Once complete, the new Chilime-Trishuli Transmission link allows thousands of people living in communities in the Trishuli River Basin and beyond to benefit from clean hydropower energy and a more reliable power supply, said Energy Minister Barshaman Pun.</p>

<p>Speaking at the formal inauguration ceremony, Minister of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Pun said, &ldquo;This crucial energy project is key for sustainable development in Nepal and demonstrates the close partnership between Nepal and European partners.&rdquo;</p>

<p>According to a joint statement issued by the government and its European partners, the new 27km transmission line will be built through difficult mountainous terrain 50km west of Kathmandu by the Nepal Electricity Authority and financed by the European Investment Bank, the European Union through the Asian Investment Facility, German Development Bank KfW and the Government of Nepal.</p>

<p>The new transmission link will enable 600 MW of clean energy generated from hydropower plants, including independent power producers, on the Trishuli River corridor to be connected to Nepal&rsquo;s national electricity grid and upgrade the existing electricity distribution to enable a more reliable supply of energy, the statement further said.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Over the coming years investment in clean energy will support sustainable development across Nepal and significantly increase use of renewable energy sources. The Chilime-Trishuli transmission line highlights how technical and financial cooperation between the Nepal Electricity Authority and European partners benefits our country and helps to harness low-carbon power sources,&rdquo; said Kul Man Ghishing, managing director of the Nepal Electricity Authority.</p>

<p>The distribution scheme under the transmission system will also enable households in remote rural communities to benefit from first time access to electricity and reduce the need for expensive generators and cooking fuels.</p>

<p>&nbsp;The European Union and German government financed comprehensive technical assistance totalling 16.25 million euros, essential for preparation and implementation of the project, and the European Investment Bank is providing a EUR 30 million long-term loan to finance construction of the new transmission link.</p>

<p>The agitating drivers had halted fuel supply for three days protesting the misbehavior from the Indian security personnel.</p>

<p>Among the demands put forth by the agitators include taking action against the Indian security personnel who beat the tanker driver, putting to an end the misbehaviour meted out against Nepali drivers, ensuring security of drivers and seeking alternative route to the existing heavy traffic road.</p>

<p>RSS said that the fuel supply has come to normalcy from Monday evening after the Indian side admitted its mistake and pledged to not repeat such misbehavour again. The Indian side realized its mistake at a meeting between the officials of Nepal and India at Jogbani on Monday.</p>

<p>However, the member states have made significant progress in recent years, according to a statement issued by the WHO. Region-wide, urban coverage of basic sanitation is now close to 70 percent. In a majority of countries rural coverage exceeds 50 percent.</p>

<p>The share of the region&rsquo;s population practicing open defecation has meanwhile been reduced from more than 50 percent to less than 30 percent, while several member states have achieved more than 90 percent coverage of basic sanitation services.</p>

<p>The return on every dollar invested in safe sanitation is estimated to be nearly six times, due in large part to lower health costs, increased productivity and fewer premature deaths, the statement further said.</p>

<p>Aakash Tiwari, managing director of Techsol International, said that they have been involved in promoting modern ways of storage of grains in Nepal since the last two years.</p>

<p>He said that such storage facilities are highly relevant in the Nepali society due to its agrarian nature.</p>

<p>He further claimed that the technology of these two companies would incur less cost in storage of grains and other food items.</p>

<p>It was said in the seminar that food grains like wheat, maize, paddy, mustard among others can be stored safely for a long period using these technologies.</p>

Once complete, the new Chilime-Trishuli Transmission link allows thousands of people living in communities in the Trishuli River Basin and beyond to benefit from clean hydropower energy and a more reliable power supply, said Energy Minister Barshaman Pun.</p>

<p>Speaking at the formal inauguration ceremony, Minister of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Pun said, &ldquo;This crucial energy project is key for sustainable development in Nepal and demonstrates the close partnership between Nepal and European partners.&rdquo;</p>

<p>According to a joint statement issued by the government and its European partners, the new 27km transmission line will be built through difficult mountainous terrain 50km west of Kathmandu by the Nepal Electricity Authority and financed by the European Investment Bank, the European Union through the Asian Investment Facility, German Development Bank KfW and the Government of Nepal.</p>

<p>The new transmission link will enable 600 MW of clean energy generated from hydropower plants, including independent power producers, on the Trishuli River corridor to be connected to Nepal&rsquo;s national electricity grid and upgrade the existing electricity distribution to enable a more reliable supply of energy, the statement further said.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Over the coming years investment in clean energy will support sustainable development across Nepal and significantly increase use of renewable energy sources. The Chilime-Trishuli transmission line highlights how technical and financial cooperation between the Nepal Electricity Authority and European partners benefits our country and helps to harness low-carbon power sources,&rdquo; said Kul Man Ghishing, managing director of the Nepal Electricity Authority.</p>

<p>The distribution scheme under the transmission system will also enable households in remote rural communities to benefit from first time access to electricity and reduce the need for expensive generators and cooking fuels.</p>

<p>&nbsp;The European Union and German government financed comprehensive technical assistance totalling 16.25 million euros, essential for preparation and implementation of the project, and the European Investment Bank is providing a EUR 30 million long-term loan to finance construction of the new transmission link.</p>

<p>The agitating drivers had halted fuel supply for three days protesting the misbehavior from the Indian security personnel.</p>

<p>Among the demands put forth by the agitators include taking action against the Indian security personnel who beat the tanker driver, putting to an end the misbehaviour meted out against Nepali drivers, ensuring security of drivers and seeking alternative route to the existing heavy traffic road.</p>

<p>RSS said that the fuel supply has come to normalcy from Monday evening after the Indian side admitted its mistake and pledged to not repeat such misbehavour again. The Indian side realized its mistake at a meeting between the officials of Nepal and India at Jogbani on Monday.</p>

<p>The popular tourist destinations of Antalya and Bodrum in Turkey, Mykonos, Greece, and M&aacute;laga, Spain, have shown a consistently strong performance in the four months since being launched in June this year, the statement further said.</p>

<p>However, the member states have made significant progress in recent years, according to a statement issued by the WHO. Region-wide, urban coverage of basic sanitation is now close to 70 percent. In a majority of countries rural coverage exceeds 50 percent.</p>

<p>The share of the region&rsquo;s population practicing open defecation has meanwhile been reduced from more than 50 percent to less than 30 percent, while several member states have achieved more than 90 percent coverage of basic sanitation services.</p>

<p>The return on every dollar invested in safe sanitation is estimated to be nearly six times, due in large part to lower health costs, increased productivity and fewer premature deaths, the statement further said.</p>

Once complete, the new Chilime-Trishuli Transmission link allows thousands of people living in communities in the Trishuli River Basin and beyond to benefit from clean hydropower energy and a more reliable power supply, said Energy Minister Barshaman Pun.</p>

<p>Speaking at the formal inauguration ceremony, Minister of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Pun said, &ldquo;This crucial energy project is key for sustainable development in Nepal and demonstrates the close partnership between Nepal and European partners.&rdquo;</p>

<p>According to a joint statement issued by the government and its European partners, the new 27km transmission line will be built through difficult mountainous terrain 50km west of Kathmandu by the Nepal Electricity Authority and financed by the European Investment Bank, the European Union through the Asian Investment Facility, German Development Bank KfW and the Government of Nepal.</p>

<p>The new transmission link will enable 600 MW of clean energy generated from hydropower plants, including independent power producers, on the Trishuli River corridor to be connected to Nepal&rsquo;s national electricity grid and upgrade the existing electricity distribution to enable a more reliable supply of energy, the statement further said.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Over the coming years investment in clean energy will support sustainable development across Nepal and significantly increase use of renewable energy sources. The Chilime-Trishuli transmission line highlights how technical and financial cooperation between the Nepal Electricity Authority and European partners benefits our country and helps to harness low-carbon power sources,&rdquo; said Kul Man Ghishing, managing director of the Nepal Electricity Authority.</p>

<p>The distribution scheme under the transmission system will also enable households in remote rural communities to benefit from first time access to electricity and reduce the need for expensive generators and cooking fuels.</p>

<p>&nbsp;The European Union and German government financed comprehensive technical assistance totalling 16.25 million euros, essential for preparation and implementation of the project, and the European Investment Bank is providing a EUR 30 million long-term loan to finance construction of the new transmission link.</p>

<p>Among the demands put forth by the agitators include taking action against the Indian security personnel who beat the tanker driver, putting to an end the misbehaviour meted out against Nepali drivers, ensuring security of drivers and seeking alternative route to the existing heavy traffic road.</p>

<p>RSS said that the fuel supply has come to normalcy from Monday evening after the Indian side admitted its mistake and pledged to not repeat such misbehavour again. The Indian side realized its mistake at a meeting between the officials of Nepal and India at Jogbani on Monday.</p>

<p>However, the member states have made significant progress in recent years, according to a statement issued by the WHO. Region-wide, urban coverage of basic sanitation is now close to 70 percent. In a majority of countries rural coverage exceeds 50 percent.</p>

<p>The share of the region&rsquo;s population practicing open defecation has meanwhile been reduced from more than 50 percent to less than 30 percent, while several member states have achieved more than 90 percent coverage of basic sanitation services.</p>

<p>The return on every dollar invested in safe sanitation is estimated to be nearly six times, due in large part to lower health costs, increased productivity and fewer premature deaths, the statement further said.</p>

Once complete, the new Chilime-Trishuli Transmission link allows thousands of people living in communities in the Trishuli River Basin and beyond to benefit from clean hydropower energy and a more reliable power supply, said Energy Minister Barshaman Pun.</p>

<p>Speaking at the formal inauguration ceremony, Minister of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Pun said, &ldquo;This crucial energy project is key for sustainable development in Nepal and demonstrates the close partnership between Nepal and European partners.&rdquo;</p>

<p>According to a joint statement issued by the government and its European partners, the new 27km transmission line will be built through difficult mountainous terrain 50km west of Kathmandu by the Nepal Electricity Authority and financed by the European Investment Bank, the European Union through the Asian Investment Facility, German Development Bank KfW and the Government of Nepal.</p>

<p>The new transmission link will enable 600 MW of clean energy generated from hydropower plants, including independent power producers, on the Trishuli River corridor to be connected to Nepal&rsquo;s national electricity grid and upgrade the existing electricity distribution to enable a more reliable supply of energy, the statement further said.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Over the coming years investment in clean energy will support sustainable development across Nepal and significantly increase use of renewable energy sources. The Chilime-Trishuli transmission line highlights how technical and financial cooperation between the Nepal Electricity Authority and European partners benefits our country and helps to harness low-carbon power sources,&rdquo; said Kul Man Ghishing, managing director of the Nepal Electricity Authority.</p>

<p>The distribution scheme under the transmission system will also enable households in remote rural communities to benefit from first time access to electricity and reduce the need for expensive generators and cooking fuels.</p>

<p>&nbsp;The European Union and German government financed comprehensive technical assistance totalling 16.25 million euros, essential for preparation and implementation of the project, and the European Investment Bank is providing a EUR 30 million long-term loan to finance construction of the new transmission link.</p>

<p>The agitating drivers had halted fuel supply for three days protesting the misbehavior from the Indian security personnel.</p>

<p>Among the demands put forth by the agitators include taking action against the Indian security personnel who beat the tanker driver, putting to an end the misbehaviour meted out against Nepali drivers, ensuring security of drivers and seeking alternative route to the existing heavy traffic road.</p>

<p>RSS said that the fuel supply has come to normalcy from Monday evening after the Indian side admitted its mistake and pledged to not repeat such misbehavour again. The Indian side realized its mistake at a meeting between the officials of Nepal and India at Jogbani on Monday.</p>

<p>&nbsp;EBL said it currently has a customer base of over 950,000, one of the highest in the industry. Further, the bank was recently adjudged as the Number 2 bank among commercial banks of Nepal under the CAMELS rating.</p>

<p>The bank has been providing its services through a network of 86 branches, three extension counters, 28 revenue collection counters and 113 at the domestic level.</p>

<p>The WHO warned that this leads to increased human-feces contact and the transmission of a range of diseases, from cholera to typhoid and hepatitis A and E to tapeworm.&nbsp;</p>

<p>However, the member states have made significant progress in recent years, according to a statement issued by the WHO. Region-wide, urban coverage of basic sanitation is now close to 70 percent. In a majority of countries rural coverage exceeds 50 percent.</p>

<p>The share of the region&rsquo;s population practicing open defecation has meanwhile been reduced from more than 50 percent to less than 30 percent, while several member states have achieved more than 90 percent coverage of basic sanitation services.</p>

<p>The return on every dollar invested in safe sanitation is estimated to be nearly six times, due in large part to lower health costs, increased productivity and fewer premature deaths, the statement further said.</p>

<p>WHO&rsquo;s South-East Asia Region comprises the following 11 member states: Bangladesh, Bhutan, Democratic People&rsquo;s Republic of Korea, India, Indonesia, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Timor-Leste.</p>
