<p style="text-align: justify;">According to Kulman Ghising, Managing Director of NEA, around 200 MW is needed as a backup to meet the demand. &quot;It is necessary to accumulate the electricity which has remained unused in the passive hours to prepare for backup for the busy hours,&quot; shares Ghising.&nbsp;</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">We have been facing this situation because the electricity imported from India and produced by the private sector have not been able to meet the demand in the peak hour.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Currently, NEA produces 351 MW of electricity and the private sector 155MW during the evening peak hours. To add to this, the country is also importing 369 MW from India. However, the statistics shows that the country&rsquo;s demand is a whopping 1,245 MW daily in the peak hours.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">NEA has been running a power cut for four hours in the evening to manage the electricity during the peak hour. Some power plants developed by NEA including the Chamelia (30 MW) and Kulekhani III (14 MW) and some other projects of private sector are yet to be completed. However, the NEA is considering the backup because all these production and imports will not be able to meet the demand.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Ghising also recently visited Begnas lake and Rupa lake of Kaski district which have the potentials for pump storage system for generation of power.&nbsp; &quot;This place is naturally built for pump storage project. We just need to carry out few construction works to complete the project,&quot; Ghising shared.&nbsp;</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The primary research regarding the place has estimated that this project can produce 150-200 MW of electricity. The project has been especially designed to meet the demand of electricity in the peak hours of evening.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">However, the stakeholders are in dilemma thinking whether the generation of hydropower is possible or not as both the lakes are tourism spots and are under conservation areas.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">In addition to this, there is also a possibility of constructing pump storage in the Kulekhani Hydropower Project. &quot;For this, the NEA has also thought of managing a backup battery to collect 200 MW of electricity,&quot; says Prabal Adhikari, Spokesperson of NEA.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">He further shares that the battery needed for the backup is very large and expensive. Furthermore, there will be a big challenge in terms of its location and environmental impact to dispose the battery after its expiry.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Rishi Raj Koirala, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Industry (MoI) and Lumba Dhoj Mahat, Senior Chartered Accountant were the main speakers at the programme. CNI associated industrialists and entrepreneurs discussed on the Act and the impact of the Act on industries and enterprises.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Joint Secretary Koirala said that this kind of discussion can be helpful in complaint hearing of entrepreneurs and for finding ways to solve the problems.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">According to a press statement issued by CNI, Joint Secretary Koirala expressed the view that CNI should give continuation to the interaction and discussion on contemporary issues with the experts from related field, stakeholders and with government officials.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Similarly, Hari Bhakta Sharma, President of CNI said that implementation of an appropriate taxation system will help in expansion of industries, growth in GDP and in creating job opportunities.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The questions raised by the participants of the programme were responded by Joint Secretary Koirala and Senior Chartered Accountant Mahat through a review.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Concluded under the presidency of President Sharma, Vice-president of CNI, members of Governing Council, members of National Council and representatives of the member industrial enterprises had participated in the programme.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">In the meeting, Nepal disseminated information to American side on improvements made in the sectors of promoting investment, custom management and easing businesses. The Nepali side also informed the US representatives about the various technical supports required to forward reform programs on these sectors. Meanwhile, the American side praised the reformation tasks in the sectors of financial and industrial strengthening, promotion of investment, conservation of intellectual assets and easing businesses. Moreover, the US committed to provide technical support to reform these sectors in the meeting.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">In a bid to promote and increase trade of Nepali products in American market, Nepal and America carried out TIFA agreement on 2007. The third meeting of TIFA, which was held in Kathmandu, last week, was led by Naindra Prasad Upadhyay, Commerce Secretary from the Nepal side and by Mark Linscott, assistant trade representative from the US.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Informing that his ministry has aimed at attracting Rs 25,000 billion of FDI within the next 10 years, Joshi expected necessary help from foreign diplomats to meet the target.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Similarly, Minister Joshi informed that the government was working to turn the investment commitment expressed by different countries during investment summit in Kathmandu, into reality. Stating that Nepal is a virgin country for foreign investment, he requested the representatives of diplomatic bodies to lobby for investing in Nepal.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">&ldquo;We have made a lot of improvement in laws,&rdquo; he said, adding, &ldquo;We are trying to bring the remaining policies and laws as soon as possible.&rdquo;</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">It is noted that after the appointment of Joshi as Industry Minister, Special Economic Zone (SEZ) Act, Industrial Entrepreneurship Act and Company Act have already been amended. Similarly, Amendment of Mines and Minerals Regulations and National Intellectual Property Policies have also been issued.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Likewise, the Ministry has constituted a committee for the operation of &lsquo;one window service&rsquo; for facilitating foreign investment. Stating that the investment environment has already been prepared, Minister Joshi clarified that they are trying to develop the country as a new destination for investment. He said, &ldquo;The commitment by all political parties for the economic prosperity in the forthcoming local election is encouraging.&rdquo;</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">In the discussion, ambassadors of various countries said the local level election in time will help bring policy level stability and suggested that the ministry bring the laws on foreign investment, labor and land use and intellectual property.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">&nbsp;Japanese Ambassador Masashi Ogawa pointed out the need to assure that Nepal is an investment-friendly country. Joint Secretary at the Ministry Pradip Kumar Koirala made a presentation on the priorities and target of the Ministry.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">In the total collection of internal revenue, the government has collectd income tax amounted to Rs 95.39 billion. &ldquo;The amount collected is 107 percent of the given target,&rdquo; said Chandrakala Poudel, spokesperson of the department. The income tax category also includes income tax from other resources, rent tax and interest tax.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Similarly, the government has been able to collect 99 percent of VAT amounting to Rs 43.5 billion. The amount collected is increased by 26 percent compared to the corresponding period of last FY. <p style="text-align: justify;">Sharma said that the ministry is consulting with Road Department and NPC to upgrade the Prithwi Highway to four lanes. The government planned to build the four lanes road as the up gradation of the current two lanes road created more chaos and obstruction in various places. &ldquo;The present two-lanes road will be as it is. Additional two lanes will be constructed from Trisuli which can be constructed without road obstruction,&rdquo; he informed. For that matter, the Ministry is lobbying Finance Ministry for budget allocation. Once the budget approves the project, the Ministry will hand over the project to Road Department.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">According to Kulman Ghising, Managing Director of NEA, around 200 MW is needed as a backup to meet the demand. &quot;It is necessary to accumulate the electricity which has remained unused in the passive hours to prepare for backup for the busy hours,&quot; shares Ghising.&nbsp;</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">We have been facing this situation because the electricity imported from India and produced by the private sector have not been able to meet the demand in the peak hour.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Currently, NEA produces 351 MW of electricity and the private sector 155MW during the evening peak hours. To add to this, the country is also importing 369 MW from India. However, the statistics shows that the country&rsquo;s demand is a whopping 1,245 MW daily in the peak hours.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">NEA has been running a power cut for four hours in the evening to manage the electricity during the peak hour. Some power plants developed by NEA including the Chamelia (30 MW) and Kulekhani III (14 MW) and some other projects of private sector are yet to be completed. However, the NEA is considering the backup because all these production and imports will not be able to meet the demand.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Ghising also recently visited Begnas lake and Rupa lake of Kaski district which have the potentials for pump storage system for generation of power.&nbsp; &quot;This place is naturally built for pump storage project. We just need to carry out few construction works to complete the project,&quot; Ghising shared.&nbsp;</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The primary research regarding the place has estimated that this project can produce 150-200 MW of electricity. The project has been especially designed to meet the demand of electricity in the peak hours of evening.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">However, the stakeholders are in dilemma thinking whether the generation of hydropower is possible or not as both the lakes are tourism spots and are under conservation areas.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">In addition to this, there is also a possibility of constructing pump storage in the Kulekhani Hydropower Project. &quot;For this, the NEA has also thought of managing a backup battery to collect 200 MW of electricity,&quot; says Prabal Adhikari, Spokesperson of NEA.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">He further shares that the battery needed for the backup is very large and expensive. Furthermore, there will be a big challenge in terms of its location and environmental impact to dispose the battery after its expiry.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">According to a press statement issued by CNI, Joint Secretary Koirala expressed the view that CNI should give continuation to the interaction and discussion on contemporary issues with the experts from related field, stakeholders and with government officials.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Similarly, Hari Bhakta Sharma, President of CNI said that implementation of an appropriate taxation system will help in expansion of industries, growth in GDP and in creating job opportunities.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The questions raised by the participants of the programme were responded by Joint Secretary Koirala and Senior Chartered Accountant Mahat through a review.</p>

After the third meeting of Trade and Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA) council, the US government urged the government and Nepali traders to fully exploit the Trade Preference Programme.&nbsp; Under the programme, Nepal can export 77 products without any duty to USA.&nbsp; The government of USA, in a bid to support the economic growth of Nepal, after the devastating earthquake, provided duty-free access to 66 products. However, after the third meeting of TIFA, the US added 11 more products to the Nepal Trade Preference Programme.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">In the meeting, Nepal disseminated information to American side on improvements made in the sectors of promoting investment, custom management and easing businesses. The Nepali side also informed the US representatives about the various technical supports required to forward reform programs on these sectors. Meanwhile, the American side praised the reformation tasks in the sectors of financial and industrial strengthening, promotion of investment, conservation of intellectual assets and easing businesses. Moreover, the US committed to provide technical support to reform these sectors in the meeting.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">In a bid to promote and increase trade of Nepali products in American market, Nepal and America carried out TIFA agreement on 2007. The third meeting of TIFA, which was held in Kathmandu, last week, was led by Naindra Prasad Upadhyay, Commerce Secretary from the Nepal side and by Mark Linscott, assistant trade representative from the US.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">&ldquo;We have made a lot of improvement in laws,&rdquo; he said, adding, &ldquo;We are trying to bring the remaining policies and laws as soon as possible.&rdquo;</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">It is noted that after the appointment of Joshi as Industry Minister, Special Economic Zone (SEZ) Act, Industrial Entrepreneurship Act and Company Act have already been amended. Similarly, Amendment of Mines and Minerals Regulations and National Intellectual Property Policies have also been issued.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Likewise, the Ministry has constituted a committee for the operation of &lsquo;one window service&rsquo; for facilitating foreign investment. Stating that the investment environment has already been prepared, Minister Joshi clarified that they are trying to develop the country as a new destination for investment. He said, &ldquo;The commitment by all political parties for the economic prosperity in the forthcoming local election is encouraging.&rdquo;</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">In the discussion, ambassadors of various countries said the local level election in time will help bring policy level stability and suggested that the ministry bring the laws on foreign investment, labor and land use and intellectual property.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">&nbsp;Japanese Ambassador Masashi Ogawa pointed out the need to assure that Nepal is an investment-friendly country. Joint Secretary at the Ministry Pradip Kumar Koirala made a presentation on the priorities and target of the Ministry.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">In the total collection of internal revenue, the government has collectd income tax amounted to Rs 95.39 billion. &ldquo;The amount collected is 107 percent of the given target,&rdquo; said Chandrakala Poudel, spokesperson of the department. The income tax category also includes income tax from other resources, rent tax and interest tax.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Similarly, the government has been able to collect 99 percent of VAT amounting to Rs 43.5 billion. The amount collected is increased by 26 percent compared to the corresponding period of last FY. Likewise, excise duty of Rs 32.36 billion has been collected which is increased by 39 percent compared to the corresponding period of the last FY and 104 percent growth compared to the given target. &nbsp;</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Apart from that, the government has also collected Rs 594.4 million in education service tax which is increased by 31 percent in compared to the corresponding period of last FY and 95 percent of the given target. Likewise, the government has collected Rs 761.1 million in health service tax which is increased by 25 percent compared to corresponding period of last FY and 86 percent of the given target.&nbsp;</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">According to him, only foreign companies could develop prestressed bridge thirty years ago. However, Nepali constructors are capable of building such bridge presently. &ldquo;The government initiated the plan so that to make Nepali constructors capable of building tunnels and make them reliant as Nepal needs to build tunnel-roads in various locations due to its geographical condition,&rdquo; he added.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Sharma said that the ministry is consulting with Road Department and NPC to upgrade the Prithwi Highway to four lanes. The government planned to build the four lanes road as the up gradation of the current two lanes road created more chaos and obstruction in various places. &ldquo;The present two-lanes road will be as it is. Additional two lanes will be constructed from Trisuli which can be constructed without road obstruction,&rdquo; he informed. For that matter, the Ministry is lobbying Finance Ministry for budget allocation. Once the budget approves the project, the Ministry will hand over the project to Road Department.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">According to Kulman Ghising, Managing Director of NEA, around 200 MW is needed as a backup to meet the demand. &quot;It is necessary to accumulate the electricity which has remained unused in the passive hours to prepare for backup for the busy hours,&quot; shares Ghising.&nbsp;</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">We have been facing this situation because the electricity imported from India and produced by the private sector have not been able to meet the demand in the peak hour.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Currently, NEA produces 351 MW of electricity and the private sector 155MW during the evening peak hours. To add to this, the country is also importing 369 MW from India. However, the statistics shows that the country&rsquo;s demand is a whopping 1,245 MW daily in the peak hours.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">NEA has been running a power cut for four hours in the evening to manage the electricity during the peak hour. Some power plants developed by NEA including the Chamelia (30 MW) and Kulekhani III (14 MW) and some other projects of private sector are yet to be completed. However, the NEA is considering the backup because all these production and imports will not be able to meet the demand.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Ghising also recently visited Begnas lake and Rupa lake of Kaski district which have the potentials for pump storage system for generation of power.&nbsp; &quot;This place is naturally built for pump storage project. We just need to carry out few construction works to complete the project,&quot; Ghising shared.&nbsp;</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The primary research regarding the place has estimated that this project can produce 150-200 MW of electricity. The project has been especially designed to meet the demand of electricity in the peak hours of evening.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">However, the stakeholders are in dilemma thinking whether the generation of hydropower is possible or not as both the lakes are tourism spots and are under conservation areas.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">In addition to this, there is also a possibility of constructing pump storage in the Kulekhani Hydropower Project. &quot;For this, the NEA has also thought of managing a backup battery to collect 200 MW of electricity,&quot; says Prabal Adhikari, Spokesperson of NEA.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">He further shares that the battery needed for the backup is very large and expensive. Furthermore, there will be a big challenge in terms of its location and environmental impact to dispose the battery after its expiry.</p>

CNI associated industrialists and entrepreneurs discussed on the Act and the impact of the Act on industries and enterprises.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Joint Secretary Koirala said that this kind of discussion can be helpful in complaint hearing of entrepreneurs and for finding ways to solve the problems.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">According to a press statement issued by CNI, Joint Secretary Koirala expressed the view that CNI should give continuation to the interaction and discussion on contemporary issues with the experts from related field, stakeholders and with government officials.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Similarly, Hari Bhakta Sharma, President of CNI said that implementation of an appropriate taxation system will help in expansion of industries, growth in GDP and in creating job opportunities.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The questions raised by the participants of the programme were responded by Joint Secretary Koirala and Senior Chartered Accountant Mahat through a review.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Concluded under the presidency of President Sharma, Vice-president of CNI, members of Governing Council, members of National Council and representatives of the member industrial enterprises had participated in the programme.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">In a bid to promote and increase trade of Nepali products in American market, Nepal and America carried out TIFA agreement on 2007. <p style="text-align: justify;">Similarly, Minister Joshi informed that the government was working to turn the investment commitment expressed by different countries during investment summit in Kathmandu, into reality. Stating that Nepal is a virgin country for foreign investment, he requested the representatives of diplomatic bodies to lobby for investing in Nepal.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">&ldquo;We have made a lot of improvement in laws,&rdquo; he said, adding, &ldquo;We are trying to bring the remaining policies and laws as soon as possible.&rdquo;</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">It is noted that after the appointment of Joshi as Industry Minister, Special Economic Zone (SEZ) Act, Industrial Entrepreneurship Act and Company Act have already been amended. Similarly, Amendment of Mines and Minerals Regulations and National Intellectual Property Policies have also been issued.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Likewise, the Ministry has constituted a committee for the operation of &lsquo;one window service&rsquo; for facilitating foreign investment. Stating that the investment environment has already been prepared, Minister Joshi clarified that they are trying to develop the country as a new destination for investment. He said, &ldquo;The commitment by all political parties for the economic prosperity in the forthcoming local election is encouraging.&rdquo;</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">In the discussion, ambassadors of various countries said the local level election in time will help bring policy level stability and suggested that the ministry bring the laws on foreign investment, labor and land use and intellectual property.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">&nbsp;Japanese Ambassador Masashi Ogawa pointed out the need to assure that Nepal is an investment-friendly country. Joint Secretary at the Ministry Pradip Kumar Koirala made a presentation on the priorities and target of the Ministry.</p>

The income tax category also includes income tax from other resources, rent tax and interest tax.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Similarly, the government has been able to collect 99 percent of VAT amounting to Rs 43.5 billion. The amount collected is increased by 26 percent compared to the corresponding period of last FY. Likewise, excise duty of Rs 32.36 billion has been collected which is increased by 39 percent compared to the corresponding period of the last FY and 104 percent growth compared to the given target. &nbsp;</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Apart from that, the government has also collected Rs 594.4 million in education service tax which is increased by 31 percent in compared to the corresponding period of last FY and 95 percent of the given target. Likewise, the government has collected Rs 761.1 million in health service tax which is increased by 25 percent compared to corresponding period of last FY and 86 percent of the given target.&nbsp;</p>

Moreover, the customers can get double data volume on purchasing day data pack used between 5 am to 5 pm. Similarly, the customers can get 4 times data volume on purchasing night data pack used for 11 pm to 5 am.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">As per the company, duration of 300MB, 600 MB and 1200 MB data pack will be of 30 days whereas 25 MB and 60 MB data pack will expire after three days of activation. The customers can activate new data pack by dialing *17123# through given instructions, reads a statement. The new data pack will be validated for only 90 days, informed the company.&nbsp;</p>

However, Nepali constructors are capable of building such bridge presently. &ldquo;The government initiated the plan so that to make Nepali constructors capable of building tunnels and make them reliant as Nepal needs to build tunnel-roads in various locations due to its geographical condition,&rdquo; he added.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Sharma said that the ministry is consulting with Road Department and NPC to upgrade the Prithwi Highway to four lanes. The government planned to build the four lanes road as the up gradation of the current two lanes road created more chaos and obstruction in various places. &ldquo;The present two-lanes road will be as it is. Additional two lanes will be constructed from Trisuli which can be constructed without road obstruction,&rdquo; he informed. For that matter, the Ministry is lobbying Finance Ministry for budget allocation. Once the budget approves the project, the Ministry will hand over the project to Road Department.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">According to Kulman Ghising, Managing Director of NEA, around 200 MW is needed as a backup to meet the demand. &quot;It is necessary to accumulate the electricity which has remained unused in the passive hours to prepare for backup for the busy hours,&quot; shares Ghising.&nbsp;</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">We have been facing this situation because the electricity imported from India and produced by the private sector have not been able to meet the demand in the peak hour.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Currently, NEA produces 351 MW of electricity and the private sector 155MW during the evening peak hours. To add to this, the country is also importing 369 MW from India. However, the statistics shows that the country&rsquo;s demand is a whopping 1,245 MW daily in the peak hours.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">NEA has been running a power cut for four hours in the evening to manage the electricity during the peak hour. Some power plants developed by NEA including the Chamelia (30 MW) and Kulekhani III (14 MW) and some other projects of private sector are yet to be completed. However, the NEA is considering the backup because all these production and imports will not be able to meet the demand.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Ghising also recently visited Begnas lake and Rupa lake of Kaski district which have the potentials for pump storage system for generation of power.&nbsp; &quot;This place is naturally built for pump storage project. We just need to carry out few construction works to complete the project,&quot; Ghising shared.&nbsp;</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The primary research regarding the place has estimated that this project can produce 150-200 MW of electricity. The project has been especially designed to meet the demand of electricity in the peak hours of evening.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">However, the stakeholders are in dilemma thinking whether the generation of hydropower is possible or not as both the lakes are tourism spots and are under conservation areas.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">In addition to this, there is also a possibility of constructing pump storage in the Kulekhani Hydropower Project. &quot;For this, the NEA has also thought of managing a backup battery to collect 200 MW of electricity,&quot; says Prabal Adhikari, Spokesperson of NEA.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">He further shares that the battery needed for the backup is very large and expensive. Furthermore, there will be a big challenge in terms of its location and environmental impact to dispose the battery after its expiry.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Joint Secretary Koirala said that this kind of discussion can be helpful in complaint hearing of entrepreneurs and for finding ways to solve the problems.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">According to a press statement issued by CNI, Joint Secretary Koirala expressed the view that CNI should give continuation to the interaction and discussion on contemporary issues with the experts from related field, stakeholders and with government officials.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Similarly, Hari Bhakta Sharma, President of CNI said that implementation of an appropriate taxation system will help in expansion of industries, growth in GDP and in creating job opportunities.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The questions raised by the participants of the programme were responded by Joint Secretary Koirala and Senior Chartered Accountant Mahat through a review.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">It is noted that after the appointment of Joshi as Industry Minister, Special Economic Zone (SEZ) Act, Industrial Entrepreneurship Act and Company Act have already been amended. Similarly, Amendment of Mines and Minerals Regulations and National Intellectual Property Policies have also been issued.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Likewise, the Ministry has constituted a committee for the operation of &lsquo;one window service&rsquo; for facilitating foreign investment. Stating that the investment environment has already been prepared, Minister Joshi clarified that they are trying to develop the country as a new destination for investment. He said, &ldquo;The commitment by all political parties for the economic prosperity in the forthcoming local election is encouraging.&rdquo;</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">In the discussion, ambassadors of various countries said the local level election in time will help bring policy level stability and suggested that the ministry bring the laws on foreign investment, labor and land use and intellectual property.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">In the total collection of internal revenue, the government has collectd income tax amounted to Rs 95.39 billion. &ldquo;The amount collected is 107 percent of the given target,&rdquo; said Chandrakala Poudel, spokesperson of the department. The income tax category also includes income tax from other resources, rent tax and interest tax.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Similarly, the government has been able to collect 99 percent of VAT amounting to Rs 43.5 billion. The amount collected is increased by 26 percent compared to the corresponding period of last FY. Likewise, excise duty of Rs 32.36 billion has been collected which is increased by 39 percent compared to the corresponding period of the last FY and 104 percent growth compared to the given target. &nbsp;</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Apart from that, the government has also collected Rs 594.4 million in education service tax which is increased by 31 percent in compared to the corresponding period of last FY and 95 percent of the given target. Likewise, the government has collected Rs 761.1 million in health service tax which is increased by 25 percent compared to corresponding period of last FY and 86 percent of the given target.&nbsp;</p>

However, Nepali constructors are capable of building such bridge presently. &ldquo;The government initiated the plan so that to make Nepali constructors capable of building tunnels and make them reliant as Nepal needs to build tunnel-roads in various locations due to its geographical condition,&rdquo; he added.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Sharma said that the ministry is consulting with Road Department and NPC to upgrade the Prithwi Highway to four lanes. The government planned to build the four lanes road as the up gradation of the current two lanes road created more chaos and obstruction in various places. &ldquo;The present two-lanes road will be as it is. Additional two lanes will be constructed from Trisuli which can be constructed without road obstruction,&rdquo; he informed. For that matter, the Ministry is lobbying Finance Ministry for budget allocation. Once the budget approves the project, the Ministry will hand over the project to Road Department.</p>
