There are numerous ways in which working people can make use of their leisure time beyond office hours and beyond the confines of the office walls. A trip to a nearby destination, hanging out with friends, a party or simply spending time with the family. Through these means, most of us try ignoring the headaches and stress that come free with our work, at least for a few moments. For Explore Asia Pacific’s Managing Director Neeraj Sharma, it is quite as same. When it’s time for leisure, he engages most of his time in various social activities.

A former member of Lions Club, Sharma tries attending most of its programmes and events despite his hectic schedule. “I believe social activities are one of the best ways to rejuvenate one’s mind. And with it come a number of extra knowledge and experiences,” he shares. A philanthropist, Sharma is also a current chartered member of Round Table Nepal, an organization that promotes fellowship and goodwill in national and international affairs. Stressing the need to attend social events and activities, Sharma says, “These are the platforms where we can share our experiences and learn from others’ experiences.” However, Sharma regrets on his inability to give sufficient time for these kinds of activities.

Besides his social engagements, Sharma loves spending time with his family. He gives as much time as possible to his family. Playing games with the children, taking a short family trip include some of the things he does on a usual basis. “Family, society and responsibility are the things that should be the respective priority of every individual,” notes Sharma.

Along with all the fun and social work, Sharma loves to keep himself fit at all times, for which, he often visits health clubs. He often plays cricket during his time off, keeping the athlete in him alive. “However, lack of sufficient time and a proper venue to play cricket has made me irregular these days,” Sharma says.

Focusing on the need of time management among Nepali professionals, Sharma says that one should have the capacity of stress management and the ability to decentralize one’s work. “Prioritizing our work and handling it as an art simplifies the work and eases its burden,” Sharma believes.

An optimistic man, Sharma takes life as a game with equal chances of winning and losing. However, he urges everyone to play it in order to win.
