January 29: Altogether 625 companies have been enlisted in the social security scheme announced by the government. Of the total 625 companies, 272 received certificate from Minister for Labour, Gokarna Bista, amid a function on Monday, January 28.

Some of the enlisted companies include Chaudhary Group, Golcha Organisation, Dugad Group, IME Group, Jagadamba Group which received certificate during the programme. Likewise, Annapurna Hotel, various companies operating at Balaju Industrial Estate, security guards supplying companies, majority of industries at Patan Industrial Estate, hotels, hospitals, schools, colleges, government and non-government institutions also got certificates at the event.

The government is also preparing to certify the remaining enlisted companies soon, said Minister Bista. He further said that the ministry is initiating to make the contributors to the employees’ provident fund and civil investment fund to participate in the social security fund. 

The government has already declared to implement the scheme July 17. Since the country’s big industries have already joined the scheme, remaining entrepreneurs are also expected to participate in the scheme.

Publishing a notice in the Nepal Gazette, the ministry on November 12, 2018, had urged the employer companies and labor suppliers of Kathmandu valley to be enlisted in the fund from November 22, 2018 to February 18, 2019.

The government is preparing to complete the listing of the companies by mid-May.
