<p>&nbsp;The bank said in a statement that it currently has a customer base of over 0.95 million, one of the highest in the industry. Furthermore, the bank said it was recently adjudged as Number 2 among the commercial banks of Nepal under CAMELS rating.</p>

<p>The bank has been providing its services through its network of 82 branches, seven extension counters, 28 revenue collection counters, 113 ATMs across the country.</p>

<p>Addressing the 5<sup>th</sup> NewBiz Business Conclave and Awards 2018 on Friday, September 21, the NRB governor said that the central bank took such decision to stop the misuse of loan and to keep the investable capital circulated.</p>

<p>According to the decision, the debtors must invest the disbursed loan for the purpose mentioned in the loan agreement.</p>

<p>Governor Nepal warned the banks not to misappropriate public fund.&nbsp; &nbsp;</p>

<p>He said that the country is an associate member of international clubs including International Monetary Fund and World Bank and such organizations won&rsquo;t tolerate such embezzlements. He requested the banks and financial institutions to apply Basel III banking standard as the international community has already implemented Basel IV.</p>

<p>He mentioned that the central bank is making efforts to identify and minimize the risks posed by the use of new technology. He also shared that there is no alternative to adopting new technologies in the banking sector.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p style="margin-left:0in; margin-right:0in"><span style="color:#333333; font-family:helvetica,sans-serif; font-size:10.5pt">He pointed out that the use of Fin Tech like robots and drones have played an important role in accelerating the work performance of BFIs. He argued that it has become imperative to adopt artificial intelligence and robots to transform the traditional banking practice into technology-friendly system as per the current need of the customers.</span></p>

<p style="margin-left:0in; margin-right:0in"><span style="color:#333333; font-family:helvetica,sans-serif; font-size:10.5pt">He also stressed on the need to change the base of the management to bring newness in the banking sector. </span></p>

<p style="margin-left:0in; margin-right:0in"><span style="color:#333333; font-family:helvetica,sans-serif; font-size:10.5pt">&ldquo;If proper attention is not given to risk reduction, loan assessment and institutional good governance, this can lead to serious problems,&rdquo; he said.</span></p>

<p style="margin-left:0in; margin-right:0in"><span style="color:#333333; font-family:helvetica,sans-serif; font-size:10.5pt">He also praised the Nepali banks for maintaining a proper balance to check bad loans as compared to Indian banks.</span></p>

<p>The finance minister said that banks should operate transparently under the directive of its board of directors (BoD) and by its own mechanism.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Unnecessary political meddling creates a difficult situation for the banks,&rdquo; he said, urging the stakeholders to leave the banks to work according to its mechanism and plans. He also stressed the need for the banks to be under the regulation of the central bank, and increase trust among the depositors.</p>

<p>&ldquo;The central bank is working to uplift the banking and financial institutions (BFIs) of the country. There is a proper policy and laws in the BFI sector. But, there is a need to fully abide by the policies. Also, there is a necessity to amend the policies as per the need of the time,&rdquo; said Khatiwada.</p>

<p>&ldquo;The banking sector is always under risk. So, the this sector should use technologies as per the demand and requirement,&rdquo; he said</p>

<p>The finance minister added the banking sector of the country is not free from the influence of foreign countries. &ldquo;The economic changes in the foreign countries, and the regular changes in the exchange rate of foreign currencies causes problems in the banking sector of the country,&rdquo; the finance minister said.</p>

<p>He also stressed the need to achieve a double digit growth, requesting the banking sector to increase investment in infrastructure projects like hydropower, agriculture, tourism, among others.</p>

<p>Inaugurating the BFIN, Sishir Kumar Dhungana, secretary at the Ministry of Finance, highlighted the need for human resource development for the growth of the economy.</p>

<p>He stated that financial sector has to play a key role in the mobilization of funds for the growth of the economy and therefore, efficiency and effectiveness of this sector is very important to take the economy forward.</p>

<p>According to Dhungana, development of human capital is a priority for the Government of Nepal and that BFIN should meet the required gap in skills and knowledge existing in the entire financial sector in coordination and collaboration with the regulating agencies and institutions.</p>

He also stressed the need for the banks to be under the regulation of the central bank, and increase trust among the depositors.</p>

<p>&ldquo;The central bank is working to uplift the banking and financial institutions (BFIs) of the country. There is a proper policy and laws in the BFI sector. But, there is a need to fully abide by the policies. Also, there is a necessity to amend the policies as per the need of the time,&rdquo; said Khatiwada.</p>

<p>&ldquo;The banking sector is always under risk. So, the this sector should use technologies as per the demand and requirement,&rdquo; he said</p>

<p>The finance minister added the banking sector of the country is not free from the influence of foreign countries. &ldquo;The economic changes in the foreign countries, and the regular changes in the exchange rate of foreign currencies causes problems in the banking sector of the country,&rdquo; the finance minister said.</p>

<p>He also stressed the need to achieve a double digit growth, requesting the banking sector to increase investment in infrastructure projects like hydropower, agriculture, tourism, among others.</p>

<p>The customs officials on Wednesday informed New Business Age that the country has not been able to import petroleum products since two days due to the drivers&rsquo; protest.</p>

<p>Although other goods have completed customs clearance, they have been lying at the customs point due to lack of vehicles for transportation, according to customs officer Santosh Yadav.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Import and export have been badly affected by the strike. The goods that have received customs clearance have been lying at this office,&rdquo; said Yadav.</p>

<p>Yadav further said that around 600 cargo vehicles have been stranded at the integrated customs point of Birgunj due to the strike.</p>

<p>The Birgunj Customs Point, which had been collecting revenue worth Rs 450 million a day on an average collected &nbsp;only Rs 220 million on Tuesday, informed Yadav.</p>

<p>&nbsp;The bank said in a statement that it currently has a customer base of over 0.95 million, one of the highest in the industry. Furthermore, the bank said it was recently adjudged as Number 2 among the commercial banks of Nepal under CAMELS rating.</p>

<p>The bank has been providing its services through its network of 82 branches, seven extension counters, 28 revenue collection counters, 113 ATMs across the country.</p>

<p>According to the decision, the debtors must invest the disbursed loan for the purpose mentioned in the loan agreement.</p>

<p>Governor Nepal warned the banks not to misappropriate public fund.&nbsp; &nbsp;</p>

<p>He said that the country is an associate member of international clubs including International Monetary Fund and World Bank and such organizations won&rsquo;t tolerate such embezzlements. He requested the banks and financial institutions to apply Basel III banking standard as the international community has already implemented Basel IV.</p>

He argued that it has become imperative to adopt artificial intelligence and robots to transform the traditional banking practice into technology-friendly system as per the current need of the customers.</span></p>

<p>The finance minister said that banks should operate transparently under the directive of its board of directors (BoD) and by its own mechanism.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Unnecessary political meddling creates a difficult situation for the banks,&rdquo; he said, urging the stakeholders to leave the banks to work according to its mechanism and plans. He also stressed the need for the banks to be under the regulation of the central bank, and increase trust among the depositors.</p>

<p>&ldquo;The central bank is working to uplift the banking and financial institutions (BFIs) of the country. There is a proper policy and laws in the BFI sector. But, there is a need to fully abide by the policies. Also, there is a necessity to amend the policies as per the need of the time,&rdquo; said Khatiwada.</p>

<p>&ldquo;The banking sector is always under risk. So, the this sector should use technologies as per the demand and requirement,&rdquo; he said</p>

<p>The finance minister added the banking sector of the country is not free from the influence of foreign countries. &ldquo;The economic changes in the foreign countries, and the regular changes in the exchange rate of foreign currencies causes problems in the banking sector of the country,&rdquo; the finance minister said.</p>

<p>He also stressed the need to achieve a double digit growth, requesting the banking sector to increase investment in infrastructure projects like hydropower, agriculture, tourism, among others.</p>

He also stressed the need for the banks to be under the regulation of the central bank, and increase trust among the depositors.</p>

<p>&ldquo;The central bank is working to uplift the banking and financial institutions (BFIs) of the country. There is a proper policy and laws in the BFI sector. But, there is a need to fully abide by the policies. Also, there is a necessity to amend the policies as per the need of the time,&rdquo; said Khatiwada.</p>

<p>&ldquo;The banking sector is always under risk. So, the this sector should use technologies as per the demand and requirement,&rdquo; he said</p>

<p>The finance minister added the banking sector of the country is not free from the influence of foreign countries. &ldquo;The economic changes in the foreign countries, and the regular changes in the exchange rate of foreign currencies causes problems in the banking sector of the country,&rdquo; the finance minister said.</p>

<p>He also stressed the need to achieve a double digit growth, requesting the banking sector to increase investment in infrastructure projects like hydropower, agriculture, tourism, among others.</p>

<p>In the same function, Ncell also handed over the cash prizes to three winners of the first week. Ram Hari Aryal of Dhading, Raj Kumar Gurung and Kushal Gurung of Chitwan had won Rs 100,000 each in the first week of the &lsquo;Recharge and Win&rsquo; offer.</p>

<p>All Ncell prepaid and postpaid customers are eligible to participate in the offer. The Recharge and Win campaign was launched on September 2 for 10 weeks, through which 10 lucky customers topping up Rs 100 or more in a week will get Rs 100,000 every week.</p>

<p>According to the company, the &lsquo;Recharge and Win&rsquo; offer is implemented in a weekly cycle beginning on Sunday and ending on Saturday. Based on the recharges done in the week, the customers receive a random unique code by Monday of the following week for every cumulative refill of Rs 100. <p>The customs officials on Wednesday informed New Business Age that the country has not been able to import petroleum products since two days due to the drivers&rsquo; protest.</p>

<p>Although other goods have completed customs clearance, they have been lying at the customs point due to lack of vehicles for transportation, according to customs officer Santosh Yadav.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Import and export have been badly affected by the strike. The goods that have received customs clearance have been lying at this office,&rdquo; said Yadav.</p>

<p>Yadav further said that around 600 cargo vehicles have been stranded at the integrated customs point of Birgunj due to the strike.</p>

<p>The Birgunj Customs Point, which had been collecting revenue worth Rs 450 million a day on an average collected &nbsp;only Rs 220 million on Tuesday, informed Yadav.</p>
