“If the dam burst, it will affect Kulekhani, Sisneri, Manthali, Betani, Faparbari, Rai Gaun and many VDCs of Sarlahi including Bihar of India,” says Subash Chandra Thakuri, Member of Parliamentary from Makawanpur. Kulekhani, the only water reservoir hydropower of the country is being used as power backup by Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA). The 92MW hydropower project is constructed in such a way that it can utilize the water in dry season that is collected in rainy season. </p>
<p style="text-align:justify"><br />
The locals demanded to create secure environment by installing pre-information siren system considering the increasing dam insecurity. Stating the example of Cho Rolpa Lake where a siren is installed in dam area for security, the locals of Kulekhani demanded to install the system for the minimization of risk. The locals expressed their erk that the information about water level in the reservoir can be gotten from the Spokesperson in Kathmandu. </p>
<p>However, Badri Prasad Phuyal, senior engineer of the project rejects the claim that the reservoir will burst in any time soon. </p>
