			'content' => '<p style="text-align: justify;">December 9: Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) is investing Rs 6.49 billion on &#39;A&#39; listed commercial banks, &#39;B&#39; listed national level development banks and &#39;C&#39; listed national level finance companies. The central bank is investing the funds accumulated in its various trusts as fixed deposits (FD) in the aforementioned banks and financial institutions (BFIs) from December 16 2016 to December 15 2017.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The central bank is investing Rs 5.18 billion as FD in &#39;A&#39; listed commercial bank. Similarly, the bank is investing Rs 972 million and Rs 324 million as FD in &#39;B&#39; listed and &#39;C&#39; listed BFIs. The bank has applied 11 conditions to invest the fund in the listed BFIs.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The NRB has issued a notice in which the interested BFIs are asked to submitted a duly sealed price quotation form with the specified amount the BFIs willing to take as FD by December 9 1300 hours. The BFIs willing to take the FD must have come into operation for two years and should have minimum capital fund. The BFIs must fulfil the categories including the non-performing loan should be less than 5 per cent of total loan extension, net liquid assets should meet 20 per cent or more of the total domestic deposits will be eligible. According to NRB, the BFIs must have maintained the loan, domestic deposit and primary capital proportion as per the timely set standard by the central bank.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Similarly, the BFIs earning operating profit in last FY and having real estate investment not exceeding NRB set limit can also participate in the FD plan. However, BFIs leaded by Directors, CEO or Executive Directors against whom NRB has taken action will not get an opportunity to participate.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Similarly, BFIs completing minimum of 6 months from the Prompt Corrective Action taken by NRB can also apply for the deposit. NRB has also set a condition where the BFIs must have issued the shares allocated to general public.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Likewise, the BFIs which are not announced problematic or completed 6 months since announced problem free are also allowed to apply for the fixed deposit of NRB.&nbsp;</p>

He was speaking at the Joint Review of Micro Enterprise Development for Poverty Alleviation (MEDPA) and Micro Enterprise Development Program (MEDEP) held on December 7. He mentioned that it was important create more enterprises to generate employment within the country to reduce foreign employment. &ldquo;We want our youths to move to foreign countries as skilled human resource and experts in different field rather than going to work there as labors,&rdquo; he said. Currently, Nepal has a working population of 48 per cent, and every year, 500,000 youths enter the job market.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Minister Joshi urged Nepali entrepreneurs to focus on utilizing the available resources without giving much concern to the prolonged political instability. &ldquo;Producing quality products and marketing them nationally and internationally will definitely improve the economic condition of the country,&rdquo; he said.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">According to the report unveiled in the programme, the combined efforts of MEDPA and MEDEP have helped increase per capita income by 343.8 per cent from Rs 17,605 to Rs78, 133.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">As per the data, there currently are 115,014 micro entrepreneurs in the country. The report also highlighted the inclusive structure of the number with 70 per cent women, 30 per cent Dalits, 40 per cent indigenous groups and 40 per cent Madheshis.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">&ldquo;The programmes of MEDPA have identified the steps for developing entrepreneurship and market demands in national and international frontiers in 69 districts till now. The organisation also aims to solve the problems of micro enterprises like high interest rates of commercial banks, lack of financial institutions in remote areas and reach to all 75 districts by 2018,&rdquo; said Yam Kumari Khatiwada, Spokesperson at the Ministry of Industry (MOI) said while presenting MEDPA&#39;s progress reviewof the past six years.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">&nbsp;&ldquo;The programme will help in Nepal&rsquo;s goal to reduce poverty and graduate from Least Developed Countries by 2022,&rdquo; said Sophie Kemkhadze, Deputy Country Director of the UNDP, adding, &ldquo;However, the larger industries need to make collaborative efforts to promote the micro enterprises to help in the government&rsquo;s goal.&rdquo;</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Similarly, Ainsley Hemming, Head of Development Cooperation at the Australian Embassy in Nepal further assured Australia&rsquo;s commitment to assist Nepal to achieve its target working closely with the MoI to strengthen and institutionalise micro entrepreneurship development.</p>

			'content' => '<p style="text-align: justify;">December 8<strong>:&nbsp;</strong>Electricity produced from the 3.2MW Daraudi &lsquo;A&rsquo; Hydropower Project located at Mucchowk, Gorkha has been connected to the national grid. The project started its trial production from mid-August. According to Padam Gurung, Director of the project, the commercial production started after supplying the electricity produced in the trial production without charges to Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) for 15 days.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The project&rsquo;s commercial production of electricity started from December 2. However, the project&rsquo;s installed capacity is 6MW. The produced electricity was connected to the central grid after constructing a 19 kilometers transmission line connecting the project site Mucchowk and sub-station at Gorkha Bazzar.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">As per Gurung, the total cost of the project amounted to Rs 1.25 billion which was initially estimated at Rs 940 million. &nbsp;&ldquo;The expenditure and time both increased due to last year&rsquo;s earthquake and Terai unrest,&rdquo; he said. &ldquo;The rise in the cost was due to the increase in the overhead expenditure during the construction period along with the expensive diesel during the border blockade.&rdquo;</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Similarly, channelizing the water through tunnel rather than the canal also contributed to the increase,&rdquo; mentioned Gurung. He said that only 300 trees were cut down instead of the designated 900 while channelising water through the tunnel.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The project with seven promoters has investments from Global IME Bank and Machhapuchre Bank. According to the project&rsquo;s developer Kalika Hydropower, the Daraudi &lsquo;A&rsquo; will float general shares within four months after the completion of the share rating. &nbsp;The construction of Daraudi &lsquo;A&rsquo; concluded in the three years after the commencement of project&rsquo;s development.&nbsp;</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The board has also set standards for the right share or FPO issuing organisation or projects promoted by those organisations. First of all, the organisation must endorsed the clear financial plan and strategies related with the mobilisation of funds accumulated through right share or FPO issuance from the annual general meeting.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Similarly, the board, issuing a statement, has said that the basis of grounds behind the proportion of issuing right shares should be apparent. Moreover, the companies must conduct credit rating after two years of issuing initial public offering. As per the stastistics, mobile phones worth Rs 13.92 billion were imported from China in FY2015/16 out of the total import of Rs 14.23 billion. Last FY saw 4.5 million mobile sets enter the country. According to Amit Agrawal, General Secretary the newly formed Mobile Phone Importers Association, the inflow is due to the fact that most of the major global and regional mobile manufacturers produce their products in China &ldquo;Most of the iPhones and Android phones are produced in China,&rdquo; he says, adding, &ldquo;Brands such as Apple and Samsung are manufacturing their handsets there. Beside this, the market presence of Chinese brands has also increased sharply.&rdquo; &nbsp;</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">According to the statistics, India is the second largest country to export mobile phones in Nepal after China. In FY2015/16, mobile phones of Rs 266.1 million were imported from India accounting 1.86 per cent of the total import. Meanwhile, Nepal also imports mobile phones from Hong Kong, South Korea, United Kingdom and United States. The TEPC statistics shows that Nepal imports cellular devices from 66 different countries.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The demand of mobile phones in Nepal has skyrocketed with the expansion of the mobile service networks in the recent years. According to a Nepal Telecommunications Authority data, 30.3 million SIM cards have been distributed throughout the country by mid-August 2016. On the basis of the Population Census conducted in 2068 BS, the SIM distribution data is 13.46 per cent higher than the total population.&nbsp;</p>

			'content' => '<p style="text-align: justify;">December 9: Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) is investing Rs 6.49 billion on &#39;A&#39; listed commercial banks, &#39;B&#39; listed national level development banks and &#39;C&#39; listed national level finance companies. The central bank is investing the funds accumulated in its various trusts as fixed deposits (FD) in the aforementioned banks and financial institutions (BFIs) from December 16 2016 to December 15 2017.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The central bank is investing Rs 5.18 billion as FD in &#39;A&#39; listed commercial bank. Similarly, the bank is investing Rs 972 million and Rs 324 million as FD in &#39;B&#39; listed and &#39;C&#39; listed BFIs. The bank has applied 11 conditions to invest the fund in the listed BFIs.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The NRB has issued a notice in which the interested BFIs are asked to submitted a duly sealed price quotation form with the specified amount the BFIs willing to take as FD by December 9 1300 hours. The BFIs willing to take the FD must have come into operation for two years and should have minimum capital fund. The BFIs must fulfil the categories including the non-performing loan should be less than 5 per cent of total loan extension, net liquid assets should meet 20 per cent or more of the total domestic deposits will be eligible. According to NRB, the BFIs must have maintained the loan, domestic deposit and primary capital proportion as per the timely set standard by the central bank.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Similarly, the BFIs earning operating profit in last FY and having real estate investment not exceeding NRB set limit can also participate in the FD plan. However, BFIs leaded by Directors, CEO or Executive Directors against whom NRB has taken action will not get an opportunity to participate.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Similarly, BFIs completing minimum of 6 months from the Prompt Corrective Action taken by NRB can also apply for the deposit. NRB has also set a condition where the BFIs must have issued the shares allocated to general public.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Likewise, the BFIs which are not announced problematic or completed 6 months since announced problem free are also allowed to apply for the fixed deposit of NRB.&nbsp;</p>

He mentioned that it was important create more enterprises to generate employment within the country to reduce foreign employment. &ldquo;We want our youths to move to foreign countries as skilled human resource and experts in different field rather than going to work there as labors,&rdquo; he said. Currently, Nepal has a working population of 48 per cent, and every year, 500,000 youths enter the job market.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Minister Joshi urged Nepali entrepreneurs to focus on utilizing the available resources without giving much concern to the prolonged political instability. &ldquo;Producing quality products and marketing them nationally and internationally will definitely improve the economic condition of the country,&rdquo; he said.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">According to the report unveiled in the programme, the combined efforts of MEDPA and MEDEP have helped increase per capita income by 343.8 per cent from Rs 17,605 to Rs78, 133.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">As per the data, there currently are 115,014 micro entrepreneurs in the country. The report also highlighted the inclusive structure of the number with 70 per cent women, 30 per cent Dalits, 40 per cent indigenous groups and 40 per cent Madheshis.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">&ldquo;The programmes of MEDPA have identified the steps for developing entrepreneurship and market demands in national and international frontiers in 69 districts till now. The organisation also aims to solve the problems of micro enterprises like high interest rates of commercial banks, lack of financial institutions in remote areas and reach to all 75 districts by 2018,&rdquo; said Yam Kumari Khatiwada, Spokesperson at the Ministry of Industry (MOI) said while presenting MEDPA&#39;s progress reviewof the past six years.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">&nbsp;&ldquo;The programme will help in Nepal&rsquo;s goal to reduce poverty and graduate from Least Developed Countries by 2022,&rdquo; said Sophie Kemkhadze, Deputy Country Director of the UNDP, adding, &ldquo;However, the larger industries need to make collaborative efforts to promote the micro enterprises to help in the government&rsquo;s goal.&rdquo;</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Similarly, Ainsley Hemming, Head of Development Cooperation at the Australian Embassy in Nepal further assured Australia&rsquo;s commitment to assist Nepal to achieve its target working closely with the MoI to strengthen and institutionalise micro entrepreneurship development.</p>

The project started its trial production from mid-August. According to Padam Gurung, Director of the project, the commercial production started after supplying the electricity produced in the trial production without charges to Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) for 15 days.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The project&rsquo;s commercial production of electricity started from December 2. However, the project&rsquo;s installed capacity is 6MW. The produced electricity was connected to the central grid after constructing a 19 kilometers transmission line connecting the project site Mucchowk and sub-station at Gorkha Bazzar.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">As per Gurung, the total cost of the project amounted to Rs 1.25 billion which was initially estimated at Rs 940 million. &nbsp;&ldquo;The expenditure and time both increased due to last year&rsquo;s earthquake and Terai unrest,&rdquo; he said. &ldquo;The rise in the cost was due to the increase in the overhead expenditure during the construction period along with the expensive diesel during the border blockade.&rdquo;</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Similarly, channelizing the water through tunnel rather than the canal also contributed to the increase,&rdquo; mentioned Gurung. He said that only 300 trees were cut down instead of the designated 900 while channelising water through the tunnel.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The project with seven promoters has investments from Global IME Bank and Machhapuchre Bank. According to the project&rsquo;s developer Kalika Hydropower, the Daraudi &lsquo;A&rsquo; will float general shares within four months after the completion of the share rating. &nbsp;The construction of Daraudi &lsquo;A&rsquo; concluded in the three years after the commencement of project&rsquo;s development.&nbsp;</p>

According to Amit Agrawal, General Secretary the newly formed Mobile Phone Importers Association, the inflow is due to the fact that most of the major global and regional mobile manufacturers produce their products in China &ldquo;Most of the iPhones and Android phones are produced in China,&rdquo; he says, adding, &ldquo;Brands such as Apple and Samsung are manufacturing their handsets there. Beside this, the market presence of Chinese brands has also increased sharply.&rdquo; &nbsp;</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">According to the statistics, India is the second largest country to export mobile phones in Nepal after China. In FY2015/16, mobile phones of Rs 266.1 million were imported from India accounting 1.86 per cent of the total import. Meanwhile, Nepal also imports mobile phones from Hong Kong, South Korea, United Kingdom and United States. The TEPC statistics shows that Nepal imports cellular devices from 66 different countries.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The demand of mobile phones in Nepal has skyrocketed with the expansion of the mobile service networks in the recent years. According to a Nepal Telecommunications Authority data, 30.3 million SIM cards have been distributed throughout the country by mid-August 2016. On the basis of the Population Census conducted in 2068 BS, the SIM distribution data is 13.46 per cent higher than the total population.&nbsp;</p>

			'content' => '<p style="text-align: justify;">December 9: Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) is investing Rs 6.49 billion on &#39;A&#39; listed commercial banks, &#39;B&#39; listed national level development banks and &#39;C&#39; listed national level finance companies. The central bank is investing the funds accumulated in its various trusts as fixed deposits (FD) in the aforementioned banks and financial institutions (BFIs) from December 16 2016 to December 15 2017.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The central bank is investing Rs 5.18 billion as FD in &#39;A&#39; listed commercial bank. Similarly, the bank is investing Rs 972 million and Rs 324 million as FD in &#39;B&#39; listed and &#39;C&#39; listed BFIs. The bank has applied 11 conditions to invest the fund in the listed BFIs.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The NRB has issued a notice in which the interested BFIs are asked to submitted a duly sealed price quotation form with the specified amount the BFIs willing to take as FD by December 9 1300 hours. The BFIs willing to take the FD must have come into operation for two years and should have minimum capital fund. The BFIs must fulfil the categories including the non-performing loan should be less than 5 per cent of total loan extension, net liquid assets should meet 20 per cent or more of the total domestic deposits will be eligible. According to NRB, the BFIs must have maintained the loan, domestic deposit and primary capital proportion as per the timely set standard by the central bank.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Similarly, the BFIs earning operating profit in last FY and having real estate investment not exceeding NRB set limit can also participate in the FD plan. However, BFIs leaded by Directors, CEO or Executive Directors against whom NRB has taken action will not get an opportunity to participate.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Similarly, BFIs completing minimum of 6 months from the Prompt Corrective Action taken by NRB can also apply for the deposit. NRB has also set a condition where the BFIs must have issued the shares allocated to general public.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Likewise, the BFIs which are not announced problematic or completed 6 months since announced problem free are also allowed to apply for the fixed deposit of NRB.&nbsp;</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Minister Joshi urged Nepali entrepreneurs to focus on utilizing the available resources without giving much concern to the prolonged political instability. &ldquo;Producing quality products and marketing them nationally and internationally will definitely improve the economic condition of the country,&rdquo; he said.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">According to the report unveiled in the programme, the combined efforts of MEDPA and MEDEP have helped increase per capita income by 343.8 per cent from Rs 17,605 to Rs78, 133.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">As per the data, there currently are 115,014 micro entrepreneurs in the country. The report also highlighted the inclusive structure of the number with 70 per cent women, 30 per cent Dalits, 40 per cent indigenous groups and 40 per cent Madheshis.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">&ldquo;The programmes of MEDPA have identified the steps for developing entrepreneurship and market demands in national and international frontiers in 69 districts till now. The organisation also aims to solve the problems of micro enterprises like high interest rates of commercial banks, lack of financial institutions in remote areas and reach to all 75 districts by 2018,&rdquo; said Yam Kumari Khatiwada, Spokesperson at the Ministry of Industry (MOI) said while presenting MEDPA&#39;s progress reviewof the past six years.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">&nbsp;&ldquo;The programme will help in Nepal&rsquo;s goal to reduce poverty and graduate from Least Developed Countries by 2022,&rdquo; said Sophie Kemkhadze, Deputy Country Director of the UNDP, adding, &ldquo;However, the larger industries need to make collaborative efforts to promote the micro enterprises to help in the government&rsquo;s goal.&rdquo;</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Similarly, Ainsley Hemming, Head of Development Cooperation at the Australian Embassy in Nepal further assured Australia&rsquo;s commitment to assist Nepal to achieve its target working closely with the MoI to strengthen and institutionalise micro entrepreneurship development.</p>

The project started its trial production from mid-August. According to Padam Gurung, Director of the project, the commercial production started after supplying the electricity produced in the trial production without charges to Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) for 15 days.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The project&rsquo;s commercial production of electricity started from December 2. However, the project&rsquo;s installed capacity is 6MW. The produced electricity was connected to the central grid after constructing a 19 kilometers transmission line connecting the project site Mucchowk and sub-station at Gorkha Bazzar.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">As per Gurung, the total cost of the project amounted to Rs 1.25 billion which was initially estimated at Rs 940 million. &nbsp;&ldquo;The expenditure and time both increased due to last year&rsquo;s earthquake and Terai unrest,&rdquo; he said. &ldquo;The rise in the cost was due to the increase in the overhead expenditure during the construction period along with the expensive diesel during the border blockade.&rdquo;</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Similarly, channelizing the water through tunnel rather than the canal also contributed to the increase,&rdquo; mentioned Gurung. He said that only 300 trees were cut down instead of the designated 900 while channelising water through the tunnel.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The project with seven promoters has investments from Global IME Bank and Machhapuchre Bank. According to the project&rsquo;s developer Kalika Hydropower, the Daraudi &lsquo;A&rsquo; will float general shares within four months after the completion of the share rating. &nbsp;The construction of Daraudi &lsquo;A&rsquo; concluded in the three years after the commencement of project&rsquo;s development.&nbsp;</p>

According to Amit Agrawal, General Secretary the newly formed Mobile Phone Importers Association, the inflow is due to the fact that most of the major global and regional mobile manufacturers produce their products in China &ldquo;Most of the iPhones and Android phones are produced in China,&rdquo; he says, adding, &ldquo;Brands such as Apple and Samsung are manufacturing their handsets there. Beside this, the market presence of Chinese brands has also increased sharply.&rdquo; &nbsp;</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">According to the statistics, India is the second largest country to export mobile phones in Nepal after China. In FY2015/16, mobile phones of Rs 266.1 million were imported from India accounting 1.86 per cent of the total import. Meanwhile, Nepal also imports mobile phones from Hong Kong, South Korea, United Kingdom and United States. The TEPC statistics shows that Nepal imports cellular devices from 66 different countries.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The demand of mobile phones in Nepal has skyrocketed with the expansion of the mobile service networks in the recent years. According to a Nepal Telecommunications Authority data, 30.3 million SIM cards have been distributed throughout the country by mid-August 2016. 			'content' => '<p style="text-align: justify;">December 9: Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) is investing Rs 6.49 billion on &#39;A&#39; listed commercial banks, &#39;B&#39; listed national level development banks and &#39;C&#39; listed national level finance companies. The central bank is investing the funds accumulated in its various trusts as fixed deposits (FD) in the aforementioned banks and financial institutions (BFIs) from December 16 2016 to December 15 2017.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The central bank is investing Rs 5.18 billion as FD in &#39;A&#39; listed commercial bank. Similarly, the bank is investing Rs 972 million and Rs 324 million as FD in &#39;B&#39; listed and &#39;C&#39; listed BFIs. The bank has applied 11 conditions to invest the fund in the listed BFIs.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The NRB has issued a notice in which the interested BFIs are asked to submitted a duly sealed price quotation form with the specified amount the BFIs willing to take as FD by December 9 1300 hours. The BFIs willing to take the FD must have come into operation for two years and should have minimum capital fund. The BFIs must fulfil the categories including the non-performing loan should be less than 5 per cent of total loan extension, net liquid assets should meet 20 per cent or more of the total domestic deposits will be eligible. According to NRB, the BFIs must have maintained the loan, domestic deposit and primary capital proportion as per the timely set standard by the central bank.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Similarly, the BFIs earning operating profit in last FY and having real estate investment not exceeding NRB set limit can also participate in the FD plan. However, BFIs leaded by Directors, CEO or Executive Directors against whom NRB has taken action will not get an opportunity to participate.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Similarly, BFIs completing minimum of 6 months from the Prompt Corrective Action taken by NRB can also apply for the deposit. NRB has also set a condition where the BFIs must have issued the shares allocated to general public.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Likewise, the BFIs which are not announced problematic or completed 6 months since announced problem free are also allowed to apply for the fixed deposit of NRB.&nbsp;</p>

He was speaking at the Joint Review of Micro Enterprise Development for Poverty Alleviation (MEDPA) and Micro Enterprise Development Program (MEDEP) held on December 7. He mentioned that it was important create more enterprises to generate employment within the country to reduce foreign employment. &ldquo;We want our youths to move to foreign countries as skilled human resource and experts in different field rather than going to work there as labors,&rdquo; he said. Currently, Nepal has a working population of 48 per cent, and every year, 500,000 youths enter the job market.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Minister Joshi urged Nepali entrepreneurs to focus on utilizing the available resources without giving much concern to the prolonged political instability. &ldquo;Producing quality products and marketing them nationally and internationally will definitely improve the economic condition of the country,&rdquo; he said.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">According to the report unveiled in the programme, the combined efforts of MEDPA and MEDEP have helped increase per capita income by 343.8 per cent from Rs 17,605 to Rs78, 133.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">As per the data, there currently are 115,014 micro entrepreneurs in the country. The report also highlighted the inclusive structure of the number with 70 per cent women, 30 per cent Dalits, 40 per cent indigenous groups and 40 per cent Madheshis.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">&ldquo;The programmes of MEDPA have identified the steps for developing entrepreneurship and market demands in national and international frontiers in 69 districts till now. The organisation also aims to solve the problems of micro enterprises like high interest rates of commercial banks, lack of financial institutions in remote areas and reach to all 75 districts by 2018,&rdquo; said Yam Kumari Khatiwada, Spokesperson at the Ministry of Industry (MOI) said while presenting MEDPA&#39;s progress reviewof the past six years.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">&nbsp;&ldquo;The programme will help in Nepal&rsquo;s goal to reduce poverty and graduate from Least Developed Countries by 2022,&rdquo; said Sophie Kemkhadze, Deputy Country Director of the UNDP, adding, &ldquo;However, the larger industries need to make collaborative efforts to promote the micro enterprises to help in the government&rsquo;s goal.&rdquo;</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Similarly, Ainsley Hemming, Head of Development Cooperation at the Australian Embassy in Nepal further assured Australia&rsquo;s commitment to assist Nepal to achieve its target working closely with the MoI to strengthen and institutionalise micro entrepreneurship development.</p>

			'content' => '<p style="text-align: justify;">December 8<strong>:&nbsp;</strong>Electricity produced from the 3.2MW Daraudi &lsquo;A&rsquo; Hydropower Project located at Mucchowk, Gorkha has been connected to the national grid. The project started its trial production from mid-August. According to Padam Gurung, Director of the project, the commercial production started after supplying the electricity produced in the trial production without charges to Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) for 15 days.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The project&rsquo;s commercial production of electricity started from December 2. However, the project&rsquo;s installed capacity is 6MW. The produced electricity was connected to the central grid after constructing a 19 kilometers transmission line connecting the project site Mucchowk and sub-station at Gorkha Bazzar.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">As per Gurung, the total cost of the project amounted to Rs 1.25 billion which was initially estimated at Rs 940 million. &nbsp;&ldquo;The expenditure and time both increased due to last year&rsquo;s earthquake and Terai unrest,&rdquo; he said. &ldquo;The rise in the cost was due to the increase in the overhead expenditure during the construction period along with the expensive diesel during the border blockade.&rdquo;</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Similarly, channelizing the water through tunnel rather than the canal also contributed to the increase,&rdquo; mentioned Gurung. He said that only 300 trees were cut down instead of the designated 900 while channelising water through the tunnel.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The project with seven promoters has investments from Global IME Bank and Machhapuchre Bank. According to the project&rsquo;s developer Kalika Hydropower, the Daraudi &lsquo;A&rsquo; will float general shares within four months after the completion of the share rating. &nbsp;The construction of Daraudi &lsquo;A&rsquo; concluded in the three years after the commencement of project&rsquo;s development.&nbsp;</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The board has also set standards for the right share or FPO issuing organisation or projects promoted by those organisations. First of all, the organisation must endorsed the clear financial plan and strategies related with the mobilisation of funds accumulated through right share or FPO issuance from the annual general meeting.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Similarly, the board, issuing a statement, has said that the basis of grounds behind the proportion of issuing right shares should be apparent. Moreover, the companies must conduct credit rating after two years of issuing initial public offering. According to a Trade and Export Promotion Center (TEPC) data, 98 per cent of the mobile handsets are exported from China while the remaining 2.18 phones come from other countries. As per the stastistics, mobile phones worth Rs 13.92 billion were imported from China in FY2015/16 out of the total import of Rs 14.23 billion. Last FY saw 4.5 million mobile sets enter the country. According to Amit Agrawal, General Secretary the newly formed Mobile Phone Importers Association, the inflow is due to the fact that most of the major global and regional mobile manufacturers produce their products in China &ldquo;Most of the iPhones and Android phones are produced in China,&rdquo; he says, adding, &ldquo;Brands such as Apple and Samsung are manufacturing their handsets there. Beside this, the market presence of Chinese brands has also increased sharply.&rdquo; &nbsp;</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">According to the statistics, India is the second largest country to export mobile phones in Nepal after China. In FY2015/16, mobile phones of Rs 266.1 million were imported from India accounting 1.86 per cent of the total import. Meanwhile, Nepal also imports mobile phones from Hong Kong, South Korea, United Kingdom and United States. The TEPC statistics shows that Nepal imports cellular devices from 66 different countries.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The demand of mobile phones in Nepal has skyrocketed with the expansion of the mobile service networks in the recent years. According to a Nepal Telecommunications Authority data, 30.3 million SIM cards have been distributed throughout the country by mid-August 2016. On the basis of the Population Census conducted in 2068 BS, the SIM distribution data is 13.46 per cent higher than the total population.&nbsp;</p>
