Nepse Drops By 3 Points

Nepse dropped by 3.09 points during previous week. It had closed 497.44 on Sunday, 9th June (the first trading day of the week) and reached 494.36 at the close of Thursday, 13th June (the last trading day of the week). The market floor was openfor five days.

In the week, the ‘other’ sub-index dropped the highest by 11.75 points closing at 616.82 points. Similarly, the hydro-power sub-index dropped by 6.54 points. The sub-index came down due to fall in the share price of Butwal Power Company and Chilime Hydropower Company by Rs 15 (closing at Rs 780) and Rs 10 (closing at Rs 1137) respectively At the same time, drop in the profit growth rate of Nepal Telecom has affected in the sentiment of investor which caused fall in the ‘other’ sector sub-index.

The hotel sub-index increased the highest (by 10.79 points). There was no change in manufacturing and processing as well as trading sub-indices during the week.

Shares of 119 companies were traded at Nepse during the week through 5,175 transactions amounting to Rs 294,491,000. The total number of scrips traded was 1,180,523 which is 70272 scrips less than that of earlier week.

Sagarmatha Insurance topped the list in terms of transaction amount (Rs 37,020,000). Nabil Balanced Fund topped in number of scrips traded during the week. Altogether 2,77,907scrips of the fund were traded during the week.

Commerz and Trust Bank Nepal Ltd was at the top on the basis of the number of transactions (863).

On Thursday June 13, a total of 1,882,438 scrips of bonus shares of eight companies were listed at Nepse. Similarly, on the same day 157000 ordinary shares of Swarojgar Laghubitta Bikas Bank were also listed at Nepse.

Nepse on Sunday

Nepse closed at 494.91 points with an increase of 0.57 points from the Thursday close (June 13). Banking sub-index, development bank sub-index and manufacturing and processing sub-index saw an increment whereas remaining sub-indices saw a drop. The share price of Kamana Bikas Bank gained the highest by Rs 6 per share closing at Rs 130. Similarly, the share price of NB Insurance dropped the highest by Rs 6 per share closing at Rs 57. Total of 280,297 shares were traded amounted to Rs 113,410,218 at Nepse floor.
