The new transmission line is being built as the existing 66 kV Chilime-Trishuli-Kathmandu transmission line which is under operation cannot supply additional electricity. &nbsp;The new transmission line will facilitate the supply of 600MW electricity which will be produced by various projects in the Chilime- Trishuli corridor. The construction of the project was inaugurated by Energy Minister Janardan Sharma on October 5.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The project is being built with the financial support by European Union, German Development Assistance (KfW) and European Investment Bank. The length of the transmission line will be 27 km from Chilime to Trishuli. The project will cost Euro 60.50 million. A contract has already been signed with the donors for Euro 60 million for the construction of the project.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Speaking at the program, minister Sharma said that the constructions of nationwide and cross border transmission lines will go rapidly. He requested to invest in mega projects in order to tackle the impending power crisis in the country.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">&ldquo;The project being the nearest transmission line from the capital will help to ease the power-cut problem in the valley,&rdquo; said Kulman Ghising, Executive Director of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA). According to Ghising, the 600 MW electricity will be firstly distributed the region and the rest will be supplied to the Kathmandu Valley.&nbsp;</p>

However, the bank estimates weak economic outlook for Nepal for 2016. &ldquo;Nepal has had a difficult year due to the earthquake, border disruptions with India, and reduced remittances. Its economic activity is recovering with growth expected to rebound to 5.0 percent in 2017, after a weak year 2016 at only 0.6 percent growth,&rdquo; says the bank. As per the bank, next year&rsquo;s recovery will be aided by rise in agricultural output and increase in construction activities. &ldquo;Agriculture and construction are expected to improve on the account of a good monsoon, while increased disbursements of housing reconstruction grants will help as well,&rdquo; mentions the bank.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The report says that South Asia has defied a sluggish world economy and solidified its lead as the fastest growing region in the world in 2016. The bank expects the region&rsquo;s economic growth to gradually accelerate from 7.1 percent in 2016 to 7.3 percent in 2017led by the performance of India.<br />
According to the bank, the region remains a global growth hotspot and has proven resilient to external headwinds such as China&rsquo;s slowdown, uncertainty around stimulus policy in advanced economies, and slowing remittances. &ldquo;The main challenges remain domestic, and include policy uncertainty as well as fiscal and financial vulnerabilities,&rdquo; notes the bank. &nbsp;India sets the pace for South Asia as a whole. The bank expects the country&rsquo;s economic activity to accelerate to 7.7 percent in 2017, after maintaining a solid 7.6 percent in 2016.<br />
&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;<br />
&ldquo;A reality check reveals that private investment &ndash; a key future growth driver across South Asia &ndash; is yet to be ignited to sustain and further increase economic growth,&rdquo; said Annette Dixon, World Bank South Asia Region&rsquo;s Vice President. &ldquo;Countries will need to activate the full potential of private investment and exports to accelerate economic activity further, reduce poverty and boost prosperity.&rdquo;&nbsp;<br />
&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;<br />
The bank&rsquo;s reality check on the state of private investment in South Asia shows that the region has fallen short of expectations. &ldquo;Mobilizing domestic savings remains key at the aggregate level. However, remittances and foreign direct investment prove very effective on a per-dollar basis, and the region should make the most of them,&rdquo; says the bank, adding, &ldquo;India can further rely on public infrastructure to crowd-in private investment, while finance may constrain investment in Pakistan.&rdquo;</p>

<p>According to the bank, many South Asian countries show potential for accelerated growth in the short to medium term.&nbsp;</p>

<p style="text-align:justify">Issuing a press release, Tara Air informed that it has joined hands with SPCC to air lift the garbage from Lukla and hand it over to the Kathmandu Municipality for it&rsquo;s proper disposal free of cost.&nbsp; SPCC plans to collect approximately 12 tons of garbage annually for disposal. At present SPCC has collected 2.6 tons of garbage from three VDCs including Chaurikharka, Namche and Khumjung of Sagarmatha National Park and Buffer Zone.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify">According to the statement, Tara Air in the spring of 2008, in co-operation with the SPCC and The Himalaya Club, Lukla, had air lifted approximately 17 tons of empty beer bottles from Lukla for proper disposal in Kathmandu.</p>

e-BPS is a web-based application software suite which has been developed to assist municipalities to improve their current building permit process and to maintain current building records. Similarly, UNDP Deputy Country Director Sophie Kemkhadze highlighted that adoption of e-BPS is fully linked with national building code compliant construction that contributes towards achievement of Building Back Better (BBB) goal in the country.</p>

&nbsp;e-BPS is a distributed system and can be accessed from both municipal head offices as well as their respective ward offices. &nbsp;The system also allows citizens to submit as well as track their application(s) and its status respectively over the internet. It enables municipal staff members to maintain a building permit database and ensure National Building Code and Building Bye-laws compliance for individual buildings through an intuitive web interface.&nbsp;</p>

Kathmandu Metropolitan City has already adopted e-BPS with support from UNDP and The Department for International Development (DFID) in 14 wards of KMC from 2015 and expanded it to all 35 wards . UNDP&#39;s CDRMP is supporting establishment of a fully operational e-BPS in Lalitpur Sub Metropolitan and aligned with Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development&rsquo;s plan for establishment of a central server, the piloting of eBPS in Kirtipur Municipality, which has been under testing from July 2016 in Kirtipur.&nbsp;</p>

The new transmission line is being built as the existing 66 kV Chilime-Trishuli-Kathmandu transmission line which is under operation cannot supply additional electricity. &nbsp;The new transmission line will facilitate the supply of 600MW electricity which will be produced by various projects in the Chilime- Trishuli corridor. The construction of the project was inaugurated by Energy Minister Janardan Sharma on October 5.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The project is being built with the financial support by European Union, German Development Assistance (KfW) and European Investment Bank. The length of the transmission line will be 27 km from Chilime to Trishuli. The project will cost Euro 60.50 million. A contract has already been signed with the donors for Euro 60 million for the construction of the project.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Speaking at the program, minister Sharma said that the constructions of nationwide and cross border transmission lines will go rapidly. He requested to invest in mega projects in order to tackle the impending power crisis in the country.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">&ldquo;The project being the nearest transmission line from the capital will help to ease the power-cut problem in the valley,&rdquo; said Kulman Ghising, Executive Director of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA). According to Ghising, the 600 MW electricity will be firstly distributed the region and the rest will be supplied to the Kathmandu Valley.&nbsp;</p>

However, the bank estimates weak economic outlook for Nepal for 2016. &ldquo;Nepal has had a difficult year due to the earthquake, border disruptions with India, and reduced remittances. Its economic activity is recovering with growth expected to rebound to 5.0 percent in 2017, after a weak year 2016 at only 0.6 percent growth,&rdquo; says the bank. As per the bank, next year&rsquo;s recovery will be aided by rise in agricultural output and increase in construction activities. &ldquo;Agriculture and construction are expected to improve on the account of a good monsoon, while increased disbursements of housing reconstruction grants will help as well,&rdquo; mentions the bank.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The report says that South Asia has defied a sluggish world economy and solidified its lead as the fastest growing region in the world in 2016. The bank expects the region&rsquo;s economic growth to gradually accelerate from 7.1 percent in 2016 to 7.3 percent in 2017led by the performance of India.<br />
According to the bank, the region remains a global growth hotspot and has proven resilient to external headwinds such as China&rsquo;s slowdown, uncertainty around stimulus policy in advanced economies, and slowing remittances. &ldquo;The main challenges remain domestic, and include policy uncertainty as well as fiscal and financial vulnerabilities,&rdquo; notes the bank. &nbsp;India sets the pace for South Asia as a whole. The bank expects the country&rsquo;s economic activity to accelerate to 7.7 percent in 2017, after maintaining a solid 7.6 percent in 2016.<br />
&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;<br />
&ldquo;A reality check reveals that private investment &ndash; a key future growth driver across South Asia &ndash; is yet to be ignited to sustain and further increase economic growth,&rdquo; said Annette Dixon, World Bank South Asia Region&rsquo;s Vice President. &ldquo;Countries will need to activate the full potential of private investment and exports to accelerate economic activity further, reduce poverty and boost prosperity.&rdquo;&nbsp;<br />
&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;<br />
The bank&rsquo;s reality check on the state of private investment in South Asia shows that the region has fallen short of expectations. &ldquo;Mobilizing domestic savings remains key at the aggregate level. However, remittances and foreign direct investment prove very effective on a per-dollar basis, and the region should make the most of them,&rdquo; says the bank, adding, &ldquo;India can further rely on public infrastructure to crowd-in private investment, while finance may constrain investment in Pakistan.&rdquo;</p>

<p>According to the bank, many South Asian countries show potential for accelerated growth in the short to medium term.&nbsp;</p>

e-BPS is a web-based application software suite which has been developed to assist municipalities to improve their current building permit process and to maintain current building records. Amid the launching ceremony, State Minister for Federal Affairs and Local Development &nbsp;Shree Prasad Jabegu said that the application will ease citizens to get their building permit in an easy, transparent and accountable way. Similarly, UNDP Deputy Country Director Sophie Kemkhadze highlighted that adoption of e-BPS is fully linked with national building code compliant construction that contributes towards achievement of Building Back Better (BBB) goal in the country.</p>

&nbsp;e-BPS is a distributed system and can be accessed from both municipal head offices as well as their respective ward offices. &nbsp;The system also allows citizens to submit as well as track their application(s) and its status respectively over the internet. It enables municipal staff members to maintain a building permit database and ensure National Building Code and Building Bye-laws compliance for individual buildings through an intuitive web interface.&nbsp;</p>

Kathmandu Metropolitan City has already adopted e-BPS with support from UNDP and The Department for International Development (DFID) in 14 wards of KMC from 2015 and expanded it to all 35 wards . UNDP&#39;s CDRMP is supporting establishment of a fully operational e-BPS in Lalitpur Sub Metropolitan and aligned with Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development&rsquo;s plan for establishment of a central server, the piloting of eBPS in Kirtipur Municipality, which has been under testing from July 2016 in Kirtipur.&nbsp;</p>

The new transmission line is being built as the existing 66 kV Chilime-Trishuli-Kathmandu transmission line which is under operation cannot supply additional electricity. &nbsp;The new transmission line will facilitate the supply of 600MW electricity which will be produced by various projects in the Chilime- Trishuli corridor. The construction of the project was inaugurated by Energy Minister Janardan Sharma on October 5.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The project is being built with the financial support by European Union, German Development Assistance (KfW) and European Investment Bank. The length of the transmission line will be 27 km from Chilime to Trishuli. The project will cost Euro 60.50 million. A contract has already been signed with the donors for Euro 60 million for the construction of the project.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Speaking at the program, minister Sharma said that the constructions of nationwide and cross border transmission lines will go rapidly. He requested to invest in mega projects in order to tackle the impending power crisis in the country.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">&ldquo;The project being the nearest transmission line from the capital will help to ease the power-cut problem in the valley,&rdquo; said Kulman Ghising, Executive Director of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA). According to Ghising, the 600 MW electricity will be firstly distributed the region and the rest will be supplied to the Kathmandu Valley.&nbsp;</p>

Its economic activity is recovering with growth expected to rebound to 5.0 percent in 2017, after a weak year 2016 at only 0.6 percent growth,&rdquo; says the bank. As per the bank, next year&rsquo;s recovery will be aided by rise in agricultural output and increase in construction activities. &ldquo;Agriculture and construction are expected to improve on the account of a good monsoon, while increased disbursements of housing reconstruction grants will help as well,&rdquo; mentions the bank.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The report says that South Asia has defied a sluggish world economy and solidified its lead as the fastest growing region in the world in 2016. The bank expects the region&rsquo;s economic growth to gradually accelerate from 7.1 percent in 2016 to 7.3 percent in 2017led by the performance of India.<br />
According to the bank, the region remains a global growth hotspot and has proven resilient to external headwinds such as China&rsquo;s slowdown, uncertainty around stimulus policy in advanced economies, and slowing remittances. &ldquo;The main challenges remain domestic, and include policy uncertainty as well as fiscal and financial vulnerabilities,&rdquo; notes the bank. &nbsp;India sets the pace for South Asia as a whole. The bank expects the country&rsquo;s economic activity to accelerate to 7.7 percent in 2017, after maintaining a solid 7.6 percent in 2016.<br />
&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;<br />
&ldquo;A reality check reveals that private investment &ndash; a key future growth driver across South Asia &ndash; is yet to be ignited to sustain and further increase economic growth,&rdquo; said Annette Dixon, World Bank South Asia Region&rsquo;s Vice President. &ldquo;Countries will need to activate the full potential of private investment and exports to accelerate economic activity further, reduce poverty and boost prosperity.&rdquo;&nbsp;<br />
&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;<br />
The bank&rsquo;s reality check on the state of private investment in South Asia shows that the region has fallen short of expectations. &ldquo;Mobilizing domestic savings remains key at the aggregate level. However, remittances and foreign direct investment prove very effective on a per-dollar basis, and the region should make the most of them,&rdquo; says the bank, adding, &ldquo;India can further rely on public infrastructure to crowd-in private investment, while finance may constrain investment in Pakistan.&rdquo;</p>

<p>According to the bank, many South Asian countries show potential for accelerated growth in the short to medium term.&nbsp;</p>

The new transmission line is being built as the existing 66 kV Chilime-Trishuli-Kathmandu transmission line which is under operation cannot supply additional electricity. &nbsp;The new transmission line will facilitate the supply of 600MW electricity which will be produced by various projects in the Chilime- Trishuli corridor. The construction of the project was inaugurated by Energy Minister Janardan Sharma on October 5.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The project is being built with the financial support by European Union, German Development Assistance (KfW) and European Investment Bank. The length of the transmission line will be 27 km from Chilime to Trishuli. The project will cost Euro 60.50 million. A contract has already been signed with the donors for Euro 60 million for the construction of the project.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Speaking at the program, minister Sharma said that the constructions of nationwide and cross border transmission lines will go rapidly. He requested to invest in mega projects in order to tackle the impending power crisis in the country.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">&ldquo;The project being the nearest transmission line from the capital will help to ease the power-cut problem in the valley,&rdquo; said Kulman Ghising, Executive Director of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA). According to Ghising, the 600 MW electricity will be firstly distributed the region and the rest will be supplied to the Kathmandu Valley.&nbsp;</p>

Its economic activity is recovering with growth expected to rebound to 5.0 percent in 2017, after a weak year 2016 at only 0.6 percent growth,&rdquo; says the bank. As per the bank, next year&rsquo;s recovery will be aided by rise in agricultural output and increase in construction activities. &ldquo;Agriculture and construction are expected to improve on the account of a good monsoon, while increased disbursements of housing reconstruction grants will help as well,&rdquo; mentions the bank.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The report says that South Asia has defied a sluggish world economy and solidified its lead as the fastest growing region in the world in 2016. The bank expects the region&rsquo;s economic growth to gradually accelerate from 7.1 percent in 2016 to 7.3 percent in 2017led by the performance of India.<br />
According to the bank, the region remains a global growth hotspot and has proven resilient to external headwinds such as China&rsquo;s slowdown, uncertainty around stimulus policy in advanced economies, and slowing remittances. &ldquo;The main challenges remain domestic, and include policy uncertainty as well as fiscal and financial vulnerabilities,&rdquo; notes the bank. &nbsp;India sets the pace for South Asia as a whole. The bank expects the country&rsquo;s economic activity to accelerate to 7.7 percent in 2017, after maintaining a solid 7.6 percent in 2016.<br />
&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;<br />
&ldquo;A reality check reveals that private investment &ndash; a key future growth driver across South Asia &ndash; is yet to be ignited to sustain and further increase economic growth,&rdquo; said Annette Dixon, World Bank South Asia Region&rsquo;s Vice President. &ldquo;Countries will need to activate the full potential of private investment and exports to accelerate economic activity further, reduce poverty and boost prosperity.&rdquo;&nbsp;<br />
&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;<br />
The bank&rsquo;s reality check on the state of private investment in South Asia shows that the region has fallen short of expectations. &ldquo;Mobilizing domestic savings remains key at the aggregate level. However, remittances and foreign direct investment prove very effective on a per-dollar basis, and the region should make the most of them,&rdquo; says the bank, adding, &ldquo;India can further rely on public infrastructure to crowd-in private investment, while finance may constrain investment in Pakistan.&rdquo;</p>

<p>According to the bank, many South Asian countries show potential for accelerated growth in the short to medium term.&nbsp;</p>

&nbsp;e-BPS is a distributed system and can be accessed from both municipal head offices as well as their respective ward offices. &nbsp;The system also allows citizens to submit as well as track their application(s) and its status respectively over the internet. It enables municipal staff members to maintain a building permit database and ensure National Building Code and Building Bye-laws compliance for individual buildings through an intuitive web interface.&nbsp;</p>

Kathmandu Metropolitan City has already adopted e-BPS with support from UNDP and The Department for International Development (DFID) in 14 wards of KMC from 2015 and expanded it to all 35 wards . UNDP&#39;s CDRMP is supporting establishment of a fully operational e-BPS in Lalitpur Sub Metropolitan and aligned with Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development&rsquo;s plan for establishment of a central server, the piloting of eBPS in Kirtipur Municipality, which has been under testing from July 2016 in Kirtipur.&nbsp;</p>
