	According to the organisers, the annual summit is an effort to give impetus to the Himalayan Consensus Declaration 2014 which proposes keeping socio-economic development abreast with environmental conservation in the Himalayan region.</p>

	Overall, the theme of the summit revolved around making people the priority, the need for innovation for sustainable development and sharing social responsibility.</p>

	April 2: The under-construction railway track in Biratnagar built with India&rsquo;s assistance has been found to be of sub-standard quality. A section of the railway structure caved in due to normal rain and hailstones of Saturday night. The rainfall caused damages to an open culvert in between the railway tracks as well as a wall in the railway yard in Biratnagar-18.</p>
<p>
	Around 180 meters of the culvert, which was built to facilitate the flow of water in between the tracks, was damaged by the rain.</p>
<p>
	A representative of the contractor assigned to build the track said that the structure got damaged due to excessive rainfall. Sanjeev Dev of the contractor company said that a large amount of hailstones had gathered at the area where the damage occurred. As a result, the structure caved in, said Dev. He further claimed that the hailstones damaged the plaster of the wall because the size of the hailstones was exceptionally big. While he made such claim, New Business Age found that the plaster was very thin resulting in the damage.</p>

	The railway track is being built with the assistance from the Indian government as per an understanding reached between Nepal and India in 2010 to build railway structures in five different places.</p>

	April 2: Nepali diaspora in Bangkok recently held an interaction with the vice chaiman of the National Planning Commission (NPC) and senior government officials to discuss about the development plan and vision for Nepal.</p>
<p>
	The interaction program was organized by Nepal Policy Institute (NPI) in association with NRNA Thailand in Bangkok on Friday, March 29. According to NPI member Ramesh Singh, the program was a part of NPI&rsquo;s effort in collecting inputs for 15th periodic development plan and long-term vision of Nepal as requested by NPC some three weeks ago.</p>
<p>
	NPI said in a statement that NPC Joint Secretary Khom Raj Koirala gave a keynote speech on the overview of the draft for 15th plan and long-term vision plan in all sectors prepared by the NPC.</p>
<p>
	Koirala said that it may take almost a year to finalize the whole plan and NPC intended to engage NPI from the early stage.</p>
<p>
	Following the NPC&rsquo;s presentation, NPI Chair Khagendra Dhakal gave a keynote presentation sharing the major points that were drawn through the global consultation to shape the Bangkok based interaction effectively.</p>
<p>
	Dhakal presented nine different problems and their solutions in response to the draft of NPC. NPI Chair Dhakal also recommended a new theme Build-Produce- Manage-Monitor (BPMM) for the consideration of NPC to adopt in the upcoming plan and vision.</p>
<p>
	Giving a closing remark as the chief guest of the program, NPC VC Puspa Raj Kadel responded to all the queries and comments and noted them as realistic concerns to accommodate.</p>
<p>
	Thirty two experts from the diverse areas of expertise had attended the interaction program where Nepal&rsquo;s Ambassador to Thailand Khaga Nath Adhikari and NRNA Thailand President Assajita Awale had given welcome remarks.</p>

	Operators of some industries informed New Business Age that they were tormented by rain and hailstones after the storm blew away the roof and felled the walls.</p>

	Four industries of Chachan Group have been damaged by the storm. Strong wind blew away the structures of the industries.</p>

	Satish Chachan, proprietor of Chachan Group, said that the storm damaged their infrastructure, raw materials and equipment.</p>
<p>
	Narayani Refinery, Narayani Pulses, Narayani Modern Lentil Industry and Narayani Cement sustained damages.</p>
<p>
	Entrepreneurs have estimate loss of millions due to the storm.</p>
<p>
	Meanwhile, supply of electricity has been disrupted in both the districts. Bara and Parsa were left in the dark as the storm damaged electricity transmission lines.</p>
<p>
	The Nepal Electricity Authority&rsquo;s Birgunj office confirmed that the supply of electricity has been disrupted due to the incident.</p>
<p>
	Munindra Thakur of the office informed New Business Age that Sunday evening&rsquo;s storm caused heavy damages to the 66 KV transmission line of Nitanpur. It has been learnt that Raxaul-Parwanipur&rsquo;s 150 kv transmission line has also been damaged.</p>
<p>
	The storm also felled poles in many places.</p>
<p>
	NEA said it has so far been unable to supply electricity to the industries as well as households of the two districts.</p>
<p>
	Arun Singh, chief of the maintenance department of NEA Birgunj, said that the repair of the 66 KV transmission line of Nitanpur is currently underway. NEA said it is effortful to resume supply of electricity by Monday evening.</p>

	Dismantled structures still lie scattered in many places on both sides of the road, which is full of potholes. During rainfall, the road resembles a field ready for plantation while during sunny days it looks like an arid desert with sand storm.</p>

	Traffic jam adds to the woes of the commuters in this vital road section, which is one of the major entry points into the capital. The road has been in this situation since the last four years.</p>
<p>
	Whoever travels along this road wishes never to travel through it again. But they have no other option than to make the annoying trip due to lack of alternative routes.</p>
<p>
	The authorities have been digging the road time and again in the name of upgrading it. They fill the pit and then lay gravel but do not blacktop it. Since the road not given finishing touches and is left as it is, it soon returns to its former ugly state. The same process has been repeating again and again since the last four years.</p>

	Although some sections of this road in front of big hotels and resorts have been blacktopped, most of it is still in pathetic condition. At present, the concerned authorities have dumped aggregate on the road side for graveling it. But no one knows how long they will have to suffer the same fate.</p>

Another company Triveni Cable Car had initially submitted a proposal for the cable car but it withdrew its application abruptly. After the rival backed off, Pathibhara Mata Devi Darshan Cable Car initiated the process to go ahead with the project.</p>

	&ldquo;Dispute between the two companies have been resolved a few days ago. Now we will start the construction from this New Year,&rdquo; said Ishwari Poudel, executive director of Pathibhara Mata Devi Darshan Cable Car Pvt Ltd. Triveni Cable Car&rsquo;s Managing Director Subash Sanghai confirmed that the company has pulled out from the project. The two companies were involved in a legal battle, thereby delaying the construction of the proposed cable car.</p>
<p>
	Triveni Cable Car had filed a lawsuit against Pathibhara Mata Devi Darshan Cable Car Pvt Ltd but later decided to withdraw the case.</p>
<p>
	&ldquo;We were fed up quarreling for the cable car which is being established for a religious purpose. So we decided to reconcile,&rdquo; said Sanghai.</p>

	China National Aerotechnology International has been assigned the task of upgrading the runway. According to sources at TIA, the airport will remain closed from 10 pm till 8 am every day.</p>
<p>
	Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) signed an agreement to this effect with the Chinese company on October 12. The upgrading of the runway is estimated to cost Rs 3.75 billion.</p>
<p>
	Director General of TIA Sanjeev&nbsp; Gautam said that the airport will not face any problem for the next 25 to 30 years once the runway gets upgraded.</p>
<p>
	According to him, the Chinese company will &lsquo;rehabilitate&rsquo; 80 meters of the runway every day.</p>
<p>
	The runway overlay was done four times before but this is the first time that it is being fully upgraded.</p>
<p>
	Airport authorities said they decided to overhaul the runway after recurring problems of blacktopping coming off the runway.</p>

	April 2: The under-construction railway track in Biratnagar built with India&rsquo;s assistance has been found to be of sub-standard quality. A section of the railway structure caved in due to normal rain and hailstones of Saturday night. The rainfall caused damages to an open culvert in between the railway tracks as well as a wall in the railway yard in Biratnagar-18.</p>
<p>
	Around 180 meters of the culvert, which was built to facilitate the flow of water in between the tracks, was damaged by the rain.</p>
<p>
	A representative of the contractor assigned to build the track said that the structure got damaged due to excessive rainfall. Sanjeev Dev of the contractor company said that a large amount of hailstones had gathered at the area where the damage occurred. As a result, the structure caved in, said Dev. He further claimed that the hailstones damaged the plaster of the wall because the size of the hailstones was exceptionally big. While he made such claim, New Business Age found that the plaster was very thin resulting in the damage.</p>

	The railway track is being built with the assistance from the Indian government as per an understanding reached between Nepal and India in 2010 to build railway structures in five different places.</p>

	Himalaya Airlines said it has appointed Fishtail Travel and Tourism as its GSA for the UAE.</p>
<p>
	The new flights will operate every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday with Airbus A320-214 narrow body aircraft. The flight offers 8 seats in premium economy class and 150 in economy class. The flight schedule has been timed evenly throughout the week to provide a mix of weekend, short stay and business travel options, the company added.</p>

	The interaction program was organized by Nepal Policy Institute (NPI) in association with NRNA Thailand in Bangkok on Friday, March 29. According to NPI member Ramesh Singh, the program was a part of NPI&rsquo;s effort in collecting inputs for 15th periodic development plan and long-term vision of Nepal as requested by NPC some three weeks ago.</p>

	NPI said in a statement that NPC Joint Secretary Khom Raj Koirala gave a keynote speech on the overview of the draft for 15th plan and long-term vision plan in all sectors prepared by the NPC.</p>
<p>
	Koirala said that it may take almost a year to finalize the whole plan and NPC intended to engage NPI from the early stage.</p>
<p>
	Following the NPC&rsquo;s presentation, NPI Chair Khagendra Dhakal gave a keynote presentation sharing the major points that were drawn through the global consultation to shape the Bangkok based interaction effectively.</p>
<p>
	Dhakal presented nine different problems and their solutions in response to the draft of NPC. NPI Chair Dhakal also recommended a new theme Build-Produce- Manage-Monitor (BPMM) for the consideration of NPC to adopt in the upcoming plan and vision.</p>
<p>
	Giving a closing remark as the chief guest of the program, NPC VC Puspa Raj Kadel responded to all the queries and comments and noted them as realistic concerns to accommodate.</p>
<p>
	Thirty two experts from the diverse areas of expertise had attended the interaction program where Nepal&rsquo;s Ambassador to Thailand Khaga Nath Adhikari and NRNA Thailand President Assajita Awale had given welcome remarks.</p>

	Operators of some industries informed New Business Age that they were tormented by rain and hailstones after the storm blew away the roof and felled the walls.</p>

	Four industries of Chachan Group have been damaged by the storm. Strong wind blew away the structures of the industries.</p>

	Satish Chachan, proprietor of Chachan Group, said that the storm damaged their infrastructure, raw materials and equipment.</p>
<p>
	Narayani Refinery, Narayani Pulses, Narayani Modern Lentil Industry and Narayani Cement sustained damages.</p>
<p>
	Entrepreneurs have estimate loss of millions due to the storm.</p>
<p>
	Meanwhile, supply of electricity has been disrupted in both the districts. Bara and Parsa were left in the dark as the storm damaged electricity transmission lines.</p>
<p>
	The Nepal Electricity Authority&rsquo;s Birgunj office confirmed that the supply of electricity has been disrupted due to the incident.</p>
<p>
	Munindra Thakur of the office informed New Business Age that Sunday evening&rsquo;s storm caused heavy damages to the 66 KV transmission line of Nitanpur. It has been learnt that Raxaul-Parwanipur&rsquo;s 150 kv transmission line has also been damaged.</p>
<p>
	The storm also felled poles in many places.</p>
<p>
	NEA said it has so far been unable to supply electricity to the industries as well as households of the two districts.</p>
<p>
	Arun Singh, chief of the maintenance department of NEA Birgunj, said that the repair of the 66 KV transmission line of Nitanpur is currently underway. NEA said it is effortful to resume supply of electricity by Monday evening.</p>

	Dismantled structures still lie scattered in many places on both sides of the road, which is full of potholes. During rainfall, the road resembles a field ready for plantation while during sunny days it looks like an arid desert with sand storm.</p>

	Traffic jam adds to the woes of the commuters in this vital road section, which is one of the major entry points into the capital. The road has been in this situation since the last four years.</p>
<p>
	Whoever travels along this road wishes never to travel through it again. But they have no other option than to make the annoying trip due to lack of alternative routes.</p>
<p>
	The authorities have been digging the road time and again in the name of upgrading it. They fill the pit and then lay gravel but do not blacktop it. Since the road not given finishing touches and is left as it is, it soon returns to its former ugly state. The same process has been repeating again and again since the last four years.</p>

	Although some sections of this road in front of big hotels and resorts have been blacktopped, most of it is still in pathetic condition. 	April 1: The pilgrimage to the renowned temple of Pathibhara in eastern Nepal will be accessible through cable car in the near future. Construction of infrastructure of the cable car will commence from the Nepali New Year, which is just around the corner.</p>

	Pathibhara Mata Devi Darshan Cable Car Pvt Ltd has announced to start the construction from the New Year. Another company Triveni Cable Car had initially submitted a proposal for the cable car but it withdrew its application abruptly. After the rival backed off, Pathibhara Mata Devi Darshan Cable Car initiated the process to go ahead with the project.</p>
<p>
	&ldquo;Dispute between the two companies have been resolved a few days ago. Now we will start the construction from this New Year,&rdquo; said Ishwari Poudel, executive director of Pathibhara Mata Devi Darshan Cable Car Pvt Ltd. Triveni Cable Car&rsquo;s Managing Director Subash Sanghai confirmed that the company has pulled out from the project. The two companies were involved in a legal battle, thereby delaying the construction of the proposed cable car.</p>
<p>
	Triveni Cable Car had filed a lawsuit against Pathibhara Mata Devi Darshan Cable Car Pvt Ltd but later decided to withdraw the case.</p>
<p>
	&ldquo;We were fed up quarreling for the cable car which is being established for a religious purpose. So we decided to reconcile,&rdquo; said Sanghai.</p>

	April 1: The Tribhuvan International Airport will remain closed for ten hours a day for three months from Monday evening for upgrading the runway.</p>

	China National Aerotechnology International has been assigned the task of upgrading the runway. According to sources at TIA, the airport will remain closed from 10 pm till 8 am every day.</p>
<p>
	Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) signed an agreement to this effect with the Chinese company on October 12. The upgrading of the runway is estimated to cost Rs 3.75 billion.</p>
<p>
	Director General of TIA Sanjeev&nbsp; Gautam said that the airport will not face any problem for the next 25 to 30 years once the runway gets upgraded.</p>
<p>
	According to him, the Chinese company will &lsquo;rehabilitate&rsquo; 80 meters of the runway every day.</p>
<p>
	The runway overlay was done four times before but this is the first time that it is being fully upgraded.</p>
<p>
	Airport authorities said they decided to overhaul the runway after recurring problems of blacktopping coming off the runway.</p>

	April 2: The under-construction railway track in Biratnagar built with India&rsquo;s assistance has been found to be of sub-standard quality. A section of the railway structure caved in due to normal rain and hailstones of Saturday night. The rainfall caused damages to an open culvert in between the railway tracks as well as a wall in the railway yard in Biratnagar-18.</p>
<p>
	Around 180 meters of the culvert, which was built to facilitate the flow of water in between the tracks, was damaged by the rain.</p>
<p>
	A representative of the contractor assigned to build the track said that the structure got damaged due to excessive rainfall. Sanjeev Dev of the contractor company said that a large amount of hailstones had gathered at the area where the damage occurred. As a result, the structure caved in, said Dev. He further claimed that the hailstones damaged the plaster of the wall because the size of the hailstones was exceptionally big. While he made such claim, New Business Age found that the plaster was very thin resulting in the damage.</p>

	The railway track is being built with the assistance from the Indian government as per an understanding reached between Nepal and India in 2010 to build railway structures in five different places.</p>

	NPI said in a statement that NPC Joint Secretary Khom Raj Koirala gave a keynote speech on the overview of the draft for 15th plan and long-term vision plan in all sectors prepared by the NPC.</p>

	Koirala said that it may take almost a year to finalize the whole plan and NPC intended to engage NPI from the early stage.</p>
<p>
	Following the NPC&rsquo;s presentation, NPI Chair Khagendra Dhakal gave a keynote presentation sharing the major points that were drawn through the global consultation to shape the Bangkok based interaction effectively.</p>
<p>
	Dhakal presented nine different problems and their solutions in response to the draft of NPC. NPI Chair Dhakal also recommended a new theme Build-Produce- Manage-Monitor (BPMM) for the consideration of NPC to adopt in the upcoming plan and vision.</p>
<p>
	Giving a closing remark as the chief guest of the program, NPC VC Puspa Raj Kadel responded to all the queries and comments and noted them as realistic concerns to accommodate.</p>

	Operators of some industries informed New Business Age that they were tormented by rain and hailstones after the storm blew away the roof and felled the walls.</p>

	Four industries of Chachan Group have been damaged by the storm. Strong wind blew away the structures of the industries.</p>

	Satish Chachan, proprietor of Chachan Group, said that the storm damaged their infrastructure, raw materials and equipment.</p>
<p>
	Narayani Refinery, Narayani Pulses, Narayani Modern Lentil Industry and Narayani Cement sustained damages.</p>
<p>
	Entrepreneurs have estimate loss of millions due to the storm.</p>
<p>
	Meanwhile, supply of electricity has been disrupted in both the districts. Bara and Parsa were left in the dark as the storm damaged electricity transmission lines.</p>
<p>
	The Nepal Electricity Authority&rsquo;s Birgunj office confirmed that the supply of electricity has been disrupted due to the incident.</p>
<p>
	Munindra Thakur of the office informed New Business Age that Sunday evening&rsquo;s storm caused heavy damages to the 66 KV transmission line of Nitanpur. It has been learnt that Raxaul-Parwanipur&rsquo;s 150 kv transmission line has also been damaged.</p>
<p>
	The storm also felled poles in many places.</p>
<p>
	NEA said it has so far been unable to supply electricity to the industries as well as households of the two districts.</p>
<p>
	Arun Singh, chief of the maintenance department of NEA Birgunj, said that the repair of the 66 KV transmission line of Nitanpur is currently underway. NEA said it is effortful to resume supply of electricity by Monday evening.</p>

	Dismantled structures still lie scattered in many places on both sides of the road, which is full of potholes. During rainfall, the road resembles a field ready for plantation while during sunny days it looks like an arid desert with sand storm.</p>

	Traffic jam adds to the woes of the commuters in this vital road section, which is one of the major entry points into the capital. The road has been in this situation since the last four years.</p>

	Whoever travels along this road wishes never to travel through it again. But they have no other option than to make the annoying trip due to lack of alternative routes.</p>
<p>
	The authorities have been digging the road time and again in the name of upgrading it. They fill the pit and then lay gravel but do not blacktop it. Since the road not given finishing touches and is left as it is, it soon returns to its former ugly state. The same process has been repeating again and again since the last four years.</p>

	Although some sections of this road in front of big hotels and resorts have been blacktopped, most of it is still in pathetic condition. At present, the concerned authorities have dumped aggregate on the road side for graveling it. But no one knows how long they will have to suffer the same fate.</p>

Another company Triveni Cable Car had initially submitted a proposal for the cable car but it withdrew its application abruptly. After the rival backed off, Pathibhara Mata Devi Darshan Cable Car initiated the process to go ahead with the project.</p>

	&ldquo;Dispute between the two companies have been resolved a few days ago. Now we will start the construction from this New Year,&rdquo; said Ishwari Poudel, executive director of Pathibhara Mata Devi Darshan Cable Car Pvt Ltd. Triveni Cable Car&rsquo;s Managing Director Subash Sanghai confirmed that the company has pulled out from the project. The two companies were involved in a legal battle, thereby delaying the construction of the proposed cable car.</p>

	Triveni Cable Car had filed a lawsuit against Pathibhara Mata Devi Darshan Cable Car Pvt Ltd but later decided to withdraw the case.</p>

	China National Aerotechnology International has been assigned the task of upgrading the runway. According to sources at TIA, the airport will remain closed from 10 pm till 8 am every day.</p>

	Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) signed an agreement to this effect with the Chinese company on October 12. The upgrading of the runway is estimated to cost Rs 3.75 billion.</p>
<p>
	Director General of TIA Sanjeev&nbsp; Gautam said that the airport will not face any problem for the next 25 to 30 years once the runway gets upgraded.</p>
<p>
	According to him, the Chinese company will &lsquo;rehabilitate&rsquo; 80 meters of the runway every day.</p>
<p>
	The runway overlay was done four times before but this is the first time that it is being fully upgraded.</p>
<p>
	Airport authorities said they decided to overhaul the runway after recurring problems of blacktopping coming off the runway.</p>

	The summit hosted by Hong Kong-based the Himalayan Consensus Institute in collaboration with Nepal Economic Forum at Hotel Himalaya focused on sharing knowledge of the Himalayas and their tradition to channelize them to achieve solutions in the form of concrete outcomes that are pragmatic, policy-driven as well as applicable and adapted by the concerned governments in the region, reads a joint statement issued by the organisers.</p>

	According to the organisers, the annual summit is an effort to give impetus to the Himalayan Consensus Declaration 2014 which proposes keeping socio-economic development abreast with environmental conservation in the Himalayan region.</p>

	Overall, the theme of the summit revolved around making people the priority, the need for innovation for sustainable development and sharing social responsibility.</p>

	April 2: The under-construction railway track in Biratnagar built with India&rsquo;s assistance has been found to be of sub-standard quality. A section of the railway structure caved in due to normal rain and hailstones of Saturday night. The rainfall caused damages to an open culvert in between the railway tracks as well as a wall in the railway yard in Biratnagar-18.</p>
<p>
	Around 180 meters of the culvert, which was built to facilitate the flow of water in between the tracks, was damaged by the rain.</p>
<p>
	A representative of the contractor assigned to build the track said that the structure got damaged due to excessive rainfall. Sanjeev Dev of the contractor company said that a large amount of hailstones had gathered at the area where the damage occurred. As a result, the structure caved in, said Dev. He further claimed that the hailstones damaged the plaster of the wall because the size of the hailstones was exceptionally big. While he made such claim, New Business Age found that the plaster was very thin resulting in the damage.</p>

	The railway track is being built with the assistance from the Indian government as per an understanding reached between Nepal and India in 2010 to build railway structures in five different places.</p>

According to NPI member Ramesh Singh, the program was a part of NPI&rsquo;s effort in collecting inputs for 15th periodic development plan and long-term vision of Nepal as requested by NPC some three weeks ago.</p>

	NPI said in a statement that NPC Joint Secretary Khom Raj Koirala gave a keynote speech on the overview of the draft for 15th plan and long-term vision plan in all sectors prepared by the NPC.</p>

	Koirala said that it may take almost a year to finalize the whole plan and NPC intended to engage NPI from the early stage.</p>
<p>
	Following the NPC&rsquo;s presentation, NPI Chair Khagendra Dhakal gave a keynote presentation sharing the major points that were drawn through the global consultation to shape the Bangkok based interaction effectively.</p>

	Dhakal presented nine different problems and their solutions in response to the draft of NPC. NPI Chair Dhakal also recommended a new theme Build-Produce- Manage-Monitor (BPMM) for the consideration of NPC to adopt in the upcoming plan and vision.</p>

	Giving a closing remark as the chief guest of the program, NPC VC Puspa Raj Kadel responded to all the queries and comments and noted them as realistic concerns to accommodate.</p>

	April 1: Sunday evening&rsquo;s storm has caused damages to more than a dozen industries in Bara and Parsa. The storm has destroyed the infrastructures of many industries.</p>

	Operators of some industries informed New Business Age that they were tormented by rain and hailstones after the storm blew away the roof and felled the walls.</p>
<p>
	Four industries of Chachan Group have been damaged by the storm. Strong wind blew away the structures of the industries.</p>
<p>
	Satish Chachan, proprietor of Chachan Group, said that the storm damaged their infrastructure, raw materials and equipment.</p>
<p>
	Narayani Refinery, Narayani Pulses, Narayani Modern Lentil Industry and Narayani Cement sustained damages.</p>
<p>
	Entrepreneurs have estimate loss of millions due to the storm.</p>
<p>
	Meanwhile, supply of electricity has been disrupted in both the districts. Bara and Parsa were left in the dark as the storm damaged electricity transmission lines.</p>
<p>
	The Nepal Electricity Authority&rsquo;s Birgunj office confirmed that the supply of electricity has been disrupted due to the incident.</p>
<p>
	Munindra Thakur of the office informed New Business Age that Sunday evening&rsquo;s storm caused heavy damages to the 66 KV transmission line of Nitanpur. It has been learnt that Raxaul-Parwanipur&rsquo;s 150 kv transmission line has also been damaged.</p>
<p>
	The storm also felled poles in many places.</p>
<p>
	NEA said it has so far been unable to supply electricity to the industries as well as households of the two districts.</p>
<p>
	Arun Singh, chief of the maintenance department of NEA Birgunj, said that the repair of the 66 KV transmission line of Nitanpur is currently underway. NEA said it is effortful to resume supply of electricity by Monday evening.</p>

Travelling along this road is a nightmare for commuters while the locals and vendors have been suffering from the air pollution and traffic congestion in the area.</p>

	Dismantled structures still lie scattered in many places on both sides of the road, which is full of potholes. During rainfall, the road resembles a field ready for plantation while during sunny days it looks like an arid desert with sand storm.</p>
<p>
	Traffic jam adds to the woes of the commuters in this vital road section, which is one of the major entry points into the capital. The road has been in this situation since the last four years.</p>
<p>
	Whoever travels along this road wishes never to travel through it again. But they have no other option than to make the annoying trip due to lack of alternative routes.</p>
<p>
	The authorities have been digging the road time and again in the name of upgrading it. They fill the pit and then lay gravel but do not blacktop it. Since the road not given finishing touches and is left as it is, it soon returns to its former ugly state. The same process has been repeating again and again since the last four years.</p>
<p>
	Although some sections of this road in front of big hotels and resorts have been blacktopped, most of it is still in pathetic condition. At present, the concerned authorities have dumped aggregate on the road side for graveling it. But no one knows how long they will have to suffer the same fate.</p>

Another company Triveni Cable Car had initially submitted a proposal for the cable car but it withdrew its application abruptly. After the rival backed off, Pathibhara Mata Devi Darshan Cable Car initiated the process to go ahead with the project.</p>

	&ldquo;Dispute between the two companies have been resolved a few days ago. Now we will start the construction from this New Year,&rdquo; said Ishwari Poudel, executive director of Pathibhara Mata Devi Darshan Cable Car Pvt Ltd. Triveni Cable Car&rsquo;s Managing Director Subash Sanghai confirmed that the company has pulled out from the project. The two companies were involved in a legal battle, thereby delaying the construction of the proposed cable car.</p>
<p>
	Triveni Cable Car had filed a lawsuit against Pathibhara Mata Devi Darshan Cable Car Pvt Ltd but later decided to withdraw the case.</p>
<p>
	&ldquo;We were fed up quarreling for the cable car which is being established for a religious purpose. So we decided to reconcile,&rdquo; said Sanghai.</p>

	China National Aerotechnology International has been assigned the task of upgrading the runway. According to sources at TIA, the airport will remain closed from 10 pm till 8 am every day.</p>
<p>
	Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) signed an agreement to this effect with the Chinese company on October 12. The upgrading of the runway is estimated to cost Rs 3.75 billion.</p>
<p>
	Director General of TIA Sanjeev&nbsp; Gautam said that the airport will not face any problem for the next 25 to 30 years once the runway gets upgraded.</p>
<p>
	According to him, the Chinese company will &lsquo;rehabilitate&rsquo; 80 meters of the runway every day.</p>
<p>
	The runway overlay was done four times before but this is the first time that it is being fully upgraded.</p>
<p>
	Airport authorities said they decided to overhaul the runway after recurring problems of blacktopping coming off the runway.</p>
