August 23: The British College (TBC) is organising the first ever ESports Championship. Issuing a press statement, TBC informed that it is proud to host a well-managed and exciting ESports festival with the bonus of prizes and rewards for the successful teams.

ESports Championship was officially inaugurated by Arun Lal Joshi (Associate Dean, IT and Computer Science of The British College). “This type of competition provides a platform for current gamers to network, and gives individuals who wish to join the movement a chance to get involved and improve their skills and TBC is always ready to promote such events in Nepal,” said Joshi.

According to the college, the championship is organised by The British College IT Club; planned and run by students under the leadership of Pratik Gautam, BSc Computing student. The students have transformed TBCs conference hall into a gaming hub, fitted with computers and gaming systems with the addition of a merchandise stand. The championship is being participated by approximately 40 colleges and 1000 participants.

The college informed that the focus of the championship will be three games including FIFA16, Counter Strike- Global Offensive (CS-GO) and DOTA 2. “All three are strategic games which test competitors gaming talents and tactical ability. CS-GO and DOTA 2 are team challenges so further test competitor’s ability to coordinate with their fellow gamers,” reads the statement.

The winners of the Championship will get rewarded with lucrative cash prizes. Under the category FIFA 16, winner will be provided with Rs 20,000 while first and second runner up will receive Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively. Similarly, CS-GO winner and first runner up will receive Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively. Likewise, DOTA 2 winner, first runner up and second runner up will receive Rs 30,000, Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively. Moreover, all the winners will be provided with medals and certificates in the championship.
