He further said that some banks offer the customers to open bank account with zero balance. When such bank accounts are not used by the account holders, they become inactive.</p>
<p>The central bank has a provision of considering a bank account as dormant account if it is inactive for more than six months. If any customer does not make any transaction including deposit and withdrawal of cash through the account within six months, it is automatically categorised as dormant account. To reactivate such bank accounts, the account holders have to submit an application to the concerned bank where they had opened the account. </p>
