November 18: A panel discussion on 'Building Entrepreneurial System in Nepal' was organised on November 18. Samriddhi Foundation, the official host of Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) for Nepal hosted the panel discussion to celebrate the worldwide event. GEW is celebrated one week of each November. The event inspires people everywhere through local, national and global activities to help the self starters and innovators explore their potential. The event observed the participation of various established entrepreneurs, members of private sector organisations, startups, students and media.

Nabindra Raj Joshi, Minister of Industry was the chief guest for the programme. Similarly, the discussion was moderated by Ajay Pradhananga of Fleur Himalayan Limited. Ashutosh Tiwari, CEO of Sherpa Adventure Gear, Amod Rajbhandari, Partner of True North AssociatesDeependra Chaulagain, Director of Samriddhi Foundation and Aashish Adhikari, Founder of RedMud Coffee were the group of panelist for the programme. The discussion focused on way to develop the business ecosystem in the country.

In the program, Joshi said that he did recognize the present bureaucratic and political issues that clouded business policies. At the same time, he underlined the need to work together in order to create space for political change. Similarly, Tiwari spoke on the need of business ecosystem. He explained how innovative enterprises could link world resources and influence the whole world and thus the need to help them grow. Chaulagain expressed the need of flexible policy environment that spread hope but not fear in the business environment. During the programme, Rajbhandari explained the importance of access to finance and business management strategies for any new business.   Likewise, Adhikari shared his experience on how he began RedMud Coffee, the challenges he went through when he started as a young college drop out.

Pradhanang concluded the discussion by stating the need for initiating the Challenge Fund, the need to improve Nepal’s standing Doing Business Report, and the importance of having to reduce time taken to enter and exit a market in Nepal.
