<p>Secretary Neupane pointed out the need of branding Nepali tourism in order to promote tourism. He added that the government will now onwards keep record of tourists visiting Nepal from land route.</p>

<p>Nepal Tourism Board&rsquo;s CEO Deepak Raj Joshi says that various promotional activities done within the country and outside have helped in increasing the number of tourists.</p>

<p>He claimed that the lens produced by the hospital are considered among the best in the world.</p>

<p>The hospital had exported 263,000 pairs of lens in the year 2016. The number of lens the hospital exported in 2015 was 158,000 and it was 219,000 in 2014. At present, 60 percent of lens manufactured by the hospital are exported, according to Bania.</p>

<p>&ldquo;It is a matter of pride that Nepal has been exporting lens to more than 50 countries at a time when the country is importing every other essentials,&rdquo; said Bania.</p>

<p>According to the hospital&rsquo;s marketing manager Santosh Kumar Sharma, most of the lens are sold to countries like China, Pakistan, South Africa, Cambodia, Thailand, Sri Lanka and Vietnam.</p>

<p>&ldquo;We are preparing to enhance our capacity as there has been an increase in demand for our products,&rdquo; said Sharma.</p>

<p>Tilganga Eye Hospital has been manufacturing two types of intraocular lens &ndash; PMMA and foldable lenses. PMMA lens are prepared using old technology while the foldable lens are made using modern technology, informed Sharma. As the eye power differs from person to person, the hospital has to manufacture 100 different sub-categories of lens under these two categories.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Ministry of Agriculture Development has set a target to make the country self-reliant on fruits by fiscal year 2082/83 BS. However, a recent survey conducted by the Ministry of Supplies shows that Nepal is unlikely to meet the target within the timeframe.</p>

<p>The survey report has estimated that the total demand of the country for fruits will be 276,800 metric tons by FY 2082/83. However, the report states that the production of fruits within the country will be only 88,000 metric tons, informed a source at the Ministry of Supplies.</p>

<p>According to the report, the demand for fruits in tarai alone will be 139,129 metric tons by FY 2082/83 while the production will be 58,208 metric tons. Likewise, it is estimated that the demand for fruits will be 124,596 metric tons in the hill region but the total production will be just 11,709.</p>

<p>However, the mountainous region of Nepal will be self-reliant on fruit production by 2082/83. According to the report, the demand for fruits in the mountainous region will be 13,029 metric tons while the production is estimated to be 18,600 metric tons.</p>

<p>The ministry made such projection upon studying the demand and supply conditions of the last five years in five different parts of the country.</p>

While Rajan Sharma as freight businessperson talked more from the viewpoint of connectivity, Dr Bishwo Paudel linked this initiative with historical Nepal-China relation, reads a statement issued by Kusom.&nbsp; Dr Kalyan Raj Sharma gave a more general perspective of Nepal and china relation on this topic.</p>

<p>The hospital had exported 263,000 pairs of lens in the year 2016. The number of lens the hospital exported in 2015 was 158,000 and it was 219,000 in 2014. At present, 60 percent of lens manufactured by the hospital are exported, according to Bania.</p>

<p>&ldquo;It is a matter of pride that Nepal has been exporting lens to more than 50 countries at a time when the country is importing every other essentials,&rdquo; said Bania.</p>

<p>According to the hospital&rsquo;s marketing manager Santosh Kumar Sharma, most of the lens are sold to countries like China, Pakistan, South Africa, Cambodia, Thailand, Sri Lanka and Vietnam.</p>

<p>&ldquo;We are preparing to enhance our capacity as there has been an increase in demand for our products,&rdquo; said Sharma.</p>

<p>Tilganga Eye Hospital has been manufacturing two types of intraocular lens &ndash; PMMA and foldable lenses. PMMA lens are prepared using old technology while the foldable lens are made using modern technology, informed Sharma. As the eye power differs from person to person, the hospital has to manufacture 100 different sub-categories of lens under these two categories.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Ministry of Agriculture Development has set a target to make the country self-reliant on fruits by fiscal year 2082/83 BS. However, a recent survey conducted by the Ministry of Supplies shows that Nepal is unlikely to meet the target within the timeframe.</p>

<p>The survey report has estimated that the total demand of the country for fruits will be 276,800 metric tons by FY 2082/83. However, the report states that the production of fruits within the country will be only 88,000 metric tons, informed a source at the Ministry of Supplies.</p>

<p>According to the report, the demand for fruits in tarai alone will be 139,129 metric tons by FY 2082/83 while the production will be 58,208 metric tons. Likewise, it is estimated that the demand for fruits will be 124,596 metric tons in the hill region but the total production will be just 11,709.</p>

<p>However, the mountainous region of Nepal will be self-reliant on fruit production by 2082/83. According to the report, the demand for fruits in the mountainous region will be 13,029 metric tons while the production is estimated to be 18,600 metric tons.</p>

<p>The ministry made such projection upon studying the demand and supply conditions of the last five years in five different parts of the country.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, Yam Kumari Khatiwada, secretary at the Ministry of Industry (MoI), informed that the government has been working to make investment-friendly policies. She also added that the MoI will work with the private sector to make appropriate policies for the industrial sector to grow.</p>

<p>Secretary Neupane pointed out the need of branding Nepali tourism in order to promote tourism. He added that the government will now onwards keep record of tourists visiting Nepal from land route.</p>

<p>Nepal Tourism Board&rsquo;s CEO Deepak Raj Joshi says that various promotional activities done within the country and outside have helped in increasing the number of tourists.</p>

<p>Nepal&rsquo;s tourism industry in back on track at a time when tourism entrepreneurs were struggling for survival instead of working to revive the industry. &nbsp;</p>

<p>The hospital decided to increase the production of lens due to increase in demand from foreign countries, informed Bhagirath Bania, administration chief of the hospital.</p>

<p>He claimed that the lens produced by the hospital are considered among the best in the world.</p>

<p>The hospital had exported 263,000 pairs of lens in the year 2016. The number of lens the hospital exported in 2015 was 158,000 and it was 219,000 in 2014. At present, 60 percent of lens manufactured by the hospital are exported, according to Bania.</p>

<p>&ldquo;It is a matter of pride that Nepal has been exporting lens to more than 50 countries at a time when the country is importing every other essentials,&rdquo; said Bania.</p>

<p>According to the hospital&rsquo;s marketing manager Santosh Kumar Sharma, most of the lens are sold to countries like China, Pakistan, South Africa, Cambodia, Thailand, Sri Lanka and Vietnam.</p>

<p>&ldquo;We are preparing to enhance our capacity as there has been an increase in demand for our products,&rdquo; said Sharma.</p>

<p>Tilganga Eye Hospital has been manufacturing two types of intraocular lens &ndash; PMMA and foldable lenses. PMMA lens are prepared using old technology while the foldable lens are made using modern technology, informed Sharma. As the eye power differs from person to person, the hospital has to manufacture 100 different sub-categories of lens under these two categories.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Ministry of Agriculture Development has set a target to make the country self-reliant on fruits by fiscal year 2082/83 BS. However, a recent survey conducted by the Ministry of Supplies shows that Nepal is unlikely to meet the target within the timeframe.</p>

<p>The survey report has estimated that the total demand of the country for fruits will be 276,800 metric tons by FY 2082/83. However, the report states that the production of fruits within the country will be only 88,000 metric tons, informed a source at the Ministry of Supplies.</p>

<p>According to the report, the demand for fruits in tarai alone will be 139,129 metric tons by FY 2082/83 while the production will be 58,208 metric tons. Likewise, it is estimated that the demand for fruits will be 124,596 metric tons in the hill region but the total production will be just 11,709.</p>

<p>However, the mountainous region of Nepal will be self-reliant on fruit production by 2082/83. According to the report, the demand for fruits in the mountainous region will be 13,029 metric tons while the production is estimated to be 18,600 metric tons.</p>

<p>The ministry made such projection upon studying the demand and supply conditions of the last five years in five different parts of the country.</p>

<p>The hospital had exported 263,000 pairs of lens in the year 2016. The number of lens the hospital exported in 2015 was 158,000 and it was 219,000 in 2014. At present, 60 percent of lens manufactured by the hospital are exported, according to Bania.</p>

<p>&ldquo;It is a matter of pride that Nepal has been exporting lens to more than 50 countries at a time when the country is importing every other essentials,&rdquo; said Bania.</p>

<p>According to the hospital&rsquo;s marketing manager Santosh Kumar Sharma, most of the lens are sold to countries like China, Pakistan, South Africa, Cambodia, Thailand, Sri Lanka and Vietnam.</p>

<p>&ldquo;We are preparing to enhance our capacity as there has been an increase in demand for our products,&rdquo; said Sharma.</p>

<p>Tilganga Eye Hospital has been manufacturing two types of intraocular lens &ndash; PMMA and foldable lenses. PMMA lens are prepared using old technology while the foldable lens are made using modern technology, informed Sharma. <p>The survey report has estimated that the total demand of the country for fruits will be 276,800 metric tons by FY 2082/83. However, the report states that the production of fruits within the country will be only 88,000 metric tons, informed a source at the Ministry of Supplies.</p>

<p>According to the report, the demand for fruits in tarai alone will be 139,129 metric tons by FY 2082/83 while the production will be 58,208 metric tons. Likewise, it is estimated that the demand for fruits will be 124,596 metric tons in the hill region but the total production will be just 11,709.</p>

<p>However, the mountainous region of Nepal will be self-reliant on fruit production by 2082/83. According to the report, the demand for fruits in the mountainous region will be 13,029 metric tons while the production is estimated to be 18,600 metric tons.</p>

<p>The ministry made such projection upon studying the demand and supply conditions of the last five years in five different parts of the country.</p>

<p>Experts from various fields in the Nepali economy discussed about the ambitious project of Chinese President Xi Xinping and how Nepal as a part of this initiative can benefit from it during the Kusom Conclave.</p>

<p>The one-day event was organized with two thematic presentations, followed by panel discussion on the same topics. The thematic presenters Mitra Bandhu Paudel (principal, LACM) and Dr Yubraj Sangraula (former attorney general) made presentations on the concept of Belt and Road Initiative and what it meant for Nepal. On the base of this presentation, the panelist of three presenters that included Rajan Sharma (president, Nepal Freight Forwarder&rsquo;s Association) , Bishwo Paudel (senior economist with the National Planning Commission) and Dr Kalyan Raj Sharma (president, Nepal China Friendship Forum) discussed on the various aspects of this initiative. While Rajan Sharma as freight businessperson talked more from the viewpoint of connectivity, Dr Bishwo Paudel linked this initiative with historical Nepal-China relation, reads a statement issued by Kusom.&nbsp; Dr Kalyan Raj Sharma gave a more general perspective of Nepal and china relation on this topic.</p>

<p>&lsquo;Kusom Conclave&rsquo; was the second day of the three-day annual mega festival of Kusom where students focus on collaborating with the outside world of academia.</p>
