A meeting of the Finance Committee of the House of Representatives on Sunday (January 27) called for effective expansion of the state-run telecom’s 4G service. RSS reported that the lawmakers also complained that the cost of NT’s project to develop 4G service was high.</p>
<p>
According to RSS, a Chinese company has been awarded the contract to undertake the Rs 18 billion project. In this regard, they suggested consulting experts before jumping to any conclusion.</p>
<p>
Former Finance Minister Surendra Pandey underscored the need for the NT to initiate the process to expand its service at the earliest. He, however, sought impartiality and quality service.</p>
<p>
Bishnu Prasad Paudel, who is also a former finance minister, demanded that the NT takes advice and suggestion from experts in information and technology before taking important decisions.</p>
<p>
Likewise, another former finance minister Gyanendra Bahadur Karki demanded effective expansion of NT service. The committee's Chairperson Krishna Prasad Dahal said experts' suggestion would be sought for NT service expansion.</p>
