<p>The three-day forum brings together representatives both from the government and non-governmental entities from the member states of SAARC as well as from regional and international organizations. It will conclude on August 30.</p>

<p>Addressing the inaugural session of the forum, SAARC Secretary General Amjad Hussain B Sial said, &ldquo;South Asia is home to around a quarter of the global population, majority of whom live in the rural areas and depend on natural resources like land, freshwater, coastal fisheries, and forests. Much of the agricultural production in the region is undertaken by smallholders with very small landholdings, while women play a significant role in agriculture.&rdquo;</p>

<p>He added that in the context of diminishing farm sizes, sustainable Family Farmers&rsquo; Cooperatives can play an instrumental role in achieving food security, improving nutrition and developing value chain, eventually contributing to poverty alleviation and ending hunger.</p>

<p>Referring to the SAARC Agriculture Vision 2020 adopted by the SAARC agriculture ministers in 2008, the secretary general said, &ldquo;Small-sized farms in South Asia face serious constraints in adopting modern technology and in marketing their produce. To some extent, the size disadvantage can be obviated through contract and cooperative farming.&rdquo;</p>

<p>In concluding his remarks, Sial said, &ldquo;Agricultural cooperatives can be an effective instrument in tackling the formidable challenge of poverty in the SAARC region. Reaching out to the marginalized segments of the society, cooperatives can help in employment generation by encouraging small and medium enterprises in communities. Women and the vibrant youth population, with proper awareness and education on agriculture cooperatives, could also be utilized in the poverty eradication programmes in the region.&rdquo;</p>

<p>The organization hosted a dinner to acknowledge the contributions made by various institutions for their supportive role. Much of the agricultural production in the region is undertaken by smallholders with very small landholdings, while women play a significant role in agriculture.&rdquo;</p>

<p>He added that in the context of diminishing farm sizes, sustainable Family Farmers&rsquo; Cooperatives can play an instrumental role in achieving food security, improving nutrition and developing value chain, eventually contributing to poverty alleviation and ending hunger.</p>

<p>Referring to the SAARC Agriculture Vision 2020 adopted by the SAARC agriculture ministers in 2008, the secretary general said, &ldquo;Small-sized farms in South Asia face serious constraints in adopting modern technology and in marketing their produce. To some extent, the size disadvantage can be obviated through contract and cooperative farming.&rdquo;</p>

<p>In concluding his remarks, Sial said, &ldquo;Agricultural cooperatives can be an effective instrument in tackling the formidable challenge of poverty in the SAARC region. Reaching out to the marginalized segments of the society, cooperatives can help in employment generation by encouraging small and medium enterprises in communities. Women and the vibrant youth population, with proper awareness and education on agriculture cooperatives, could also be utilized in the poverty eradication programmes in the region.&rdquo;</p>

<p>Teach for Nepal movement was launched in 2013 to address educational inequality in Nepal. According to the organization, one of its first initiatives has been to establish a program to recruit high achieving graduates and young professionals into teaching fellowship.</p>

<p>&ldquo;This initial Fellowship provides an initial intensive residential training followed by two years on-the-job training for new fellows in the classroom. Now in its sixth year, the movement has achieved support from various banks, corporations, and local governments. The movement has shown strong results based on a number of assessments,&rdquo; Teach for Nepal said in a statement.</p>

<p>The organization hosted a dinner to acknowledge the contributions made by various institutions for their supportive role. Those institutions include HH Bajaj, Nepal Investment Bank, Surya Nepal Pvt Ltd, Everest Bank, Nepal Bangladesh Bank, Machhapuchchhre Bank, Agricultural Development Bank, Laxmi Bank, Sanima Bank and Panchakanya Group.</p>

<p>&ldquo;In the last six years we have been able to create amazing impacts in the children&#39;s education with the help of various corporate partners and individual donors,&quot; said Shisir Khanal, CEO of Teach for Nepal.&nbsp; &quot;In the coming years, we look forward to serving an additional number of schools and continue to work in partnership with the government, schools, corporate houses and our supporters to help reduce educational inequality in Nepal.&rdquo;</p>

Much of the agricultural production in the region is undertaken by smallholders with very small landholdings, while women play a significant role in agriculture.&rdquo;</p>

<p>He added that in the context of diminishing farm sizes, sustainable Family Farmers&rsquo; Cooperatives can play an instrumental role in achieving food security, improving nutrition and developing value chain, eventually contributing to poverty alleviation and ending hunger.</p>

<p>Referring to the SAARC Agriculture Vision 2020 adopted by the SAARC agriculture ministers in 2008, the secretary general said, &ldquo;Small-sized farms in South Asia face serious constraints in adopting modern technology and in marketing their produce. To some extent, the size disadvantage can be obviated through contract and cooperative farming.&rdquo;</p>

<p>In concluding his remarks, Sial said, &ldquo;Agricultural cooperatives can be an effective instrument in tackling the formidable challenge of poverty in the SAARC region. Reaching out to the marginalized segments of the society, cooperatives can help in employment generation by encouraging small and medium enterprises in communities. Women and the vibrant youth population, with proper awareness and education on agriculture cooperatives, could also be utilized in the poverty eradication programmes in the region.&rdquo;</p>

<p>The bank has agreed to provide finance facility with nominal interest rate and ten-year payback duration to the individuals willing to buy Datsun and Nissan car.</p>

<p>Rabina Desraj Shrestha, assistant deputy CEO of Mega Bank, and Gyanendra Chand, managing director of Pioneer Moto Corps, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations amid a recent function.</p>

<p>According to the agreement, individuals can now procure any model of Datsun and Nissan cars available at Pioneer Moto Corps with 35 percent down payment and monthly installment of just Rs 12,999.</p>

<p>The bank in a statement informed that it will finalize its decision of providing loan within 24 hours of staring the process of loan procurement under the agreement. The loan will be granted within a week&rsquo;s duration by the bank.</p>

<p>Mega Bank recently has signed similar agreement with Narayani Auto Business, the authorized distributer of Suzuki vehicles in Nepal. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

			'content' => '<p>August 29: The First SAARC Agri Cooperative Business Forum kicked off in Kathmandu on Tuesday, August 28. Devoted to the theme, Organizing and Strengthening Family Farmers&rsquo; Cooperatives to attain SDG-1 and SDG-2 in South Asia, the forum was co-organized by Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and Asian Farmers&rsquo; Association (AFA) with the support from International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). &nbsp;</p>

<p>The three-day forum brings together representatives both from the government and non-governmental entities from the member states of SAARC as well as from regional and international organizations. It will conclude on August 30.</p>

<p>Addressing the inaugural session of the forum, SAARC Secretary General Amjad Hussain B Sial said, &ldquo;South Asia is home to around a quarter of the global population, majority of whom live in the rural areas and depend on natural resources like land, freshwater, coastal fisheries, and forests. Much of the agricultural production in the region is undertaken by smallholders with very small landholdings, while women play a significant role in agriculture.&rdquo;</p>

<p>He added that in the context of diminishing farm sizes, sustainable Family Farmers&rsquo; Cooperatives can play an instrumental role in achieving food security, improving nutrition and developing value chain, eventually contributing to poverty alleviation and ending hunger.</p>

<p>Referring to the SAARC Agriculture Vision 2020 adopted by the SAARC agriculture ministers in 2008, the secretary general said, &ldquo;Small-sized farms in South Asia face serious constraints in adopting modern technology and in marketing their produce. To some extent, the size disadvantage can be obviated through contract and cooperative farming.&rdquo;</p>

<p>In concluding his remarks, Sial said, &ldquo;Agricultural cooperatives can be an effective instrument in tackling the formidable challenge of poverty in the SAARC region. Reaching out to the marginalized segments of the society, cooperatives can help in employment generation by encouraging small and medium enterprises in communities. Women and the vibrant youth population, with proper awareness and education on agriculture cooperatives, could also be utilized in the poverty eradication programmes in the region.&rdquo;</p>

<p>With the agreement, customers can now procurement Datsun and Nissan cars sold by Pioneer Moto Corps with ease.</p>

<p>The bank has agreed to provide finance facility with nominal interest rate and ten-year payback duration to the individuals willing to buy Datsun and Nissan car.</p>

<p>Rabina Desraj Shrestha, assistant deputy CEO of Mega Bank, and Gyanendra Chand, managing director of Pioneer Moto Corps, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations amid a recent function.</p>

<p>According to the agreement, individuals can now procure any model of Datsun and Nissan cars available at Pioneer Moto Corps with 35 percent down payment and monthly installment of just Rs 12,999.</p>

<p>The bank in a statement informed that it will finalize its decision of providing loan within 24 hours of staring the process of loan procurement under the agreement. The loan will be granted within a week&rsquo;s duration by the bank.</p>

<p>Mega Bank recently has signed similar agreement with Narayani Auto Business, the authorized distributer of Suzuki vehicles in Nepal. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>&ldquo;This initial Fellowship provides an initial intensive residential training followed by two years on-the-job training for new fellows in the classroom. Now in its sixth year, the movement has achieved support from various banks, corporations, and local governments. The movement has shown strong results based on a number of assessments,&rdquo; Teach for Nepal said in a statement.</p>

<p>The organization hosted a dinner to acknowledge the contributions made by various institutions for their supportive role. Those institutions include HH Bajaj, Nepal Investment Bank, Surya Nepal Pvt Ltd, Everest Bank, Nepal Bangladesh Bank, Machhapuchchhre Bank, Agricultural Development Bank, Laxmi Bank, Sanima Bank and Panchakanya Group.</p>

<p>&ldquo;In the last six years we have been able to create amazing impacts in the children&#39;s education with the help of various corporate partners and individual donors,&quot; said Shisir Khanal, CEO of Teach for Nepal.&nbsp; &quot;In the coming years, we look forward to serving an additional number of schools and continue to work in partnership with the government, schools, corporate houses and our supporters to help reduce educational inequality in Nepal.&rdquo;</p>

<p>The event also highlighted the additional flight of Qatar Airways&rsquo; wide body A330 aircraft to Nepal. According to the company, the additional frequency will be served by an Airbus A330 starting from September 2. Qatar Airways said in a statement that the added flight will accommodate passengers travelling to Nepal for their annual festive season.</p>
