Similarly, development banks and finance companies have set a maximum interest rate of 9.5% and 9.6% respectively.</span></span></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:18px"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">Seven commercial banks had maintained interest rates in double digits to resolve the problem of liquidity crisis. Sunrise Bank had raised the interest rate on deposits to 11.10%. Likewise, some other commercial banks, development banks and finance companies had also raised interest rates to double digits. </span></span></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:18px"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">In fact banks had started raising interest rates since September due to the liquidity crunch. In September, Sunrise Bank had raised the interest rate to 10.07%. "We are collecting data from the industrialists. The electricity had been cut off after water got into a section of the NEA’s Duhabi grid. The NEA's Provincial Office No. 1 has informed that the work of removing water from the section of the grid is going on. The office has also informed that the power would be restored only after studying the extent of damage caused by the water and making all the necessary repairs.</span></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:12pt"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">The floods have compelled 1,000 families to be displaced in Biratnagar metropolitan city, said the metropolitan chief Bhim Parajuli.
