Mid Western University Set to Grant Affiliation to Science Colleges
Mid Western University is set to grant affiliation to science colleges operating in the Mid-Western Region as per the need with the completion of a year of its official operation. The second assembly of the University has decided to grant affiliation to the colleges offering Science and Technology education in different districts in the region. The affiliation will be granted on the basis of application submitted for the constituent college, said MU Registrar Thakendra Prakash Giri. However, it is not possible to grant affiliation to all colleges at once, Giri added. (RSS)
 
Private Schools in Chitwan Shut down Indefinitely
The Nepal Institutional Schools Teachers’ Union (Nepal ISTU), Chitwan has called for a closure of all the private schools in Chitwan with effect from Thursday. The decision to close down the schools was made after the agreement reached with the Private and Boarding Schools Association of Nepal (PABSON) to increase teachers’ salary was not implemented, said ISTU Chitwan Chair Bishnu Bahadur Bhujel. According to Bhujel, an agreement was reached with the involvement of the District Education Office to increase teachers’ salary by 18 per cent and provide a dearness allowance of Rs. 1,000 per month. The closure of more than 150 schools will affect some 8,000 students in Chitwan. “Unless our demands are met the schools will not open at any cost”, warns Bhujel. (RSS)
 
NMC Chairperson Resigned
Chairperson of Nepal Medical Council (NMC) Dr. Damodar Gajurel has resigned citing lack of proper environment to work at the regulatory body. He tendered the resignation to Health Minister Vidyadhar Mallik on Friday, 24th January.  
 
Purbanchal University published results of various semesters
Purbanchal University, office of the examination Management, Biratnagar has published the results of various semesters of Bachelor’s and Master’s programme on Saturday, 25th January. Results that have been published are of Masters in Hospitality and Hotel Management (MHHM)-II and IV semesters, Bachelor in Travel and Tourism Studies: I, III and V semesters, Masters in Development Studies (M.Dev.s): I and III semesters and B.V.Sc and AH-II and IV Semesters.
 
UGC Employee Caught Red handed in a Bribery Case
According to a press release issued by Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), Bishnu Bahadur Khadka, senior Assistant of the University Grants Commission (UGC) was caught red-handed while taking bribe. CIAA on Friday apprehended Khadka while taking bribe of Rs 15,000 from Chief of Baglung-based Nisibhuji Janata Campus, Rishi Ram Sharma, for getting the budget of Rs 2.5 million released from the Ministry of Finance for the construction of the college building. 
 
MBBS Graduates from Foreign Universities on Agitation
The future of medical students graduated from abroad has become uncertain with the sheer ignorance on the part of the Nepal Medical Council. Hundreds of students, who pursued medical science abroad, are reeling under an uncertain future when the Council banned them to practice as an intern in Nepal. Though the Council imposed ban on internship issuing a notice in 2064 BS, medical students up to the batch of 2068 BS had completed their internship. The students after the 2068 batch have been deprived of doing internship in Nepal. However, the National Guidelines for Internship Training-2007 has specified a provision that medical students graduating from abroad could practice as an intern in Nepal giving prior information to the Council under special circumstances.
