February 1: It has been learnt that the three industries, which are registered in the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) of Bhairahawa, are about to start operation. Shakti Minerals will start test production from next week, it informed New Business Age.</p>

“Works in the plant section are about to be completed,” said project head of the industry, Laxman Thakuri. He claimed that the industry is first of its kind in Nepal, and has been established with an investment of Rs 400 million.</p>
<p>
The industry aims to produce dolomite (a substance used to produce paints) and flux (used in iron plants) and export them to India and third countries.</p>
<p>
According to Deepak Jha, promoter of the industry, the government had announced to exempt customs duty for the industries in the SEZ, but Shakti Minerals had to pay Rs 20 million as customs duty to import machineries.</p>
<p>
He said the lack of coordination between the ministries have affected the industries. Bhairahawa SEZ is spread across 54 <em>bigaha </em>land. Likewise, a total of 19 industries will be operating 39 plants in the area. </p>
