement said.</p>

<p>The EU said it will remain engaged to contribute to these tasks through measures which are complementary to the NEARR programme &ndash; notably the NEARR Technical Assistance Facility and the accountability initiative with Transparency International Nepal &ndash; as well as through the ongoing policy dialogue and a new budget support programme in the education sector.&nbsp;</p>

Indian tourists visit Kailash-Mansarovar taking air route from Nepalgunj to Simikot, Humla and Taklakot, China, he added. Last year, 9,000 tourists had reached Mansarovar taking the route of Nepalgunj to Simkot. The number of tourist visiting Mansarovar this year has reached 13,000.</p>

<p>About 7,000 tourists came to Nepalgunj from Lucknow Rupaidiha while the other 7,000 had reached there from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj by flight. Of the total tourists that visit Mansarovar, 99 percent are Indian tourists.</p>

<p>There are 10 flights a day, scheduled from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj after the number of tourist travelling to the destination grew. Likewise, there are 16 flights from Nepalgunj to Simikot, Humla on a daily basis.</p>

<p>The minister made such comments as THRD Alliance presented a petition entitled &lsquo;Make tenant farmers eligible for the Nepal Government&#39;s post-flood agricultural recovery&rsquo; to the ministry.</p>

<p>A total of 1,100 people have signed the petition started by THRD Alliance on the web-based petition platform change.org three weeks ago. On behalf of the signatories, Praveen Kumar Yadav presented hard copies of the petition along with the names of signatories to Minister Yadav.</p>

<p>Upon receiving the petition, the minister endorsed its suggestions, according to THRD Alliance. Although most tenant farmers lack written agreements with their landlords, their tenancy will be verified by local elected representatives and endorsed by District Agricultural Development Office (DADO) staff, Minister Yadav reportedly told the petitioners. A press statement issued by the alliance says that the minister assured that the government aid will be deposited directly to the bank accounts of flood-hit tenant farmers.</p>

<p>On August 27, the Ministry of Agricultural Development (MoAD) announced Rs 1.25 billion flood recovery package. According to the government&rsquo;s estimates, the flooding last August caused damages worth Rs 5.84 billion to the agricultural sector, affecting 140,646 hectares of land and severely damaging 37,757 hectares of standing crops.</p>

<p>Following the decision, some MoAD officials had stated that the flood victims would have to show proof of land ownership or a written tenancy agreement in order to receive compensation for crop damage.&nbsp;</p>

<p>This would have been impossible for many tenant farmers, since most&nbsp; lack any written agreement with the landowner, relying instead on informal, verbal agreements. The lack of formal documentation for tenancy might have resulted in many tenant farmers being denied compensation, reads the statement.</p>

<p>Issuing a press statement on Monday, the EU said this is the second tranche of the 105 million euro support for Nepal-EU Action for Recovery and Reconstruction (NEARR) programme and follows an earlier disbursement of 50 million euros made in July 2016.</p>

<p>The statement said that the grant was released against a set of performance indicators and provides the means to accelerate reconstruction efforts.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Budget support uses country owned-mechanisms to give money directly; it reduces transaction costs, strengthens government systems and fosters self-reliance,&rdquo; reads the statement.</p>

<p>The EU also congratulated the Nepali authorities and all stakeholders involved for the progress made so far in advancing reconstruction under the coordinating role of the National Reconstruction Authority (NRA).&nbsp;</p>

<p>&ldquo;It is important that the current momentum be maintained and indeed increased in the time ahead so as to &quot;build back better&quot; for the benefit of the Nepali people including the most vulnerable,&quot; said EU Ambassador designate Veronica Cody.</p>

<p>The EU expressed its belief that the decentralization under way in Nepal will provide opportunities to involve the newly elected local governments in accelerating reconstruction.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Since the education sector was the public sector most severely affected by the earthquakes it is vital that specific attention is paid to rebuild safer schools as quickly as possible,&rdquo; the statement said.</p>

<p>The EU said it will remain engaged to contribute to these tasks through measures which are complementary to the NEARR programme &ndash; notably the NEARR Technical Assistance Facility and the accountability initiative with Transparency International Nepal &ndash; as well as through the ongoing policy dialogue and a new budget support programme in the education sector.&nbsp;</p>
