December 15: Nepali share market is soon being flooded with 35 million units of hydropower companies' shares. Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) has received as many as seven hydro companies' application for the approval on issuance of initial public offering (IPO) and right shares.

Under IPO, United Modi Hydropower has submitted application for the issuance of 1.72 million shares to general investors to SEBON. Modi has appointed NIBL capital market as its issue manager for that matter. The company also obtained SEBON approval for issuing 10 per cent shares to the locals of affected area on August 17.

Similarly, four companies have applied for approval to issue general shares to the locals of affected area. Among them, Radhi Hydro Company has appointed Nabil Investment Company as its issue manager. "SEBON has asked for amended documents," said Ajay Archarya, Assistant Manager of the company. He estimated two months period to complete the process. A total of 4.4MW electricity has been generated by Radhi River located at Ghermu VDC of Lamjung District since June 2014.

Another hydro company applying for share issuance approval from SEBON to the locals of affected area is Aakhu Khola Hydropower Company. The company has given the issuance management responsibility to Civil Capital Market. The project located at Marpak of Dhading district is generating 8.4MW power.

Similarly, Garjang Upatyaka Hydropower is set to issue IPO for locals of affected area for which it has appointed NIBL Capital Market as its share registrar. Likewise, Mailung Khola Hydropower company is planing to issue IPO for locals for which Siddhartha Capital will be managing the issuance. As per the securities regulation,the aforementioned hydro companies are issuing 10 per cent shares to the locals of affected area and 15 per cent to general investors.

Moreover, Api Power and Sanima Mai has applied to SEBON to issue 1:2 i.e. 20 million and 1:1 i.e. 105 million right shares respectively to its share holders.
