August 24: Ncell is focusing on data pack services to meet the demand of internet service along with the increase in the number of customers. “Ncell’s first priority will be to enhance the data service this year,” said  Simon Perkins, Managing Director of the company amid a program.

According to Perkins, the company is preparing to start 4G services after the permission from the regulatory body. Perkins informed that the company has submitted application for required permission and to add additional frequency to 1,800 MHz bandwidth in a bid to operate 4G services as per the modified frequency policy by the government. The company stated that it will provide 4G services within two months if permitted by the government.  

Earlier, the company announced to invest Rs 12 billion in telecom infrastructures to remote and rural areas. The company informed that the investment will be used in developing the capacity of networks in city areas as well. Currently, Ncell is providing data service and 3G network services in 75 and 63 districts of the country respectively.

The company has been providing 21 MB per second data service under 3G network to the customers of Kathmandu valley and Sagarmatha areas. The company is planning to advance the network in other cities outside the valley consecutively.

The company claims that 5,638,000 customers are using its internet services. It also expects that the users under 3G and 4G networks will increase in coming days.
