Upon the initiation of the mechanism, hydropower promoters have expressed their contentment on shortening of the, previously, lengthy licensing process. "The licensing process which used to take 6-7 months will now conclude in 2-2.5 months. It will help to forward any project without delay," said, Pooja Dahal Neupane, Executive Director of Siddhakali Power.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The essential documents and procedure of providing detail presentation is same. However, the licensing procedure has significantly shortened," she added. Siddhakali Power is developing 75MW Trisuli Galchi hydropower project. The project obtained the license on October 17 from the department. In this regard, it has become the first hydropower project to get license from the department after amendment of the previous licensing mechanism. The amended regulation has authorised the department of providing license to the projects under 100MW.</p>
