However, the annual tax collection has increased by eight folds compared to the data of past 15 years. During the fiscal year 1997/98, Rs 32.94 billion revenue was collected while in the fiscal year 2011/12 the collection increased to Rs 244 billion. The government has targeted to collect Rs 289 billion in the current fiscal year. Director General of Inland Revenue Department (IRD), Tanka Mani Sharma is hopeful on meeting the target.&nbsp;</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">
	The market is flooded with the imported consumer goods because of the increasing demands. &nbsp;Similarly, the consumerism has also increased much. Therefore, government is collecting huge amount of import taxes. The government campaigns on tax awareness along with ongoing institutional improvements have contributed for meeting the revenue targets, said Sharma. There were 0.3 million tax payers registered in 2006/2007 and in the running fiscal year, the number has increased to a total of 0.8 million.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">
	The IRD has also projected addition of 0.1 million tax payers in the current fiscal year. Sharma further adds, “The successful efforts to increase the tax bracket in the previous years have resulted in increasing revenue collection. If the informal sector can be brought under the tax bracket, the revenue collection can be increased by 25 per cent.”&nbsp;</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">
	&nbsp;“The improvement in tax collection is a positive sign but the huge amount amassed as import taxes is a matter of stress”, say some economists. This means that more foreign items are entering into the Nepali market. &nbsp;This puts a negative impact on the foreign currency deposit of Nepal. Economists Keshav Acharya said, “The remittance is the main factor for increasing demand in the market, and the remittance is not invested for productive use.”</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">
	In the last fiscal year, a huge amount was spent on importing vehicles and gadgets such as mobile phones and laptops. “The increase in import tax cannot be considered good in any economy. It may appear as a good source of revenue at present for the government but in a long run, the economy will have to face negative consequences,” Shree Ram Poudel, an Economist said. He further added, “Nepal is slowly &nbsp;catching the Dutch disease.”</p>

	Nepal Stock Exchange Limited (Nepse) has de-listed 44 companies, most of them from manufacturing and processing sector or trading sector. These companies are de-listed for not renewing and paying their annual listing fee and for not communicating with the Nepse.&nbsp;</p>

	Nepse has stated that these companies were seen in financial problem. They have not gone for the liquidation but are not in existence. &nbsp;The investors are also not seen optimistic on the recovery of their investment and the governing bodies of these problematic companies are also seen eager to take action on them.&nbsp;</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">
	Niranjan Phuyal, Senior Officer at Nepse has stated that, there is also not clear information about these companies. He also added that the chances of reviving of these companies have already gone into vein.&nbsp;</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">
	Though the Nepse has a provision of trading the shares at Over-the-Counter for the companies which are not listed or de-listed for the benefit of the general investors, this is not practical in case of this companies as they are virtually non-existent.</p>',

	A faster, streamlined and automated business registration process will help companies apply and file for registration online, curtailing uncertainty and processing time. The South Asia Enterprise Development Facility, managed by IFC in partnership with the UK Government and the Norwegian agency for Development Cooperation, has supported this initiative.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">
	“The Government of Nepal is committed to providing services to citizens and businesses at their doorstep,” said Anil Kumar Jha, Nepal’s Minister for Industry. “This IFC-supported automation project has enhanced transparency and accountability in service delivery for businesses, taking a step towards promoting good governance.”</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">
	On average, almost 10,000 new companies are registered annually in Nepal. According to the Doing Business Report 2013, the process now takes 21 days instead of 29 days it took earlier, thanks to a 7-step internal procedure in place of the 15 earlier.</p>

However, the annual tax collection has increased by eight folds compared to the data of past 15 years. During the fiscal year 1997/98, Rs 32.94 billion revenue was collected while in the fiscal year 2011/12 the collection increased to Rs 244 billion. The government has targeted to collect Rs 289 billion in the current fiscal year. Director General of Inland Revenue Department (IRD), Tanka Mani Sharma is hopeful on meeting the target.&nbsp;</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">
	The market is flooded with the imported consumer goods because of the increasing demands. &nbsp;Similarly, the consumerism has also increased much. Therefore, government is collecting huge amount of import taxes. The government campaigns on tax awareness along with ongoing institutional improvements have contributed for meeting the revenue targets, said Sharma. There were 0.3 million tax payers registered in 2006/2007 and in the running fiscal year, the number has increased to a total of 0.8 million.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">
	The IRD has also projected addition of 0.1 million tax payers in the current fiscal year. Sharma further adds, “The successful efforts to increase the tax bracket in the previous years have resulted in increasing revenue collection. If the informal sector can be brought under the tax bracket, the revenue collection can be increased by 25 per cent.”&nbsp;</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">
	&nbsp;“The improvement in tax collection is a positive sign but the huge amount amassed as import taxes is a matter of stress”, say some economists. This means that more foreign items are entering into the Nepali market. &nbsp;This puts a negative impact on the foreign currency deposit of Nepal. Economists Keshav Acharya said, “The remittance is the main factor for increasing demand in the market, and the remittance is not invested for productive use.”</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">
	In the last fiscal year, a huge amount was spent on importing vehicles and gadgets such as mobile phones and laptops. “The increase in import tax cannot be considered good in any economy. It may appear as a good source of revenue at present for the government but in a long run, the economy will have to face negative consequences,” Shree Ram Poudel, an Economist said. He further added, “Nepal is slowly &nbsp;catching the Dutch disease.”</p>

	Nepse has stated that these companies were seen in financial problem. They have not gone for the liquidation but are not in existence. &nbsp;The investors are also not seen optimistic on the recovery of their investment and the governing bodies of these problematic companies are also seen eager to take action on them.&nbsp;</p>

	Niranjan Phuyal, Senior Officer at Nepse has stated that, there is also not clear information about these companies. He also added that the chances of reviving of these companies have already gone into vein.&nbsp;</p>

	Though the Nepse has a provision of trading the shares at Over-the-Counter for the companies which are not listed or de-listed for the benefit of the general investors, this is not practical in case of this companies as they are virtually non-existent.</p>',

	A faster, streamlined and automated business registration process will help companies apply and file for registration online, curtailing uncertainty and processing time. The South Asia Enterprise Development Facility, managed by IFC in partnership with the UK Government and the Norwegian agency for Development Cooperation, has supported this initiative.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">
	“The Government of Nepal is committed to providing services to citizens and businesses at their doorstep,” said Anil Kumar Jha, Nepal’s Minister for Industry. “This IFC-supported automation project has enhanced transparency and accountability in service delivery for businesses, taking a step towards promoting good governance.”</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">
	On average, almost 10,000 new companies are registered annually in Nepal. According to the Doing Business Report 2013, the process now takes 21 days instead of 29 days it took earlier, thanks to a 7-step internal procedure in place of the 15 earlier.</p>

However, the annual tax collection has increased by eight folds compared to the data of past 15 years. During the fiscal year 1997/98, Rs 32.94 billion revenue was collected while in the fiscal year 2011/12 the collection increased to Rs 244 billion. The government has targeted to collect Rs 289 billion in the current fiscal year. Director General of Inland Revenue Department (IRD), Tanka Mani Sharma is hopeful on meeting the target.&nbsp;</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">
	The market is flooded with the imported consumer goods because of the increasing demands. &nbsp;Similarly, the consumerism has also increased much. Therefore, government is collecting huge amount of import taxes. The government campaigns on tax awareness along with ongoing institutional improvements have contributed for meeting the revenue targets, said Sharma. There were 0.3 million tax payers registered in 2006/2007 and in the running fiscal year, the number has increased to a total of 0.8 million.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">
	The IRD has also projected addition of 0.1 million tax payers in the current fiscal year. Sharma further adds, “The successful efforts to increase the tax bracket in the previous years have resulted in increasing revenue collection. If the informal sector can be brought under the tax bracket, the revenue collection can be increased by 25 per cent.”&nbsp;</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">
	&nbsp;“The improvement in tax collection is a positive sign but the huge amount amassed as import taxes is a matter of stress”, say some economists. This means that more foreign items are entering into the Nepali market. &nbsp;This puts a negative impact on the foreign currency deposit of Nepal. Economists Keshav Acharya said, “The remittance is the main factor for increasing demand in the market, and the remittance is not invested for productive use.”</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">
	In the last fiscal year, a huge amount was spent on importing vehicles and gadgets such as mobile phones and laptops. “The increase in import tax cannot be considered good in any economy. It may appear as a good source of revenue at present for the government but in a long run, the economy will have to face negative consequences,” Shree Ram Poudel, an Economist said. He further added, “Nepal is slowly &nbsp;catching the Dutch disease.”</p>

	Niranjan Phuyal, Senior Officer at Nepse has stated that, there is also not clear information about these companies. He also added that the chances of reviving of these companies have already gone into vein.&nbsp;</p>

	Though the Nepse has a provision of trading the shares at Over-the-Counter for the companies which are not listed or de-listed for the benefit of the general investors, this is not practical in case of this companies as they are virtually non-existent.</p>',

	A faster, streamlined and automated business registration process will help companies apply and file for registration online, curtailing uncertainty and processing time. The South Asia Enterprise Development Facility, managed by IFC in partnership with the UK Government and the Norwegian agency for Development Cooperation, has supported this initiative.</p>

	On average, almost 10,000 new companies are registered annually in Nepal. According to the Doing Business Report 2013, the process now takes 21 days instead of 29 days it took earlier, thanks to a 7-step internal procedure in place of the 15 earlier.</p>

	The automated system offers a host of e-services including the option to update documents. “IFC has played a catalytic role in this major automation initiative. However, the annual tax collection has increased by eight folds compared to the data of past 15 years. During the fiscal year 1997/98, Rs 32.94 billion revenue was collected while in the fiscal year 2011/12 the collection increased to Rs 244 billion. The government has targeted to collect Rs 289 billion in the current fiscal year. Director General of Inland Revenue Department (IRD), Tanka Mani Sharma is hopeful on meeting the target.&nbsp;</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">
	The market is flooded with the imported consumer goods because of the increasing demands. &nbsp;Similarly, the consumerism has also increased much. Therefore, government is collecting huge amount of import taxes. The government campaigns on tax awareness along with ongoing institutional improvements have contributed for meeting the revenue targets, said Sharma. There were 0.3 million tax payers registered in 2006/2007 and in the running fiscal year, the number has increased to a total of 0.8 million.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">
	The IRD has also projected addition of 0.1 million tax payers in the current fiscal year. Sharma further adds, “The successful efforts to increase the tax bracket in the previous years have resulted in increasing revenue collection. If the informal sector can be brought under the tax bracket, the revenue collection can be increased by 25 per cent.”&nbsp;</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">
	&nbsp;“The improvement in tax collection is a positive sign but the huge amount amassed as import taxes is a matter of stress”, say some economists. This means that more foreign items are entering into the Nepali market. &nbsp;This puts a negative impact on the foreign currency deposit of Nepal. Economists Keshav Acharya said, “The remittance is the main factor for increasing demand in the market, and the remittance is not invested for productive use.”</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">
	In the last fiscal year, a huge amount was spent on importing vehicles and gadgets such as mobile phones and laptops. “The increase in import tax cannot be considered good in any economy. It may appear as a good source of revenue at present for the government but in a long run, the economy will have to face negative consequences,” Shree Ram Poudel, an Economist said. He further added, “Nepal is slowly &nbsp;catching the Dutch disease.”</p>

	Nepse has stated that these companies were seen in financial problem. They have not gone for the liquidation but are not in existence. &nbsp;The investors are also not seen optimistic on the recovery of their investment and the governing bodies of these problematic companies are also seen eager to take action on them.&nbsp;</p>

	Niranjan Phuyal, Senior Officer at Nepse has stated that, there is also not clear information about these companies. He also added that the chances of reviving of these companies have already gone into vein.&nbsp;</p>

	Though the Nepse has a provision of trading the shares at Over-the-Counter for the companies which are not listed or de-listed for the benefit of the general investors, this is not practical in case of this companies as they are virtually non-existent.</p>',

	International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, is supporting the government of Nepal in simplifying and automating procedures for issuing licenses and other approvals, reducing compliance burden for investors.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">
	A faster, streamlined and automated business registration process will help companies apply and file for registration online, curtailing uncertainty and processing time. The South Asia Enterprise Development Facility, managed by IFC in partnership with the UK Government and the Norwegian agency for Development Cooperation, has supported this initiative.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">
	“The Government of Nepal is committed to providing services to citizens and businesses at their doorstep,” said Anil Kumar Jha, Nepal’s Minister for Industry. “This IFC-supported automation project has enhanced transparency and accountability in service delivery for businesses, taking a step towards promoting good governance.”</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">
	On average, almost 10,000 new companies are registered annually in Nepal. According to the Doing Business Report 2013, the process now takes 21 days instead of 29 days it took earlier, thanks to a 7-step internal procedure in place of the 15 earlier.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">
	The automated system offers a host of e-services including the option to update documents. “IFC has played a catalytic role in this major automation initiative. It can now be replicated in other areas affecting businesses,” said Valentino S. Bagatsing, IFC Resident Representative in Nepal. “Facilitating private sector growth through a supportive business environment has been a key focus of IFC programs in Nepal.”</p>',
