The Association organized a programme at Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) on Sunday to announce the Festival with the theme of 3P- People, Preservation and Prosperity. </div>

The Regional Hotel Association Nepal Chitwan is organizing 10th Chitwan Elephant Festival in Sauraha of Chitwan from December 26 to 30. The Association organized a programme at Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) on Sunday to announce the Festival with the theme of 3P- People, Preservation and Prosperity.
The major attraction of the 5-day Festival is elephant race and elephant calf football. Apart from these, there will be other activities like elephant beauty contest, ox cart race, horse cart race and canoe race. Visitors will also get the information regarding the elephants and their daily activities. Also, the event will feature cultural activities of Tharu community living in and around Sauraha.
According to Keshav Pandey, Media Coordinator of the event, the Festival will promote tourism in a regional and national level. “Apart from bringing in more tourists, the Festival will also promote Sauraha and its neighbouring areas. As there are foreign participants in the event, Nepal will also be promoted in the international arena,” said Pandey. He also informed that the Festival will help in conservation of elephants and will assist in the promotion of the indigenous art, culture and food of Sauraha. “Though the elephant festival appears to be only for entertainment purpose, wildlife preservation and tourism promotion is at the core of the Festival. It will also help in economic development of Sauraha and its residents,” informed Pandey. This year’s Festival is being organized at an investment of three
million rupees.

The major attraction of the 5-day Festival is elephant race and elephant calf football. Apart from these, there will be other activities like elephant beauty contest, ox cart race, horse cart race and canoe race. Visitors will also get the information regarding the elephants and their daily activities. Also, the event will feature cultural activities of Tharu community living in and around Sauraha.</div>

According to Keshav Pandey, Media Coordinator of the event, the Festival will promote tourism in a regional and national level. “Apart from bringing in more tourists, the Festival will also promote Sauraha and its neighbouring areas. As there are foreign participants in the event, Nepal will also be promoted in the international arena,” said Pandey. He also informed that the Festival will help in conservation of elephants and will assist in the promotion of the indigenous art, culture and food of Sauraha. “Though the elephant festival appears to be only for entertainment purpose, wildlife preservation and tourism promotion is at the core of the Festival.
