According to the new provision of the central bank, credit card holders can now withdraw only 10 percent cash from their credit limit. Analysts say this provision encourages credit card holders to carry out cashless transaction.

The new directive issued by the central bank’s Payment System Department on Friday, May 24, discourages cash transaction by credit card holders in normal condition. The bank earlier on July 15, 2018 had restricted cash withdrawal from credit cards to 25 percent of the total credit limit.

According to the bank, it took the measure to significantly reduce cash withdrawal after finding that the credit card users were withdrawing cash massively. The new directive states that the card holders should withdraw 10 percent cash from the credit limit only during emergencies.

Prepaid card doesn’t have such limitations. At present, debit card users are allowed to withdraw cash from Rs 500 to Rs 25,000 at a time.

The central bank has made it mandatory to make cash withdrawal from credit cards available even if the issuer and acquirer are from different institutions and that the charges levied for the transaction service should be made public.

Likewise, the new directive of Nepal Rastra Bank has also notified that pin numbers are not required for the customers in transactions up to Rs 2000 at a time through Near Field Communication Technology (NFCT) card issued by the banks and financial institutions (BFIs). BFIs themselves should manage the risks and transaction number, states the directive.

Likewise, customers can make a maximum payment of up to 50,000 daily through mobile banking. But in cases where there are no billing system or transaction details available, customers can deposit or withdraw amount worth only Rs 100,000 per month through mobile banking.

', 'published' => true, 'created' => '2019-05-26', 'modified' => '2019-05-26', 'keywords' => '', 'description' => '', 'sortorder' => '10511', 'image' => '20190526024929_NRB Facebook.jpg', 'article_date' => '2019-05-26 00:00:00', 'homepage' => false, 'breaking_news' => false, 'main_news' => true, 'in_scroller' => false, 'user_id' => '20' ) ), (int) 3 => array( 'Article' => array( 'id' => '10759', 'article_category_id' => '1', 'title' => 'Nepal’s Import Stands at Staggering Rs 1.1 trillion', 'sub_title' => '', 'summary' => 'May 26: The import of goods to Nepal in the first 10 months of the current fiscal year stood at a staggering Rs 1.1 trillion while the export remained merely Rs 78 billion.', 'content' => '
May 26: The import of goods to Nepal in the first 10 months of the current fiscal year stood at a staggering Rs 1.1 trillion while the export remained merely Rs 78 billion.

According to a report released by the Department of Customs on Friday, May 24, the country imported the highest value of goods from India worth Rs 761 billion during the review period while it exported goods worth Rs 50 billion to the southern neighbour.

Likewise, goods worth Rs 17.8 billion were exported to China while Nepal imported goods worth Rs 169 from the northern neighbour.

According to the report, petroleum products, vehicles and iron were the major import of Nepal.

During the review period, Nepal imported petroleum products worth Rs 261.09 billion and iron and steel products worth Rs 119.8 billion.

Likewise, the country imported machineries and equipment worth Rs 155 billion, vehicles worth Rs 77 billion, electric appliances of Rs 72.8 billion, consumable goods of Rs 44 billion, vegetables of Rs 24 billion and fruits of Rs 15.4 billion.

', 'published' => true, 'created' => '2019-05-26', 'modified' => '2019-05-26', 'keywords' => '', 'description' => '', 'sortorder' => '10510', 'image' => '20190526022115_aaaa.jpg', 'article_date' => '2019-05-26 00:00:00', 'homepage' => false, 'breaking_news' => false, 'main_news' => true, 'in_scroller' => null, 'user_id' => '20' ) ), (int) 4 => array( 'Article' => array( 'id' => '10758', 'article_category_id' => '236', 'title' => 'Shrinkhala Khatiwada appointed Brand Ambassador of Agni Group', 'sub_title' => '', 'summary' => 'May 26: Former Miss Nepal Shrinkhala Khatiwada has been appointed as the brand ambassador of Agni Group, the authorized distributor of Mahindra & Mahindra vehicles in Nepal.', 'content' => '
May 26: Former Miss Nepal Shrinkhala Khatiwada has been appointed as the brand ambassador of Agni Group, the authorized distributor of Mahindra & Mahindra vehicles in Nepal.

Executive Director of Agni Group Arjun Sharma made the announcement amid a function organised on May 24. The government had imposed the ban arguing that the stones worth millions were sold at scrap value.

The government’s policies and prorammes for the upcoming fiscal year has announced feasibility study for extracting valuables from mines in different parts of the country. The government has stated it will study the possibility of extraction of iron from Dhaubadi of Nawalparasi, valuable gems and copper from Jajarkot, petroleum from Dailekh, iron from Parbat and Tanahun and Uranium from Mustang.

The government plans to process the precious stones by setting up a refinery and intends to export them.

Altogether 29 companies had been extracting kainite, tourmaline and quartz in Nepal before the government imposed a ban in 2014. Kainite is classified as a very valuable stone while tourmaline is a valuable stone and quartz a normal stone. So far, 18 companies have renewed their license to extract the stones while only one company has been running a mine.

A mining company in Jajarkot and Dailekh had extracted 7 kilograms of kainite last year. The stones were utilized by the domestic diamond industry, according to Ramesh Maharjan, chairman of Nepal Gold- Silver and Jewellery Association.

Before the ban was imposed, Nepal had produced 698 kg of tourmaline, 1,187 kg of kainite and 4256 kg of quartz. The same year, the government had collected revenue of Rs 2.1 million from tourmaline, Rs 4,000 from kainite and Rs 86,000 from quartz. In the next fiscal year, the government increased the tax on tourmaline and quartz five times while that of kainite was increased 500 folds. Those projects which have a target to produce 1368 megawatts of electricity require investment of Rs 286.82 billion.

In recent years, Nepal has received more investment commitment from China than any other countries. According to the Department of Industry, China started proposing for investment in the energy sector of Nepal since FY 1998/99. FY 17/18 saw the highest amount of proposals worth Rs 36.5 billion from China.

However, this FY Nepal has not received any investment proposal from China, according to the Department. The lack of interest by Chinese investors has been attributed to the failure to implement the investment proposals of last FY.

President of Independent Power Producers' Association Nepal (IPPAN), Shailendra Guragain said that if the foreign investments are not secured, Chinese investment will also likely stop just like the Indian commitment. He explained that lots of Indian came to Nepal for investing in hydropower projects12 years ago. style="text-align: center;"> Pic. Showing Sensitive Candle Stick Chart

Analysis:

1. The CMP of 9th Jestha is below the Pivot of 12th Jestha and the volume is lower than that of last traded volume. Analyzing this we can say that the market now is in stalemate.

2. Observing today’s candle stick pattern, market had average day which seems more like it is “Evening Star”. Observing the candle stick patterns of past days we see the formation of “Dark Cloud Cover”. This suggests an opportunity for the shorts to capitalize on the next day’s open: a warning sign to bullish investors

3. Choppy trend can be observed these days as we can see the candle sticks are hovering in the same range of 1300 to 1320 which is not exactly giving the sign; either the trend is upward or downward.

4. This may be the time for buyers and sellers to have patience because no actual trend is observed. There is a fluctuation in the market which is uncertain. Risk takers can invest in a suitable stock.

5. This week we can observe that the turnover of the market is greater than that of last week this gives us a sign that the buyers and sellers are now active in online trade.

', 'published' => true, 'created' => '2019-05-24', 'modified' => '2019-05-24', 'keywords' => '', 'description' => '', 'sortorder' => '10506', 'image' => '20190524031008_n.JPG', 'article_date' => '2019-05-24 00:00:00', 'homepage' => true, 'breaking_news' => false, 'main_news' => false, 'in_scroller' => false, 'user_id' => '22' ) ), (int) 8 => array( 'Article' => array( 'id' => '10754', 'article_category_id' => '1', 'title' => 'International Tourism on the Rise: WTO barometer', 'sub_title' => '', 'summary' => 'May 24: International tourism continued to grow over the first quarter of 2019, according to the latest issue of the UNWTO World Tourism Barometer.', 'content' => '
May 24: International tourism continued to grow over the first quarter of 2019, according to the latest issue of the UNWTO World Tourism Barometer.

The barometer maintained by the World Tourism Organization that monitors global tourism trends states that the average 4 percent increase of tourism worldwide is a “very positive sign” though the growth is at a slower rate when compared with the last two years.

The Middle East (8 percent) and Asia and the Pacific (6 percent) experienced the highest increase in international arrivals, according to a statement issued by UNWTO. Numbers in both Europe and Africa were up by 4 percent, and in the Americas growth was recorded at 3 percent.

“International tourism continues to perform strongly worldwide fuelled by a positive economy, increased air capacity and visa facilitation,” the statement quoted UNWTO Secretary-General, Zurab Pololikashvili, as saying. “Growth in arrivals is easing slightly after two years of exceptional results, but the sector continues to outpace the global rate of economic growth.”

According to UNWTO, Europe – the world’s largest tourism region – reported solid growth (4 percent), led by destinations in Southern and Mediterranean Europe and Central and Eastern Europe (both 5 percent).

Growth in Africa was driven by the ongoing recovery in North Africa (11 percent). In the Americas, the Caribbean (17 percent) rebounded strongly after weak results in 2018, following the impact of hurricanes Irma and Maria in late 2017.

In Asia and the Pacific, results for the first three months showed a 6 percent increase led by North-East Asia (9 percent) and a very solid performance from the Chinese market.

“With this growth comes greater responsibility for translating it into better jobs and better lives,” Pololikashvili stresses. “We need to continue investing in innovation, digital transformation and education so that we can harness the many benefits tourism can bring while at the same time mitigating its impact on the environment and society with a better management of tourism flows.”

UNWTO Confidence Index Panel optimistic over future growth

Confidence in global tourism has started to pick up again after slowing down at the end of 2018, according to the latest UNWTO Confidence Index survey. The outlook for the May-August 2019 period, the peak season for many destinations in the Northern hemisphere, is more optimistic than in the recent periods and more than half of respondents are expecting a better performance in the coming four months.

Experts’ evaluation of tourism performance in the first four months of 2019 was also rather positive and in line with the expectations expressed at the beginning of that period.

UNWTO forecasts growth of 3 percent to 4 percent in international tourist arrivals in 2019.

', 'published' => true, 'created' => '2019-05-24', 'modified' => '2019-05-24', 'keywords' => '', 'description' => '', 'sortorder' => '10505', 'image' => '20190524023810_mangal bazar tourist.jpg', 'article_date' => '2019-05-24 00:00:00', 'homepage' => false, 'breaking_news' => false, 'main_news' => true, 'in_scroller' => null, 'user_id' => '20' ) ), (int) 9 => array( 'Article' => array( 'id' => '10753', 'article_category_id' => '218', 'title' => 'Qatar Airways to Provide Special Discount to Mega Bank Card Holders', 'sub_title' => '', 'summary' => 'May 24: Mega Bank has signed an agreement with Qatar Airways to provide special discounts to its card holders for flight tickets from the airline company.

', 'published' => true, 'created' => '2019-05-26', 'modified' => '2019-05-26', 'keywords' => '', 'description' => '', 'sortorder' => '10511', 'image' => '20190526024929_NRB Facebook.jpg', 'article_date' => '2019-05-26 00:00:00', 'homepage' => false, 'breaking_news' => false, 'main_news' => true, 'in_scroller' => false, 'user_id' => '20' ) ), (int) 3 => array( 'Article' => array( 'id' => '10759', 'article_category_id' => '1', 'title' => 'Nepal’s Import Stands at Staggering Rs 1.1 trillion', 'sub_title' => '', 'summary' => 'May 26: The import of goods to Nepal in the first 10 months of the current fiscal year stood at a staggering Rs 1.1 trillion while the export remained merely Rs 78 billion.', 'content' => '

', 'published' => true, 'created' => '2019-05-26', 'modified' => '2019-05-26', 'keywords' => '', 'description' => '', 'sortorder' => '10510', 'image' => '20190526022115_aaaa.jpg', 'article_date' => '2019-05-26 00:00:00', 'homepage' => false, 'breaking_news' => false, 'main_news' => true, 'in_scroller' => null, 'user_id' => '20' ) ), (int) 4 => array( 'Article' => array( 'id' => '10758', 'article_category_id' => '236', 'title' => 'Shrinkhala Khatiwada appointed Brand Ambassador of Agni Group', 'sub_title' => '', 'summary' => 'May 26: Former Miss Nepal Shrinkhala Khatiwada has been appointed as the brand ambassador of Agni Group, the authorized distributor of Mahindra & Mahindra vehicles in Nepal.', 'content' => '

', 'published' => true, 'created' => '2019-05-24', 'modified' => '2019-05-24', 'keywords' => '', 'description' => '', 'sortorder' => '10506', 'image' => '20190524031008_n.JPG', 'article_date' => '2019-05-24 00:00:00', 'homepage' => true, 'breaking_news' => false, 'main_news' => false, 'in_scroller' => false, 'user_id' => '22' ) ), (int) 8 => array( 'Article' => array( 'id' => '10754', 'article_category_id' => '1', 'title' => 'International Tourism on the Rise: WTO barometer', 'sub_title' => '', 'summary' => 'May 24: International tourism continued to grow over the first quarter of 2019, according to the latest issue of the UNWTO World Tourism Barometer.', 'content' => '

', 'published' => true, 'created' => '2019-05-26', 'modified' => '2019-05-26', 'keywords' => '', 'description' => '', 'sortorder' => '10511', 'image' => '20190526024929_NRB Facebook.jpg', 'article_date' => '2019-05-26 00:00:00', 'homepage' => false, 'breaking_news' => false, 'main_news' => true, 'in_scroller' => false, 'user_id' => '20' ) ), (int) 3 => array( 'Article' => array( 'id' => '10759', 'article_category_id' => '1', 'title' => 'Nepal’s Import Stands at Staggering Rs 1.1 trillion', 'sub_title' => '', 'summary' => 'May 26: The import of goods to Nepal in the first 10 months of the current fiscal year stood at a staggering Rs 1.1 trillion while the export remained merely Rs 78 billion.', 'content' => '

', 'published' => true, 'created' => '2019-05-26', 'modified' => '2019-05-26', 'keywords' => '', 'description' => '', 'sortorder' => '10510', 'image' => '20190526022115_aaaa.jpg', 'article_date' => '2019-05-26 00:00:00', 'homepage' => false, 'breaking_news' => false, 'main_news' => true, 'in_scroller' => null, 'user_id' => '20' ) ), (int) 4 => array( 'Article' => array( 'id' => '10758', 'article_category_id' => '236', 'title' => 'Shrinkhala Khatiwada appointed Brand Ambassador of Agni Group', 'sub_title' => '', 'summary' => 'May 26: Former Miss Nepal Shrinkhala Khatiwada has been appointed as the brand ambassador of Agni Group, the authorized distributor of Mahindra & Mahindra vehicles in Nepal.', 'content' => '

', 'published' => true, 'created' => '2019-05-24', 'modified' => '2019-05-24', 'keywords' => '', 'description' => '', 'sortorder' => '10506', 'image' => '20190524031008_n.JPG', 'article_date' => '2019-05-24 00:00:00', 'homepage' => true, 'breaking_news' => false, 'main_news' => false, 'in_scroller' => false, 'user_id' => '22' ) ), (int) 8 => array( 'Article' => array( 'id' => '10754', 'article_category_id' => '1', 'title' => 'International Tourism on the Rise: WTO barometer', 'sub_title' => '', 'summary' => 'May 24: International tourism continued to grow over the first quarter of 2019, according to the latest issue of the UNWTO World Tourism Barometer.', 'content' => '

', 'published' => true, 'created' => '2019-05-26', 'modified' => '2019-05-26', 'keywords' => '', 'description' => '', 'sortorder' => '10511', 'image' => '20190526024929_NRB Facebook.jpg', 'article_date' => '2019-05-26 00:00:00', 'homepage' => false, 'breaking_news' => false, 'main_news' => true, 'in_scroller' => false, 'user_id' => '20' ) ), (int) 3 => array( 'Article' => array( 'id' => '10759', 'article_category_id' => '1', 'title' => 'Nepal’s Import Stands at Staggering Rs 1.1 trillion', 'sub_title' => '', 'summary' => 'May 26: The import of goods to Nepal in the first 10 months of the current fiscal year stood at a staggering Rs 1.1 trillion while the export remained merely Rs 78 billion.', 'content' => '

', 'published' => true, 'created' => '2019-05-26', 'modified' => '2019-05-26', 'keywords' => '', 'description' => '', 'sortorder' => '10510', 'image' => '20190526022115_aaaa.jpg', 'article_date' => '2019-05-26 00:00:00', 'homepage' => false, 'breaking_news' => false, 'main_news' => true, 'in_scroller' => null, 'user_id' => '20' ) ), (int) 4 => array( 'Article' => array( 'id' => '10758', 'article_category_id' => '236', 'title' => 'Shrinkhala Khatiwada appointed Brand Ambassador of Agni Group', 'sub_title' => '', 'summary' => 'May 26: Former Miss Nepal Shrinkhala Khatiwada has been appointed as the brand ambassador of Agni Group, the authorized distributor of Mahindra & Mahindra vehicles in Nepal.', 'content' => '

President of Independent Power Producers' Association Nepal (IPPAN), Shailendra Guragain said that if the foreign investments are not secured, Chinese investment will also likely stop just like the Indian commitment. style="text-align: center;"> Pic.

', 'published' => true, 'created' => '2019-05-24', 'modified' => '2019-05-24', 'keywords' => '', 'description' => '', 'sortorder' => '10506', 'image' => '20190524031008_n.JPG', 'article_date' => '2019-05-24 00:00:00', 'homepage' => true, 'breaking_news' => false, 'main_news' => false, 'in_scroller' => false, 'user_id' => '22' ) ), (int) 8 => array( 'Article' => array( 'id' => '10754', 'article_category_id' => '1', 'title' => 'International Tourism on the Rise: WTO barometer', 'sub_title' => '', 'summary' => 'May 24: International tourism continued to grow over the first quarter of 2019, according to the latest issue of the UNWTO World Tourism Barometer.', 'content' => '

', 'published' => true, 'created' => '2019-05-24', 'modified' => '2019-05-24', 'keywords' => '', 'description' => '', 'sortorder' => '10505', 'image' => '20190524023810_mangal bazar tourist.jpg', 'article_date' => '2019-05-24 00:00:00', 'homepage' => false, 'breaking_news' => false, 'main_news' => true, 'in_scroller' => null, 'user_id' => '20' ) ), (int) 9 => array( 'Article' => array( 'id' => '10753', 'article_category_id' => '218', 'title' => 'Qatar Airways to Provide Special Discount to Mega Bank Card Holders', 'sub_title' => '', 'summary' => 'May 24: Mega Bank has signed an agreement with Qatar Airways to provide special discounts to its card holders for flight tickets from the airline company.
