January 1: Nepali real sector companies including factories and industries are now required to issue at least 10 per cent of share to be publicly listed companies.  Recently, SEBON amended the minimum public issue to 10 per cent from earlier 30 per cent in a bid to attract the real sector companies in the capital market.

"The board introduced the strategy to increase presence and effect of the real sector (productive) companies in the capital market," said Niraj Giri, Spokesperson of the board. "The real sector companies are not willing to participate in the capital market. Thus, the board provisioned of issuing 10 per cent general shares instead of 30 per cent to public so that to persuade them to join the capital market," he added. "The provision will attract the real sector to the capital market. It is an opportunity for them as well." According to him, Bottlers Nepal, Unilever are the few real sector companies of Nepali capital market.
