September 5: The delegation led by Rajesh Kaji Shrestha, President of Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industry has met the newly appointed Minister of Industry, Nabindra Raj Joshi. The delegates hearty congratulated Joshi on his appointment as MoI on behalf of FNCCI and updated about the problems and current issues of the industrial sector.


During the meeting, Shrestha conveyed the problem of labor, energy, technology, capital and political stability in the country. Focusing on the need of new Industrial Enterprises Act, he stressed that the Act should address the problems related with environment assessment and other hideous provisions. Shrestha also urged of endorsing other financial Acts related with economic activities as soon as possible.


Exemplifying India, he informed that the neighboring country is in process of levying integrated tax 'GST' in goods and services and is providing subsidies to entrepreneurs to establish industry in border area. He added “Nepal government should also provide 10 percent subsidy to industries in order to make its products competitive.”

Meanwhile, Minister Joshi said that he has been focusing on stopping labor and capital migration and effective implementation of industrial strength. He added that he has been working on fasten the process of endorsing industrial enterprises Act, labour act and company act. Similarly, maintaining effective coordination between the ministries also tops the priorities, he stated.
