Hotel Annapurna, in its pursuit of providing better services and facilities to its customers, has introduced a new collection of fine wines from around the world. The Hotel has recently introduced new range of classic wines from France, Chile, New Zealand and Australia among other countries. To familiarize its customers with the new wine assortment, Annapurna Organized a Wine Appreciation programme on Tuesday evening.

According to Deepeksha B Rana, Food and Beverage Manager at Annapurna, this new collection is a part of Hotel’s endeavour to upgrade its services. “With this new collection, we have all sorts of wines in our inventory, from expensive to mediocre ones. The range of wines is such that it can be enjoyed by people from all classes and all walks of life,” says Rana. He also informed that the new wine range is targeted to expatriates, NRNs and young professional who especially have a taste for fine wines.

Four of the Jacob’s Creek wines from the collection were offered to the guests in the programme. A certified Wine Professional provided those present with a detailed guidance on how to discover the real taste of wine, and wine and food pairing. The guests were informed about the five S’s of wine tasting, namely see, swirl, smell, sip and savour. First on the list was Classic Chardonnay. It had the aromas of citrus and other fruits with hints of oak. The medium bodied softly acidic wine is the type that goes well with fish, chicken and similar dishes. The chardonnay was followed by Shiraz Rose, a medium bodied wine with raspberry and cherry flavours.

Next was Classic Merlot that had aromas of cherry and red currant. The medium bodied dry wine is a perfect accompaniment for pasta and cheese dishes. The wine tasting was concluded with Shiraz Cabernet. The medium bodies wine had flavours of black cherry, plum and cloves with hints of pepper on the palate. Red meat dishes, pizzas and tomato based dishes go very well with this wine.

Apart from these, Annapurna boasts of numerous red wines, white wines, rose wine, sparkling wine and champagnes. The price of the wines range from Rs 2,100 to Rs 35,000 per bottle, suiting every pocket. According to Rana, the wine collection can be enjoyed at Juneli Bar, Arniko Room, Ghar-e-kabab and even at The Coffee Shop of the Hotel. Hotel Annapurna could be your next destination if you are a wine connoisseur or just enjoy a glass every now and then.
