The sugar industry, which used to remain operational for 4-5 months in winter a few years back, has now started to close within 2 months of operation due to lack of sugarcane.</span></span></span></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,"sans-serif""><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">According to Thakur Nepal, the head of the administration department of Indu Shankar Sugar Industry, sugar industries used to start their operation towards the end of November itself until a few years back. The CIAA decided to file the corruption case against Thapaliya after this source of income could not be verified. However, Thapaliya has been found of spending and investing an Rs 20.67 million during the review period, out of which the source of income of Rs 16.4 million is unknown. The CIAA decided to file the corruption case against Thapaliya after this source of income could not be verified. It has been found that majority of industries have been using urea although they have stated that a chemical namely raisin will be used as glue in course of obtaining approval for setting up the industry. </span><br /> <span style="font-family:"Arial Unicode MS","sans-serif"">The government has been providing chemical fertilizer to the farmers at subsidized rate of Rs 74 per kilogram. The fertilizer is not available for the farmers during the time of crop cultivation in Nepal, when it is needed the most. </span><br /> <span style="font-family:"Arial Unicode MS","sans-serif"">The alleged use of chemical fertilizers for commercial purpose meant to be given to the farmers shows a gross misuse of subsidy provided to the farmers.
